How many books did you read in August? Did you have a good reading month? I had a good reading month! Well, mostly 😂 firstly I finished my reading challenge and I’m now sitting on 54/52 books for 2020. Last year I only managed 26 or so. I’m really happy with this. Book boxes and bookstagram have really helped keeping me motivated and finding new authors to enjoy and obsess over. I was very tempted to get another body butter in the restock yesterday but held back until I’ve finished off this one. These butters are lovely and smooth and smell amazing. They’re just glorious and the perfect self care treat. Do you like romance in books? Personally, I don't really mind but I feel I've been craving some epic romance in books lately. The Glittering Court trilogy is probably one of my favourite romance series and the second one, Midnight Jewel is my favourite. Mirabelle was such a mysterious character in the first book so reading her story was so interesting as you found out exactly what she'd been up to. The romance is kind of friends to lovers I suppose, but the two are passionate characters and have a few heated discussions to say the least. I also loved the land pirates in this one and finding out exactly who they were. Where the first book focuses on heresy and freedom to practise faith, this one is full of espionage and disguises. I really love it. This is a fandom I wish there was more merch for. Happy #BookLoversDay! What books will you be reading today to celebrate? I have been on this platform since maybe 2015 or so, a fair few years, but I've never enjoyed it as much as I do now I am part of #bookstagram. I changed my feed over in January this year and have since then gained some lovely new followers and really loved discussing the books I obsess about with others. If you hadn't noticed I am a huge fan of YA Fantasy. I do read some adult fantasy too, and I'd argue that some of the books, particularly ACOTAR borderlines not being very YA in parts... Right now my mind is fully occupied with the upcoming release of #BloodandHoney next month. I'm very, very excited. Book box subscriptions have also become a big part of my life. I have found some great new fandoms, read books outside my comfort zone, and have some lovely bookish merch that I didn't know existed. The Mermaid, The Witch and The Sea has been on my TBR since May when I bought a one off Faecrate box to see what it was like. I wish I could afford all of them every month, especially from the US but I'm glad for a one off option to try boxes. I also felt the cover worked well with Pirate Queen face oil from @madamealchemie I really love this oil. It's nourishing and makes my face feel so soft. It is the perfect summer scent for the sea. I like to use it in the evening, particularly after a facemask. It's a fresh scent, very much makes me think of a sea breeze and it absorbs into the skin so nicely. Only a few drops are needed to get all the lovely benefits, especially after a hot and sweaty day! My skin usually suffers most in the winter, both seasonal issues and hormone issues, as well as having mild rosacea which gets slightly worse.
