TADA! MORE ALL!FATHER KRATOS HEADCANONS!!

I HAVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED ALL THE GOD OF WAR GAMES + LORE. THE COMICS, THE COOKBOOK, THE GAMES. so, with my new knowledge, i present a very special headcanon post.

* kratos has murals of the people he honoured in greece, including orkos and deimos. he had wanted to show the glimpses of hope of his bleak past to the realms to show things can, in fact, get better.

* he has a small festival in honour of faye! it's celebrated primarily in the old marketplaces and jötunhiem. the festival serves traditional jötnar food and it honours her victories and what she had done as the last guardian of the jötnar.

* kratos plays the lyre to mimir after many years of the head begging to hear some of his tunes. he can also play thz flute and a few other greek specific instruments.

* freya and kratos fly together when they are both falcons (as i hc'd kratos to learn 'falki' for more efficient travel). they both use this ability to watch the realms above and protect the people from potential threats.

* kratos decided to assist thrúd with her valkyrie training by being an outside source to her sparing to make sure that she begins to be more confident to fighting other people. she practically lives there now. (thank you to my friend who inspired this!! it's a huge thrúd fan.)

* when kratos blesses people, he speaks greek. he decided that his culture should be honoured despite his past. it was the gods fault, not what he was interested in as a younger man.

* his beard? oh, it is so long. it's so long and nice. very braidable!! he has a few flowers stuck in there thanks to thrúd, lunda, angrboda, sif and freya. they use it as an excuse to hang out.

* kratos, as allfather, finally takes naps. he has a little sleep. he has dreams about faye, but they're very positive after he realised that she would be very proud of him.

* when atreus comes home, the both cook together. it's one of the things they both enjoy and will continue you enjoy as father and son.

* kratos carries around helka like a baby because she makes him happy.

Laufey can’t remember a time before Thor. Logically, she knows that she had a life—a normal life, even. One where she laughed with her friends and spent time with her family and had all the petty, beautiful conflict that could only occur in times of peace. 

She can't remember it, though. After Odin betrayed the Jötnar, and after Thor—she had to lock away those idyllic memories for her own safety and sanity. If she thought too long about it, she would cry, and if she cried, she would die. 

There were once thousands of them, then hundreds, and then a handful. She wishes she could say it was because they were able to escape, but in reality, it was because she was too slow to save them: for who could outrace a lightning strike?

Twelve years into the slaughter, Odin breached the gates of Jötunheim. She’s still not sure how he did it—maybe Týr cracked under the torture, maybe Mimir deduced a solution to save his own skin, or maybe Odin figured it out on his own. Regardless, he found a crack, and he sent the storm inside. 

To her shame, Laufey was not there. But she dreamed of it. She felt the fire blistering her skin, and she choked on the ash of the Ironwood, the one safe place they had left, and when she jerked out of sleep, it was too late. She laid there, on her cot, staring at the sky, and realized that the only thing left she could claim was vengeance. 

Months later, worn and weary, she washed up on the shores of a decimated land. The few remaining locals were frightened to see her, and they were even more frightened when she finally was able to communicate her request. Still, they pointed her to an abandoned temple, more rubble than sanctuary. It was exactly as Týr described, if significantly more run down than in his stories. 

There, Laufey lit a fire, slit her palm, and let her blood drip into the flames. The smoke rose up, choking out the sky, and Laufey knelt down to pray to a foreign god. 

“I seek the Ghost of Sparta,” she said, into the quiet. “I need to slay a pantheon.”

Thinking about Faye and Kratos’ language differences. Kratos was wandering around the Norse wilderness for like 70 years before meeting Faye but was avoiding humans, so its impossible to say how much Norse he knew by then. 

But I love the idea of them creating some sort of rudimentary makeshift language of gestures/signs. Pointing at objects and saying thier respective words for it. Maybe creating a hybrid language of Greek and Norse like modern day Spanglish.

Kratos obviously eventually learns to speak Norse, but he definitely learned what was necessary to communicate and not much extra stuff. It would explain why he never uses contractions and why he sometimes doesn’t pick up on people’s sarcasm. Like people learning English not understanding figures of speech or idioms.

I know this is a mostly Ninjago blog, but I’ve had this one headcanon/scenario pop in my head recently and I think the God of War fandom will appreciate it.

So imagine way back when Kratos was living with Faye and he’s still working on himself (like he does in the comics). There’s still some things that triggers him and throws him back into his old memories but he tries to keep himself grounded in the moment.

Then a thunderstorm happens, it’s not uncommon and usually they’re never too bad but one time a lightning bolt struck too close and Kratos is jolted awake and thrown into the memories of Zeus. Now he knows that Zeus is no longer around, that he killed him with his bare hands, and that his body dissipated into nothingness in front of him. Hell, he even knows Zeus was just drowning in fear and it turned into rage during the battle between them. He knows all of that, but it doesn’t stop the memories and the guilt from coming and gnawing at him worse than the wolves do.

The only way he’s snapped out of it is by hearing his infant son crying because the lightning and thunder scared him awake.

Kratos at first is afraid to hold him. He contemplated if he should wake up Faye, but he decides she needed the rest and pushes the fear aside for Atreus and holds him anyways. I’m not sure he’d say anything but if he did, he definitely speaks in a low, stiff but as gentle of a voice as he could to him.

“It is just a storm, boy. It will pass.”

It’s been centuries since he’s comforted an infant but he tries nonetheless. Baby Atreus eventually calms down in his father’s arms, even falls asleep, and Kratos remains awake while the storm eventually passes.

Faye awakens later on. She notices her husband holding their son and she smiles at the rare moment of tenderness.

OKAY BUT... LAST OF US X GOD OF WAR (2018)... HEAR ME OUT.

i really love god of war and the last of us series (i need to watch more gameplay but i get the jist) so... have some headcanons where kratos is human and alive during the cortaceps virus and raising atreus, only to meet joel and ellie - considering naughty dog and santa monica studios vibe + i need to come up with more all-father kratos content.

* the way kratos came to america was fairly simple. kratos had moved from greece to iceland/norway to start a new life after a past filled with violence. atreus had suggested a holiday to the usa to take a break, only for the virus to absolutely ravage both countries. they were now stuck in the us. faye was originally with them but... y'know, she dies.

* kratos and atreus both have accents, as english is definitely not their first language. they struggled to navigate the states, but they knew that they need to kill, kill, kill. eventually they learn to read in english.

* ultimately, they found themselves with the fireflies, not knowing that they were corrupt. however, kratos and atreus were safe and did not question anything for a few years. atreus trained and kratos did more dangerous jobs in exchange for food. they worked closely with mel.

* when kratos was on a job, he met joel and ellie. they were both in danger but he decided to help them and begrudgingly introduced himself peacefully despite joel's apprehension.

* kratos had walked awhile with the duo, answering a few of ellie's questions before walking in the direction of the fireflies. joel was like "hey, didn't you know they're shitty...?" and kratos was like "what."

* joel explained what they did and ellie made the suggestion to join them in travelling. joel was neutral with the idea and kratos accepted, quickly returning home to get their things and atreus.

* they start living and travelling with the father-daughter duo and eventually start trusting each other.

* NOTES! : kratos is on the darker side of tanned and still has his tattoos, he still killed a bunch of people but it was a more "mob" style type thing. faye had turned into one of the infected and died by kratos' hands when she was in the clicker phase. joel and kratos are a hardcore slowburn - considering they both have troubled pasts.
