I think one of my favorite Princess Tutu memories is my friend A watching my DVDs on the lounge TV in college. When I walked in, she was on the episode with the girl who loved watering and talking to the flowers.

Freaking season two.

Granted, there are only 26 episodes of the whole show but still. She meant business and I was happy that she checked it out on a whim and was clearly having a good time.

So the stars deemed it okay to knit to Princes Tutu and I'm knitting and going, "Seriously, what beef did Drosselmeyer have with a random cat to make him decide, 'I'm gonna make this cat a ballet teacher obsessed with marriage and no woman will want him except for the ones he doesn't want'?"

Then I remembered it's Drosselmeyer.

He doesn't have beef. Just a thirst for chaos and tragedy. :P

1) It never gets old seeing Rue visibly warm up to Ahiru (before it went to hell).

2) Shout-out to my girl T in college who caught on right off the bat that Malen being influenced by the feeling of devotion to draw Rue and only Rue hinted at Mytho's true feelings for Rue.

One of the reasons Princess Tutu is still my favorite anime period is because I genuinely want to throttle Fakir in the beginning every time I rewatch. Like, boy, I know you love Mytho and want to protect him, and I know you'll learn to love Ahiru and I know you'll change for the better and I'll end up falling for you and your character arc all over again bUT FIND SOME CHILL.

You know what else doesn't get old with CCS rewatches? Pinpointing when Syaoran starts falling for Sakura. 😂

Say what you want about the dub but I think Chris Patton did great voicing Fakir as he's forced to write that horrible scene. Felt that pain.

And Drosselmeyer can still catch these hands. Feet too.

I'm still floored by this development 13 years later. When Edel showed her that courage stone and said it was a gem made of two, Ahiru thought it meant her and Mytho working together (against Fakir). HA! And her realizing that she should probably tell Mytho about her being a duck? Double ha. Not only did she end up working with Fakir (with courage being they both have a tragic fate that they wish to overcome as well as protecting Mytho) but she had to reveal her secret to him, the source of her insecurities.

It just amazes me that the last person she'd ever imagine trusting, let alone liking, is the one who will end up seeing everything about her and accept her for who she is.

I freaking can't.

I love this show.

Save for Rue and Fakir's dynamic, the core four love each other so much in different ways and whenever I rewatch I'm a mess in different parts. 😭

#faye rewatches princess tutu #mytho smiling and thanking fakir and fakir being...him handles the affection the best he can at this point in the story #calling him an idiot XP #when you think about it it is sad that neither rue or fakir could handle mytho showing them affection in the beginning #because it meant change and it frightened them #protect these kids
