Any thoughts on my man Miklan?

Oh Miklan... well, how do I put this...

Well, on the one side, I feel bad for him to have been treated like he was useless for not having a crest. But that doesn't excuse what he did to Sylvain, and then what he did in the story of Houses.

But ... in Hopes, I do think it's a lost opportunity that he died like that, as part of the plot without us getting to learn more about his character, and with the possibility to have him and Sylvain have supports, even if they were going to kill him off.

Has a whole I have mixed feelings on how he is written and on what the character did, but that is mainly due to how the writers of Houses were too ambitious with every character that is introduced. In Miklan's case, I have problem telling whether the game wants me to hate him, pity him, think he might be redeeming .. yeah

Gautier family anon needs to accept that any form of lust for the dad characters in FE3h is inherently freaky. They all have 2, 3 character traits if generous so lusting after them is a purely carnal affair. No one WANTS waldemar, they want spindly old dads

That being said I would bed Matthias Gautier as a ploy to kill him for both of his sons sake and I deserve the freaky emblem tag for it

Miklan wasn't removed from the family for not having a crest actually. He was disinherited but still part of the family. He was disowned after years and years of trying to kill Sylvain and being a bandit.

I still don't really like how FE16 tried to "uwu" Miklan's story to make Supreme Leader have a point about the crust system - as you said, if possession of a crest, rather lack of, was the only reason why someone would be removed from family, Miklan would have been ousted from the Gautier fam the second Sylvain was born, but it wasn't the case.

Dishinerited yes, but not disowned, and we know several characters (Rufus, Ingrid's bros, Gustave!) who have "crested" siblings, and yet aren't kicked away from their houses or left with a loaf of bread and a glass of water.

But FE16 - at least the spoken lines by the characters, because Hresvelg Grey - completely elude this to harp on the "crust system", and as some people pointed out, between "first son gets the title" and "first child with a crest gets the title" rules, I can't really say which one is worse lol

we know how it happened in jugdral, in a verse where Azmur picks Seliph as the next king of Granvalle because he's Deedee's firstborn son regardless of his minor Naga Blood, without Julia, the world is fucked the second Manfroy reads the "Loptyr" bedtime story to Julius

i think rodrigue and matthias learned a bunch of languages together in their teen years for shits and giggles so now whenever they’re together they’ll start talking in horrific amalgamations of various languages

like i’m talking almyran grammar with dagdan accents and duscurian words one minute to then having full blown conversations with words from fodlan brigid and morfis

as a result sylvain felix glenn and miklan could all speak all of those languages…. kind of

It was fun drawing these brothers I don’t know if I would have ever tackled drawing Miklan on my own. But I’m pretty happy with how he turned out!
