I just... Wow. This was an amazing story. Beware that it is possibly very triggering, because of rape, assault, violence, and general bigotry. But perhaps because of all of that, you get a story that is almost painful in its reality, and it is all the more loveable for that.

Who can they really trust? (Disclaimer: This story depicts fledglings consuming honey for the nourishment of their undeveloped graces. Human babies cannot consume honey, so please do not feed it to your infants. This is fiction.)

Oh. My. God. I admit that I was skeptical at the beginning about this story, but let me tell you, it sucked me in. Sometimes, you run across a story that has wonderful OCs that you get attached to. This is one of those. And of course, the baby is adorable.

This is perfect. I can't speak for the accuracy of the information and feelings given about asexuals/asexuality, but I enjoyed this fic nonetheless.

Sam leaves Dean's laptop logged in to some app called "TutorMate" and Dean meets his brother's tutor. Cas helps him with his own work and they strike up a friendship. Before long Dean finds himself growing attached to the cute, clever Cas and flirtatiously suggests they go on a date if he applies himself to his college work. Cas agrees, but Dean discovers his online friend is not quite what he expected. (Or, in which Dean thinks he's met a cute girl and finds out he's actually met a cute boy.)

FAQs: Accessibility Edition

Recently, some of you have been asking about our website and whether or not everyone will be able to access it. With the demo right around the corner (seriously. expect a date announcement within the next few weeks!) we figured it was time for you all to see how much hard work our coders put into making an enjoyable navigation experience. Without further ado, a Q and A with one of our coders, Kaykao!

Q: Is Feranix mobile-friendly?

A: Yes!

Q: Is Feranix dyslexia-friendly?

A: There's no general consensus on which fonts, if any, are better for dyslexia. But the general consensus on which fonts are easier for anyone to read is that simpler is better; which is why we have fairly big sans-serif fonts for most things on the site, with a simple serif font being reserved for headings or buttons.

Q: Is Feranix colorblind-friendly?

A: Yes. Being colorblind-friendly largely involved the color palette picked, specifically making sure there's enough contrast between the text and background colors that it can be read even with various forms colorblindness. For that, we have the WCAG color contrast standard. Nearly all of the text color combinations on feranix currently meet WCAG AA standards. As the layout changes and gets upgraded in the future, we hope to bump it up to WCAG AAA if possible!

Q: Is Feranix screenreader-friendly?

A: Yes. Being screen reader friendly is a pretty big topic, but it comes down to how you structure the html. For one thing, the page is explicitly labelled to be in english, so hopefully no screen readers will read it with wonky pronunciation. For another, a lot of care has been taken to use appropriate html tags to label the major sections of the layout (banner, navigation, sidebar, main content, footer). All images on site that are visible to screen readers have alt text, we try to keep each page's markup as simple as possible, and we try not to overuse tables (though that could still use some work). Finally, the very first thing in the markup is a link that skips to the main content of the page so screen readers don't have to muddle through the nav and the sidebar every time a new page loads.

Q: Anything you’d like to tell us about making Feranix accessible?

A: I spent so much time making sure Fera was accessible, you don’t even know; I swear that was like half the time I took making the layout, researching this stuff. It just makes me angry that most sites don’t account for disabilities, you know? Web developers are often told to write their html so people who still use Internet Explorer 7 can use it. They're literally told to accomodate people who haven’t updated their browser in a whole decade. But no one tells you to design for the significantly larger number of people who use screen readers or have colorblindness or something?
