It is with incredible exhaustion and great excitement I announce I've finished a pretty cool mod for my fellow horse lovers.

Plenty of you have probably used Zwierze's horse mod, and maybe some of you have used my better manes and tails mod. Horse Improved combines the two mods into one, giving you the flowing mane and tail on a horse thats actually horse shaped.

Big thanks to @zwierzodudle for their mod and for being cool with me using it for this!

The mod affects all horses on the unicorn and pegasus model. Let me know if you run into any issues with the hair because I'm not exactly a weight painting expert (they took me days rip my sanity).

📢 Attention FFXIV Mod Makers! 📢

Hey folks,

I'm looking to commission two mods to better reflect how I see my characters in game, and am wanting to reach out to see if anyone in the community would be willing to take on some paid commission work!

I'm predominantly after a mashup of in-game assets to create C'arta's in character hair- hair 105 as the base, but replacing the braid at the back with an oversized bun, two small braids and a celeste green feather.

Here's the rough sketch of what I'm after.

Something else I'm also after is a small gold nose stud, like in the below image, for Miqo'te female face 3. C'arta's piercing is on her left side, in a slightly higher spot than shown in the example.

invisible body/gear help please!

Hey FFXIV modders. I've tried asking twice in the penumbra discord and have gotten crickets in response, so I'm going to try my hand here.

Long story short, I installed the testing penumbra, did the DT upgrade through TT, and gotten the newest body mods for bibo and yab. The only problem is, vanilla gear / smallclothes are now invisible, like so (this is the reaper 100AF, not modded at all)

I have been told that it was the material reassignment not doing it correctly, thus the invisible. So I started over in TT, disabled the body mods and now we're here:

Short of uninstalling Penumbra, I have no idea what the fix is. Equipping modded gear worked just fine! But vanilla is all blank and invisible.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Vanilla Modding Community

It took me a bit to have the time to set up, but I finally went ahead with that vanilla modding community. The scope is a bit expanded from the original poll idea so let me tell you about it.

This community is for any vanilla+ mods. Vanilla+ is a term I snatched from Minecraft modding, basically meaning it builds on the vanilla game and doesn't seem out of place in it. Any vanilla style mod is welcome, though the no body overhauls rule is there like suggested in my original poll. As a general rule, mods need to fit the vanilla style and be applicable to vanilla characters. Things like mount edits and hairstyles are welcome too, not just clothes for vanilla bodies (though I'm definitely hoping to see some of those!).

I've tossed a couple of my own mods in there to start things off, if you have any questions feel free to ask me. And hope this doesn't implode bc I don't have THAT much community management experience lol.

(So I’m part of the VC server but I’m being anon for my own sanity) How exactly did you do your modding journey? I feel a bit anxious about being here when I’m asking for too much help and generally struggling A Lot. It’s probably because I have zero to no experience with 3D stuff and Blender in general but I would like to hear some points on what I can do.

Hi anon, I 100% understand. It's hard to get started. (Also, as helpful as the VC community can be, I think the server would definitely benefit from some better organization of helpful beginner resources!)

I recommend watching Ezo's guide (and bookmarking it for later) if you haven't already. It covers all the major steps to creating a mashup, but even if you're not mashing anything up (just editing gear, for example) it will also cover a lot of the most important functions and tools in Blender - AND the export/import process with Textools, which is an entire beast itself.

The XIV Mod Guide site has a ton of helpful links. The Blender category is especially helpful. https://www.xivmods.guide/tag/blender/

You might also want to check out Modding 101 (yes I know, Yet Another Discord Server) because they have a SUPER big collection of guides, a lot of which will be way over your head and unnecessary as a beginner, but still a good place to go to look things up.

This is all kinda vague, please don't hesitate to DM me for more specific pointers - even if I can't help you directly I might be able to suggest more helpful guides etc if I know what your current project is! Also, don't give up! This is a skill like any other and it takes time and practice to get good. We all started somewhere.

Hey people who used Bibo+ Mars as their body mod!

Idk if you're aware but Cultist, who made it, has removed Mars since they have now made YAMasc, another flat chested body. It's no longer possible to download it, and it will not be updated for dt.

That being said, YAMasc doesn't have a bulky option like Mars did (and it just... doesn't look the same to me), so I made Mars DT compat for Fornax at least.

That is to say, if you want to keep using Mars for your oc, feel free to dm me, I'll send you a file. I can't post it on xma against Cultist's wishes, but I can give "private" upgrades.

Got around to taking pictures of our glams together, and mostly, I got to take pics of Vyd's glam. So happy with how her stone skin texture came out. Maybe in the future I'll ads an eye mod to save on photo editing time...
