arrive, enjoy two to four songs by spellbound, partake in the refreshments while secluding herself in the corner, unless pulled out of said corner by her friends. that was her plan for the evening. melinda was out of her element, she dressed up more than she usually did and the heels were highly uncomfortable, even with the cushioning charm. however, pushing herself out of her comfort zone was on her new years resolution list. so here she was.

being essentially outed on a heritage she hadn't even known she'd held mere days before a massive school event certainly hadn't been on maisie's 2023 bingo card. it had led to two nights of researching her family to confirm it herself, but the evidence was there. she was one sixteenth veela on her father's side. it was a discovery that resulted in the likely drastic decision to dye her hair, but the blonde was all too indicative of the veela ancestry she wasn't sure she was ready to acknowledge despite now having to. so with freshly darkened locks and an all black ensemble to match, she took a deep breath and entered the great hall, eyes scanning the crowd as if daring someone to approach her.

cedric is drained both mentally and physically. his hair doesn't sit oh so perfect like it has in the past, his clothes aren't in pristine condition they are battered and torn in places on the sleeve, his skin more pale than before. sneaking out to the forbidden forest to practice spells and dueling skills has taken its toll. it hasn't gone unnoticed by the professors either. cedric is always staying after class now trying to pry more information from them and getting told to stop working ahead of the curriculum. cedric is pretty sure moody knows exactly what he is doing, especially when cedric is trying to get him to talk about the "good ole days" during the first wizarding war and how he trained. moody seems to just give a look i know but here's the answer type of look as he begins to divulge exactly what cedric is looking for as if moody was once there trying to do the same thing all those years ago. this would be so much easier if cedric had someone on his side wanting to prep for whatever is coming but then again no one else was there. no one else was in the maze and felt that darkness. no one else looked harry in his eyes before he grabbed the cup. that look will forever be seared into cedric's mind. one night right before dusk while cedric is finishing up a new disarming spell he hears footsteps coming up on him. he grabs his bag and stands in a more defensive position and shouts out " who is out there."?

Having just finished up with class and, conveniently, with a free chunk in his schedule, Ant had hung back, allowed for the small crowd to dwindle before going and taking his exit. Stepping through the entrance, he noticed someone else loitering outside on the path and soon sidled up next to them. "I was lookin' for some company, one tha' might want 'ta join me for a short stroll 'round the greenhouses." He jerked his thumb back, in the direction of greenhouse six and seven, the ones tucked further back— all the while with his trusted lighter clutched into his palm."'Ye know, get a bit of fresh air. You down?"

all graham had been hearing about the last few days was just how great the spellbound were. their mere return to the stage had drawn a gaggle of students closer, rabid for a closer look. graham seemed to have the opposite reaction, given when the first song started to play, his boots led him step by step further from the stage "what a fucking headache," he'd mumbled as he met the buffet. of anything that might remedy his foul mood, food was the most accessible and so a pumpkin pasty found itself in his hand, then his mouth rather quickly.

"ravenclaw's kicking ass this year." dae noted as he watched the students make their way back to the castle. he was sure that had to have been the shortest game he had ever seen and he couldn't help but be impressed by the ravenclaw seeker for pulling that off. "tell ya what though, i feel a lot better about our loss to ravenclaw now." he truly did not play for the win, it was just fun to play for dae but the hufflepuffs at least were able to put some points up and that caused him to be happy and proud for his team in this moment.

as pansy took a step into the brightly colored candy shop, the bell chimed. the intense fragrance of sweets hitting her like a brick to her senses. it appeared that honeydukes being her first stop was not as original as she had thought, the building was packed with students. the snake slid through the crowd, heading straight to her usual sweet of choice. "you can wait. or i can hex you, pick now or i'll pick for you." she snapped as someone stepped in front of her outstretched hand that had been reaching for a sugar quill.

"do you like books... or reading?" astoria turned to the person who was sitting directly next to her, she wasn't going to let them answer as words continued to spew out, "specifically, muggle books are quite enchanting!" she rattled on with excitement, waving her hands around as she spoke. "i brought a few with me from home. they're really scarce in the library." she sighed heavily at the outrageous supply of muggle books in the library; astoria was such an unfortunate pureblood in these dire times! the library maybe had four, dependent on how observant she was. "would you like to borrow one? little women is really good."

"pause right there!" romilda commanded, those warm eyes of hers cast sharply upon one of her fellow students. "i need your opinion. like, time is dire." her lower lip had already started to push out, a pout setting into place, yearning to captivate the audience before her. and while that attention was held, romilda seized the opportunity to snag the two books at her side and hold them up for display: both romances, one a vampiric tale, the other a werewolf. "which one?"

giving it was her seventh year, mel had a lot hand in different pots. she had a lot to do before she left school and entered the world, her parents were already preparing her spot in the family apothecaries. she was happy to follow in her parent's footsteps even if it wasn't exactly her passion to go into the apothecary business, but she knew she could dabble in other practices outside. all of that meant she had a lot of projects going on outside of her classes, which is why she was currently in greenhouse three observing the alihotsy she has just finished nursing. "bloody hell. where did i put them?" she muttered as she looked around, unable to find her gloves.

the sun was rising, gently coloring the sky with a soft light and sid found her way to the clock tower. she's been up for hours, waking up in the middle of the night and after great effort at trying to fall back to sleep, decided to wander the castle. it was so different than the way it was during the day, she preferred it at night, less people and less noise. as the blonde looked over the old courtyard, the sound of footsteps pulled her out of her thoughts and she slowly turned around. "oh good, just what i need, some company." she sighed as she spoke softly as she took a look to see who it was.

there was something familiar and intimate about a book, even if you had never read it before. alice had skipped out on all other festivities, in favor of the familiar bookshelves of tomes & scrolls. it was a little busier than usual due to the festival, but it was comforting none the less. unsure how long she had had company, alice turned around to find someone lurking behind her. "oh, i'm sorry." she said, a look of surprise washing over her features. "was i in your way?"

hi friends! in a very shocking turn of events (pun intended!), i've got a bit of a history lesson for you all this month. we all know and love our little village of hogsmeade, every student's favorite weekend getaway during the semester, but who knows about its founding? my guess would mostly be my fellow hufflepuffs, as the founder was one of our very own! hengist of woodcroft settled hogsmeade sometime in the 11th century to be an all wizarding village free from the persecution of muggles. it's also the only all wizarding village in britain to this day. a feat worth a weekend filled with celebration in this journalist's opinion! so how about we get onto the fun stuff?

celebrated every november, hogsmeade's founder's festival includes a number of special booths and festivities put on by the entire village. some highlights of this years festival will include an open mic at the three broomsticks, face painting at scrivenshaft's quill shop, cocoa at madam puddifoot's tea shop, mini tree decorating at dogweed and deathcap, and fireworks provided by zonko's joke shop on sunday evening!! each shop will also be featuring a variety of discounts to celebrate good ol' hengist, so be sure to take advantage for the upcoming holidays!!

"don't look, it's not finish yet!" melinda exclaimed to the person next to her as she tried her best to shield her tree using her arms, only to give up, chuckling as she went back to decorating her tree. "ok, you can look, but you've got to trust the process." with just a quick glance in their direction, she tried her best to give a serious look before then directing her attention back to the array of decorations in front of her.

halloween. a night known for ghosts, ghouls, and all things spooky; wix very much included. exactly why it's become such a massive celebration at hogwarts year after year. duh! this year's party will feature a costume contest voted on by your fellow students, so make sure you dress to impress! this spooktacular event will also have live music by none other than THE spellbound!! if you think i'm not excited, you are so sorely mistaken! read between the exclamation marks, people! who knows, maybe their next big scandal will result from the evening's festivities! one can only dream.

now onto the boring bit.

we expect everyone to be on their very best behavior, lest you be immediately asked to leave and not allowed to return. drunken and/or violent behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and you will be forcibly escorted from the premises if necessary. blah blah blah... ugh we really need a cooler supervisor.

"if you don't mind, i'd really prefer to just focus on my work..." she finally spoke up to the person across from her. she had struggled to leave her mother after the holidays but her mother insisted she go back. melinda was using all of her energy to get through her classes and assignments, trying her best to keep it there rather than thinking of anything else.
