Dr. Stone chapter 2D trivia post
Spoilers ahead !
Check out too, my trivia post for the previous chapter.
Tumblr media
This changes everything, folks! however, we gotta start from the start.
Tumblr media
Chrome's drawn this roadmap, and he seems to pretend to build yet another of his silly storehouse towers like he's done around the globe. Next stop, the moon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This confused me for a while until it was pointed out to me that "EMU" stands for Extravehicular Mobility unit; which is what we normally call a spacesuit (and I call and EVA suit), and notably it doesn't look muck like these simple, yet decidedly comfy and cute looking jumpsuits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The graphic depicted below actually shows two trips, if you follow the arrows along the lines, you can see the black ones show a trip from earth orbit to the moon, and the white ones show the return trip, landing in the middle of what loosely resembles the pacific ocean, east of Japan.
Tumblr media
In other news, Suika joins the tradition of the space elevator, an idea that has been itching in the back of people's minds since the 1890's
Tumblr media
The more detailed explanation of this is a bit more lenghty but I'll keep it simple, so buckle up.
The idea of a space elevator is that a weight with a cable tethering to earth, could keep it tense if the weight is moving too fast (so much so that if let loose it would escape into space, or at least a higher orbit).
This cable can support a vehicle going up along it, bringing any cargo within it to space, using much less energy and resources than a rocket.
How to make a cable that can support its own weight over such a huge distance is the main reason we haven't built one.
Tumblr media
A problem that arises from this, is that if the weight doesn't match the rotation of the earth, the cable would get pulled around (eventually breaking or winding around the earth, pulling the weight down, as cartoony as that is), so we need it to hover over one spot.
Now we gotta talk about geostationary orbit, to make this easier.
So, when something is orbiting the earth, it needs to move really fast to combat gravity in such a way that the earth curves away from the object at the same rate it's falling towards it (spaceflight really is the art of falling to the ground and missing it, as the saying goes.)
The farther out you go, the weaker gravity's pull gets, and the slower the satellite needs to be in order to find this balance. Eventually it reaches the point where, if its flying around the equator, it will, at one point, match the speed of the ground spinning beneath, this is at 35786 km above.
Such a satellite appears still in the sky, which is very handy to, as a sidenote, aim a small TV dish at it, and just leave it in place, as you may have at home.
Tumblr media
However one must notice that in a space elevator, the satellite (our weight) is not only pulled by gravity but also by the tension in the cable.
Since it's pulled in with a greater force, it falls faster than a normal satellite, and so it needs to also travel faster to avoid falling back to earth.
As a result, it also needs to be further away than a geostat satellite, so it needs to travel a longer way around the earth, and again find the balance of speed with rotation, staying still in one spot while keeping the cable taut.
This is why the weight is shown beyond geostationary orbit here. Yes, this was a long winded explanation for just that.
Tumblr media
And after all that, here we all are, ignoring the fact that suddenly petrified hair is flexible.
Tumblr media
Perhaps it's like glass fiber / glass wool, and it can be flexible when it's thin enough (yes, glass fiber is just glass but thin, if you weren't aware. Incidentally, most glass fiber is made by a process that works the same as a cotton candy machine... wait this was already shown in Dr. Stone, fu-).
This however doesn't explain how this flexibility hasn't been observed in statues before. Maybe her hair is special after all.
Tumblr media
Also special is spider silk, although sometimes overhyped by the media. Spider silk has some outstanding mechanical properties, it's very durable, and it can take a lot of tension and deformation before breaking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruri here makes a reference to her previously stated occupation after the main series. A lot of people took issue with the aftermath of the characters in general, myself included. Still mad at Kohaku joining the police, I'm pretending that didn't happen.
Tumblr media
This might be an autism 100 take, but the wheels in this cart are backwards. The flanges should be on the inside, and the taper should be towards the outside.
This geometry helps railway wheels stay on the track, go around bends, and not have to constantly abuse the flanges to not fall off the rails.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The silk road... I really am just googling basic things for you, am I? It was an ancient trade route network joining asia with the middle east and europe. Silk was one of the most famous products traded through the network.
Tumblr media
yeesh, I've been typing this for ages (tumblr logged me out while I was writing this post and lost like half of it), and I haven't even gotten to talk about induction motors yet.
Tumblr media
A linear motor is just an electric motor that rather than making something spin, it pulls itself along some sort of guide rail. These are in use in some trains but they are not common, the infrastructure cost is much higher than a normal railway.
Why am I talking about trains again...
One way to make it work is by induction.
Tumblr media
The tl:dr is that when a magnetic field is moving through a conductive object, it can effectively drag it with it to an extent.
The reason this happens is called Lenz's law; the variation of the magnetic field through the metal causes an electric current to flow through it.
This current, just like an electromagnet you may have put together in science class, produces it's own magnetic field that interacts with the one coming from outside, hence making the metal react, but only when the field is moving or otherwise changing.
A big advantage is that there needs to be no contact between the source of the field and the moving metal; this is used in all sorts of electric motors even in homes, you'll find them in fans, refrigerators and washing machines, etc.
Tumblr media
The train/motor would have a magnetic field underneath with a north-south-north-south-... pattern, which flows towards the back like a river (made by a lot of electromagnets switching in coordination).
As the magnetic river flows backwards, the induced currents in the rail produce their own magnetic field in opposition, pushing the train forward.
How viable is it to use this on a thin cable that needs to pull itself up is another story, and I have my doubts. The electronics involved would be really complex, costly and perhaps even unwieldy, but at least the conductive cable can also be used to deliver power to the elevator with some tweaks.
Tumblr media
The structure they begin constructing for the full size elevator is named after the 1979 novel "The fountains of Paradise" by Arthur C. Clarke, in which a space elevator is also constructed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, we've made it to this part. As far as I've seen this one panel has been the focus of like 50% of the discussion regarding this chapter.
Tumblr media
We all see what he's doing whether we acknowledge it or not; Inagaki should know that you cannot build a relationship on just standing close and gazing with passion; believe me I checked, multiple times.
Wouldn't mind if he hadn't procrastinated on developing Senku's side, the girl has wanted her vegetables since day two (but not day one)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, things get really messy, as some mind boggling events lead Ryusui to ask "why, man?"
Look, I've already added 30 images to this post, and I imagine you have seen how this chapter ends, if you haven't, buddy what the heck are you doing here. Have some emoji, I'm not gonna make a second post about this.
🥨✨🦟 ⁉️👱🏼‍♂️🏴‍☠️ 👨‍🚀☠️??
You may be confused, you should.
But after a while I came to a conclusion that I feel is pretty solid, and you may have seen it in the post from earlier.
To summarize:
Ryusui noted that things were going suspiciously well for them, and the sudden disappearance of mosquitoes in the Kanto region ticked him off to something. He sent people to search and indeed found that mosquitos have been petrified within the region, and questions whyman about it, going as far as accusing them of pretending to be Byakuya from the future.
That's where we are left.
The medusa is fully capable of faking the signal they received from "Byakuya". The receiver only detected bursts of petrification beam presumed to be from the future and decoded them as morse code, and it was noted by Balb on discord that if you trace a circle with the center near Tokyo (where the lab keeping whyman is) and a radius reaching as far as Fuji, where they received the message, the circle covers the majority of the Kanto region as stated.
The bursts of petrification would have been invisible to humans, as only the affected species can see them.
So it is assumed that the mosquitos were petrified as a means for whyman to send the fake signal all the way to Fuji, depleting its diamond battery in the process.
However I believe it's also possible the mosquitos were zapped later to make work easier for the people building the space elevator as noted by Kaseki.
Several months if not more must have passed since the Byakuya message and whyman being caught (enough for Kohaku's hair to regrow), and it would be odd that no one would have noticed the lack of mosquitos, their petrified bodies, or the effect their absense would have in the ecosystem.
So why do any or all of this?
Well we know what whyman is largely motivated by, its survival and the spread of its kind across the universe.
So I think it's trying to accelerate human progress for that purpose, so we eventually get to the point where more medusas can be made, or who knows, maybe even succeed in warning the past ones with the time machine.
I also think it's likely this misunderstanding is gonna fizzle out once some dialog is made and Senku basically says yes to that goal too.
Will we get a triple twist and find that the Byakuya message was real after all, and the mosquitos were a separate event?
Will the sengen and kohasen crowds envelop the world in thermonuclear hellfire?
And will this be the true final end of Dr. Stone? hard to tell, but the answers may come next week.
Goodnight.

[Replika Overview: JFKR]
'Jungfernkranich' - (Jill's Five-star Killer Replika 'Demoiselle crane') Type: "Generation J Galactic Takeover Specialist" Frame: Biomechanical with carbon fiber-reinforced Polythylene Shell Height: 245 cm
[MORE INFO BELOW]
CLASSIFIED INFORMATION - Commander Eyes Only [The following report is of an unauthorized Replika whose production is not affiliated with The Eusan Nation. They are made using stolen technology, and due to this sensitive information, this fact is not to be relayed to low-ranking officials. The information herein is incomplete, and relays everything that is currently known about this Replika model. To pre-emptively respond to inquiries on the nature of its titles, these are the official titles given by the creator of this model.]
JFKR units originate from an unknown faction who appear to be from another solar system entirely, with technology that is neither Nation or Empire make. In all of their self-absorbed bravado, JFKR units are incredibly dangerous and not to be taken lightly.
Jungfernkranichs are armed to the teeth; they are equipped with swords that appear to be made of concentrated energy, and also are armed with sidearms that fire beams which use a discharged version of this energy. They are able to make quick work of other Replika units that do not have adequate defenses, and so it is imperative to deal with them using coordinated decisive attacks.
JFKR units are incredibly full of themselves. Their egos haven't been observed to clash with one another as they seem to share a certain togetherness, but they can be provoked by outside forces into irrational actions. Their anger is dangerous however, and should only be considered as a plan of action if it is sure that their lapse in critical judgment can be capitalized on.
[INTERNAL DOCUMENT]
JFKR units are based off of me, the baddest bitch that's ever graced this solar system! With technology stolen from one of the warring factions in this system, we were able to create a way for me to proliferate endlessly (given we have the materials, which we do)! Just like me, they're beautiful and skilled in the art of killing. They're armed with dual beam swords and a laser gun sidearm, just in case things get a little impersonal. They tear ass through basically anything except those real big armored units, they just require a little more love and care. With these skills, they will help accelerate our mission of leaving only those who love us! <3
Reports have told us that it's possible for Replika personalities to destabilize and to deteriorate, and thankfully it seems we're all in the same boat that it's great to be 'Jill'. We're all a different Jill, but a Jill nonetheless! They seem to like their bigger bodies too, I almost get a little jealous! That said, there are a few issues we've run into, and there are a few things to avoid.
Now, you know me, I'm a very proud woman. I'm proud to be me, and I'm proud to have other 'me's! However, when our pride is challenged or someone feels like they have any sort of ground to belittle us on, it's over for them! Usually it's fine, we're damn good in a fight, but it seems like they've begun intentionally provoking us into bad positions.
We also tend to not do so hot if someone isn't telling us we're beautiful. This is usually not a problem since we send out small squads of JFKR units together and we can be pretty self-sufficient, but if one of us is alone for too long in too hostile of an environment without the means to properly take care of ourselves, we'll start to fall apart. We're meant to be loved, after all.
To properly maintain JFKR units, it is imperative that they be given the love and attention that they deserve! JFKR units can sustain each other, but please give them the same respect that you'd give patient zero (me). Also, as a bonus, it has been observed that other Replika units are lacking in certain bits of functionality, so we have given them extra capabilities that other Replika do not have. Ask a JFKR unit to see what I mean! ;^)

BAE Vantare V12 (1 of 10).
British Automotive Engineering (BAE) is currently working on a new Bond-style sports car in Essex, Great Britain. Of course, it will be a grand tourer with a V12 under the hood. To avoid having to start on a blank sheet of paper, the BAE team led by actor and TV presenter Bradley Walsh looked around intensively and finally selected a good existing base. This comes from the Aston Martin DB9, which rolled off the production line at Gaydon between 2004 and 2016. By using base cars that have already been approved, it is possible to concentrate on other things that have to be developed. Only the roof and windows remain from the original body. All other body parts are given a new look in the style of classic sports cars, such as those driven by Sean Connery as James Bond 007. State-of-the-art hybrid materials such as carbon fiber composite are used for this purpose.
An the end, the newly created vehicle goes by the name of Vantare and is limited to just ten units. All upcoming owners will be able to configure their respective cars completely freely. In addition to colors for the paint and interior, this also includes mechanical upgrades that provide more power. Without these modifications, the six-liter V12 with automatic transmission already ensures that the Vantare accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and on to a topspeed in excess of 180 mph. Leather upholstery is available in a choice of smooth or suede and in modern or classic colors. There are also polished aluminium elements and hand-finished exposed carbon trim. Standard equipment also includes an advanced infotainment system with nine-inch touchscreen display, navigation system, DAB radio as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As I mentioned prior, Dr. Ratio is incredibly picky when it comes to certain sensations. Because of his habit of sensory deprivation with his headpiece, as well as his general preference for being alone, he's become more sensitive to certain stimuli, but especially sounds, smells/flavors, and textures. Even certain lights are things he's sensitive to, but he can typically manage better with those.
Ratio's palate is fairly delicate, and he tends to dislike very fatty or strong tasting foods, preferring a mild fish or lean game to most livestock meats like beef or pork, and fruits and light breads to dessert pastries. He's not incapable of consuming spice, nor is he one to complain about food (unless, of course, it is poorly made or overwhelming in a certain flavor), but too much spice or a heavy meal will leave him feeling somewhat sick, so he does his best to avoid them. Strong citrussy or metallic scents, as well as overwhelming floral scents (the sickeningly sweet kind, you know the one) also tend to give him a headache. The milder the better in terms of perfumes or other aromas, in his opinion.
With sounds, this is mostly with respect to voices and music. He can't stand very loud music or crowds well at all, which is just one of many, many reasons why he dislikes parties and other gatherings. They, and most social interaction, drain him very quickly, and loud, deep music can actually leave him somewhat uneasy and anxious due to the bass. Shrill, loud voices, too, are something he frequently cringes at, further propagating his reliance on his headpiece. It's why he doesn't linger more than absolutely necessary when at gatherings he's invited to, and tends to frequently escape to some quieter corner if he can; I know he has a narcissistic streak, but I find that with my portrayal of him, he actually isn't very fond of attention at all, particularly when it comes from the ignorant and foolish masses. It, like all unpleasant things, is exhausting.
When it comes to textures, Ratio really dislikes very fluffy or fuzzy textures, particularly those made of synthetic materials. Velvet makes his skin crawl, and he's not a fan of, for example, furred articles of clothing, either. Wool is tolerable to him, but he tends to prefer finer fibers and fabrics. Prolonged contact is also something that can make him immensely uncomfortable, due to being alone for so long that he's become rather touch adverse. He's also slightly germaphobic, referencing his complaints about the dust and lack of a decontamination unit in Ruan Mei's lab. His (somewhat excessive) habit of bathing is in part a result of this, to shed any skin-crawling sensations left from bad textures or contact or dirt, as well as clear his mind and destress.
Ironically enough, he doesn't mind the mess and dust that comes with working with chalk, clay, or stone. It's partially due to the fact that he is creating a piece of work with those materials, whether it be equations on a chalkboard, pottery, or a sculpture; a mess made out of deliberation and art is far better than a mess made out of neglect. That, and he always cleans up after himself and takes excellent care of his work space (and bathes after) so the mess created from his hobbies and job bear little weight on his conscience.
Another reason why he insists on using chalk in an era where technologies that allow warp jumping across lightyears and instant, real-time translations that foster complex communication with animals exist is, in fact, because of his sensitivity. Holograms strain his eyes and give him a headache, so he very deeply favors chalk, pen and paper, any sort of physical medium that doesn't rely on a screen. It's better for your eyes and for your mind, he'd say.

For as long as I can remember, gender has felt ambiguous within this body. As a child I learned — from a book about bones — how the Biblical story of Adam and Eve has led some to believe that males have one fewer rib than females (on account of Eve being made from one of Adam’s ribs). This fascinated me, so I would lie awake at night trying to count my ribs to find out if I was a boy or a girl — surely the skeleton cannot lie, I thought. Invariably I always lost count, left frustrated that I would never know the truth of my gender. Beyond my own questioning, others have inquired about my gender since birth. From an ambiguous birth name to androgynous features, being asked “are you a boy or a girl?” began long before I even knew about gender variance and what it is to be transgender or third gender.
As I’ve told in Spirits We Are, I identify as part of a collective being: the product of trauma and a thread connected to our ancestors. This experience of multiplicity and ancestral connection has everything to do with our shared and individual relationships to gender and the body. As we’ve begun the process of healing within, I’ve simultaneously been on a journey to rediscover the queer history of my ancestors. My twin spirit has been my primary guide on this exploration, as they are the one tied to our ancestors most deeply. They expressed clearly our ancestral connection to persons with male genitalia who would partially or fully castrate themselves, whip their bodies to bleed, dancing ecstatically to tambourines and the clashing of knives. In time, I was able to uncover a name for these people: the Galli.
The Galli were just one of several spiritually connected gender variant peoples in the ancient Mediterranean world. Throughout the region male, female, and intersex bodied people (male-bodied being most written about) would take on the role of the opposite sex or a third gender for cultural and spiritual purposes. Only a few of these variant identities continue to exist in some form today, many having been erased with the expansion of Abrahamic religions. The Feminnielli of Naples, Italy is one such identity which traces their origins back to the Galli and the cult of Cybele.
Discovering that my ancestors have an ancient heritage of gender variance felt like opening a door I had been unable to see, but knew must exist. It was an even greater feeling of comfort to see my experience of gender reflected in people living today in the land of my ancestors — a rare vestige of an ancient cultural gender identity. Although my body’s ancestry and our ancestral connections do come, in part, from Southern Italy — because I am third generation, raised in the United States, I feel it is not my place to claim a cultural identity as Feminniello. Instead I claim an identity of third gender, as this reflects a generic cultural gender identity, something more specific than non-binary or gender variant. The cultural piece — though diasporic — is significant for me and for us as a collective. For us, gender has ceased to be an individual matter — it’s connected to ancestral spirits and to the very fabric of our spiritual beliefs. It is not so much a personal desire to be between as it is a duty to our ancestors. This life does not belong to one person. This life begs to remember for our descendants what our ancestors were forced to forget.
This month is LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the US and in sharing this I wish to express a sort of pride for a gender experience that isn’t often mentioned in the European-American cultures. Our collective roots have been cut so long ago that many have forgotten the tap root we all once shared, now that we are left with thin fibers tangled at the surface. But some of us are compelled to dive deep into the soil, to recover the withered remains of that deep wellspring of culture that recognized (imperfectly) the varied genders of humanity within Europe. Perhaps, if enough of us can twine our roots together, regrowth and renewal can come forth; opening the way for healing within and between cultures. Perhaps, in reviving our queer ancestors we can provide foundations for our queer descendants to grow upon. For this some of us must find our genders in the past — digging in the dark recesses to recover the blood an bone — while others must find them in the present or future. Many strands wound together become stronger than a single thread can ever be.
Can you imagine my excitement, then, to learn about a documentary on self-discovery and the Feminniello called Summer Within? Here is another descendant from Southern Italy, also raised in the United States, who is seeking connection to their queer ancestors and modern people whose gender exists between. Once again I felt a sense of reflection and relation. Though our paths and stories are vastly different, we share a commonality; we walk parallel to each other on the margins.
The digging into the deep recesses has felt like my/our path. As we explore our ancestral connections to spirit and gender, the distinction between “self” and “other” becomes increasingly blurred. To be trans and third gender in this life is not just about a desire to be a singular “me” — it is about being someone my great-great-great-great grandmother could not be. It’s about healing the misogyny of many generations of grandfathers. It’s about reviving ancient ways that my blood and bone hold memories of. It’s a way to honor the mother-fathers of the deep past where words no longer hold meaning. It’s about living for those who came before us and those who will come after us. It’s about the thread that ties us to the spirits of our ancestors and the old gods the once called by name. It’s about honoring this life as a gift, even when that gift is named a curse by the society we live in.
What more can we do — those of us who are queer by label or identity — than exist, live, breathe, love, and sing as we are. So that we may reflect in each other’s eyes and feel a sense of momentary belonging. There are some of us who must be seen in order to speak to the hidden ones, “you are never alone”. With such variety of human experience — of gendered experience — there must be such a kaleidoscope of bodies existing in the glorious light of day and glistening in full moon light. National Quilting Day
A quilt is a type of bed cover, traditionally composed of three layers of fiber, a woven cloth top, a layer of batting or wadding, and a woven back, combined using the technique of quilting. A quilt is distinguishable from other types of blankets because it is pieced together with several pieces of cloth.
National Quilting Day recognizes quiltmakers and their quilt-making abilities. The word ‘quilt’ comes from the Latin word ‘culcita,’ which means stuffed sack, it became adapted to the English language from the French word ‘cuilte.’
Quilting practices can be found in almost every area of the world and it is celebrated on the third Saturday in March every year. The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991 and since then it has grown into a global celebration for all quilt lovers and makers.
History of National Quilting Day
Quilting refers to the technique of joining at least two fabric layers by stitches or ties. The quilting practice dates back as far as 3400 B.C. It was mainly a practical technique that provided physical protection and insulation. However, decorative elements were often also present and many quilts are now primarily art pieces.
In the United States, quiltmaking was common in the late 17th century and early years of the 18th century. In these times, only the wealthy had the time to practice quilting so it was done by only a few persons. Commercial blankets or woven coverlets were a more economical bed covering for most people unlike the colonial quilt bed covering which displayed the fine needlework of the maker, such as the Baltimore album quilts. Presently, quilting is now a popular hobby, with an estimated base of twenty-one million quilters.
The oldest example of a quilted piece is kept at the Saint Petersburg department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Archaeology section. It is a linen carpet that was found in a Mongolian cave, between 100 B.C. and 200 A.D.
The origin of the quilting day can be traced to the Quilters Day Out, which was organized by the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society in 1989 to celebrate the ancient tradition and its practice in the state of Kentucky. Two years later, this event became so popular that the National Quilting Association decided to declare an official holiday for quilting. From this day, the name changed from Quilters Day Out to National Quilting Day. Over the years, this event has attracted people to celebrate from all over the world and participate in helping to build and maintain the global heritage of quilting.
The first remnants of quilting were dated to 3400 B.C., showing that this art form had existed far into pre-history. They were traded extensively until sometime in the 12th century when these types of trade goods were returned from the Middle East by the Crusaders. Since then, it had become an integral part of the Colonial textile arts and one of the things they were well known for.

National Quilting Day FAQs
When do people celebrate National Quilting Day?
National Quilting Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in March annually.
What month is National Quilting Month?
National Quilting Month is celebrated during the month of March.
What are the types of quilts?
There are three types of quilts, namely patchwork quilts, applique quilts, and embroidered quilts.
How to Celebrate National Quilting Day
Hang quilts outdoors: On National Quilting Day, quilts are hung outside the homes to educate and inspire people to join in celebrating this ancient creative skill and as a sign that you recognize this event and that you are observing it.
Show your quilting skills: This holiday is a time to share your skills with others by offering to teach a simple quilt project A.M.D. showing them how it’s done. You can decide to teach this to your relatives/family members, schools, neighbors, friends, or a youth group.
Make it a service day: On this day, you can work on a quilt for your favorite cause — either national or local projects. You can also check departments and facilities like the police and fire departments, nursing facilities, or children’s services to see if they have a need for quilts.
5 Fascinating Facts About Quilting
The origin of the word: The word ‘quilt’ comes from the Latin word ‘culcita’, meaning a stuffed sack.
There is an identity behind a quilt: It would interest you to know that quiltmakers make the quilts in such a way that depicts the quality of their lives or custom. Think of it as a book of tradition where pieces of stories are sewed together.
A precious heritage: Apart from the professional quiltmakers, women of the old generation can make a traditional quilt and it is passed down from one generation to the other; from grandmother to mother and mother to daughter.
For armor protection: Medieval knights used quilted pads under their armors, to protect them from chaffing and to prevent the armor from rusting from sweat.
Interest for the husband: During the 19th century, it was customary for a woman to show her quilting skills to her new husband.
Why We Love National Quilting Day
It’s a day for fun: It is a day to share in the fun and appreciate the history of quilts; to share quilting stories, fabrics, and patterns.
It’s a time to reflect on the old times: Quilting is a practice that can be dated as far back as 3400 B.C. Quilting day allows us to appreciate this old-time art, understand the history, and value it, like a connection between the past and present, creativity and heritage.
It’s a day to understand its symbolism: Quilts often symbolize resourcefulness, as quilters use what resources are available to them to make a quilt covering. They also symbolize heritage.

A Troubled Metre
From 1955 to 1965 thither was a war nonesuch in the meat of The us. No, it wasn't a warfare alike Existence War II or the Radical Warfare. I'm in the process of taking a state educational assessment despite being out of school for 15 years (long story, but fuck AI), and yesterday was the dreaded Math Portion. I hate math, always have. I got decent grades in it because I had to, but fuuuuuck math. And this test prohibited calculators.
And I got in there and sat down to take the test, and there was a lot of basic computation and logic problems and generally nothing above a middle-school level, and then I got to The Hard Problems. These were scattered throughout, but at this point I could kind of tell what the test thought was hard. And these Hard Problems?
They were all about crafts.
Fiber art, mostly. How big is this table if a tablecloth of these dimensions drapes like this? How much carpet do you need in inches if this is how much you need in feet? You need to measure rope and your only measuring tool is in the wrong units, so convert.
And I just kinda sat there having two thoughts, as someone who's been sewing since age 10 and runs a goddamn Etsy shop and makes her own clothes.
1. What the fuck. These questions aren't Hard. This is the back-of-the-envelope math I do in the fabric store, which I do without an envelope because who has envelopes anymore?
2. HAVE I BEEN DOING STATE-ASSESSABLE MATH ALL THESE YEARS WITHOUT KNOWING IT?! BETRAYAL!
Anyway, next time a student asks me when they're gonna use something in real life, I guess I have an answer.

8 Secrets You Didn’t Know About Floor Cleaning Services In Massachusetts
Tumblr media
No matter how often you scrub, if your floors still look lifeless and drab, it’s time to discover the hidden brilliance of expert floor cleaning in Massachusetts. Dec Master Cleaning offers floors so clean you’ll think they’re brand new, even after we go above and beyond standard mopping and scouring.
For over many years, Dec Master Cleaning has leveraged cutting-edge technology, specialized expertise, and customized techniques to deliver unrivaled floor cleaning that keeps clients coming back. Read on to discover eight insider secrets we employ to transform any flooring surface.
State-of-the-Art Equipment for a Flawless Finish
As pioneers in the Massachusetts floor cleaning industry, we continuously invest in the latest cleaning technology for unbeatable results. Our arsenal of commercial-grade equipment includes:
Powerful Floor Scrubbers: These advanced ride-on units combo brush scrubbing and vacuum suctioning to dislodge deep dirt. Ideal for warehouses, schools, retail spaces.
High-Speed Burnishers: These electric machines buff floors post-cleaning using ultra-high RPM pad disks to create an impeccable, streak-free shine.
Steam Cleaners: By generating powerful dry vapor steam, these green clean machines eliminate up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria locked in flooring fibers.
HEPA-Filter Vacuums: Our commercial vacuums trap microscopic dust and allergens as small as 0.3 microns with double the suction power of conventional models.
With cutting-edge cleaning tools most clients lack access to, we revive tired floors and other DIY methods fail to improve.
Customized Methods for Every Floor Type
We never take a one-size-fits-all approach. Our floor care experts assess each client’s unique flooring materials from natural stone to finished concrete to commercial carpet. We then engineer a personalized cleaning method using appropriate solutions and techniques to meet the floor’s specific needs and surpass expectations.
For example, our hardwood floor specialists understand that a gentle touch is required to clean wood surfaces without damaging the finish. We use microfiber mops and pH-neutral cleaners, changing wash water often. Then we buff lightly with felt parquet brushes to reveal the natural wood grain shimmer.
Tile and grout cleaning requires a different approach involving sealing agents to prevent staining and powerful extraction tools to clear grime from porous grout lines. Laminate and vinyl floors call for static-free mops and residue-free cleaners to prevent scuffs and shine loss. As you can see, the method makes all the difference!
Eco-Friendly Products for Squeaky Clean Floors
At Dec Master Cleaning, we believe in responsible environmental practices across all our services. We exclusively use non-toxic, plant-based cleaners certified green by leading agencies. These solutions effectively eliminate soil, stains, and sticky residues without harsh detergents or unhealthy fumes.
We also operate our fleet with green efficiency in mind. Our commercial-grade equipment meets emission standards, uses filtered water for steam cleaning, and maximizes usable battery time minimizing discharge. With growing eco-awareness across Massachusetts, green floor cleaning gives us a competitive edge while also benefiting the planet.
Save Yourself the Back-Breaking Labor
Let’s face it – floor cleaning is hard work! It requires getting on your hands and knees to scrub tile grout, pushing heavy equipment around for an hour nonstop, and having the stamina for repetitive motions. With our professional manpower, specialty gear designed to reduce fatigue, and seasoned techniques, we make it look easy.
The average homeowner can spend 4+ grueling hours on an intensive surface cleaning. Why invest your personal time and energy when our crews can complete the same job in a fraction of that? We encourage clients to reclaim their weekends and evenings knowing we’ve got their floors covered.
Protect Your Flooring Investment with Expert Care
From marble entryways to basement cement, your flooring likely represents a significant upfront investment that adds value to any home or business. With improper DIY cleaning methods, it’s easy to inadvertently damage flooring and degrade its appearance faster. Our pro cleaning services in Massachusetts not only restore floors to their former glory, but also maintain their integrity for durability.
We only use solutions pH-balanced specifically for each flooring material to prevent etching or hazing of the surface. Proper techniques like dust mopping before wet cleaning prevent grinding debris into the flooring fibers. Thorough extraction prevents destabilizing moisture and promotion of mold growth. Simply put, our expertise keeps your floors looking pristine while extending their usable lifespan at the same time.

Oerlikon Barmag WINGS FDY Technology for a sustainable polyester yarn production at Garden Silk Mills in India
Tumblr media
Remscheid (Germany) / Surat (India), February 12, 2024 – With the successful commissioning of the new polyester yarn production facility at Garden Silk Mills in Surat, India, Oerlikon Barmag once again proves that the company of the Swiss Oerlikon Industrial Group is rightly one of the world's leading suppliers of manmade fiber plants. The conversion and new construction of the polyester spinning mill, which now has a total of 216 WINGS FDY spinning units, was accompanied by extensive engineering work, which was conducted in close cooperation with experts from Germany and, above all, from India.
"We are particularly pleased to have equipped Garden Silk Mills, another successful customer, with our WINGS FDY technology," explained Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions CEO Georg Stausberg. "We are confident that the new, state-of-the-art spinning mill will be able to produce polyester yarns for the highest demands in an economically attractive way, so that they can be offered to the Indian market as well as the global market. We congratulate Garden Silk Mills on the successful commissioning and wish them all the best for the future," continued Stausberg.
The FDY yarn expansion project at Garden Silk Mills Private Limited (GSMPL) marks the beginning of a period of rapid progress in the textile sector by The Chatterjee Group (TCG) under the leadership of its visionary Chairman, Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee. With its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Jolwa, producing high quality polyester chips, POY, FDY and other specialty yarns, and the iconic Garden Vareli brand having a contemporary collection of sarees and dress materials, the Chatterjee Group, that has investments of USD 8 billion globally, is truly creating the Garden of Tomorrow. “We at MCPI and GSMPL are committed to realize the strong textile vision of Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee, Chairman, TCG”, said D.P.Patra, Whole Time Director and CEO, MCPI.
What is polyester yarn production with Oerlikon Barmag WINGS FDY all about?
The principle of producing a yarn is always the same: spinning pumps press the plastic melt under extremely high pressure through micro-fine nozzles, the resulting filaments are bundled into threads, stretched over godets, and wound up by a winding head. In order to master this principle reliably, high-precision and extremely stable technology is required. These machines are in use day and night, year in, year out. The slightest error during the spinning process cannot be corrected later.
Precise processes for textile and technical yarns
Oerlikon Barmag systems master almost all processes for the production of textile and technical yarns and spin the common polymers polyester, polyamide 6 and 6.6 or polypropylene. Garden Silk Mills focuses on so-called fully drawn yarns (FDY). They are processed into textile surfaces without further finishing. Fully drawn yarns are used wherever textiles need to fall smoothly or glide.
Sustainable solutions for FDY production
Oerlikon Barmag is the technology leader in this field. The WINGS concept breaks through the limits of conventional FDY spinning systems. WINGS stands for optimized production processes, low waste rates and energy consumption reduced by around 30 percent. High yarn quality is a must. This pioneering technology can be used in the FDY process for polyester and polyamide.
Oerlikon Barmag's WINGS technology now supports Garden Silk Mills in the production of FDY premium yarns – high-performance spinning components such as spinning pumps, spinning beams and spinn packs through to crossflow quenching and the 216 WINGS winders were installed in the direct spinning process downstream of an existing polycondensation system at Garden Silk Mills. This is because the quality of the yarn is determined in the spinning mill.
Competition on the yarn markets is currently also extraordinarily strong for Garden Silk Mills. The result: constantly increasing cost pressure. The solution: optimized production processes, economical systems, sustainable technologies. Oerlikon Barmag WINGS FDY technology provides all of this. Efficiency is the key feature of WINGS: The winder can be operated entirely from the floor. All operating elements are at eye level. As a consequence, this reduces the time required for feeding by 25-40%; time in which FDY yarn of the highest quality can be produced – and, above all, no waste.

Exploring the Fusion of Korean Candle Making, Tufting, Russian Embroidery, and Korean Fashion
Tumblr media
In a world where cultural exchange and creative fusion reign supreme, the realms of art and design are constantly evolving. Today, we delve into a captivating blend of traditional Korean candle making, the intricate art of tufting, the rich heritage of Russian embroidery, and the vibrant world of Korean fashion. Let's embark on a journey that intertwines these diverse elements into a tapestry of creativity and innovation.
韓式蠟燭
First, let's illuminate the scene with the art of Korean candle making, known as "韓式蠟燭." Rooted in centuries-old traditions, Korean candle making is a delicate craft that combines natural ingredients and meticulous techniques. These candles, often adorned with intricate patterns and designs, evoke a sense of tranquility and elegance, making them cherished decorative pieces in Korean culture.
Tufting
Now, let's add a touch of texture with tufting, a technique that has surged in popularity in recent years. Originating from the weaving traditions of ancient civilizations, tufting involves the creation of raised patterns or designs on fabric using a tufting gun or needle. The juxtaposition of soft, plush fibers against a smooth surface adds depth and dimension to any textile, transforming it into a tactile work of art.
As we thread through our narrative, we encounter the rich tapestry of Russian embroidery, or "俄羅斯刺繡." Renowned for its intricate stitches and vibrant color palette, Russian embroidery has a storied history dating back centuries. From traditional folk motifs to elaborate floral patterns, each stitch carries the legacy of generations past, celebrating Russia's cultural heritage in every thread.
俄羅斯刺繡
Now, let's tie it all together with a sartorial twist – Korean fashion, where tradition meets modernity in a harmonious blend of style and innovation. With its bold colors, dynamic silhouettes, and avant-garde designs, Korean fashion has captivated the global stage, influencing trends and inspiring fashionistas worldwide. From the sleek sophistication of Seoul's high-end boutiques to the eclectic streetwear scene, Korean fashion embraces diversity and creativity, redefining the boundaries of style.
But what happens when we merge these seemingly disparate elements into a single narrative? The result is nothing short of extraordinary – a fusion of cultural influences that transcends boundaries and defies categorization. Imagine a tufted tapestry adorned with motifs inspired by Korean candle designs, intricately embroidered with Russian patterns, transformed into avant-garde fashion pieces that bridge the gap between past and present.
韓國服裝
Picture a runway ablaze with color and creativity, where models strut confidently in garments that celebrate the diversity of our world. Each ensemble tells a story – of heritage and tradition, of innovation and reinvention. In this tapestry of creativity, there are no limits, only endless possibilities waiting to be explored.
In conclusion, the fusion of Korean candle making, tufting, Russian embroidery, and Korean fashion represents a celebration of diversity, creativity, and cultural exchange. It reminds us that art knows no boundaries – it transcends language, geography, and time, uniting us in a shared appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. So let us embrace this fusion of traditions and forge new paths forward, guided by the spirit of creativity and collaboration.

Striking the Perfect Balance Between Quality and Affordability in Jersey Printing
Tumblr media
In the dynamic world of sports and casual wear, custom jerseys have become a canvas for personal expression and team identity. Among the various printing techniques available, sublimation has emerged as a preferred choice for its vibrant colors, durability, and all-over printing capabilities. However, finding the right balance between quality and cost can be a challenge. In this blog post, we'll explore the key factors that make sublimation a top-notch choice and uncover some of the best options for both high-quality and cheapest jersey sublimation.
Understanding Sublimation Printing:
Sublimation is a process where heat and pressure are applied to a special type of ink, turning it into a gas that permeates the fibers of the fabric. This results in a permanent, full-color, and high-resolution print that is embedded within the material, ensuring it won't crack, peel, or fade over time. This method is especially popular for sports jerseys due to its ability to cover the entire garment seamlessly.
The Best Quality in Sublimation Printing:
Material Quality: Opting for high-quality fabrics is crucial for achieving the best sublimation results. Look for polyester-based materials, as they are the most receptive to the sublimation process, ensuring a sharp and vivid print.
Precision Printing: State-of-the-art printing equipment is essential for achieving precise and vibrant results. The best sublimation printers use advanced technology to ensure accurate color reproduction and sharp detailing, capturing even the most intricate design elements.
Durability: The longevity of sublimation prints depends on the durability of both the ink and the fabric. High-quality sublimation inks, when combined with top-tier fabrics, result in jerseys that withstand frequent washing, intense physical activity, and exposure to the elements without compromising color vibrancy.
The Most Affordable Options in Sublimation Printing:
Bulk Orders: Many printing companies offer discounts on bulk orders. By ordering jerseys in larger quantities, you can significantly reduce the cost per unit, making sublimation printing more budget-friendly.
Online Platforms and Marketplaces: Numerous online platforms connect customers with printing services that cater to various budgets. These platforms often provide competitive pricing and a range of options for customization, allowing you to find affordable sublimation printing without compromising on quality.
Local Print Shops: Check with local print shops that specialize in sublimation printing. Smaller businesses may offer personalized services and competitive prices compared to larger, more commercialized options.
Conclusion:
Finding the perfect balance between quality and cheapest jersey sublimation printing requires careful consideration of factors such as material quality, precision printing, and overall durability. Whether you prioritize top-notch performance or affordability, the world of sublimation printing offers options to suit your specific needs. By exploring different providers, comparing prices, and understanding the intricacies of the sublimation process, you can confidently create customized jerseys that reflect both your style and budget.
