Sorry folks, was out of town for the weekend so this is where I resume!)

She had been stuck for some time. While she had excelled thusfar within the Arcanist guild, there was only so far that knowledge and memorization of the geometric arcana could get her. In the end, the greatest measure of power for any practitioner of magicks was aether manipulation.

She couldn't allow herself to fall so far behind her fellow students, not after Carteneau. Sharlayan was already likely barred to her, given her father's allegiance to Louisoix, and.... there was no accepting a quiet life after his death, she wanted to make a difference, like he did.

Unfortunately, an insufficient pool of aether was a difficult hurdle to overcome, if not impossible. It was difficult enough to gather enough within her to summon a carbuncle, and aether crystals were far too expensive to augment her spells, and an unsustainable option.

Of course, the first place apple looked for answers was deep within the Arcanimist library, an old tome apparently recovered from Nymean ruins by adventurers, primarily a collection of various theories regarding magicks, both present and past, from the perspective of a Scholar of the time named Fiddeus Fiddlefig. The tome had likely been purchased by the Guild as many of the theories that would travel to the south with the fall of the great magi cities were contained within, precursers to modern arcanima.

What she found interesting, was the completion of stories of a sect of Allagan sorcerers who drew power from slain primals. Not particularly a solution available to her, but further details included reports of specialized garments able to draw in ambient aether from the land and air, and condense it in some sort of "horn" to direct it.

Thubyrgeim protested her leave, having already tried to convince Apple to continue as an apprentice instructor at the Guild, but if she were to get her hand on more information about the Allagans, it would be not be here in Limsa, and her carbuncle would at least be able to best many of the fauna that threatened the various farms that dotted Vylbrand.

It was a risk, but the Adventurer's Guild was most likely her best option to get together enough funds to travel.

And so, with a great deal of uncertainty, she boarded a Ferry to the island, getting herself below deck to grab a seat before the tourists stopped gawking. A good idea, it turned out, as there was just a friendly looking Hyur and a pair of young Elezen that had the same idea at the moment.
