Reading some discussions of "Fionna and Cake and Fionna", which was the last Fionna and Cake episode in Adventure Time, and ends with us learning that Ice King does get Fionna and Cake's world beamed into his head, which he states earlier in the episode, but it's presumed to be a joke.
Tumblr media
"in all likelihood we'll never know...wouldn't explain who or what is beaming them into IK's head, or why"
Tumblr media
(Note that the "AT SPIN OFF CONFIRMED" statement is speculation/a joke due to the time this comment was written)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Fionna and Cake outlived their usefulness long ago, and I’m eternally grateful that this is the last F&C episode ever produced." I mean...this is sorta true, for Adventure Time.
Tumblr media
"I can appreciate a show getting meta, but the reveal that Fionna and Cake is (seemingly just) an errant television broadcast is rather unsatisfying. While I’m sure there’s more to the story than that, the ending of the episode does certainly suggest that someone or something is beaming these stories into the crown (and therefore, the brain) of Ice King...If it turns out they’re just the creation of some other person, I will be disappointed. However, I’ll hold off judgement until (or if) that time comes" I'm so sorry to tell you this person from 2017. But. Well. Uh.
Tumblr media
"Personally, I think it would've been better if it remains just something out of the Ice King's head and not having to delve too deep and have a plot over it." Got bad news for you person from 2017
I've always actually loved Fionna and Cake's series more than the original Adventure Time series. It has a different focus, and its characters and relationships are all entirely different than Adventure Time's. It's a beautiful twist on the genderbend trope that subverts it into something new without actually fulfilling the genderbend trope or being genderbend. There's a lot of reviews I didn't include in here, and in them I found out a lot of Adventure Time fans HATED Fionna and Cake, like, a LOT. Although I think this is a vocal minority, as the vast majority of AT fans loved F&C. Well, guess what!
I just can't stop giggling at a lot of these. Oh how the tables turn! Just like S8E9.

Adventure Time is usually offbeat enough that you don’t get the feeling of, “I know exactly what’s going to happen, so we can just skip to the end,” but that’s exactly what I got this time. It was obvious that there was something sketchy about Fionna from the beginning, and then as soon as I figured out what it was, that was it, the episode might as well have ended right there.
Hopefully tomorrow’s episode is better. Cya then!

Adventure Time - S8Ep26: “Fionna and Cake and Fionna”
Tumblr media
“Dude, I literally have one bazillion questions”
At the risk of once again severely misinterpreting an episode, (”Of course the Blue Tranch was Patience, you dingus!” I say to myself) I’m not gonna delve too far into theory crafting, I’m just gonna just quickly summarize the episode, and only speculate a little bit.
So the Ice King is still writing his Fionna and Cake stories, and he’s managed to score a gig reading his newest installment at the local library. However, he is interrupted by an old woman claiming to be the real Fionna. This obviously raises a lot of questions, especially for Finn, who has basically just met an alternate universe version of himself.
Fionna comes wielding a tape of one of her and Cake’s adventures, giving us what is essentially an episode inside an episode. Fionna’s tape plays out like a pretty standard early season AT episode. Fionna and Cake go dungeon crawling, find a mysterious object, and meet a mysterious creature inside said mysterious object, who turns out to just be one of their foes trying to trick them. It’s a kinda lame story honestly, but the episode that it’s contained within luckily is not.
After watching part of the tape, Ice King attempts befriending Fionna, with all the excitement and nervousness of a child meeting their favorite TV hero. (Imagine if Finn was a real person you could meet in real life. Yeah, I know) Ice King randomly asks Fionna to move in with him, and she’s suspiciously cool with it. There are hints throughout the episode that this so-called Fionna is up to no good, but Ice King is too starstruck to notice or say anything.
Tumblr media
Fionna shows the Ice King another snippet of the tape, but once again she stops it before the end. This causes the Ice King’s curiosity to get the best of him, and he devises a brilliant Indiana Jones-esque sandwich switch to watch the rest of that tape. In classic Ice King style, his stupidity and complete lack of understanding accidentally helps him reveal the truth. He see’s through fake Fionna’s ruse, but is hilariously convinced that she is a mummy come to steal his treasure, hence the reason she wouldn’t show him the rest of the tape. It is then revealed that she is just an old woman who is a fan of the Fionna and Cake TV show.
That’s right. A TV show. I’ll be honest, I’m very confused about all this. Fionna and Cake are clearly based on Finn and Jake but, according to the old woman, Fionna and Cake is an old TV show, so are Finn and Jake based on them? Is it a coincidence? I’m trying to look at this from every angle I can but I just can’t quite figure it out. All we know is that there is a deeper secret going on with Fionna and Cake, especially considering that their stories are literally beamed into Ice Kings melon while he sleeps. Let me know about any theories you have cause I’m pretty much lost.
Fionna and Cake seemed just like a fun side project for the AT team to embark on, but with this episode, we see that these stories have a deep lore and real world implications. Not the best episode of the three so far this week, but one that still has me itching for answers.
- That sequence with Cake’s “eye key” was wild. I watched that at least 3 times in a row.
- There is a poster on Ice Kings wall for “Fionna and Cake and the Haunted Baguette 2″.
- There is also a box in Ice King’s closet labeled “F/J candids”. Gross.
- The old woman brought a plant to hide in with her to the library.
- Reactions to the tape: Pep But: “Was it real?” Banana Guard: “Who was filming all that?” BMO: “Needs more hunks!”
- “I still can’t believe it. The Fionna. In my bathroom. Touching my toothbrush. Throwin’ it into my little trash can.”
- “Never invite strangers into your home, no matter how cool they seem and are.”

So,the AT bomb was amazing, but Fionna and Cake and Fionna was not as good,it wasn't bad it was just a bit lacking, especially compared to the episodes that were released near it. Also that ending was confusing,I guess Ice King thoughts can get recorded in video tapes, that could become a plot point latter on,but still kind of weird and does not really make sense.
Yknow,a lot pf people say that when Rebecca Sugar left the show got worse, which I really don´t  agree because she was just one of the writers, yet people acted like she was the only thing that made the show great when she was just one of the many small aspects of it.,however I do think that the Fionna and Cake episodes are not as good without her,her sweet style is really what made these episodes fell like something special, and without them they are not as notable.I mean,The Prince who wanted everything was great in how it was a parody of bad fan-fiction,and maybe it would be better if that is what the other episodes tried to go for,but nah,the other two are not really bad episodes, they just felt lacking in substance.
