"While I was happy and emotional about the Korrasami ending, I did feel it overshadowed Korra as a character. To be honest, Korra seemed to have taken a bit of a back seat this season. To me this was disappointing and the ending was not entirely satisfying in that regard. In the end, though, Korra is truly a legend, having accomplished so much more in 1 year than any Avatar in their lifetime (except maybe Wan). Long live Korra! Also, even though I am a korrasami shipper, I always loved all your Makorra fics (makos-lightningrod's, fireferretfuzzies, nuktuk's, ebonynightwriter... as well) All so talented, but more importantly, all so passionate :)"

I know callistonicol and fireferretfuzzies are interested, so I will share my Makorra playlists with y'all as you prepare thyselves for book 4. Keep in mind that these playlists are not finalized, since we don't know the outcome of Makorra yet even though it is totally endgame.  

I will post them right from my Spotify but will also make text posts with lyric links and comments and stuff like that. 

I will also make a fanmixes page on my blog, which I will likely continue to update with new playlists for various fandoms and ships, because I really enjoy making themed playlists!

makorra divergent AU: "fears"

word count: 621

notes: me still hurting from the finale + me still hurting from allegiant + lauren's stupid talk about a divergent crossover = ME JUMPING ON THIS GRAVY TRAIN SO FAST. literally the night she started talking about it........... i wrote like 2/3 of this.......... even though i was about to pass out from exhaustion........ yeah.....

long story short, this (along with pulpo's camp counselor AU which i'll gladly take this opportunity to plug) is kind of my favorite thing rn and the only thing keeping me alive so, FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE, i couldn't NOT write something for it

this is the first fic ive actually finished in like 3/4 months so go easy on me pls thanks bye

Even as the simulation ends, Mako struggles to catch his breath, to regain control over his own body; without saying anything, Korra watches him move away from her and bend down to pick up the little black box that houses the syringes they used, his chest heaving, his jaw clenched. He pointedly avoids looking at her, pretending to be extremely interested in making sure the box is fastened properly, that there are no dings or scratches in its smooth plastic surface.

"Mako," she says. Images from his fear landscape are still chasing each other around her brain: Bolin remaining pale and quiet no matter how hard Mako shakes him; the dirty alleyway stretching endlessly in both directions, she and Mako the only signs of life, rejected even by the factionless; Mako sitting, hands bound, in front of a plate full of food, pounds dropping away from his body with every attempt to eat until he doesn't even have the strength to support his own weight; a house filled with smoke and a single doorway blocked by a towering wall of white flames, faint screams ringing in her ears.

"There you go," Mako says, and now his voice is flat, rock-steady – emotionless, as though he hasn't just revealed his deepest secrets to her. "All my fears laid out for your entertainment."

The first thing out of her mouth, before she can consider saying anything else: "Only four?"

His throat bobs as he swallows. Korra studies the ink peeking out from under his black T-shirt, curling along the back of his neck, and wonders for the millionth time what's painted there – wonders if maybe he's on his way to letting her find out.

"Yeah," he says, with a familiar, slightly bitter chuckle. "Only four."

She takes a couple steps toward him. "I didn't know your parents died in a fire."

"Yeah, well." Finally, he meets her gaze. Somehow he looks even more scared and vulnerable now, baring himself to her of his complete and total free will, than he did while they were inside the simulation, if not more so. "Now you do."

And there it is, at the heart of everything. He's trying, in his own way, to explain to her who he is, what made him this way – and if she's learned anything about Mako over these past few weeks (and she's pretty confident that she has), it's that he's much better at showing than telling. As he stands there, hands at his sides, every muscle in his body coiled and tensed, just waiting for her to react, that much has never been so clear.

Part of her – maybe the part with one foot still in Abnegation – means to tell him how sorry she is, and how sad; but she already knows that the last thing he wants is her pity, that he doesn't need it – doesn't deserve it, for that matter. He is stronger and better than that and he deserves better than that. Especially from her.

Lucky thing, then, that Korra's always preferred actions to words.

She reaches out and takes Mako’s hand, squeezing it tight enough to hurt.

"Thank you," she says softly.

After a moment or two, he smiles. Just a little.

For now, it’s enough.
