Hammocks or tents? . . . In this case the hammock was awesome. I went looking for a free campsite just before the eclipse and there were none to be had so I set up here, next to a boat launch, and it turned out to be a great spot! It was right on the water and I had a chance to meet a lot of great people. Flat ground was sparse and the hammock between the trees was inconspicuous. A couple weeks later though it rained for days straight and eventually the rain defeated my drip loops and my butt got soaked. I think a good tent would've stayed dry. It also would've been nice to have moved my gear inside with me and to have been able to read/doodle/eat chips without everything gravitating under my back. PLUS I'm going to be traveling next year and some places do not have trees.
