My first quilt! This was made as wedding present for friends. It’s not perfect and I had quite a bit of help, some of it not as helpful as a cat thinks it is, but I’m really proud of what I accomplished. And my friends loved it.

I may be obsessed with Jelly roll race quilt tops. This one us actually going to be a quilt though. Here is my #pqfirstquiltever. I made it when I was in high school. I bought all my fabrics for it from the clearance bin at Walmart. I created a paper template for my square. Pinned and cut each square. You should note ... this was in 2000 when there was such a thing as rotary cutters ... I just didn’t know about them yet 😂. I made my quilt into sort of a slip cover for my gorgeous (😉) 90s style comforter. I used this quilt A LOT! As you can see ... not all of that clearance fabric was very high quality or even cotton 😂😂😂 I love bringing this with me on my talks because it’s fun to show folks that everyone started somewhere. A quilt in the making! I had so much fun picking out the fabrics, though it wasn’t easy! Want to scream since I cut all the strips too short. I am going for a 9 block pattern my mother made 20 or so years ago. She is 88 and working on another! I think I need to cut the strips again and will have plenty of extra fabric for a creative and wonky back.

Today's prompt for #igquiltfest is Finally Finished! Well, here it is, my first quilt. I started it when I was pregnant with my daughter so I blame hormones for the idea that I could make a such a complex quilt my first time out.
