Nurturing Healthy Eating: Aspen Center’s Pediatric Feeding Therapy in Cary, NC
The Aspen Center, located in Cary, NC has been helping countless families over the past 18 years. While our services span a vast range, from speech to occupational therapy, today we focus in on a critical service close to our hearts: pediatric feeding therapy.
Tumblr media
Every parent knows the joy of watching their child enjoy a meal. But for some families, mealtime can be stressful. Some kids face challenges in feeding and swallowing, turning a basic life activity into a daily struggle. Our specialized feeding & swallowing therapists are here to change that narrative.
Our approach to feeding therapy is simple but powerful. We see every child as unique, deserving of individualized care. Instead of a one-size-fits-all method, we tailor our sessions to fit the child’s needs, making each bite a step toward progress.
It's not just about the act of eating. It's about the whole experience surrounding it. How does the child feel about different textures or tastes? Do they have the motor skills needed for chewing and swallowing safely? Our therapists work diligently to address these questions and more, paving the way for a holistic eating experience.
While our feeding therapists lead the charge in this journey, our speech-language pathologists play a vital role too. Often, the skills needed for effective communication intertwine with those required for feeding. Our team's combined expertise ensures your child is equipped to both voice their thoughts and enjoy their meals. To learn more, contact us today at: https://aspencenter.net.

Pros and Cons of College Life in Raleigh
Last time I wrote about colleges in Raleigh generally and how it’s not like other college towns. This time, I’m gonna be speaking a bit more about the pros and cons so it should be a little more specific.
Before that, however, I wanna make this clear: Raleigh is not somewhere you should move to for college unless the school you’ve applied to is your dream school.
In terms of academics, there are better choices than NC State or WPU. If you wanna study biology or medicine, schools like UNC-W or Duke would probably be a better fit for instance. If you live in Raleigh, don’t pick a school just because it’s close; if you live in another part of the states and you want to attend an east coast school there are options all along the east coast that you should consider.
Raleigh is a great place to live and work, and there are plenty of friendly people here; but a degree from the right university can make or break your career (depending on the field and other aspects of course).
Tumblr media
As a person suffering from anxiety, the question “Do you want the good news or bad news first” has always been a terrible one for me. Up until I hear the bad news, it could be literally anything regardless of what the person asking was doing or how much of the task they were on I’m familiar with.
Similarly, living in Raleigh (or really anywhere for that matter) is going to present a lot of subjective pros and cons. Please keep in mind this is gonna be super subjective, but I hope you enjoy reading this even if we disagree.
Tumblr media
But you didn’t come here to read three paragraphs of disclaimer. So lets start by listing the good stuff.
Raleigh is a city full of vibrant color, culture, and cool shit. You can find cool things almost anywhere you look, regardless of where you are in Raleigh. I mean, all of the pictures (including those in this article) I use for this blog I’ve taken in Raleigh or nearby it. As a result, the first pro has got to be the beltline highway system.
The beltline is a highway system composed of I-440, I-40, and parts of I-540 that encapsulates all of Raleigh. It connects north and south Raleigh while having downtown in the center, letting travelers easily reach nearly any part of Raleigh.
I’ve lived on the border of Durham, Cary, and Rolesville at different points in my life. I’ve had to make trips to Garner and Apex for various reasons. At no point in my 20+ year stay have I ever had to make a city trip that lasted longer than a half-hour (one way). It makes working in Raleigh especially easy, since the abundance of highway access points and the convenience of the loop design means I’m never too far from that loop.
It even helps with adjusting to your new environment if you move here (for school or other reasons) since if you’re ever lost, the highways can act as a point to re-orient yourself by. I know I’ve had to do it plenty of times in the past, and it can really save you from looking like an idiot if you excuse your lost-ness by just saying “Oh yeah mate, I was just tryna get on the highway. Saves so much time.”
Tumblr media
Does this mean Raleigh has the best transportation network of any city? Hell no. Does this mean that Raleigh has the best highway system? Not even close. But it’s still super nice, especially for students. You’ll run into the problems any urban place has like rush hour or crash delays, but this is mitigated by the fact you’ll be using it for our second pro: Everything happens in Raleigh.
Well, not EVERYTHING everything but as I’ve ranted about before; there’s plenty to do and see in the city of Raleigh (even if you’re a student).
For instance, according to raleighnc.gov, Raleigh is home to over 200 public parks. Not a fan of parks? Into more electronic entertainment? Then visit our very own “Arcade of Thrones” downtown and get your game on with your fellow nerds
Boring stuff like restaurants and night clubs aside, Raleigh is home to literally thousands of businesses and social clubs for you to partake in. Farmers markets, gun and knife shows, fishin’ holes and public church barbecues are available for that classic southern charm; but don’t forget to make use of our barcades, art festivals, concerts, comedy clubs and sport centers.
The only reason why I’m not going into more detail about examples like First Friday, the downtown cultural festivals, PNC arena or other more specific events is because I want to write about them in-depth in the future.
Tumblr media
Of course, students having things to do and places to go is only part of the college experience. If you’re gonna come to Raleigh for college, the best pro I could possibly mention is the support network.
Not to say that we’re exactly all one big happy family here, but in Raleigh you get that nice blend of metropolitan city life with your rural state. Orgs like the LGBT Center, Goodwill, Raleigh Missions, and more support locals in need constantly and provide for the many different groups around here.
Libraries and civic centers share the same city as mosques and churches which neighbor women's shelters and LGBT+ advocacy groups. If you’re a republican or democrat, that’s fine but be prepared to meet the other members of the political spectrum since groups like the Democratic-Socialists of America (DSA) are active downtown as well.
If you need help or want to help others, there’s a 98% chance that you’ll find someone or something out there that meets your needs. Join a community through Facebook or Nextdoor and you’ll see every diaper drive, garage sale, and community recommendation pop up whenever one is needed.
Tumblr media
Of course, this brings us to our first con. Raleigh may be home to some of the nicest people I’ve ever met but it doesn’t mean you won’t run into some problem people sooner or later.
There’s of course the typical collegiate douchebags, the upper-middle class young scions of no import who fumble through life with no regard for others because mommy and daddy will perpetually care for them, but being a red state you’ll also run into the more colorful republicans.
Every year there’s an anime convention called “Animazement” downtown and every year there’s a small herd of fundamentalist Christians warning all the otaku who’ll listen that they’re going to hell. Drive around town long enough and you’ll find a few different businesses that have made their opinions on things like masks and social distancing clear, not to mention there’s no shortage of QAnoners and alt-right sympathists.
Of course, you shouldn’t let others dictate the quality of your life or the area you live in but you should be aware that these people exist. Raleigh is more liberal than other parts of North Carolina for sure but it’s not the leftist paradise those other parts would say it is.
Tumblr media
Other than the coinflip that is neighbors, Raleigh is kind of a pricy place to live. The cost of living is on average higher than other cities in the US, cheaper still than New York of Californian cities, but pricey nonetheless.
Rent in Raleigh for a one bedroom apartment is on average $975 according to bestplaces.net and can go as high as $1200 depending on the complex and location.
That, with a federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, means you’ll need
>Multiple jobs >Multiple roommates >A good paying job
or any combination of the two to be able to afford rent, utilities, and food beyond cup ramen. There’s housing programs like Section 8 and military housing initiatives to help, but for students you’re looking at some pretty steep housing costs for anywhere that’s not student dorms.
You can get a good job that pays decent, of course, nothing’s impossible. However, finding one that won’t require roommates would demand full time hours (which might be difficult to make on student scheduling) or a degree (which you’re probably at college to get). Most living spaces require you make at least 3x the advertised rent to even be considered as well, which may limit students to seedier student living complexes like University Village or The Proper (Formerly Vie, formerly wolf creek).
Tumblr media
Finally, if you move to Raleigh for college be prepared to drive. A lot.
As I mentioned earlier, the beltline is a god send for students and people looking to explore; but it’s also practically mandatory for moving around Raleigh. Public transit in Raleigh isn’t non-existent but it’s pretty damn close.
Live between 10-15 minutes from your desired destination? Taking the bus is gonna be anywhere from half an hour to a full hour, and that’s if you even live near a bus route. If you’re like myself and habitually on the edge of Raleigh, be prepared to drive for a bit before you even see a GoRaleigh bus let alone a stop.
The buses do at least run pretty late (Closing normally around 11PM), but the lack of public transit lines and bike-able roads means that you’ll be adding to the urban congestion more likely than not.
Okay with driving? Hope you’re okay with paying another arm and a leg, because at most schools down here tuition doesn’t cover your parking pass.
NC State prices range from $105 to over $400 depending on your credit hours and where you’re staying at. Other schools like William Peace only charge a flat $130 for their parking decal, but most of the schools require you throw them an extra Apple Pencil or two for the privilege of being able to park your own vehicle close to the actual campus.
There are workarounds, like parking off-campus nearby, but those carry risks and penalties that can add up over time. The audacity these schools have to take thousands in tuition and then demand that you pay and additional fee to just use the parking lot.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, though, regardless of my thoughts if you live in Raleigh or North Carolina in general and you’re considering attending one of the fine establishments here; I’ve provided you some food for thought.
College can be a scary experience for many, and the area around it can really make or break your experiences. We don’t have the biggest party schools or the most glamorous cityscape; but if I had to go through the collegiate system again I honestly couldn’t imagine doing it anywhere else.
Next time I’ll be talking about some alternatives to College though, so stay tuned for that.
Special shout out to the DSA of Raleigh as well. They didn’t help write any of this or communicate with me during the production of this article, but they’ve been doing some amazing work downtown with the homeless during the pandemic.  They are some of the most amazingly hard working individuals who care immensely for the community and you can check them out on dsanc.org.

My Audio Script
Audio Script
For this assignment, I chose to do an audio file. My topic today is the Senior Games.  I’m 54 now, and about 4 years ago, I decided that I wanted to get back to playing softball. My children were grown, and I had some time on my hands and I just knew that I would be able to find a church team to join. To my surprise, there were no women’s slow pitch softball teams playing in the area. I just couldn’t believe it. Back in the day every church had a softball league. One of my co-workers told me that the Senior Center had a league and that I should check into that. Well, first of all, I couldn’t believe that she even suggested the Senior Center, like I’m a senior citizen or something. Sidenote, she and I are the same age, and we were 50 at the time. I told her that I did not want to play in a senior citizen’s league because mainly, I didn’t think I was one, but she informed me that 50 counts as a senior citizen for that league. So, I met a lady through my work that actually plays on the 60+ team and she encouraged me to start a 50+ team. I practiced with the 60+ team while I was trying to get my team together. By the way, those ladies are serious about their softball! There is also a 65+ team too.
This is how I became involved in the Senior Games. They are held every spring, except last year due to the pandemic. There are a number of events to participate in, such as softball, tennis, pickleball, swimming, track and other field events, just to name a few. You can find out more about the complete list at nealseniorcenter.org and you can get information about the rules and registration process. Each county has their own senior games and all counties compete at the state level after their local games have concluded. The state softball tournaments are held in Cary NC in the fall. There are lots of teams and it is so much fun. There are men’s teams and women’s teams. Cleveland County doesn’t have a men’s team right now. My 50+ team isn’t playing this year. We didn’t have enough players, so I’m learning to play tennis now. I am definitely not ready to compete this year, but I plan to play tennis in the Games next year.
Another part of the NC Senior Games that is offered is the SilverArts. This allows people 50 and over to showcase their artistic talents. If you are an artsy, crafty person, then SilverArts may just be for you. Some of the categories in the SilverArts are quilting, crocheting, painting, needlework and woodworking just to name a few.
I had no idea about the Senior Games, because frankly, I didn’t really think I fit into this category, but once you turn 50, guess what? You are in this category. So, if you are over 50 and looking for something to do to be active or involved in something that is a lot of fun, head over to nealseniorcenter.org and check out the information about the Senior Games. They also have lots of other activities that you might be interested in too.

Some NC moms drive an hour away to give birth. Are midwives the answer? | Charlotte Observer
Across rural North Carolina, women face drives of an hour or more for routine prenatal care and they endure long commutes when it’s time to give birth.
Some midwives say that they could provide those women better access to health care if the state would ease restrictions over how they work.
A new survey by The Charlotte Observer and The (Raleigh) News and Observer finds 91 percent of nurse midwives — college-educated, advanced practice nurses — want to be licensed without the requirement that they get approval to practice from a supervising doctor. Nearly half of North Carolina’s 100 counties do not have nurse-midwives and a quarter of the state’s counties don’t have a local OB/GYN doctor.
In western North Carolina, three labor and delivery units run by hospitals have closed in the past five years, leaving fewer options and fewer doctors.

"It’s nerve-racking sometimes to make sure they get there in time," says nurse-midwife Sally Inglesby-Schaefer, who works in Sylva at Harris Regional Hospital, a Duke LifePoint hospital.
Sally Inglesby-Schaefer
Harris is one of just four hospitals from Asheville to the Tennessee border where women can give birth.
Midwives could help fill the gap of womens health care access, particularly in rural areas, says Suzanne Wertman, president of the American College of Nurse Midwives in North Carolina.
Certified nurse midwives are professionals who deliver babies and provide primary health care for women. Increasingly, women are opting for midwifery care during their pregnancy instead of an OB/GYN doctor. Midwives care for women with low-risk pregnancies and can cost much less than a doctor for prenatal care and delivery.
But, Wertman and other midwifery advocates say, the current requirement that midwives have a supervising doctor is hurting their ability to practice. Midwives aim for the least amount of medical intervention as possible, typically delivering babies without pain killers and artificial induction, and practice on the premise that pregnancy and birth is a natural process, not to be treated like a disease.
Doctor trade groups, though, have pushed back against changing midwife rules and the debate appears to frozen in place at the state legislature.
The survey of North Carolina’s 340 midwives this month also found a majority of respondents think:
Tumblr media
A healthy woman giving birth outside a hospital is just as safe as inside a hospital.
Tumblr media
Midwives should be allowed to attend home births. (Currently, certified nurse midwives attend home births only if their supervising doctor approves.)
Tumblr media
Government agencies should regulate and inspect non-hospital birth centers where midwives deliver babies.
North Carolina is one of just six states that requires nurse midwives to have a supervising doctor and also one of the few that doesn’t license or regulate birth centers outside a hospital. The majority of North Carolina’s nurse midwives work in hospitals.
Midwives face home birth hurdle
Although the supervising doctor requirement doesn’t mean a doctor is always in the room with a midwife, it does mean the midwife is only allowed to attend home births if their doctor approves — which is rare. In some cases, a lay midwife or non-nurse midwife will attend a home birth but this practice is illegal in North Carolina.
Women who want to give birth at home face long odds to find an experienced midwife to help, says Jani Barnes, a mom of two in Raleigh. She delivered both babies at home.
Five years ago, she looked for a midwife for a home birth with her first child. The only midwife she could find ended up being not compatible for her family, she said.
So, during both births, it was just her and her husband in their bedroom while she labored and delivered. Her son and daughter were born healthy babies.
Barnes says she never considered a hospital birth because she wanted to avoid medical intervention with her pregnancy — namely the pressure of induction if she labored too long and constant medical monitoring of her and her baby.
"It can create a lot of unnecessary anxiety which can also stall and prolong labor," she said. "They follow what’s in the textbook but people are not textbooks. It’s kinda silly to think people will fit into this one specific guideline."
Doctors resist changes
Historically, trade groups in North Carolina representing doctors have pushed back against changing midwife rules and these groups contend that lifting the supervising doctor restriction wouldn’t change rural health care access. But, last year, the North Carolina Obstetrical and Gynecological Society relaxed its opposition and said it would support eliminating the supervision rule in favor of "collaboration agreements" between midwives and doctors.
Rep. Nelson Dollar, a Republican from Wake County, said lawmakers are stuck at an impasse as long as the state’s medical establishment wants to maintain restrictions on midwives. He thinks the legislature shouldn’t referee disputes between midwives and doctors.
The N.C. Medical Society, the physicians’ lobby, wants to keep the status quo. The society also opposes midwife-assisted home births.
Democratic Sen. Mike Woodard, a Duke University administrator and one of the members of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services, noted that the state’s doctors run a very powerful lobby, which influences how lawmakers perceive the midwifery issue.
"I have confidence in the work of nurse midwives but I think some of my colleagues don’t," Woodard said.
Lawmakers eye birth center regulation
Soon, legislators could be faced with a new question: Should North Carolina draft new rules for birth centers — the one place outside a hospital where you’re most likely to find a midwife.
The debate was jump-started earlier this year after three infant deaths in six months at Baby+Co in Cary, a non-hospital birth center.
A majority of certified nurse midwives surveyed this month — 73 percent — say they would welcome new North Carolina regulations on birth centers. This is also the preference of the birth center profession, because state licensing brings credibility, opportunity to work with more insurance plans, and public confidence.
But, the midwives want birth centers to be judged differently than hospital-level facilities.
Hospitals handle high-risk pregnancies. Birth centers, on the other hand, screen pregnant women and will not take on expectant mothers who are likely to have complications, those who have previously had a C-section or those who have diseases like diabetes or heart problems.
Most certified nurse midwives who support regulations at birth centers want government officials to follow the guidelines set by their industry’s top accrediting bodies, Wertman said.
Suzanne Wertman
Accreditation groups have helped shape state regulations in other parts of the country. For example, the birth centers say that a state license should not be contingent on having a doctor on site.
If North Carolina moves to regulate birth centers, it would allow for state safety inspections, an avenue for public complaints and investigations and could create new public records of the birth center’s operations and record of violations.
Birth centers are a valuable option for women who have low-risk pregnancies, says Jackie Born, a midwife with more than 20 years of experience. She works at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. Regulating birth centers through a state health agency is appropriate, she said.
Born’s career in midwifery began after she gave birth to twins in a hospital in 1969. It was a rough experience that involved little consulting with her about her wants and needs and a doctor putting her under medication to induce "twilight sleep," followed by delivery by forceps, she said.
She’s one of the majority of midwives in the survey who believe home births are just as safe for healthy women as hospital births and that midwives are well-qualified to deliver babies without doctor supervision.
"As a midwife, I’m taking care of your family, which is a normal process of humans," she said. "Doctors look at it the opposite way —you’re an accident waiting to happen."
About The Charlotte Observer and The (Raleigh) News and Observer midwives survey:
The survey collected anonymous responses. Some participants agreed to follow-up, on-the-record interviews.
The survey was sent to 334 certified nurse midwives in North Carolina. Eighty-six midwives participated. About 80 percent said they work primarily in hospital settings, which reflects where most midwives work in the state.
Survey participants are some of North Carolina’s most-experienced nurse-midwives. Collectively, they have attended nearly 91,000 births and nearly half of the midwives in the survey have 10 or more years of experience.

This year has been full of milestones, and WKNC aims to celebrate them all. 2019 held Raleigh’s first ever Pride Festival, was the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, and marks ten years of Hopscotch. With this in mind, WKNC’s Hopscotch Day Party aims to promote and celebrate LGBTQ+ affiliated artists from across the state to keep the Pride Party going all year long! Featuring Petrov, Emily Musolino, Juxton Roy, Through the Tallwoods, Black Bouquet, and To Julian, the party will be hosted on Saturday, September 7th at Legends Club. This event is all-ages and supported by the NC State GLBT Center.
This will be a series up until the Day Party, so the questions will be the same, but we can guarantee that every artist will add their own personal flare to each answer.
Through the Tallwoods is an up-and-coming punk act that is managed by the same king of the scene that organizes Juxton Roy. His name, if you’re unaware, is Jonas Chisholm! Both Jonas and Juxton will be at our upcoming Hopscotch Day Party with Through the Tallwoods tagging along as well! Will you be there??
Give us a lil rundown of how your band got formed! When/where/how/why!
Austin and I (Taylor) met from a craigslist post I put up in the summer of 2017. His energetic and technical bass playing had me hooked the first time we went through “Wake Up Early.” At the time, we were playing with a different drummer in his garage in Cary. About a year later, that drummer left to pursue his other artistic interests and our (long) search for a new drummer began. Through Instagram, we were able to connect with our current drummer, CJ Sierra, in October of 2018. His adaptive playing and quick, ready-to-learn attitude fit with our unconventional song structures perfectly. Since then we’ve had the opportunity to play alongside some of our favorite local bands like propersleep, Paperback, and Juxton Roy - who we’re looking forward to seeing right after our acoustic set at Legends this Saturday!
What can an audience member expect from one of your shows?
Hopefully to connect to some of our lyrics; we fall under the emo genre a lot because we talk about some sad shit. You also get to hear Austin scream real loud – his mic check will scare you (or your money back). CJ will surprise you with his snare work and rhythm changes. He seems like a reserved, quiet guy till you see him moving around the kit. We also like talking to people at our shows, so we hope everyone feels welcome to do so.
Do you see performance as a task or an endeavor? In that vein, what part about performing is most challenging or liberating?
Austin: I like performing. When skilled performers do their job well it’s awesome to watch. Seeing all of our practice, hard work, and planning come together is very satisfying. Taylor: It’s definitely a little out of my comfort zone – I’ve been more reserved most of my life. But I agree with Austin; the anxiety of preforming is overcome by the satisfaction of pulling off a show well.
What does Pride mean to you? How do you embody those meanings in your music? In your everyday life?
Pride is a matter of acceptance for others and yourself. It’s a marked time to celebrate what makes us different, but also what makes us the same. We all deserve love; and love, in all its healthy forms, should be celebrated. Our music talks about the ways we’ve learned to distinguish the difference between love and simple want. It talks about the ways we’ve learned to move on from difficult situations, how we’ve grown to respect ourselves more, and to take pride in the people we’re becoming.
What are you most excited about during Hopscotch?
Austin: Kissisippi! I’ve been a fan for a while now and I’m excited to see them play live. Taylor: I love Kississippi as well! Zoë is such a sweet, talented human being. I’m stoked that the headliner this year is Sleater-Kinney! I have a soft spot for Riot Grrl rock and Carrie Brownstein. She’s badass.
For the tenth anniversary of Hopscotch, what would you ten years ago think about you now?
Austin: I always really wanted to play music, so I think 14 year old me would be proud that I’m playing shows and putting out an album now; it’s been a long time coming. Taylor: Honestly, at 15 I was still religious and wrestling with the guilt I felt over my feelings about girls. I would hardly believe that the sappy poems and guitar riffs I was writing in my room alone would be part of something cool like this 10 years later.
Please list some fun facts about your band!
WE LIKE TREES A LOT – we go hiking pretty often. Austin has broken the same arm 3 times but still kicks ass on bass CJ is one of the creators of local label 85 Split Records, and he also drums in another band called “Student Health” One time Taylor ate a live goldfish for $20
You can learn more about Through the Tallwoods by visiting their Facebook page or Instagram (@throughthetallwoods) and, of course, by attending WKNC’s Hopscotch Day Party. It will be held at Legends Club on Saturday, September 7th and begins at noon!
Literally be there or you will make baby deer cry!

Who Might Be Replacing ‘Toys R Us’ Stores That Closed In NC
Hundreds of Toys R’ Us stores closed in the United States in 2018, one of the most high-profile casualties of the so-called "retail apocalypse." Now the question is which retailers will replace all those empty stores left behind by the once iconic toy chain.
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Hobby Lobby is a big player in the game. Burlington Stores Inc. and TJX Co., which owns stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods, are also among the retailers expected to take over those empty stores.
In North Carolina, Toys R’ Us stores closed locations in 15 cities in 2018:
Cary Raleigh Fayetteville Smithfield Greensboro Winston-Salem Concord Jacksonville Wilmington Charlotte Pineville Gastonia Hickory Greenville Asheville
Conor Flynn, CEO of Kimco Realty Corporation, said at a consumer conference in June that many of the larger big-box storefronts will be taken up by Hobby Lobby, according to the Journal. Kimco has interests in about 475 shopping centers.
According to the Journal, Flynn said off-price retailers, fitness centers and specialty grocers are likely to go after the Toys R’ Us stores that are about 35,000 square feet each. The smaller stores, that are 20,000-25,000 square feet, are more suited for retailers like TJ Maxx and Marshalls, Flynn said, per the Journal.
In 2018, the number of announced U.S. store closures stands at 4,146, according to Fung Global, which tracks store opening and closures in the U.S. The number of announced store openings in the U.S. is 2,042. In the latest store closure news, Sears said it would close 10 more stores with liquidation sales expected to begin as early as July 13, according to Fung Global.

Healthcare procedures have advanced and with that, more people are becoming concerned with their health. Non-invasive chiropractic health practices are being considered as opposed to taking pain relievers to alleviate aches and pains in the body.
One of the benefits of these non-invasive treatments is that they allow you to get to the root of the problem and as such, the condition can be relieved with an understanding of the primary issue in mind. Chiropractic care in Cary, NC is typically used for the treatment of joint pain, neck pain, back pain, or headaches. Our society is governed by increased screen use, chiropractors may end up becoming the body’s regular repair mechanic. In order to handle this need, chiropractors provide a hands-on and drug-free approach to their healthcare methods, which involves an examination, diagnosis, and treatment. The aim is to promote normal functioning by eliminating pain without the need for medications or surgery. Chiropractors in Cary NC have a wide range of diagnostic skills and they have received the necessary training to recommend rehabilitative and therapeutic exercises in addition to offering lifestyle, dietary, and nutritional counseling. A chiropractor is, in other words, the fitness and health coach you never knew you needed.
Physical Therapy and Exercise
Both of these chiropractic methods are considered the first-line approach but surgery becomes an option recommended by the chiropractor in Cary NC in the event that non-invasive treatments to prove to be unsuccessful. Damaged knees usually become worse when there is reduced activity but physiotherapy and physical therapy can aid in the restoration of function, eliminating the need for surgical means. Chiropractors in Cary NC commonly perform a therapeutic procedure known as chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation. The aim of this procedure is to manually improve joint mobility through the application of a controlled force into the joints that are restricted from moving thanks to tissue injury. Tissue injury may be the result of a traumatic event i.e. lifting heavy objects improperly or repetitive stresses (maintaining an improper sitting posture for extended periods).
Either way, injured tissues go through chemical and physical changes that can result in reduced function, pain, and inflammation. Adjustment or manipulation of these affected tissues and joints can and will restore mobility, easing muscle tightness and alleviating pain so the tissues can heal. Chiropractic care in Cary NC might be the main method of treatment in most cases, lower back pain included. In the event that there are other medical conditions present, chiropractic care in Cary NC can support or complement medical treatment by helping to relieve any musculoskeletal elements involved.
A chiropractor in Cary NC will work with your spine as the house for your spinal cord, which is the body’s command center. The chiropractor’s goal is to ensure this spinal nerve center is in optimum working condition to ensure the rest of the body is functioning normally as required. A visit to a chiropractor in Cary NC can result in dietary advice, recommendations for new gym classes, reduced work hours, or relaxation therapy etc.
