Its funny how black sails could only get away with one mlm kiss and no sex at all, but oh my god they made that one kiss count for the plot.

#this show is very good #but it is interesting to see what they are and are not willing to depict.#so lots of bisexual ladies having sex #good for them tbh but also not so threathening for the male gaze I guess #(also I am like halfway so if there is some sorth of mlm kiss I guess nevermind)#yet... flints queerness almost never shown directly... eventhough it is the center of the entire plot of the show #and its not like that isnt justified within the logic of the story (just being with a man is the thing people destroyed his life for #and his lover died)#so artisticly it makes sence it is pushed deep down and is only revealed through a flashback in a flashback #but this is also a show my dad had ramdomly watched before I had even heard about it because he likes historical GoT type shows...#and to me it very much feels like a compromise to not scare away the random dad audience #black sails #james flint #(also I am only halfway so i guess nevermind if there is more mlm smootching later on)

The age difference between Silver and Flint came up earlier, and now I'm thinking about it.

I think we are supposed to see Silver as somewhere in his mid 20s. Flint is at least 10, and probably more like 15 or 20, years older, and has been one of the most famous and feared pirates for the past 10 years. And I'm just thinking about how we make fun of Silver for thinking such crazy things about Flint, but, assuming Silver had been in or familiar with the American colonies or the West Indies, he would have been hearing stories about Flint since his adolescence. He very possibly *thinks* of Flint as a competent adult to his child, even if that is no longer the case. Is it really such a stretch to think that he controls the weather? Literal legend.
