besides the anti-feral drug (which is theorized to be something else), what are your thoughts on how the Fallout tv show Buffed the Ghouls?
Sorry for the delay! I wanted to take a bit of time on this. I’m not sure if the ghouls are necessarily buffed. They seem to be for the most part the same, albeit there’s the dependence on the drug and there seems to be more of a chance of ghouls to decay/breakdown overtime if they can’t get proper care. For example, Roger has a full chunk of his skull showing. Without the drug, overtime, it seems like they start to lose themselves like Roger and Martha who needed to remind themselves of who they are. Pretty heartbreaking not gonna lie :/.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR FO4/FALLOUT ON PRIME
Roger brings up that Cooper has outlasted everyone to which Cooper responds that he’s just always been good with money so there was, at one point, a community and overtime they became feral. Cooper does look healthier than the other ghouls who seem much paler and have their skin pulling away. When we finally see Lucy’s mother in the final episode, she is mostly skeletal and missing an arm and has probably been that way for years. I know a decent bit of damage would have come from the attack on Shady Sands but it’s also been many years as well and there could have been ongoing deterioration despite Moldaver’s best efforts. She could have gone feral soon after and may have been unable to be further treated.

How the ghouls turn feral reminds me of Rachel and Oswald the Outrageous from the Nukaworld DLC. After the Great War, they were turned into ghouls by the radiation and, overtime, some of their friends began to deteriorate and become feral. They describe it as a type of “affliction” and Rachel heads out to find a cure but ultimately concludes that ghouls are doomed to go feral eventually and takes her own life when she, too, begins to deteriorate. Maybe the cure she was looking for would have been something like the drug in the show.

I don’t think we’ve seen as of yet whether radiation cures or promotes healing in ghouls in the show. In regards to Thaddeus, I’m not sure if he is necessarily becoming a ghoul since the serum the snake-oil salesman gave him immediately healed his foot without the use of radiation and he also healed after being shot with an arrow. The salesman mentions that he has “serums that will make you grow an entire new foot.” Once Thaddeus takes the drug, the salesman is in a hurry to leave and even remarks that radiation “isn’t a thing to worry about” anymore. Some people have been saying it could possibly be the healing factor serum and that he now has that mutation, which is a possibility but I’m a bit skeptical of the salesman acting the way he did if that was the case. I actually like Thaddeus so I am a bit worried though with what clues we do have, it may be more likely that he could be turning into a super mutant of some type. FEV can have some regenerative properties depending on the strain and it could be that it’s taking a while to work…but we’re going to have to see what ends up happening in Season 2. I hope he’s okay though :(

goddd everytime someone disses the fo4 DLCs all I think about how in Nukaworld they included a missing/dead old lady who left behind her cats without food and cry
or that you can surpass a boss by telling him his wife died trying to find the cure and that she left this for him to find because she loved him

Welp, p. much done with Nuka World in like 4 hrs of gameplay. Now to mod it to let me plunk down some settlements and hopefully remove the traders' slave collars.
At least I have a ridiculous outfit to wear when I meet Shaun.

Been playing Fo4 again...
And I really just have to say it, Nukaworld SUCKED as DLC.  You spend the whole game killing raiders, and helping settlers, like that is a major part of the game introduced early on.   Then you go to Nukaworld, and suddenly your character who HATED raiders is now the raider boss and they’re just COOL WITH IT.  Sure you could kill the raiders, but then you lose out on all sorts of quests.  I just wish they would have fleshed out the massacre the raiders option a little more you know?

Danse: there's just a wealth of technology waiting to be discovered out here.
*gets stuck in Funhouse spinning room for eight minutes straight looking like a whole chicken in the microwave*
Solesu: what was that about prewar technology again?

Been playing a lot of Fo4 for the past month, tho i have the game + season pass since pre order, i just wasn’t into the game’s story at first, it was a little disappointing so i never really wanted to play the dlcs when they released, but i missed Fallout so much and I’m finally doing Nuka World an i’ve gotta say i LOVE IT. It feels a lot like New Vegas, and i’ve always wanted to do a Raider badass playthrough, and now i can :D

Re-reading the fallout 3 ending reminded me how bad the nukaworld dlc is in fo4
like, it isn’t the same general plot holes and inconsistencies, just an experience that forces the player to do things that may go against their choices and role playing
The scenery and ideas of nukaworld are interesting, and I like the area more than far harbor, but unlike the other DLC you don’t have any choices to make beyond what 2 raider groups you want to side with
want to say “fuck the raiders” and help the minutemen? You can, but you get none of the rewards for doing so and completely miss out on most, if not all of the major achievements for the dlc
If you do go along the intended path for the dlc you’re essentially branded a warlord by the minutemen and either lose their support completely, or lose Preston as a follower and companion
Far Harbor at least tries to give you some unique choices and show how each of the three factions have their flaws (at least for the synth and town factions), but nuka world says, “these raider factions are basically the same beyond superficial designs and if you don’t go the raider route you’re not getting the real rewards” and it doesn’t make any sense

i know you've said you'd cut some fo4 companions and combine others, which ones specifically? (pls not nick... my mëtäl hüsbänd)
Idk i just had some thoughts about them, its not really that serious tbh. I do character design so i just constantly think about it. I just think there were way too many companions, and some of them didnt have any development, and some of them were too similar with each other gameplay wise so couldve been axed. I think 6 human companions, 3 women 3 men, 4 faction companions, 4 romancable companions wouldve worked a lot better. This is all just ~my design~ though!
wouldve combined nick and piper into one character, a female detective gen2 synth that basically does everything that both of them do. I wouldve axed deacon and made it glory instead. I wouldve combined curie and x-6 into a female courser who you can convince to leave the institute to pursue her love for science and be a doctor. Hancock, Preston, and Danse would pretty much bethe same personality wise, except i wouldve changed like, quests and encounters and stuff. Im sorry but macready and cait would have to go...but i would then make them dlc companions, mac would go into far harbor and cait would be in nukaworld.
The real controversial content is i wouldve made glory, preston, gen2 synth piper, and hancock be the romancable ones but glory and hancock would be gay while preston and piper are bi (and like...explicitly bi with ex boyfriend/girlfriends). I would make danse gay but not romancable and courser curie would be ace+aro because i hated her romance so much its... like. Pretty much outta spite. And idk. I just say so. Its just what i’d want.
I would also change hancocks main weapon to the plasma flintlock he has in the concept art!! more diverse combat skills wouldve been great, glory would be long range/big guns, prestons still a laser sniper, danse does short range laser weapons, hancock does plasma weapons, piper does short range ballistic weapons, and courser curie would do unarmed/melee.

1, 21, 24 for the Fallout ask meme!
1. Whats a NPC from your favourite fallout game you woulda liked to have had as a companion?
It always seemed kind of weird not to be able to have Yes Man as a companion option. Though tbh, I would rather do more Followers of the Apocalypse stuff and hang out with Julie Farkas.
21. What are your favourite DLCS for each fallout game you've played?
FO3: Was there DLC? I honestly cannot remember. :/
FNV: Old World Blues. I wanted something goofy to offset the seriousness of the other expansions and it delivered, though it was a bit of a slog at the end.
FO4: Far Harbor, hands down. It made me sad in a good way. B+ DLC, would be an A if I could have given Nick a hug at the end.
(I can't bear to begin NukaWorld until I mod it to allow me to capture it with the Minute Men.)
24. When playing do you dress your character stylishly or functionally or do you try and balance the two?
Style. Always. Joshua Graham's outfit is still my series fav - the stitching in the shirt, the matching snakeskin boots and belt and those ass-hugging jeans, all very good. I loathe power armor with a passion and only wear regular armor the first few dozen levels, switching to clothes once I have enough perks to support my stealth sniper playstyle. Glass canon? Absolutely. But I leave a pretty fine looking corpse.
In FO4, I am currently wearing Silver Shroud stuff - there are some clothes from the FO4 retro clothing mod I want to switch to, just haven't picked an outfit quite yet. (I tried some knickerbockers and looked like Nick's kid sidekick, it was kind of hilarious.)

also things i just found weird in fo4 - how open goodneighbor was to individual freedom, and yet not a single prostitute was there. a guy selling drugs to kids? sure okay theyll show that. - again the whole game not mentioning anything about actual human/ ghoul slaves except for 2 instances: a shitty sidequest and a info dumped backstory by a companion - but the whole last dlc being centered on enslaving random people and even mutants? - how you actually go about enslaving anyway is kinda. odd. you just put a collar on them in public and say “youre a slave now!” - the collars are labeled as shock collars instead of bomb collars? why? are they trying to make them seem less… evil or something?? - where did they even get the collars? where did they get so many?? elijah says how they might’ve been used by corporations for “compliance issues”…was nukaworld using them on their employees??????? - that random encounter with the dude who sells you a credit card (who’s apparently a self insert kinda) calls you a fucking ableist slur but not a single npc says theyre gay or bi. mkay bethesda.

I've been thinking of getting FNV but I don't know if I should get the ultimate edition or just the base game.
haha, well you can wait for another steam sale at half price, but if you do buy it for full price, for just $10 more you get
- to lock an old homophobic asshole in a vault and steal all his gold
- to beat up a flaming ghost bear after drinking drugged out tea
- a hovering brain in a jar yelling at the courier, calling their extremities “penis shaped”
- the courier’s actual brain in a jar yelling at them, which they can also flirt with
- a homicidal toaster, a mini securitron with anxiety even worse than mine, flirty light switches, a bio research station thats…kinda kinky, and a really sweet juke box and auto doc, a talking sink, and a like… vendor thing with the most caps
- WWE mailman smackdown
There are definitely issues with each one, but overall they are definitely worth the price all in all, even at full price. You find out answers to questions you find in the vanilla game that aren’t absolutely necessary, but it is a very nice tie in. They’re also very individualistic with an underlying plot that ties them all together, ultimately leading you to the backstory of Courier 6 without… railroading? it? i guess? like you can still have a backstory you can make up for rping purposes, but it adds to it.
if you’re coming from fo4 being your first game its…i can’t even tell you what was notable about far harbor or nukaworld except… they were pretty? Nothing resonated with me at all, nothing stuck out in any way except “oooOOoo shiny fancy environments!” Those are the only 2 DLCs worth mentioning, and together they’re priced at about $50 vs NV full dlc at $10 (if you get the Ultimate edition).
Idk, I think it’s worth it but it also depends what kind of person you are and what you’re into I guess, but at the very least the DLC are good cheap ways to have fun!
