Little self indulgent project of mine. Been turning green day albums into pony characters. Working backwards from recent to old.

Right now we have Vertigo (Saviors), Sugar Shakes (FoAMF), and Revolution Radio (...Revolution Radio.)

I gave them personalities and stuff but i dont want this post to be too long so lmk if you want me to explain and i will. I like how they turned out. More coming soon.

Erion's Official (not) Definitive Ranking

no one come for me it's MY list and i get to choose the trilogy if i want to !! (controversial opinion: Warning slaps and if y'all were Really about to cancel this band over one of their sneaky experimental bangers, you don't deserve the rest of the discography)... i think im going to review the albums in this order, obviously ill do the other side projects and remastered/anniversary versions, but ill go into those with the respective album. Also, I'm not gonna really shit on any of the albums, not even foamf or rev rad, because truthfully i find some of the tracks on them endearing and actually valid. least overly critical green day fan methinks

i've seen people give the trilogy shit too and like the songs off those albums aren't even bad in any way. i think you guys just don't like when the band does something different or lighthearted

i am sooo sick of new green day being peepaw music...i agree they need to make songs about being bisexual again but instead of the lyrics having a coming of age motif they should be about being bi in your 50s (are they 50.....still)

No exactly lol imo the success of american idiot stagnated the band like CRAZY. it's an actual good record and musically a HUGE left turn/gamble that has cursed the band to make pseudo-political music ever since in the hopes of chasing the highs of american idiot, without the authenticity and artistry that drove american idiot into being the record that it was. Like they've been trapped in a doom loop of their own creation since 2004 that they seem to not be able to get out of- and any attempts of breaking out of it seem to crash and fail hard (the trilogy/foamf)... they're not scrappy working-class punks anymore- they're millionaires in their 50s living lavish so all the lyrics of "revolution" feels so hollow and disingenuous. lyrics like "i was a teenage teenager" from foamf is so like eyeball-clawing-inducing like YOU ARE 50 WITH ADULT CHILDREN shut up about being a teenager shut up. either make coming clean v2 GEN X EDITION or shut up forever. but then you have songs like forever now from revrad that are truly a gem of what current green day COULD be if they leaned into their actual current experiences (old washed up bisexual rockstar) vs what they think they should be releasing (hollow as fuck faux-political noise)
