i love how many moments there were of spren going "wow your deadeye is well trained" or "she cant speak youre stupid" and adolin going "SHES MY FRIEND!! >:(" all the time and that culminates to the chapter and maya's just "YOU. CANNOT. HAVE. MY SACRIFICE" and everyones like "holy shit shes talking". also love the moment where adolin was like "she did it for me... no! no she did it for herself :]" i love this selfless man so much,,, literal ray of sunshine to maya's vines/plant aesthetic
everytime someone said ‘trained’ and adolin was like If You Microaggress My Friend One More Time Im Gonna Curbstomp You.......i know everyone rooting (ha ha) for edgedancer adolin might be a bit disappointed if it doesnt look like thats gonna happen but im obsessed with the idea that this new bond between the two of them thats never happened before and is super weird is just like. regular being friends. like they just like each other thats it would any of yall NOT brush a horse’s mane with ur bff.

Edgedancer Liveblog 5
After realizing who the other Radiant in the city is, Lift proves a point to Darkness, eats pancakes, and goes home.
So Lift successfully gets Nale’s attention, and he shows up in the top of a stairwell, dramatically lighting his face from below with a sphere full of violet light, because god forbid any surgebinder doesn’t do literally everything for the #aesthetic.
“I am surprised to see you accept judgement,” Darkness said. “I had thought you would remain in presumed safety.”  “Yeah,” Lift called. “You know, the day the Almighty was handin’ out brains to folks? I went out for flatbread that day.”  “You come here during a highstorm,” Darkness said. “You are trapped in here with me, and I know of your crimes in the city.”  “But I got back by the time the Almighty was givin’ out looks,” Lift called. “What kept you?”
She proceeds to do things like hide on the ceiling from him, stick her tongue out at him, and keeps taunting him, and describes him as having “a lump of crusty earwax for a heart.”
“To feel guilt at following a code with precision is wasted emotion.”  “And other emotion isn’t, in your opinion?”  “Which you totally feel, all the time.”  “Of course I do...” He trained off, and again seemed to be considering what she’d said.
The fact that Nale has to repeatedly stop and think about whether or not he feels emotion is actually deeply tragic but in this context, it’s really funny.
THE STUMP ACTIVELY HIT NALE ON THE FUCKING HEAD WITH A STICK TO PROTECT LIFT I LOVE HER
Also Nale just got fucking bopped on the head with a stick twice holy shit. This is not a good day for Nale. His breakfast eaten, one of his disciples repeatedly disagreeing with him, mocked by a child, and now bopped on the head. He fucking deserves it, though.
Anyway, Nale does something cruel but smart--he injures the Stump, making it so she’ll bleed out, and tries to bait Lift into healing her to get rid of the rest of her Stormlight. She, instead, realizes she can’t beat him as he is--she has to change him. So she starts running up to the roof, confusing Nale.
And Wyndle turns! He becomes a Shardrod--a long stick/pole that Lift can use to defend herself.
Rain beat around them, and crimson lightning blasted down behind Darkness, leaving stark afterimages in Lift’s eyes.
Again: god forbid any surgebinder fight happen without everything being Extra As Hell. Lift tells him to look around, look at the evicted Parshmen whose eyes are starting to glow, and to deny what he’s seeing--and we get the first, and possibly only, glimpse of who Nale was before the madness, the breaking of the Oathpact, and the obsession.
Nale looked up at the thunderheads, rumbling with power, red light ceaselessly roiling within.  In that moment it seemed, strangely, that something within him emerged. It was stupid of her to think that with everything happening--the rain, the winds, the red lightning--she could see a difference in his eyes. But she swore that she could. He seemed to focus, like a person waking up from a daze. His sword dropped from his fingers and puffed away to mist. Then he slumped to his knees. “Storms. Jezrien...Ishar...It is true. I’ve failed.” He bowed his head.  And he started weeping.  Puffing, feeling clammy and pained by the rain, Lift lowered her rod.  “I failed weeks ago,” Nale said. “I knew it then. Oh, God. God the Almighty. It has returned!”  “I’m sorry,” Lift said.  He looked to her, face lit red by the continuous lightning, tears mixing with the rain.  “You actually are,” he said, then felt at his face. “I wasn’t always like this. I am getting worse, aren’t I? It’s true.”  “I don’t know,” Lift said. And then, by instinct, she did something she would never have felt possible. She hugged Darkness. He clung to her, this monster, this callous thing that had once been a Herald. He clung to her and wept in the storm.
I just...I love this. It’s a raw, horrible, vulnerable moment that I didn’t think we’d get to see from Nale? And it’s probably going to change him a hell of a lot, I’d think. Two things particularly hit me: first, his realization that he already knew weeks ago, and has just been acting in denial this entire time; the other, his numb realization that he wasn’t always like this. I think that’s tied to Lift’s earlier demands to know if he knows feelings; he’s realizing he doesn’t and that means something is horribly wrong.
Jesus, someone put all of the Radiants in therapy. Nale has some serious depression issues to work through, it seems like.
Anyway, he flies off into the storm--hopefully to fix some of the shit he’s ruined, or at least to call Ishar the FUCK out--and Lift goes to heal the Stump.
Apparently, Wyndle says the only constraint on what spren become is that it has to be metal, because there is a connection between their condensed power and metals. Interestingly, this confirms that Shardblades actually are metal in physical composition--I always assumed they’d be something else.
The Stump brings pancakes for herself and Lift, and Lift says she’s been healing the kids and also says that she should have a spren around her--the Stump says it’s “Like light reflected in a mirror.” So that’s what the spren of Truthwatchers look like--the Stump has to be one of the ones with Growth, after all.  Also, Lift makes Wyndle into a SHARDFORK and eats pancakes off of him.
Shardfork.
And then Lift learns that the tenth pancake of Yeddaw is not an actual pancake, but an idea, a concept.
She demands the she and Wyndle go find Nale and get him to deal with everyone for lying to her. I love Lift.
So she leaves Yeddaw, and on the way out, uses her Stormlight to heal the refugees on her way out. And she is heading back to Azimir and Gawx.
And Wyndle comments that hey, he was a rather regal shardfork. And Lift says he might not be a Voidbringer after all.
I. I love this story. I love everything about it. I love Lift. I love Edgedancers.

Running Reads Oathbringer: Part III.III
This part was a lot. I’m kind of drained. In a good way?
Spoilers for pages 686-751 below.
Free food is a good thing.
So stuff in the tower was failing before the Radiants left hmm
"The storm was a primal dance, an ancient song"
I really love these hints at music being deeply rooted in the magic of the world
Oh dear lashing is detectable not good
Same Kaladin same re: appreciating the long spear
Seriously the floating Voidbringer aesthetic
Oh no
Not a party
Sanderson needed an excuse for his fancy party scenes
I guess this is where Adolin will wear something other than a Kholin uniform
Adolin is freeee
Adolin calls him Kal?
Oh right Skar and Drehy saved Adolin after the battle with Eshonai glad to see they're friends now
Heh Kaladin's uncomfortable with false faces
Kaladin's feelings are relatable. I'm glad he is having more good days though. But it is hard to think that on the bad days.
Punchy guys pfft
I support Adolin and Kaladin being friends
Ah Kaladin being uncomfortable with being lighteyed
Oh no Kaladin you're ditching the plan already?
Is the Identity tied to Kaladin's brands so strong that the illusion failed or did he take in the Stormlight? Or something else took it? Or do you simply have to want the illusion for it to work.
Well, Kaladin actually may accomplish his mission but no one knows where he is oops. Oh wait Syl's around.
The Sibling? Division among the Radiants that was more significant than before? Perceived worthiness? Give me all the Radiant backstory.
Now will the Highmarshal actually be cool or is Kaladin going to be horribly disappointed
Well that's uncomfortable. “I'm going to avoid the lighteyes tent cause “ don't feel comfy there but hey this place is nice...and is also full of lighteyes”
It was said that the cities had a lot of low nahn lighteyes
It does make me more suspicious of this group though
Ooh the Cult of Moments tried to seize the gates
Hmm Radiant or something else odd about Azure
If he's not even from around here
Ugh I want to believe he's good but suspicion is healthy
Highmarshal Azure is female?
I LOVE HER ALREADY
Silver basket sword?
A Herald? Or a Radiant? Or a Worldhopper?
Well I'm glad Lyn and co got armed
So Azure knows her stuff about the Alethi wars prior to the Everstorm
Aaaa Kaladin thinking of Sah and co
He's going to be hurt so much if/when he finds out what happened
I'm guessing she's a Stoneward? I mean it’s not like the orders beyond Windrunners and Stonewards didn’t fight but those two are the best candidates
Woah did we actually skip a party scene? Or will there be more
“A Sign of Humanity” is a promising chapter title but I don't trust it
Nuuu Evi crying
Well at least Dalinar feels bad but still
Evi. Deserves. Better.
I keep forgetting that rockbuds can grow that large
Dalinar it's not about Evi admiring you. It's about her crying and being miserable because of your choices and deserving better
Go Evi for being the one with a conscience and praying for the rebels
Ugh rule by the sword cause clearly the Almighty favors battles ugh
"If they don't want to fight, they should give in to our rule"
Ughhhhhhh
How much does she notice of the Thrill
How much does the Thrill really have a grip on Dalinar
"Do not feed it."
She understands his duty but knows there's something deep soul wise at stake
The Thrill is not natural
Well at least he's talking first. It's been implied an atrocity happens here so probably not going to work.
"He builds. I destroy."
Oh dear
This is peak Blackthorn threatening
But he's trying!
A duel?
Wait
Oh that's why Sadeas was part of this memory
What game is he playing
What game is Tanalan playing I'm confused
Well good for Edgedancers focusing on the displaced workers
Kholinar has a heartbeat? I mean it is ancient
Oh. Veil. Bleh.
Ooh Rockfall is pretty
Lightning should not do that yikes
"Veil took a deep breath, then let Shallan bleed back into existence"
That phrasing isn't worrying
Even with impersonating people she just met Shallan is going too deep this isn't good
Oh no even NPC is replacing her name pov this is aaaaaa not good
Ah food acquisition for the Cult infiltrating
Oh god she got tempted to entirely impersonate
Shallan this is not good not good
Chulls aren't the best getaway vehicle
Well this is creepy and messed up if creative.
I do find the voice impediment and the imperfect healing interesting cause I’m fond of fantasy healing that requires some degree of thought to work properly in certain cases
Aww Shallan is caring about people and not just greater good. I mean Veil. Ugh. Shallan.
Yay Wit is still in contact!
Aww the urchin she's in contact with also draws
Evernight is what they're calling Everstorms in the evening?
So the tower used to be protected from the Unmade? That does seem to be an important feature.
Yeah it is concerning that the protagonists are working so hard just to repel Unmade but they’ll probably just go somewhere else important
I like Beard
Kaladin joins yet another party but not as leader this time
So he has to periodically keep summoning Syl to keep the eye color?
Pfft disguised Adolin
Chouta!
Ah nuances of social stratification
Pfft Kaladin “It sure is nice being lighteyed as I, of course, have light eyes-like you, my eyes are lighter than the dark eyes of darkeyes”
Ah yes he does do the multiple summoning thing
And yet despite Kaladin not being great at lying he’s somehow pulling it off?
They're just all "you sweet summer child" to Kal
I feel like this is the book of Kaladin learning more perspectives and perhaps the next Windrunner ideal has to do with reconciliation cause protection isn't just fighting
Yeah the guard is disconnected from the people they supposedly protect
Yikes the cultists are self flagellating
They talked to the spren of the night?
Spren of changes and a new storm trying to supplant?
Yeah, really feel like Odium’s trying to replace all spren with his own
Would fit with his whole stance that he can’t leave the remnants of Honor around even though he already killed Honor
Ah Azure’s blade could still be an Honorblade
So is the Highmarshal just hiding identity or does Azure identify as a he?
Is there something deeper going on with Beard?
Oh god when you get close to the palace you hear voices beckoning you to join them and they can't take you unless you listen this is creepy
Pfft Kaladin's commander instincts
"Keep your head, and I suspect you'll end up as a squad leader before too long." He said it like a proud parent.
If only you knew Noro
Swiftspren? I like that name
Ooh are the gem colors related to the orders speaking cause sapphire is Windrunner that’s the only corresponding gem I know
Need to go back and look
Oh dear Shallan got a reputation
And of course it's attributed to a spren with the spren cult
I did not expect Shallan to become Robin Hood
Hey Pattern helping a few people is still good even if it's wrapped in a lie would be better if it wasn’t a lie of course
Although that does raise some concerns again about how the spren aren’t really about morality but about following oaths and how those limits can pose dangers even if they’re generally good guidelines
Shallan no what are you doing becoming Swiftspren in a city where things are already going weird with spren aaaaaaa
Like okay the costume is pretty cool
“A broken girl who lies” Who achieves so much and is so much more but only thinks it’s due to her not being herself.
Revel but of giving up and lethargy? That’s weird.
It's possibly anti Identity definitely anti fight against it
Oh no she's letting the voices in isn't she
Oh good she snapped out of it
I do think she's going to be vulnerable to this guy
But it knows her name not good
Oh nice one Shallan
Shallannnn "sometimes she felt like a thing wearing a human skin"
Aww Wit's leading cheerful songs
Why is he here though
Bad Veil no. No love triangle
There are different kinds of chouta?
Heh Elhokar finds Pattern familiar so it was Cryptics lurking around him in WoK
Aww giving Elhokar an inspiration drawing
“Only Red” does not bode well as a chapter title
Long distance runner elite archers are pretty cool
I want to know more about the Shin invasion
I'm concerned but I'm too happy and distracted about the description of these distance runners
30 miles a day is crazy. I mean I don’t know how different a Rosharan mile is from an Earth mile but still. That’s 210 miles/week. 100 mile weeks are crazy mileage. I’ve never crossed 50 miles/week without getting injured. But there are ultra runners around who I suspect do similar high mileage so it’s probably not unrealistic.
Anyways back to plot
Yeah about the trap I suspected
Well, that’s about the only way to make Dalinar's resolve to give into the Thrill worse
Nuuu not the distance runner elites
You were so cool even if your appearance was only for a few pages
But this took planning how did Tanalan know Dalinar would talk instead of fight
Is Evi involved? It doesn’t feel like she would do something like that.
Oh no Tanalan's men's eyes seemed to glow?
Thrill everywhere
Oh if the gemstone is cracked the Blade can't be dismissed?
Oh god he's going to go battlefrenzy with stab wounds and only a neck brace
Oh god the visions of armies of red mist
Like this is kind of cool cause any dramatic scene that has to do with traveling, walking, or running I have a weakness for but it’s so wrong and twisted
Oh scouts traitors
Oh shoot men, women, and children at the site of his great mercy yikes
l....
This is so horrible
I guess this is why we haven't heard of anyone from this place
Massacre
Just….
I should have known it was the logical
Conclusion of extreme after all
Boo Sadeas for encouraging it
Gavilar may not be the type of cruel to massacre a city of Alethi but he wanted to bring back a Desolation interesting how there are different kinds of evil
*hisses at Amaram being present here*
They're doing the bridgem-I mean ladder men here too really Dalinar
It really comes full circle from the Teleb scene and it's fitting Teleb is the one questioning this plan
The flamespren are altered? Not good.
Glad to know Dalinar had some shred of a conscience
The Thrill will never be satisfied
....
He actually did I suspected that was why he but I wasn't sure and aaaaa
You are nothing to the monster you unleash
Dalinar please take responsibility
He can hear screams
Like Szeth?
It's so poetic though
The warning signs when Dalinar slew some of his own men by accident
The fact that it shows how each person he slaughtered had meaning and weren't just faceless
I had suspected Dalinar killed Evi and that’s what messed him up so much about he death but I couldn't see Dalinar killing her by intent but couldn't think of how it would come accidentally on the battlefield
Dalinar killed his wife in the very place where he spared Tanalan and seized Oathbringer wtf
We haven't had a present day Dalinar pov since those memories came back and all of this came back didn't it ouch just as he was about to talk to his new wife
Yep I'm done for the night
Kind of just feel this deserves a pause in reading.
Wait one more thing
EVI. DESERVED. BETTER.
Okay now I’m done.

Running Reads Oathbringer: Part III.II
So many awesome things going on as well as terribly concerning things I love this book so much.
Spoilers for pages 606-685 below.
Aaaaa there's a map!
A map
Sure The Stormlight Archive has had plenty of excellent maps but I think this is the first time they've had a detailed city map like this?
I'm so excited
I’m just going to stare at this map with joy for a while don’t mind me
Hmm what was Szeth's route through the palace during the prologue now that we have an actual map
Ooh they have a theater square
I feel like I should remember who Lanacin is given there's a monument
I'm intrigued by the Impossible Falls. Do they fall upward?
Well someone's being snarky about the gem time capsule
Huh the burdening the city with refugees strategy helps with sneaking in at least
Ah Unmade is a pretty good explanation for the wrongness
Wonder which one we'll get this time
Shallan's drawings are an Unmade detector?
So Shallan made Elhokar look somewhat reminiscent to his sister
Have we ever seen Jasnah and Elhokar interact cause they are siblings
How much do they interact?
Again Tarah is mentioned, when will we get this backstory
Well I suspected they'd spend time gathering intelligence. Can't waste that beautiful city map
Yes let Adolin and Kaladin be friends
Ah of course it would have been too easy to walk into the city
Yeah, there really isn’t a command structure it's this weird awkward place between a strike team and a DnD party
Heh Kaladin empathizing with the guard dealing with Elhokar
Ah Voidbringers of course we need yet another complication in getting through the door or rather a way to get in
Aaaa the conflict between staying incognito and wanting to protect
Battlefield tactics versus war tactics and Kaladin's knowledge vs Adolin's is kind of nice
This city is unsettling to say the least
Eerie spren parade and the spren are wrong
Pfft the person Adolin trusts with his life or more is his tailor that is perfect
Also is this why Sanderson said Adolin is going to wear something other than his uniform this book
Why did the Radiants abandon Urithiru? Was this before or part of the Recreance?
Shallan are you okay there. I mean I know you're not in general but punching oneself in the face doesn't feel like a healthy reaction
Oh she's trying to experiment with attracting spren
Elhokar I'm pretty sure it didn't take a dark spren for Aesudan to execute an ardent who insulted her
Shallan no not the scissors self harm isn't good even for scholarship
I wonder where the other Unmade were deposited
I'm guessing Purelake which has a plague, Horneater Peaks cause Song mentioned there was something wrong there, and maybe Shinovar just cause that'd be interesting. And maybe one’s chilling on Aimia.
Yeah I'd say something's wrong if you don't notice your own city is rioting
Oh Elhokar you sweet summer child your wife is a horrible person
Shallan don't you dare do something embarrassing to your party members.
The palace is going to be fun with all these people not returning classic
Like I'm amused at Shallan's dedication to science but also really concerned for her
The Cult of Moments? Oh lovely we have cultists too
Well that alarm spren explains the lack of communication and is more interesting than just Voidbringers magically block the signal.
Yikes though fabrials in general not working anymore
I'm really scared about anyone going into the palace
Pattern I agree Shallan telling her group about Veil is progress and frankly saves a lot of trouble since the illusions already would have hinted at it
I'm glad these records are candid. Also Aimia has hidden undersea caverns too I want to know more of that place as
What is it that makes fabrials different enough that they both have side effects in the case of soulcasters and attract these yellow spren. For the latter is it because of the spren captive since it seems the city's spren are wrong
Shallan's demonstrating increasing Identity concerns as her disguise is wearing a disguise
I feel mildly offended at Shallan taking Lyn's appearance
Oh lovely the cult is guarding the palace of course they are
Oh no a love triangle complicated by multiple personalities whyyy
Hey that is a bad line of thinking too Adolin isn't bland and it isn't right to tease Kaladin like she does
Well two pairs of eyes who pay attention to different things is useful
Those soldiers also creepy
Yeah you definitely needed to set a plot arc like this after the world had been firmly introduced so this unusualness would be jarring and disturbing
Shallan you and Veil are the same person
So much for Kaladin joining you
...That escalated quickly
Taking a leaf from Jasnah's book I see
Oh lovely eerie mirror with shadow that probably is now aware of Shallan's presence
Ah Pattern I love you getting excited over discoveries of human nature at a time like this
Yeah that was rather traumatizing
Oh god the puns
Shallan your denial isn't great long term
Not surprised the Windrunners and Skybreakers were in opposition
Binder of Gods though that is a concerning title
Which Herald is Kelek again and why would he be associated with the storms sometimes
Ishar founded the orders? And is the Herald of luck and mysteries and priests and possibly more mad than the rest I am concerned
So Dalinar has a permanent mental compass because of his Stormfather/Origin sense? That’s cool.
"Stormfather!" Yes? "Oh. Uh, that was a curse." Ah, the downsides of being bonded to the Stormfather
Heh I suspected that god priest of Tukar a moment before Dalinar mentioned him
Oh Ishar is the Bondsmith Herald that's concerning.
That's why Taln called Shallan one of Ishar's Knights cause it didn’t feel like he was the Lightweaver Herald
And he founded the Oathpact
Oh dear Connection is powerful and dangerous although at least there's the tradeoff of little battle application
Binder of Gods is just such a concerning name
I wonder if we'll get the other two Bondsmiths
Three-one for each Shard? Or other powerful Honor spren?
Aaaa answers about Stormlight?
Power piercing united across all three Realms spiritual energy got it
"The Stormfather hated to be misquoted" and will correct Dalinar's recollection of explanations that's great
I mean training with an Honorblade is a way to practice skills but I'm concerned cause there might be other risks attached cause we might not know all that they do
So if you held different Honorblades would your eyes bleed different colors
The clock fabrial dings now that's great
Ooh Azir we might finally see Lift in person
Everyone wants to drink the Stormlight XP
But yeah mentality is key not staring at Stormlight and wanting to chug it
Oh hey conflict looks like Bondsmith time
Heh Adhesion-induced time out
Yay Jasnah I missed you
"Odd how natural it looked to see Jasnah with a sword"
Yes Lift and Jasnah two of my favorite ladies unlocking an Oathgate
Wow a lot of people got sick of Urithiru. What were the rules?
Heh I forgot the Azish Oathgate was in a shopping district
Incovenient Oathgate locations are fun
The Blackthorn enters your city with some magical pens and a bagged lunch
Ooh Spiritual Adhesion and languages
What did Lift do with the street urchin dialect then is it an Edgedancer or a being partially in the Cognitive Realm thing
Are there Physical Cognitive and Spiritual levels of all the Surges
Magical diplomacy powers activate
I feel like Dalinar’s thought processes feel different with Connection activated
I love the Azish where an essay is the weapon of choice
And a backup essay with valuable schematics
Applause to Navani and Fen
I swear if there's a third essay by Jasnah
YES THERE IS
I love them nerding out over Jasnah's writing it's delightful
and also just the fact that Jasnah is using her awesome scholarly prowess
Oh right the fact that there are things on the platforms makes movement tricky
Well Dalinar the Alethi do have slaves and deny some darkeyes the right of travel and treat darkeyes in general like garbage so this logic protest is pretty sweet
Ah yes the economic disaster
That’s cool that the Azish Parshmen immediately started acting super logical and petitioning. Shame they got dragged into the Voidbringer army cause successful negotiations and redress would have been cool
Where are the Worldsingers for understanding
I hope Lift shows up
The pen is mightier than the sword Dalinar
I do feel like this is yet another downside of Alethi not allowing half the population to read or engage in arts that would help with diplomacy. Of course war is going to seem more appealing.
Yes Lift stole Dalinar's lunch excellent
"And your order?"
"More food."
Did I mention how much I love Lift
Hey they’re Nightwatcher buddies
Although She leaves a trace that can be sensed? Or sensed by Lift at least
I'm proud of both Jasnah and Navani for their essays
It's happening we're going to have a council yessss
Oooh big tragic flashback time
Shame that it ruined the moment of telling Navani her essay saved the day
Aww little Adolin
It's nice to see the character growth with Dalinar, still bloodthirsty, but planning, strategizing, thinking, explaining
But where is Renarin
It is lame that giving one’s parent a hug in public isn’t Alethi
Dalinar why must you neglect Renarin cause he's "unfit for battle"
Evi. Deserves. Better.
Also Renarin.
Helplessss
Obligatory Hamilton reference there
Yeah the whole contest mentality of the Alethi is messed up
Evi you don't need the Old Magic you're a wonderful person
You go Evi
Even if she's not a game of wits person she thinks and is right
Wonder if Toh is still in Herdaz
Sunken forests? Those sound cool
Seriously Dalinar remember you have a second son
Thank you Evi for defending Renarin
Evi deserves better
Evi. Deserves. Better.
Okay that Fused does have an aesthetic with the absurdly sized tassels and polearm
Mishim I know that name ugh why am I forgetting
"I believe that Honor himself is changing" I am concerned
Elhokar can draw. Further evidence that the shadows once lurking around him were Cryptics
Wait Elhokar makes the awesome city map?
Aww Elhokar making a decent plan and getting praise and glory spren just for that small thing
Thank you Adolin for addressing the elephant in the room of the ardent’s Theses
Shallan's infiltrating yet another sketchy group great
Ugh they're not letting the poor and children get grain and it's just going to lighteyes
I don't know how to feel about Shallan/Veil going "Storming lighteyes" she is one of them and hasn't done any self reflection so it just feels like putting on a mask than anything actually genuine
Odium trying to replace all spren with his own?
WIT
But the chapter header doesn’t include that jester guy. Will I ever understand the pattern.
He's wearing Sadeas colors really
Ha it's the story Sigzil tried to tell
Storytime with Wit!
Two storytelling scenes in a book I feel blessed
Huh smoke storytelling somewhat like what he did in Warbreaker?
Always interesting when Wit noticeably starts. He did that once before because of Shallan. What is it about her.
Heh well at least one person can see through Lightweaving. Of course it's Wit.
Oh is Tsa using Mishim's tactic against her
Oh Tsa was the trickster all along nice
Wonder how much is true and what is also a metaphor
Seriously Kaladin why did you lose the flute
Ohhh he can sandbend. Sand master. Whatever. Cause that's Taldain sand
Ah now we have the proper Wit header
Full Wit on the header
Hey Shallan and Wit are finally getting a talk this could be good for Shallan
Wait Hoid's lingering for a chapter rather than just jumping in for a story or cryptic lines what
"The Sibling has withdrawn from men"?
Chouta is everywhere
It's okay Shallan don't feel embarrassed at getting pickpocketed by an ancient trickster
Of course Wit would give tips on disguises
Oh
Looking back at the chapter the Veil persona did flee although it was the moment she heard Wit's voice
Good job Wit
Dalinar: Are you a Radiant?
Wit: Nope
Shallan: Are you a Herald?
Wit: Nope
"I'm not stupid enough to get mixed up in religion again. The last seven times I tried it were all disasters. I believe there's at least one god still worshipping me by accident."
Do tell
...
That's the most we've ever gotten of Wit
I'm reeling
Just even that thin sliver
I mean it makes sense, he’s more engaged in this world and thus showing he is more than he seems and thus author has to make clear that he’s not a Radiant or Herald but still
Heh me too re: applauding Sadeas being offed. I just fear the consequences for people I care about
“Aim for the sun” is a fun variant on shoot for the moon
Are we getting a Wit character moment he's actually be disparaging about himself
So many good lines in this chapter
"Be wary of anyone who claims to be able to see the future, Shallan."
*looks to Renarin with concern*
Ooh what group does the cult remind Wit of
The Heart of the Revel. Quite a name
I like that take on hedonism not being actual enjoyment
Yay Wit is going to get Shallan in
Why is Wit here then cause pep talking Shallan seems rather important
Pattern: He feels like...mmm...one of us
hmmmmm
