Here’s Miss Mina Murray modeling dresses based loosely on this gal:

The main tweak being the lack of a hat, the half-loose hair styling, and the floral detail being a beefed up spray of funeral lilies. Because I feel Mina is the sort of middle-of-the-road/pastel goth who is just restrained enough to not overly commit to the style--both due to Victorian propriety reasons and a big dose of self-repression--I imagine the funeral lilies of the green dress were as close as she’d allow herself to get to a stealthily eerie look. She genuinely likes it, of course, but the black-and-white version spoke to her even more. 

Alas, no to both. She didn’t have the money for that kind of splurge or the courage to spring for either, let alone both. Just a nice thought.

...That was absolutely conspired upon for her birthday. 

Lucy got her the green one and the skull brooch at the collar. Jonathan saved a private ‘Just for Mina’ piggy bank pile and used it for the black dress and the leather-bound journal. There were many a happy tear shed and half-hearted admonition babbled for throwing away money on her, and they were both wonderful, awful conspirators, how dare they, she loves and hates them, no she’s not crying, you both hush, and so on.

Because she considers them both too fine for ordinary occasions, she reserves their debuts for the Whitby trip. The green she wears while ambling about the shops and sights with Lucy. The black she wears when going out to sit with herself in the graveyard. Thinking of Jonathan and the seeming portent of his silence. (And later, when a certain letter from a certain Sister Agatha arrives, she dons it in happily morbid defiance.)

As the story stretches on, I imagine the brooch and the journal are on her at all times. It keeps her loves close. Always.
