Facendo seguito a quanto condiviso nel precedente post, divulgo oggi la seconda parte della selezione di fotografie scattate al Teatro Out-Off il 18 giugno scorso in occasione del Tributo a Claudio Rocchi.

Fu una serata di grande musica italiana e di un pezzo importante della sua storia. Una signora sfida fotografica, anche. Quanto io l’abbia vinta sta a voi, lettori di questo micro-blog, stabilirlo. 

Un ringraziamento di cuore va ad Antonello Cresti e Valerio D’Onofrio che mi hanno voluto impegnare in questo bellissimo evento.

SENSATIONS FIX- MOVING PARTICLES MUSIC IS PAINTING IN THE AIR: (1974-1977) (RVNG, 2012)

Finally got around to listening to this double-CD anthology, mostly comprised of alternate and unreleased takes from this group that was totally new to me before this year. I'm a little on the fence about the group material--though slowly warming to it--but anytime the set shifts to one of bandleader Franco Falsini's solo pieces, I'm consistently amazed by how vibrant his sound is.

This is a brief but captivating piece of solo guitar; its rippling phasing makes me wonder if Falsini was listening to Steve Reich at the time. Hearing it now, I'm not surprised that his lone LP (Cold Nose) was reissued this year on Spectrum Spools--the influence of this music seems pretty palpable in Mark McGuire's work and other current artists of his ilk.

Lost in time, now aptly recovered. The music here has a light touch, a seemingly effortless release that stands high above its contemporaries, both then and now. A master of his technical craft, but his hand strays from being overbearing, always being utilized as a tool to sculpt gorgeous textures, never as an end in and of itself. The breeze flows freely, skimming the surface in its constant state of flux, never resting in one area for too long. Sorrow-filled, hopeful, flinging here and there between moods and colors, shades and hues. A personal journey of freedom and discovery.
