Flash Fiction From a Flat-Chested Broad:  Chops.
Yegor’d finally made it.
He knew this because he drove an all while Range Rover just like the Kardashians did on American television.  He also had a hot wife from Thailand.  He knew this because his Russian boxer buddies wanted to bang her and told him as much.  She was also a perfect accessory in his Range Rover, which also had an all white interior.
This was important because he had to let everyone know his dog, Chops, was allowed to ride in the car.  In the bucket seats.  In the front seat.  No blankets or anything.  Yegor had to tell everyone because the ‘Rover always remained extremely clean and this only boosted his prestige because it indicated that he as able to afford detailing both the interior and the exterior of the car.
Very important.  Very.
It would be several years, of course, until he learned the truth.
The truth being that Las Vegas was worse than a WAG.  She had tired of her many lovers:  the big-ticket boxer from Eastern Europe, the promoters from New York, the arenas named after emperors and lions, the TV deals with HBO, and the legions of fans that no longer seemed to exist.
She instead directed her focus and attention and nails and high-gloss sheen and platinum blonde roots, that Yegor’d already paid for, fool that he was, and whored herself out on his time and on his dime to the mixed martial artists with their Latin names and tattoos and long trunks and new legions of fans with money to spend and PPV subscriptions to burn and on and on.
The truth also included the fact that he was never really very good.  His coach told him so.  He just had the right look and name and that fit with the East versus the West and Rocky and Ivan.  Drago.
Yegor’d known that the inevitable would eventually happen, but he’d also allowed himself to not think about it because what could would that’ve done?
The truth was much worse than that, though.  The fall much harder.
The truth was that coke was very expensive.  Yegor’d elected to ignore this hard fact of life as well.  Coke was also very bad and made Yegor mad and not himself.
How else could Yegor’ve explained away his knowing that his Thai lady-wife began life as a Thai ladyboy or that he sold off everything he’d ever won for a few kilos of coke?
The worst, the absolute worst, however, was when he sold off Chops for those final grams.
He was alone now.  Denial being what it was:
the ultimate drug.
