I don't know if this is in your purview, but in a novel I'm working on, the main character - the one who cracked my egg in realization, in fact - is a gay trans man who started transitioning at 17 in 2005, in south florida, just north of miami. i figure he started socially transitioning between 16-17 (he didn't have a lot of friends in high school) and medically transitioning at 18 while going to college, with the support of his lesbian mom and her transbian friend, his "aunt". what advice or input would you give me on what it was like to be in early transmasc transition in the mid-2000s? i've had a surprisingly hard time over the last few years finding out what personal experience of that was like. thank you for sending out the transsignal on this!
Your novel sounds fantastic and I’d love to read it someday! I’ll preface this post by saying that it includes brief descriptions of experiences with transphobia.
I first came out in Georgia, but began HRT in Florida, and even in the 2010s, it was a process. In order to start HRT, you were “required” to have lived as your “chosen sex” for a full year, as well as have a signed letter from a licensed therapist that indicated you had been in therapy for at least 1 year as well, and had been diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder. So your character socially transitioning from age 16-17 before getting approval to start HRT sounds accurate!
My insurance, of course, did not cover hormone therapy (or any kind of transition-related health care) and my appointments at Planned Parenthood were awkward at best, with staff asking tons of invasive questions out of fascination while continuing to misgender me despite my corrections. They weren’t necessarily hostile, but definitely bewildered at the idea of it. When I went to CVS to pick up my prescription for the first time, I was refused, and told that “we don’t serve your kind here.” I had to switch pharmacies to get my HRT filled. I was loudly and purposely outed by doctors, pharmacists, my dentist, and at a job interview. I was harassed repeatedly while out walking, at the laundromat, in other public spaces. I was threatened enough at my previous job that I had to quit.
I did not know any trans people in high school (I graduated in 2005). Looking back, I had a friend who fit the description, but was never out as trans. We likely didn't have the language to describe what it was at the time, especially since what little trans rep that existed in media was, well, very caricatured, and not typically positive.
Finding resources during that time was tricky too! In the mid-2000s, Tumblr didn’t exist - my first resources were Susans.org (a trans support forum and web site that’s been running since 1995) and Livejournal. I was able to safely connect with people in those spaces, and it was mostly through Susans.org that I found the resources I needed to start transitioning. If your character was well-off enough to have Internet access in the mid-2000s, this is what I’d recommend! Libraries were a resource as well for local communities, both for access to these emerging online spaces, and also for the few books on the subject which were invaluable resources during a time when info was scarce.
I hope this is useful! Feel free to reach out if you have other specific questions you're looking to answer!

It Never Gets Any Easier…
Tumblr media
Murderplier/Murder!Mark x Reader. There’s nothing explicitly romantic, I just wrote it with a relationship in mind.
I’m new to tumblr, so I’m sorry if this is formatted weirdly or anything. I’m not really active here, but I wanted to try it out. I’m so sorry this was my first impression. Murder’s name is Crow in this, and I got that idea from this post.
Warnings: Kidnapping, knives, implications of torture, no actual blood or gore but there’s some slight mentions of it. You’re serial killers, it’s messed up, but there’s no actual murder or extreme violence.
Summery: You and Murderplier pick up a victim for a special occasion.
The man in your passenger seat was still sniffling and crying from his previous encounter with the big bad Murderplier. He'd come to your car for help, banging on the window and screaming bloody murder, and you'd had to let him in.
It was a good thing he wasn't local, or he would've known two things: 1) there were several reports of the killer working with an accomplice, and 2) this was not the way to a police station.
Crow, who was hidden in the shadows of the back seat, was waiting for the right moment to spring.
He didn't have to wait all that long, in the grand scheme of things. It was late, nearly two in the morning, so there was no traffic on the small town roads, and your stop was only thirty minutes away. It felt like an eternity even to you, though.
So, when you pulled up to the old, abandoned cabin, and your passenger finally started to question you, Crow wasted no time reaching around the head rest and pressing a knife to the man’s throat.
"What—"
"Shh," Crow shushed him with a sickly sweet voice, free hand cupping your victim's jaw and tilting his head up. "It'll be over soon, Brian."
"H— how do you know my name?" His voice shook as he asked, eyes full of that delicious fear. You leaned over the center console to admire it. You couldn't get enough.
"We know a lot about you. For example: you're a pharmacist, you live in Georgia, and you're here on vacation with your wife. Fine lady, might I add. Me and my partner might pay her a visit after this."
"Please don't hurt her," Brian pleaded, tears now freely streaming down his face.
"How about we make a deal?" Crow was almost whispering now, mouth close to Brian's ear. It was strangely intimate. "You walk calmly and quietly to that cabin over there, and let us tie you up without a fuss, and we'll leave your beloved be."
"H... how do I know you're gonna honor that?"
"You don't, really," Crow tilted his head, making a face like he was considering new information, "But our word is all you've got."
"We're not unreasonable people, Brian," you added, pressing a finger to his temple and dragging it down to his jaw, relishing the way his neck tensed.
"We just have needs," Crow agreed.
"I..." Brian gulped, squeezed his eyes shut, and let out a harsh breath.
"Going once..." you started, looking to Crow for a moment.
"Going twice..." he continued, digging the knife a little deeper into the tender flesh of Brian's throat.
"Okay!" The man burst out, a bead of sweat falling down his forehead. "Deal. Okay."
"Sold, to the man in white," you smirked, leaning back towards your own seat and climbing out of the car. You couldn't wait to see how fast it would turn red.
You walked around to haul him out, and Crow followed suit. The both of you took one of Brian's arms, just in case, and man-handled him towards the cabin.
His credit, he didn't do anything besides look towards the heavens and cry as Crow duct-taped him to a chair.
You, meanwhile, made sure the toolkit was in order one last time. You set the drill— with no less than four spare batteries— to the side; that bad boy was your favorite. The room was already covered in plastic sheets, and no-one was around to hear the screaming, so you were really looking foreword to taking your time.
"Are you ready?" Crow asked, and you turned around with a bone saw in your hands.
"As ever," you replied with a grin. You offered him the saw, "Have the first slice, birthday boy."

With the increase in penetration of internet deep into Indian homes more and more people are now very much closer towards feeling comfortable for using electronic commerce. Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal among others is pioneering the driving towards distribution of consumer goods to and fro deeper into village markets.
This removes the difference of town market from the village markets. With the emergence of growth of mobiles and smart phones in people now finds easier to use apps instead of laptops and desktops.
Then comes the niche marketing phenomenon where we do find that more and more single product electronic ventures are coming up and this makes people believe this as the source of brand management.
Among other niche marketing concepts, netmeds.com has been emerging as the major electronic commerce in terms of medicines. It is trusted since 1914 and it has expertise in excellence of development of pharma in distribution of medicines.
Now, slowly it is turning into one of trusted medicine partners for many and there are many loyal customers including this author.
Netmeds.com is managed by Dadha & Company. It has more that 100 years of experience of dispensing quality medicines.
For prescription drugs users need to upload valid prescriptions and then wait for verification of these prescriptions and on average users find almost 20 percentages of rebates on prescription medicines.
For non-prescription drugs the percentages of rebate are lesser but still it is higher than the local markets.
It also offers best advice in order for providing best health services for people residing in India. Its search bar provides some interesting aspect for knowing of medicines.
It provides detailed generic medicines as well as the lowest value medicines on the same generic medicine levels. It has nice chat option which authenticates first with the phone number OTP and then it does ask for which disease you want a prescription for.
For most of pre-paid orders you get some cashback in their electronic wallets as well as some reward points. If you are using credit card or debit card of state bank of India then apart from 20 percentages rebate you will get ten percentages of cashback on your electronic wallet and those ten percentages of money you will have to spend within 31 days of the current purchases.
Apart from this for every purchase you will get some reward point and that accumulates slowly and becomes some rupees. So in this case you get awards from various sources such as rebates directly and then, money returns back to your electronic wallets and then get reward points which are then automatically changed into some rupees.
The time to reach medicines are very fast and these generally comes in the within three to four days. Packaging part of Netmeds courier service is very fine.
Most of the ordered medicines are packaged nicely so that you only have to keep it and use it. It offers generic alternatives to most of the medicines and for this the pricing of medicines becomes lower.
Most of offline pharmacy shops in yours locality do offers rebates on medicines but most of these rebates are mostly up to 11 percentages maximum. This compares to names which on prepaid offers on prescription medicines come far lower.
If you are on regular medication, then most of time due to the presence of heavy traffic, forgetfulness you missed the order of medicines from your favorite pharmacy.
Taking up medicines are important and for this regular and timely purchase of medicines is a must and for this with the conveniences of online medicine franchises such as netmeds.com, we do find plenty of ideas of how to save important timings in order to have comfortable medicine management.
With netmeds after ordering for a stipulated amount of rupees for medicines you get free of cost courier and also it provides a wide range of wellness products, vitamins, diets, fitness supplements, herbal products, pain relievers, diabetic care kits, baby care kits, other care products, beauty care products and surgical supplies.
In order to contact pharmacists which are a free service, online you can send questions y using either “Ask Our Pharmacist Your Questions” option available to all the drug information pages or by using the Contact Us segment. Netmeds is situated in Chennai.
In my last two months of experience with netmeds I have found paying with SBI credit card is not possible and payment with SBI debit card is possible and I hope they do rectify it.
All products are priced in Indian rupees. According to website they do not charge hidden prices. If by mistake they charge higher than they return the money in an electronic wallet to be used for reduction of price while ordering for next purchases. Delivery charges are Rs. 49 for all orders is however free delivery on medicines orders of Rs. 1000 or more.
After an order is processed the tracking number for your order is delivered and it reaches through phone and email registered with netmeds.com account.
After clicking of tracking order you will find the destination of your order and location of it. What I find convenience so far that I do not have to go to nearby Apollo Medicines for medicines and for some time one or two medicines will come later and for some time, I have to go there time and again to check the status of medicines.
For the last few months Apollo Medicines provides me ten percentages rebate and for some months now it is providing me 11 percentages but as comparing with netmeds I found extremely convenient for following reasons.
I just upload the prescription and it is approved within a day and then I ordered the products and got 20 percentages of rebate on prepaid order plus ten percentages cash back to my electronic wallet on the next purchases to be done within 31 days and then some extra points which will be slowly accumulating into some money after some purchases.
So, medicines reaches within three to four days and all comes with sorted formats and I do not have to worry about it as well as the savings are now much higher.
Technology aims to resolve the hardships for people and it remove the extra time and provides the leisure for you as well as it aims to provide another bunch of heavier rebates than that of offline shops.
This is because while dealing with electronic commerce you are dealing with business to business directly and thus removes, all bottlenecks in between, and the third persons and thus it able to provide share of their profits in terms of rebates to you.
Ultimately it is almost the similar situation that of the gain to all and removing all sorts of time limits those, are there for every human as valuable related to better health.

Our Statement of Purpose
Tumblr media
Here at the World Wide Wreckers we strive to provide all the disrespect to the masses, so that Joy will reign over tumblr once more!
You got the ills, We’ve got the wreck it pills!
How this will work?
You, anyone, everyone, can send us an ask Applying to be Wrecked or Send a Wrecker. This can be anonymous or not. 😉
What does that mean?
Well, it depends on what you want us to do. Let's start with the two types of prescriptions(aka asks) you can send us.
Applying to be Wrecked - This means you would like us to send you a ‘healthy’ dose of your bias wrecker.
Send a Wrecker - This means you want us to send a bias wrecker to someone else.
Both of these can be done anonymously or not as we won’t be answering any of these asks directly. One or more Pharmacist(aka Admins) will craft a special dose(aka post) and tag the patient(aka recipient).
What kind of Wrecker Dose can I send?
That is a very good question. We have a Di-Wreck-tory that lists out all of the different prescriptions that we provide.
For example, if you want us to send a soft wrecker dose to your bestie you would tell us in your ask something like this:
I would like to Send a Wrecker to @/url. Prescription: Soft Jennie from BlackPink.
One or more Pharmacist will then craft that dosage and tag the url that was provided.
Example:

Still stsnading cities
Try as hard to find a man that if u imagine him with ya, the nut fixes and, kinda, ya hair grows/spread forward, not stuck in the middle of ya head or get back as bald and that’s it. if u refuse the former case meaning u r destroying human race and in life after death lands ya in hell cause now u know it, i did not know wont be the excuse. Not kidding girl in any part of the world and even aliens.
With all the explanation as in tumblr sirjustice300, kinda, u see the most standing usa cities are Ny and Atl, which nears Ny as they are not finished with what they produce like Groundnuts, Rye, coca cola and pepsi while all others skyline reducing, New jersy capital also still standing out of Johnson and Johnson babay products as well as North carolina capital
In the small town of New Bern, North Carolina, local pharmacist Caleb Bradham invented the original formula of what would become Pepsi-Cola.
Wanna bomb judgement house in Minneapolis with missile and we got evidence to that as dark blood or if u place coin u see, the who to that city built on the hill that his inhabitants send missile to Europe that was found in Spain, It will be more tolerable than tire and sidion than that city inhabitants during judgement in life after death
Tusker brown bottles are made with molasses as the solution while inserting broken piece of the same in the boom process, while the green bottles are made with cut grinned grass as the solution as the transparent 1 made with outer scratched fish scale solution or white flower grinned solution both in the boom process dude.
If tumblr has an option on the email categories it chooses 4 you, only u look 4 the pas-code to avert the problem i have been explaining, visible to people if they check the a/c above which can be used in examination time as evidence to ya paper now getting the govt in limbo as corruption on that part is eliminated as many families bribed exams official to give their kids marks they ought not to get to get respect in the society or undertake some courses as these monies are heaped together even to develop some investments in the city like with 1-2 skyscraper or hotels or put vans on the road. Reason why Govts are shaken but somehow afraid as many loopholes are blocked so futile if they shift blame to the poor amounting to nothing bro
Click the link below and see china Senegal made arena as well we should have the same for like NBA to attract Continents sports to give the Govt money in tourists and tickets, go that way more than u used to go on all the loopholes now blocked.
https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/picture-shows-the-dakar-arena-stadium-in-diamniadio-on-the-news-photo/1036508598
U can place sensor lights/alarm bulb like tips on ya roof by making holes the same size as of the remote control bulb like pointing side to the machine and glue it with gum so rain water don’t leak into ya house to detect foreign materials like E-drones coming directly from above to land on ya roof to use that method to undertake crime or ambush ya and if not bulb like then cut ya iron sheet at intervals where u wanna place the sensor then from below glue a transparent glass on the cut squire hole piece from above and below to hold tight to not allow any leakage of rain water or snow into the gadget or unto ya house. It can be 5-10 cm squire hole depending on the motion sensor size as in the link below

The mean part of the kamba i know not exactly if its Saudi Arabia or vice versa as the Saudi which got that get mean kamba blood which luya people got but from far in the long run of wanting ya food but don’t listen to ya words as they sideline themselves as good people not having in mind what they have done previously. Many Kamba got the Serbia blood of not relenting as well as Kuwait people as kebi got that unrelenting blood while Most White-men of Kansas are of Austrian blood of helping hand but in-pretense that helping hand they get it all away leaving u in suffering. They played a good part to let us know of the Austrian blood cause we might have seek asylum their and with money we could have never know that bad character to still destroy the race. While Carli4nia beauties many got Embu blood of joining the bad but in-pretense as they are Venezuelan which got that embu blood while Brazilians got the batak tribe blood of Indonesia. Loving to tuck in the blouses or shirts as always official and somehow sharp in mind as “Thinking man, Tm”
The Dredger as in the link below got collector side on the hind part to collect the debris and soil that is produced while the dredger on its course which if full its allowed to get to the earth surface to empty as the same can hinder its up movement if it has no the dredger mouth on the hind part to let it out dude but if digging from below outside the earth the debris fall off to the outer world and the beauty bro
Transfiguration with Christ, the jew will rise as they will even make big holes like meter wide from below the outer world method as explained above but when nearing the earth surface like only 50 meter to the earth surface reduce that hole size to like sewer pipe 1, mostly with banks where money stored, corporation head offices and houses to kill those people, and on firm lands that harbor much harvest that they produce not like with Netherlands standing on their way to steal that produce or spoil the soil as in weed parable. Where in dark night, the 1 who transfigure many, get into the rye firm or wheat, get out the produce let it in through the hole 4 1 to pick it on the big vent using the E-cargo-drone technology cause they can change to spirit, take soil and trample on the hole not to be realized early morning and it goes on and on that way to make what they have produce much in boom process or in case of a factory serve detonate bombs their so they buy new a fresh servers/machines from producing countries as they got their share of doing their work good. Homey no kidding that was the entire plan with the “Jew will rise thing” cause without that now tucked how will they rice dude, which will be myth.
When 1 is qualified and the nut/bolt thing qualifies him 4 certain women while other women not being qualified by the same as above wants him by force and the man is renowned of positive attributes, if he is grown up yet don’t have that woman 4 long, kinda, makes the ground to want to like capsize synonymous with knowing a Kikuyu blooded man in squatting method way. Christ say take this cup of suffering away from me and king of the jew to cement the reality above and Kids and many people got that feeling as well, either they want to be next to ya or near u or being wild with u if u don’t sleep with women yet grown up. This even makes many building to collapse dude, no kidding girl and if women have refused the love 4 such me while accepting 4 others and even with money giving rise to bad kids which will later disturb the society.
My next tumblr a/c will be a continuation of sirjustice1-300 as i open new a/c from sirjustice301-400 to direct u later if i reach 400 to open again from 401-500 and it goes on and on add-inifitum as described below
With the below machines as in the link provided makes u locate places that grows much soya beans or corn as u locate oil with less side effects and which can be used as baby oil b4 u change another altogether
https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=corn+oil+mini-etracting+machine+china+made+images&client=opera&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiaxp6myLjqAhXIxIUKHaKACRoQsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=984&bih=658

Britain top export in the link below, is USA and the same USA u say its poor yet at the same time saying trying saving Britain, which if u look closely when USA has defeated ya will go 4 the 1 they claim they are supporting to ambush to take their lands which harbors rye 4 making durable airplane parts which grows not in their dry nation, the kikuyu blooded and that’s the main worry dude. Signs of snow to bring reality u have refuted that long ago here was not that and this nation as God can do the same, kinda, u see snow collected on road side to believe and make u less rich in food cause can only firm in non-snowy times and maybe whats the white man desires at the back of your minds

A New Family | Part 1
Synopsis: Rachel Jessop’s life changes forever the day she meets Joseph Seed, and the seven years that follow are not at all how she expected them to be.
Tumblr media
((So tumblr removed all my text from this post when I went to add a hashtag so here I am pasting it back in again *cries* there’s probably errors now haha))
Rating: M
Genre: Angst, Drama, pre-canon
Characters: Faith Seed (Rachel Jessop), Tracey Lader, Joseph Seed + others
Warnings: abuse, drug use, thoughts of suicide, implied sex
Length of Part 1: 6.5k Total Length: TBD
Disclaimer: I don’t own FC5 or its characters, only thing that’s mine is my writing.
a/n: Basically my take on Faith’s story as seen from her eyes. Who she is, how she ended up with PEG and why she stayed. Wrote this waaayy before all the “Did Joseph exploited Faith” drama came about. I’ve always been intrigued by their relationship/power dynamic so this delves into that as the story progresses. Also gets into the role that the Faiths play and why Rachel is different. Enjoy!
-------
I count the bruises on my arms and legs as I cry alone in my bedroom. Three on the right leg, two on the left. Four on the right arm, five on the left. I haven’t looked at myself in the mirror today but I am sure that my left eye is completely black and blue. There are fingernail scratches along my collarbones. Are they from my dad or from my brother? I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I run my fingers through my hair. Masses of strands fall out in clumps. Is it from being dragged across the kitchen last night? Or is it from the incident in the girls’ locker room two days ago? I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember.
I turn my nightstand around, looking for a secret stash of weed I keep hidden in case of emergencies. I find the plastic bag, but it is practically empty. There have been a lot of emergencies in the last three weeks. My backpack is sitting by the door. I head over to it and search the inner secret pocket. Another ziplock bag, empty except for a white powdery residue. I go into the bathroom, open up the lower cabinet door, feel around the upper inside and pull out another bag hidden between the pipe and the wall. Syringes. Empty.
My phone chimes. It’s Tracey. I hesitate to pick up. Deep down all I want is to talk to someone. Tell someone that it happened again, that I am back at the beginning, that no matter how much courage I try to muster up I keep falling back to this same place, dirt low, forgotten. Beaten. The only way up is getting high. That’s the only escape I know.
Tracey doesn’t need drugs like I need drugs. Tracey doesn’t depend on a leafy plant, or a fine white powder or a needle to numb her pain. Tracey is much stronger than me.
I swallow hard and pick up my phone, “Hi, Tracey.”
“Hey girl, how you holding up?”
Just hearing her ask the question shatters me. I hold in my sob, but my voice comes out shaky and weak, “I’m...not...not great.”
“What’s going on?”
“It was bad yesterday. It was really bad.”
“Your dad? Your brother?”
My  father is a pharmacist. Yet somehow, right after mom died, his years of education magically disappeared and he quit his job to start experimenting with homeopathic medicine. Since then things haven’t been so easy. He makes no money. We’re living in debt. He’s looking for a cure for my autistic brother. I try to tell him, because he won’t listen to his graduate degree, that it’s impossible, that David is going to stay that way forever and the only thing that is going to make it any easier on him is love and education. I tell him that and he beats me up. Whatever he cooks up in his lab only makes my brother angry, violent. I think it’s getting into my father’s head too. Sends him into these fits of rage. I go to bed hearing screaming matches between the two of them. I’m afraid that one morning I will wake up and--
I can’t think about it. I don’t want to think about it. I don’t have anymore weed. I can’t break down like this because I don’t have a way up.
“Both.”
“Those bitches from school?”
Don’t think about it, Rachel.
“Uh huh.”
“Oh gosh. I’m sorry girlfriend. Got that secret stash I gave you?” She’s referring to the pot. She doesn’t know about the other two vices.
“All out.”
I hear her sigh, “You know that’s for emergencies only, Rachel. Not for everyday use. You’re supposed to be getting off that stuff, you know? We’re trying to get you better.”
“I know,” I sniff, “I know Trace. Lately it’s been so hard. I just wish there was a way out. I know I’m failing. I know you probably think I’m a failure but I am trying, I’m really trying.”
She chuckles, but I can tell that it is loving, “Hey. I’m here for you. I’ll always be here for you. OK? I know it isn’t easy. You’re not failing as long as you keep trying. Speaking of which...I think I found a place for us.”
We’ve been planning on running away together, mainly for my sake but also for hers. I need to get away from my dad. And she, well, Tracey’s got it good, but she’s always seeking more from life.
“How far is it?” I inquire.
“Not as far as we hoped, Rach,” she sighs, “Hope County”.
“Well that’s about as local as it gets,” I say with dismay, “What is it?”
“They call themselves Eden’s Gate. The Project at Eden’s Gate.”
“What are they? What do they do?”
“Well they’ve got a sermon tonight at the Ranch in Holland Valley. I’ll drive. Wanna come and find out?”
“I don’t think my dad will let me.”
“Who said you need his permission? Come on Rachel. We’ve snuck out your bedroom window plenty of times. It’ll be just like the old days.”
I look at my window. Nailed shut with wooden planks. Tracey doesn’t know about my father’s latest attempt to keep me in. My door is always locked. My father keeps the key. I can only go out for meals. Meals that aren’t even worth eating. I eat a scoop of peas for dinner and drink a glass of milk for breakfast. I do have my own bathroom, and my own bedroom, but no connection to the outside world other than my cell phone. Which is why those secret stashes meant so much to me.
“Well...I really think I ought to ask first, just in case,” I look down at my bruised legs,  “I can’t afford to get into any more trouble. What do they preach? Maybe I can convince my old man?”
There’s a pause on the other end, “Just tell him they’re Christians. We are going to church.”
“Okay,” I pick at my nails, “I think he’ll be fine with that.”
------
Two hours later, blessed with permission from my unpredictable father, I am trying to cover up my black eye in the mirror. I don’t have a lot of makeup. My mother practically forbade it and my father continued the tradition. The only thing I can wear is concealer when I have a breakout, as every teenager gets. Otherwise he’s scared that I’ll get pregnant. But little does he know, back when Mom was alive, Tracey and I used to waitress at the 8-bit Pizza Bar while we were supposed to be selling girl scout cookies (sixteen is a little old for that anyway, in my opinion).  We’d pick up some good looking boys in there from time to time. It didn’t matter that I didn’t wear any makeup. Guess you could say I had that small town charm going for me. Or maybe it was the fact that I was an easy target. I didn’t have a backbone. I still don’t. The boys were genteel enough. Courteous. Charming. But the minute I got into one of their trucks their hands went straight for me. Not the steering wheel. My breasts. Not the stick shift. My thigh. As if they owned it. As if they won it over. As if it was theirs for the taking from the beginning.
I let them take it. I’ve forgotten how much I owe Tracey for all the morning after pills she brought me. Every night after it would happen, I’d throw rocks and her bedroom window. She’d come down to the front and let me in. We’d go to the backyard, sit in the rocking chairs. Tracey would roll two joints and always gave me the bigger one. She meant well by it, like how a grandmother always gives her grandkids the bigger half of a pastry, but for me it did more harm than good. I would take it anyway, inhaling long drags of the stuff and pretending the smoke held the power to disintegrate my memories, my pain. I’d tell Tracey what happened. Every time it was a variation of the same story, with the same ending. She’d listen to me until I was done, until I’d finished crying and letting it all out. Then we would go back inside. She would make chamomile tea and serve it with oatmeal raisin cookies. I always had at least three because of the weed. Then we’d sleep in her big bed upstairs. When I’d wake up I couldn’t even remember the man’s face.
She kept forgiving me over and over again. She tried to teach me how to stand up for myself. She still does. But she also introduced me to drugs. I smoked pot with her but I found my way into other things in the bad parts of town. Coke. Heroin. I do them when I can do them, which is not very often. I can’t afford it and I can’t get out of the house enough anymore. I don’t think Tracey ever thought I’d become dependent on drugs. I know she only wanted to help me escape. But for me, weed was a gateway drug. It opened up a forest of dangers. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I don’t have the self control that she does. Now she’s trying to wean me off of it. But she’s trying to cut off one head of the hydra. I need to smite all three if I want to get over this.
I stare at myself in the mirror. My complexion, once ruddy and bright, is now sickly, with tired eyes, bruises and scars all over. All of this makes me look like a corpse next to the plump small-town beauties full of spirit and life. I am a ghost. I float through the hallways like a ghost. I haunt my bedroom like a ghost.
I wasn’t always a ghost. I used to take care of myself. I’d lost about fifteen pounds since my mother died. My dad’s cooking is shit. Even though weed makes me hungry I never feel the desire to eat anything because nothing tastes good. My brown-blond hair (God couldn’t make up his mind when he made me, you see, at least that is what my mother would to say) used to be shiny with a slight wave to it, now it’s matte, dull, falling out in clumps and frayed awfully at the ends. I want to die. I feel like if I am a ghost I might as well be dead. I think I started doing heavier drugs because of that. Because I want to die, but I am too much of a coward just to kill myself and get it over with. Part of me hopes against hope that by getting out of this house and hopefully out of this town that I will find some reason to live again. I don’t want to be a ghost. If I’m going to live the rest of my life as a ghost I want to make that life brief, tragic and wasteful, like the duration of a tea candle’s flame.
The black eye is still visible. I do not know how many times I’ve applied makeup to it. It’s still there, especially in brighter light. I pull out my tube of concealer and shakily squeeze more unto the back of my hand. The tube farts. It is empty. I begin to roll it like toothpaste, trying to urge the last drops out. A dismal portion exits the tube in another fart. I toss it in the trash and use what I have, religiously applying it to my bruised eye and giving a little to my unaffected eye, trying to make them match as much as possible. It doesn’t reduce the swelling or the pain, but it looks presentable enough. I wish I had some lipstick, anything to put some color in my face.
I am not sure what to wear for this evening. I do not know if this Eden’s Gate church is a “come as you are” sort of thing or if I should put on something a little more presentable than my oversized pajamas. I open my closet. . My father burned half my wardrobe when I missed my curfew by ten minutes one night. But he left the things that my mother passed down to me. Probably some of the few things left that still remind him of her. I find a light green dress she used to wear. Mamma was so pretty. I don’t think I’ll ever be as pretty as she. I put it on regardless. It zips easily, for its rather loose. Just six months ago it was too tight. I was afraid I’d break the zipper. Now there is no I fear of that at all. White lace adorns the sleeves and my cleavage. I debate pulling the neckline down or up.
It’s church, Rachel, I tell myself, Besides, no one will want to look at you anyway.
The last thought bites. It’s a personal truth. I look down and rediscover the scratches. I tug my dress at the back, raising the neckline.
Fortunately the doorbell rings just in time. I leave my bathroom and stop at the door to the hallway.
Once you’ve been in captivity, once you’ve been locked up alone with your thoughts for long enough, once you’ve accepted that you’re stuck, you don’t bother trying doorknobs anymore. You’re used to reaching that hard spot where it stops turning and opens nothing. It takes me a moment to touch the handle. I know it will feel cold. I know the distinct shape it has and how it will fit into the palm of my hand. What I do not know is whether or not it will open. It might reach that hard lock. I might’ve gone through all of this trouble and not be able to leave.
Knowing this, I twist, hoping for the best.
To my relief, it unlocks effortlessly and opens without so much as a creak. I head downstairs to greet my friend.
------
Sitting in the chapel in the ranch, I feel so nervous. My body shivers. My hands shake. My heart pounds. I do not know if it is withdrawal or what. But I am not completely at ease. The people here are disheveled. Messy. Somewhat gross. The kind of person I would become if I let my addiction keep its grip on me. They are the types that my father would advise me to steer away from, however in his current state he is more like them than he knows. I am more like them than he knows
A tall, fit man with a full, well groomed dark beard strides unto the stage in a flourish of applause. He completely contrasts the people sitting in the pews. He is nicely dressed, wearing a fitted blue silk shirt rolled up at the cuffs, black vest, and tight jeans. His belt buckle is exceptionally extravagant. A pendant of some sort hangs from his neck. The crowd cheers for him. He waves, flashing a million dollar smile and a glint in his bright blue eyes. He’s handsome.
I turn and whisper to Tracey, “If I knew that pastors could look as good as he does I would’ve come to church a long time ago.”
She smirks and holds back a giggle, “You’re terrible.”
“He’s hot,” I say, perhaps a bit too loudly.
“Shhhhhh!” She tries not to laugh, “Behave.”
“Who is he?” I ask as if I were inquiring about a handsome stranger across a bar, not a preacher at the front of a church.
“That’s John Seed,” she tells me, “He doesn’t give the sermon. He’s just the opening act.”
“There’s more of them? Tracey, you told me this was church, not that mythical place where all of the hot guys in Hope County disappeared to!”
“Rachel, shut up!” She giggles again, but then whispers to me, “Don’t get your hopes up. He’s as good as they get, well, looks wise.”
“Bummer. That means we’ll have to fight for him.”
“Rachel!”
Our laughter is camouflaged by the cheers and shouts from people in the pews, phrases like “Oh John!” and “We love you!” and “Praise our brother”. I observe the scene. Sometime during our banter two other people entered the stage. One, a very tall, burly, fearsome man with a long frizzy red beard and bloodshot beady eyes. He holds a large semi-automatic rifle close to his body, and scans the crowd meticulously for possible threats. Though he wears the uniform shirt of the U.S. army, his demeanor is not one of honor or pride, but of sickened, disillusioned duty.  The other, a girl, with thick yellow curls and a bountiful bust contained inside a too-tight white dress. She has slanted, sultry green eyes. There is a whorelike, slutty quality about her despite her conservative dress. But she is undeniably beautiful. I self consciously remember looking at my own chest this morning. Scratches everywhere. Nothing to be proud of. I run my fingers through my mousy hair, wishing I’d washed it. The beautiful woman holds a bouquet of flowers, with several blossoms strewn throughout her golden locks. She smiles at John.
I roll my eyes out of jealousy and look at Tracey, motioning to the girl sitting on stage, “Don’t tell me it’s a wedding,”
She shakes her head, “Oh no, that’s his sister. Faith. I don’t quite know if marriage is a thing here or if they’re all about brotherly sisterly love or if it’s just one massive orgy. I have no idea.”
I laugh at her raunchy train of thought. This is the Tracey I love.
“And who is Mr. Scary over there?” I whisper, trying not to make it obvious who I am talking about.
“Oh, him?” She whispers back, “I don’t know...He wasn’t here last time. I don’t exactly know what the gun is for, either.”
“Maybe he’s exerting his second amendment right?” I tease with a horrible attempt at the stereotypical Hope County drawl.
She looks at me. It’s not funny. “Why do they even need guns?”
“Tracey. We live in Montana. Everyone’s got guns here.”
“I know… but something’s not right.”
I look around the room again, “Maybe his job is to stop desperate bitches like us from throwing ourselves at that hottie over there?”
She bursts out laughing.
Our conversation is interrupted by John’s voice, “Brothers and sisters, welcome!” he proclaims, arms outstretched.
Applause. Tracey and I join in. At the moment we are spectators, like flies on a wall carefully observing but not yet involved.
“I want to tell you,” he continues, “how wonderful it is to see all of these new faces in our home this evening.” His eyes find mine momentarily. I’m intimidated by his strong presence yet also trying my hardest not to swoon. “We hope that this is just the beginning of your march with us.
“I want you to think of the life you’ve led before now. Of all the pain, of all the hardship, of every road you’ve turned down that felt like a dead end. I want to assure you, brothers and sisters, that the ship you’ve sailed across a sea of hardship is about to dock. I give to you a new captain who will guide you to an island of paradise. My brother, your Father, Joseph Seed!”
The crowd stands, clapping and cheering, holding their hands up in praise. The church doors open, and the blazing golden sunset from the west illuminates the doorway, revealing the silhouette of a tall, broad shouldered man. The light comes through his yellow tinted glasses, creating two glowing dots on the ground in front of him.
He moves with a serenity. There is a comforting sense of peace, a radiance that surrounds him. His suit jacket fits him well. His long hair is tied in a small bun on the crown of his scalp. He carries a white book with the symbol of the Project etched in gold on the cover. A rosary is wrapped like a bracelet across his right wrist and palm.
I cannot yet see his face. I too am standing, on my toes, craning my neck around the people in front of me, squinting. Finally when he reaches the stage, he turns around, and the crowd goes silent. They return to their seats. I am the last to stay standing.
Our eyes lock like magnets. I do not need to hear his voice. He does not need to utter a single word. A look comes across his sullen, rugged face. He catches his breath. The room is completely silent. Time slows. My heartbeat pounds. He looks as though he has seen a ghost. I know I look like a ghost. Perhaps it is that I seem so weak and sickly that common sense says I should not be standing here, I should not be in this room. But I am. And I know, somehow, deep inside myself, that I am destined to be here. To meet him. His expression changes from one of shock to one of recognition, a longing for something far off in the distance which yet appears so near. A red string of fate ties the two of us together before either of us can object. But like some perfect private secret, I am afraid that anyone else caught on to it. As my awareness returns to the room, I sit. He swallows hard. I try to look away but I can’t. I’m already entranced.
He speaks right to me as he begins his sermon.
“It is fate that you have come here.”
His words are chilling. They pierce me.
Joseph continues, “It is God’s divine plan that you are here today. Whether you’ve devoted yourself to this project or if this is your first time with us, I tell you that you are here for a reason. This is no accident. This is no chance.”
His speech, though indirect and addressed to a crowd, feels so personal. It is as if despite all of the people in this room he is talking to me and me alone. I know that it is no accident, that it is no chance, that I am not confused. The connection I feel with him is mutual. In a sea of strangers I am seen. We see each other.
“Just as such,” he goes on, respectfully connecting with the others in the pews, “your existence, your very entrance into this world, your birth, your conception...all is for a reason.”
He cannot stand it long. Joseph looks directly at me again and reads my soul like an open book. “You who have felt lost, unwanted, undesired, and unnecessary to the world: have no fear. You have a purpose.” He assures me, “Your life is designed to have significance. Even when the road is foggy, when the path is untred and you know not which step to take, know that God has a destination for you. I have a destination for you.”
My eyes well with tears. For the first time since my mother died, I feel safe. Sheltered. Believed in.
His voice, like silk, his words, like music, envelope me. “When all doors have shut against you, when your friends and your families turn their backs on you, I will be standing here with open arms. I accept you, my children, just as you are. There is nothing you have to change. No one else you have to be. You are loved here, just as you are. And you have always been worthy of that love.”
I break.
When the people around me hear my sobs interrupt the silence of Joseph’s pause, they turn to me with a look of celebratory joy on their faces. A woman on my right with very few teeth and hair bordering on dreadlocks pulls me against her bosom and holds me. Two young men reach back from their seats in front of me and pat me on my shoulder. Now the entire church is watching me, overjoyed. Someone starts the applause.
I feel a new hand on my back from my left side. I turn, expecting it to be Tracey. But it’s not. It’s the woman in the white dress from onstage. The sister.
“Come with me,” she beckons.
I don’t know what this means. “Wh-why?”
I look at Tracey. For the first time she’s looking at me not as my best friend. She seems bitter, disgusted, as if I’m filth. Trash. Foolish. Petty. As if I had no soul.
Faith speaks softly to me, “The Father wants to meet you. Won’t you come up?”
I laugh through my tears, “I’m interrupting the service.”
“No no no,” she’s overbearingly gentle, “Please come up. Nothing would make us happier.”
“Go to the Father,” the woman holding me into her bosom says, lifting my torso towards Faith. I take the sister’s hand, and she walks me down the aisle towards The Father who awaits me by the altar.
When we reach it, Faith hands me over to him and returns to her seat.
His hands are smooth and cold. His eyes, up close, are a vortex behind his yellow glasses. Full of wisdom and peace, as if he had reached that Nirvana the Buddhists dream of. He’s good looking. Not in the way that John is good looking. John is the kind of untouchably handsome, out of everyone’s league yet inside every girl’s dreams. The Father is approachable yet with a true sense of authority, like all fathers should be.
“What is your name my child?”
Intoxicated by him, I forget it on the spot. “My name?”
“Your name.”
“Rachel,” I swallow, “Rachel Jessop.”
His lips turn up at the corners.
“Tell me, Rachel. What is making you cry?”
I search for the answer in his eyes and find it, “The feelings that your words are bringing me. Feelings of safety. Salvation.”
He holds my face in his hands, “Salvation from what, dear Rachel?”
Feeling all eyes on me, I choke up. “F-from my life. From my agony.”
He nods slowly, knowingly.
“And what gives you this pain?” He continues to hold my face so that I cannot look anywhere else except straight into his magnificent eyes. More tears come.
My next words are succinct, for I’m clinging to my composure. “My father and my brother beat me. I’m bullied endlessly by my peers. I don’t feel safe anywhere.”
He continues his knowing nod. “My brothers and I know intimately of your struggle. Don’t we?” He looks to John and Jacob.
I see John nod in my periphery, but Jacob makes no expression whatsoever.
Joseph’s left hand softens into a gentle caress, “What else, child?”
He pulls the words out of me, words I am sure I shouldn’t even say in front of so many people. “I abuse drugs for help,” the rest is a stream of consciousness through my tears, “I’m a rat. I rummage for anything I can get my hands on. I always thought I deserved this life… like I did something irredeemably wrong and my circumstances are a consequence. I take every blow and I let others take from me… but there is no hatred in my heart for anyone except for myself. I don’t blame them. I think it’s all my fault.”
He sighs, looking at me with pity and understanding, “What if I told you, Rachel, that none of it is your fault?”
This concept is foreign to me, “How?”
“The pain you suffer is not because of your own personal ills. If that we’re the case, why aren’t the money grubbers, the corrupt politicians and greedy business owners punished with the same abuses you experience?”
I look at him blankly, “I don’t know.”
“It’s society that is sick, Rachel. It’s the ills in society which are responsible for the pain and the suffering of the innocent. It’s not your fault. They don’t understand you, so they try to take you out.”
The clouds part in my mind. The sky is clear. I’ve never thought of it it that way. I never considered that I am not the problem.
“But here,” He touches my forehead to his. I adore the feeling. “Here you may be saved, Rachel. Here your differences are celebrated. Put to use. Here you can be fulfilled and you can be happy. That’s what this Project offers.”
The Project, on their cue, claps again, pleased with the power of their leader’s message. Joseph looks straight into my eyes. I feel his anchor sinking in to me. And I know I will follow him into the darkest depths of the sea.
“We will talk more, Rachel.” He says. I am passed back to Faith and seated beside her. She holds my hands tightly.  Joseph continues his main speech to the rest of the crowd.
“The world as we know it, as we see it today, is full of fog. Clutter. Sin. Distractors from our destined path. My children, can’t you feel that the world around us today is not the world that God intended to create? You, like Rachel, who have found yourselves here today as a result of his divine plan must be aware, even if remotely, of this fact?
“Let me tell you: God is angry. God intends to wipe this world clean again, the way he flooded the earth allowing only Noah and his family to board the arc. We are once again approaching a storm. Which is why, my children, God spoke to me. He has called to me to reach out to all of you, to each and every one of you, that you might be saved. That you might be redeemed. That you might discover your purpose and follow the path which he has set for us. My children, won’t you take my hand? Won’t you take hands with me, my brother Jacob, my brother John, and my sister Faith and join us in our march to Eden’s Gate?
“You do not need to decide tonight. But I hope that at the very least, I have planted a seed.”
John is the first to laugh at his closing statement. Jacob again, has no reaction. As the crowd catches on, the chuckling grows. I myself laugh through my tears, but when I look in the audience, I see Tracey scowling.
---------
Crickets conduct their nightly symphony as Tracey and I walk through the long grass back to her pickup truck. She’s quiet, but her anger can be felt loud and clear. She’s walked a few steps ahead of me the whole way.
“Tracey,” I stop her, grabbing her hand.
I look into her dark eyes, those eyes that know more about me than any other soul on this earth. My closest and dearest friend.
“What’s wrong?” I ask.
She scoffs, “What the hell happened between the two of you just now?”
I know she is talking about the moment I shared with Joseph, then my emotional breakdown and our uncanny closeness that took up a bulk of the sermon.
“I don’t know,” I tell her, “I haven’t quite wrapped my head around it yet.”
She crosses her arms for warmth, pulling on her long sleeve t-shirt. “It was...awkward- no, uncomfortable, no-- Rachel what the fuck was that? What the actual fuck was that?”
Suddenly I reread a beautiful chapter in my life as if it were some sort of vulgar oddity. I’m embarrassed. I look down.
“Look, Rachel.” Tracey sighs, “I know there are some things we don’t talk about. I know that everyone has got secrets. I just wish I knew before we came--”
I look up at her, confused. “Knew what?”
She swallows. “I shouldn’t say anything. Who am I to judge? I mean…”
“What are you trying to say?” I demand defensively.
“Nothing!” She puts her arms up and takes a step back from me. “Let’s just go home. Your dad is probably worried.”
“I don’t want to go home.” I tell her. It’s the truth.
She gives me a look of shock and confusion. “Rachel, these people…there is something not right about them.  They’re apocalyptic. They’re all talking about willing to die for that man. It’s like they’re being brainwashed. Some kind of new age Japanese kamikaze squadron ready to blow themselves up! Not to mention they look like a bunch of crackheads.” She puts both hands on my shoulders and looks me straight in the eye, “I want you to get better, Rachel. I’m afraid these people will just-just exploit your addiction. They won’t heal you. They’ll make you worse.”
“At least I don’t feel like the odd one out!” I shout at her. I am more frustrated with the situation than with my friend. “I don’t know how much more I can take! I don’t want— No, I can’t go back to my dad, Tracey. I can’t go back to school. I’m already failing. It’s not like I’m going to graduate. I’ve got nothing! I haven’t eaten a proper meal in three months! What am I going to do with my life besides waitressing or prostituting myself or having some rich man’s kids? This place…” I start to tear up, “I know it’s not perfect but it’s better than what I have now.”
She scoffs. “You know that you’re better than that Rachel.”
I laugh, but I’m exasperated. “I don’t! I fucking don’t! I’m not like you, Tracey! I’m not smart! I can’t get a degree. I don’t have a mom who supports me and takes care of me.”
I’ve wounded her. “You know that’s not what this is about.”
“And you know what?” Tears stream down, “I’m not your fucking charity case.”
“Well what makes you think you’re theirs all of a sudden? What makes you think you’re  his all of a sudden?”
So that’s it.
“You’re jealous,” I call her out.
She laughs it off. “Sorry, Rachel. I’m not jealous of your forty-something schizophrenic preacher boyfriend.”
Our argument becomes petty, like that of two bratty schoolgirls, the kind of people we have never been before. “He is not my boyfriend.”
“Oh really?”
“Why would you even say that?”
“Well you sure seem pretty close don’t you?”
“I don’t know what happened!” I yell. “I never met that man before tonight! You heard me on the phone! I had no idea who this group was or what they do!”
Her mouth twitches. “Well you’re a damn good liar Rachel.”
“I’m not lying!”
“You’re trying to tell me that the little scene you made back there wasn’t planned?”
I shake my head. “I don’t see how it could be.”
“And I don’t see how it couldn’t be.”
“Tracey!” I try so hard to get through to her, but nothing is working, “I’ve never lied to you! Not once in all these years!”
She’s quiet.
“Why don’t you believe me?”
She sighs and looks away.
I know that she is jealous. But I realize in that moment that she is not jealous of what happened to me tonight. She’s jealous because she can’t believe that I can find peace and happiness in a different place, that I can find it with people other than her.
“They aren’t trying to fix me,” I say with an angry, disillusioned certainty,  “All you ever do, all you ever talk about is trying to fix me. You believe that I’m broken. You want me to be broken so you have something to do with your life besides sit in your nice fucking house with your nice fucking family. All I want...for God’s sake all I want is to feel like I have a purpose. I don’t want to be someone else’s purpose, Tracey. I want to be my own purpose.”
Tracey continues to avoid looking at me. She glances in different directions, looks at the ground by her feet. “So that’s it, Rachel?”
“What’s it?”
“You’re just going to throw our friendship away?”
I want to shake her. “What? No! Tracey that’s not what I said!”
She glares at me. “I’ve been here for you. I’ve fought for you for the last three years. We’ve grown up together. I’m sorry that’s not enough.”
“Tracey!”
She’s running to her truck. I try to follow her, but my lungs and legs are weak.
“Tracey!”
She’s too fast. I feel dizzy. My vision starts to blur. I try to pick up speed.
“Tracey I didn’t say that!”
She doesn’t turn around. She doesn’t look back. Gets in her car, starts the engine. The lights turn on and she speeds away.
I watch her tail lights fade. I’m sick of the taste of my own tears. I’m sick of this life. I drop to my knees and grip the grass as hard as I can with my fists. I scream into the blue night sky. What is the way? Where is the path? What is my life supposed to be? Who am I now that I have no one? I can’t walk home. I don’t want to walk home. I could call a cab but I don’t have any money.
If I go home, I don’t know if I will ever get out of the house again.
I hear Joseph’s words in the back of my head. I remember them almost verbatim: “When all doors have shut against you, when your friends and your families turn their backs on you, I will be standing here with open arms. There is nothing you have to change. No one else you have to be. You are loved here, just as you are. And you have always been worthy of that love.”
I turn around, take a deep breath, and run back to the ranch. It glows with warm light from inside. It’s the only light I see.

Disaster Medicine--Brittany’s Personal Experience
Hey there everybuddy! Aunt Scripty here. Everyone’s favorite Brittany (of previous masterpost fame) is back on the block with a story from working in an ER during a flood!
Keep in mind reading this story that Brittany was a medical student when these events took place, and names have been changed to protect the guilty (I almost just typed “donkey” there; I’m tired. But protect the donkey!!)
Also, this post confirmed a suspicion I’ve had about Brittany for a while.... she doesn’t actually have a tumblr. THat’s why I keep not knowing what her tumblr handle is and scouring Medblrs looking, unsuccessfully, for her.
Clever, Brittany. Very clever.
And now, on to the post!
Hey y’all!  Brittany, back again.  I really do need to bite the bullet and get myself a Tumblr one of these days.  I wanted to do a quick post on something that’s more a personal experience than a medical overview this time, so we’ll see how it goes.  It’s not so much general writing advice as what I saw, but I figure at least parts of it should be universally applicable to a character in a disaster.  Feel free to steal whatever suits your fancy!
Earlier this year, I worked in the ER during a substantial flood that put about ¾ of the city underwater—the kind of thing that made national news, with people getting rescued off of rooftops, the National Guard swooping in, all of that.  I don’t have enough experience to speak to the entire disaster response, but the healthcare side of it was fascinating, so I wanted to write a little bit of that.
Our particular flood was so bad because it was a steady, heavy downpour that lasted for more than a week, rather than one really bad flash flood scenario.  That meant that it started off subtly enough.  That first morning, I kept getting flood warnings on my phone that pushed back later and later, and on my way in to work I saw a puddle on the way to my car, thought it was small enough I’d just splash through it… and before I knew it, I was knee deep, and not even halfway through.  After a quick trip back inside to change scrubs and switch shoes, I headed in in time to start the afternoon shift.
The ER that day was interesting; fewer people came because of the weather, but then, fewer nurses were able to make it in because they were dealing with closed roads and flooded houses. Weirdly, though, you still kind of feel distanced from everything there—no one was coming in for flood-related injuries, so it felt like the flooding got put on hold. Finished up around 10 PM, stepped outside, saw that it was STILL raining, and when I got home, my parking lot was flooded.
The next day was when it really started to hit that we were in trouble.  My hospital already had a minor nursing shortage, and as the weather got worse, there was a risk of them leaving for home, and being unable to come back.  So, right at their shift change, when maximum staff would be present, the hospital called a “Code Grey,” which was where certain personnel (ie nurses) had to stay at the hospital until further notice due to weather.  It was a problem for a lot of them because they had kids at home or in daycare, not to mention it’s not as if their own homes were immune from flooding.  Things settled into a strict structure for them; nurses who were absolutely sure they could make it home and back were allowed to leave briefly to grab an overnight bag and arrange things for their kids, and everyone was put on a regimented schedule of shifts and breaks with mandatory sleep times in the hospital’s auditorium.  “Non-vital” staff, on the other hand, was sent home and told not to come back until things improved.  (Petitions to count the hospital’s coffee shop as ‘vital’ were shot down.)
And from there, we basically had to roll up our sleeves and deal with what came to us.  We started to get more flood-related injuries that second night, with a lot of people who had slipped and fallen in the water, breaking bones/hitting their heads, hypothermia from staying in cold water, car accidents from the driving conditions, that kind of thing. I guess in movies or whatever, it’s always direct drowning, but it’s the indirect injuries that are actually worse/more likely from what I can tell. Even more notably, there was the delay in getting run-of-the-mill patients to us. One guy had your standard chest pain, but the ambulance got stranded in the floodwater—not drowning, just couldn’t move—and it was two hours before they could get a chopper to him and pull him out to the hospital.
I wasn’t sure if I could make it home and back that night, and even though I’m a student and could be excused, I didn’t want to.  It sounds selfish to say but, well, it was great learning for me.  Plus I wanted to help.  I stayed in one of the resident call rooms (think a teeny tiny hotel room for residents who are at the hospital for 24 hours; if their patients are stable at night, they go there to nap), and from there the days start to blur.  The major events I recall include:
—A major hospital near us closed its ER.  It was surrounded by water on three sides, with their ER about to go under.  They started evacuating all their critical patients to us in anticipation of things going south.  I don’t think they actually flooded, but to be safe, they had most of their patients moved to us, plus we were hit by more ER patients because there were fewer places for them to go.
—The National Guard moved in to help.  A friend of mine actually got some really cool pictures of the Blackhawks landing at our hospital, but the main result for us was they were ferrying in patients with a lot less thorough handoffs.  Normally, we get paramedics that will tell us about the patient, what field medicine’s been done, a list of conditions/medications the patient has, and so on.  It’s not until those are all missing and you’re staring at a delirious, blank slate patient that you realize how nice you had it.  And, hey, they were doing what they had to to make sure everyone got to safety, I’m not blaming them, but it did make our job more difficult.
—As time passed, we started to get more sequelae of the flood as well.  Someone who had cut their leg as they walked through dirty flood water on the first day, and came in four days later with a suspected infection.  A lot of dialysis patients who couldn’t get to dialysis and had their electrolytes all out of whack.  Patients whose seizure or heart failure meds had all gotten wet and/or been lost in the water and were now suffering from the lack of them, that kind of thing.
As things eased up a little and I hit a couple of scheduled days off, I decided to volunteer at the shelters as well, where there were medical facilities set up, and that’s a whole other ballgame.  First of all, I should say that the people who figured the whole thing out were awesome.  I think a couple residents who were supposed to be on vacation started the whole thing, basically roping off a couple of side rooms for a makeshift clinic in each of the major Red Cross shelters.  In those first few days, while national medical disaster teams all geared up, it was the local doctors who kept things running, and the response was surprisingly efficient/informal.  They basically all connected through social media, set up shifts, and asked for volunteers.  I know some doctors who didn’t go home for days because they were swinging between the hospital and shelters, but a lot were also outpatient doctors who, with their clinics closed, were able to devote a lot of time to the shelters.
And, as much as the doctors did, the other personnel there did just as much.  We had two teams of paramedics standing by to transport any critical patients to the hospital, pharmacists who were getting in touch with all the local pharmacies to get any meds we might need, nurses on triage, and so on.
About the same time as the rain stopped, the state/national disaster teams arrived—the thing about a flood is it’s hard to get into the area if you’re outside of it.  They definitely provided a lot more manpower, which everyone was very grateful for, but kept a very close working relationship with the local people.  The locals all knew the hospitals, knew which pharmacies were still open, and what the patient population looked like.  The two of them working together was absolutely critical; no heroic swooping in from the outside and taking over, it was a huge joint effort.
And… that’s pretty much it.  As always, I’m up for answering any questions!
(Also, re-reading this, I worry that it’s going to sound like I’m some hero or martyr or something.  No.  I was in a bad place at a bad time.  I’d like to think I responded well, but I was in no way critical to the response.  The actual doctors, nurses, techs, and paramedics—not to mention the search-and-rescue workers—were vital and amazing, but I was more an observer than anything else.)
And here’s your favoritest Aunty again! I hope this post was helpful and useful for all of you about what an ER might look like during a disaster.
I left the last paragraph in to show you all something interesting (I hope Brittany doesn’t mind). Med humans are less likely to give credit for good things happening than we are to take credit, at least in some situations. We often both blame the patient “I can’t get this IV, he’s got terrible veins”) and credit them (”I literally do not know how this guy pulled through”).
Take some credit, Brittany. “All hands on deck” means everyone from environmental to nurse’s aides to pharmacy to, yes, even students, pitching in, doing what they can, and Making Shit Run during the disaster.

Am I pessimistic or just real?
Most of the time I feel like I'm accidentally surviving my own life. Not to sound like I'm bitching, but I don't have any idea why I'm alive. I've been trying to keep my life simple, but found out that is a very complicated and arduous task. I, physically, am 30some years old, and deeply know my spirit or soul or life force or whatever you want to label it as is old as fuck. I'm a little odd, I've been told, but when you realize early in life that nobody anywhere knows what in the bluest bowels of Hell they are doing, you start making decisions that TRULY matter on a high, VERY HIGH, level of deep understanding. Not to sound like a preachy zealous god-freak, but preeeeetty fucking sure we live in and on the garden of eden as mentioned in that book written 2000ish years ago. You know the one, oh... it has that bearded guy in the middle east who was the Christian God's son, but was a Jewish king, a rabbi, a carpenter, and who led a gang of misfit trouble making hooligans that wanted to make life better for everyone and ended up dead and martyred for it and is currently the nearly-nude mascot for countless kitchens and bedrooms in thousands of American homes. Jesus, what is that guy's name.... anyways... that book. I'm not great with names, nor hiding sarcastic remarks or, OR blatant disregard for that which really does not matter.... uh, uh, uh, oh well. Back on topic now. Ready? On this "bestowed paradise" of Ours, there are a few shitty things that I just WILL NOT turn a blind eye to. I got this list, you see, that has the WORST possible inventions on it that the world could have done without. Number 1 is people... People are needy, greedy, dumb, panicky, self-centered, talking alien-ape hybrids that ruin and destroy almost every thing they put their grubby little peter-beaters on. We kill for thrill and pleasure alone or in packs and have this problem understanding what compassion and sharing equally are. I did two years of kindergarten, consecutively I will add, I know you are supposed to share and be nice or something like, oh I don't know, your behavior is checked, and you learn to play with others. And now number 2 (insert low-brow sophomoric butt-mud poop-shit-fart he he he coment here. I did, but think up your own.) my list. Borders. "We look different in skin color or you talk funny, uh oh, I no longer have trust other human being, stay away from my personal comfort zone. We'll be fair though and draw a line in the dirt in case you get the same vibe from me. Ok?" "Ok, good idea. Me and my family will kill you otherwise maybe, yeah, no, yeah. Stay away. Good job." Are you shitting literally me out of your dumb asses? Where is the logic and practicality in that. We let famine happen daily because, what? Noone knows what to do? Help your fucking human brothers and sisters, and the little ones if your heart has room, you apathy ridden bag of severed dicks. This is everyone's home right now, teach people who have no knowledge. There is no such thing as unteachable. Read between the lines here guys and dolls. Break time. Let me tell you that I'm not being a rude loud obnoxious Internet troll here, some of my rants and tangent ramblings have a twisted sense of humor and are meant to make you take a minute and chuckle at its finest absurdities. Oh my, but we can also be multitasking manimals and take some inventory of ourselves and the other manimals in our lives and have conversations with each other like we're meant to. Anyone over 27 will remember a time before everyone had a fucking idiot screen in their face at all times. (Heh, jokes to come.) What separated us from beasts is our ability to develope and utilize language. To any younger folks reading this: we used to sit at the same parties you all do now, and used our minds and speaking abilities to have a blast. I'm talking some wicked-awesome fucking ideas and fun times were had before the wedding of man and technology. Put the phone down, and step away from the screens. Please. Number thwee, sorry had, food in my...nevermind. money is next on my little list of things I see as wrong. If a person has a lot of money, they generally have a lot of stuff to make sure they're happy beyond worry. On the other end of the spectrum you have... anybody? Class! goddamn kids pay a-fucking-tention! You have a person with little to no money. I will spell this out for you and you know who: that person can't be happy beyond worry because, huh? Some people have been going ape shit on their own happy. Hmmm. Opposite of happy? Right, thanks Julien, smart guy you are, UNhappy. I hope I just made a Julien's mind blow apart. Lol. Now, monetary wealth is referred to as worth. If you gots like soooooo much worth like it's bananas and stuff, then your like totally worthwhile or worthy. Julien, let someone else try now, get your tongue out of my ass you brown-noser. If you ever want to be heart broken ask the poor kid at an elementary school how he feels after the first recess after Christmas break. I bet the word worthless crosses both your minds and you purse your lips and them real big empathy tears well up in your eyes. That kid is programed to think money and worth are the same thing, and will do what he or she can to make sure they ALWAYS HAVE money when they grow up otherwise everyone else will know they are worthless. Made myself cry a little bit there. Guns guns guns are 4 on this list which may make you laugh or at best pissed. In case you missed I'd be remissed if I didn't say you need to come up with your own rhymes and eloquence. Guns though are made for one thing; ending lives. Plain and simple, keep reading you left wingers and right wingers both. The eagle that is the U.S. of A needs you both to work together in order to soar. I have really upset myself with saying that, but it's out there now, ain't it? I feel everyone should have gun training and own a minimum of three guns open carry on a daily basis (we've already got them and they've seemed to dug their heels in so we might as well adapt with the fucking things.) A semi-auto rifle for hunting food, a shotgun for food/eminent defenses, and a pistol for protection of family and home. Common knowledge for everyone should be stated from an early age: IF YOU DRAW A FIREARM ON A FELLOW HUMAN BEING, BE SURE THAT YOU CAN MAKE THE CONCESSION THAT YOUR LIFE HOLDS MORE VALUE THAN THEIR'S THEIR POSSIBLE DEPENDENTS. DO NOT SHOOT TO MAIM. IF YOU DRAW, SHOOT, AND SHOOT TO KILL. REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS TOO, AND IF YOU KILL THEM. YOU MUST LIVE WITH THE MEMORY OF YOU NEEDLESSLY TAKING A HUMAN LIFE BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOUR LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN THEIR'S. guns huh? 5. Prescription drugs. Pharmaceutical companies are not your friends. Especially in the world of psychological medication and pain management. I take aspirin on occasion, in my younger days I was always told I "needed something to help me." Help me do what? From the age of 11 until I was into my mid twenties I've been on damn near everything besides Haledol and Geodon. Thanks for being good dealers...I mean doctors and pharmacists. If you want to ask my diagnosis I will share, but let me say that I haven't taken nor would I recommend any person to give a child DRUGS. They are not safe because they are prescribed. Ritalin is molecularly identical to cocaine. No bullshit. They are training kids to be druggies later in life and parents and insurance companies pay for it. Act now and for $799.00 a month you won't k ow who you are, have bleeding of the teeth, lazy finger syndrome, backward stools, brain bleeding episodes, coma and death, but wait there's more. If that pill doesn't work simply tell us and we will give you some other stuff that will make sure your little boy grows tits like a woman and may have a compulsive gambling and or masturbatory addiction with possible suicidal ideation. At least he'll do better on his homework. Fast forward to early adulthood... "oh mummsy? Daddykins? Whatever do you mean I'm no longer on your insurance plans? I simply must have all these pills to be completely the best I can be." "Gee you can just acquisition the local the scumbags who clandestinely make and distribute the bad version of the same drug you've been on for your whole life, my golden child." And don't forget the ssri's. Google this shit kids: ssri's long-term effects on the mind and body. And finally number 6. Social networking. I've never had a Facebook, MySpace, twitter, or anything else. This site I found accidentally while bored and this is my first time posting anything anywhere. The negatively charged part of social media is shit like; omg I 8 a waffle cone with chokl8 chip cookie dough ice cream scoops. Kill yourself you fat cow. Oh boo hoo sad face.... So long cruelty of this place, I have been wearing my life inappropriately I've been informed. Good bye 14 years. Wrapping up at this point as I've said enough for now. I'll be that eccentric and hilariously unfiltered buddy of you get my styles here. Just need to vent sometimes. Help me with Tumblr if you're interested in that... I guess. Looking forward to seeing responses. It should be noted that I have the utmost respect for any religion but abhor the use of faith as a means to control and not gain a better relationship with divinity. I'm not a doctor or political ass hat. I'm a song writing free-spirited music loving real deal motherfucker. "And I didn't even graduate FROM fucking highschool." I.Q. is up a bit above above average. No, that is not a typo.

Guidelines For Selecting Pasadena Community Urgent Care
By Brian Turner
Anyone who tends to get a medical issue that is not life-threatening should seek medical intervention from an urgent care center. There are a few aspects that define whether a center that offers such services is ideal enough. This article provides various tips for choosing Pasadena community urgent care that one can think through. Consider the location of the center. A reliable urgency care center should be a quick car ride away. If you cannot find a place that is within your reach, then you should consider relying on local clinics. If you want to decide whether a particular place is ideal, you should not take more than forty-five minutes to reach out to it. Most online booking platforms would provide an estimate of the period that it will take to reach out to the clinic. Decide on a place that can use your insurance coverage. It is expensive to afford urgent medical care out-of-pocket. A lot of end up incurring financial difficulties since they do not consider the possibility of using their insurance before they seek such medical intervention. The best way to use your insurance is by getting a list of all medical centers that accept the coverage from your insurance company. Find a place that offers convenience. Convenience is critical when choosing this kind of medical centers. There are a few aspects that define a convenient urgent medical center. These elements include the possibility of offering weekday and weekend extended hours and affiliation to a more significant medical center. A place that can provide extended hours guarantee attention even without the presence of a primary doctor. Look for a place that is transparent with its expenses. You can end up spending more than you can afford if you do not check for transparency with the firm that you choose. A good center should provide a clear outline of the procedure that they use to consider their expenses. Most centers determine their costs according to the extent of services that they offer to their clients. Find a place that provides comprehensive services to cut down your expenses. Inquire whether the center can connect you with a primary doctor or specialist. You need to find a center that has integrated with different specialty related to common urgent medical conditions. Relying on such a center will ensure smoother follow-ups, test and more effective care with time. Beware of the staffs that the center has at their disposal. A reputable center should be in a position to handle various medical activities and have multiple experts at their disposal. This means that it should have a primary physician, nurses, lab technicians, and a pharmacist. Confirm whether these experts have experience and are available at all times as well. Ensure the place offers online booking. The internet has made various services to be effective and convenient for clients. Look for a company that has an online booking portal that clients can use to make appointments and provide a short description of their condition. Such decisions will reduce the time spent on diagnosis and waiting for an opportunity to get an appointment.

There’s no ‘conspiracy’ in Ontario pharmacies — just flawed regulations that aren’t helping patients
There is a vast criminal conspiracy involving every pharmacy in Ontario. At least that’s what recent media coverage of the province’s pharmacy sector would have you believe.
In January, CBC’s The Fifth Estate aired an investigation into allegations of unlawful rebates being paid to pharmacies throughout Ontario. Since the government fixes generic drug prices throughout Canada, manufacturers, unable to compete on price, will sometimes use rebates or allowances as incentives for a pharmacy to offer their products to customers, although such rebates were restricted by the Ontario government in 2010. The CBC, out to expose what passes elsewhere as normal competition, used hidden cameras, a shadowy Deep Throat figure in a parking garage, and even a fictitious drug company to add melodrama to its portrayal of rebates as a systemic evil confronting the province’s taxpayers.
“The problem of illegal kickbacks inflating your drug prices is very real,” intoned the show’s host over ominous music playing in the background.
90% of Canadians don’t want pharmacare jeopardizing their drug coverage. But it could
Trudeau spreads the Big Pharmacare myth that scores of Canadians can’t afford medicine
Lowering the price of new drugs comes with too high a cost — Canadians’ health
Of course, in most Canadian provinces, generic drug manufacturers can pay allowances to pharmacies on the purchase of their products as part of ordinary market competition. Ontario restricted this practice based on the then Liberal government’s misguided belief that rebates resulted in higher prices for customers. In actuality, rebates have minimal bearing on prices, which depend on a host of other factors.
But The Fifth Estate’s contention was that the practice is nefarious and, worse, that pharmaceutical companies and retailers in Ontario had figured out a workaround, by providing “marketing fees” and other forms of support to pharmacies that CBC says are just rebates in disguise.
The program placed much of the blame on one company in particular: McKesson Canada, the country’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler and owner of retail businesses such as drugstore giant Rexall. The host even surprised McKesson’s president in the parking lot of her Montreal office, a classic ambush interview technique.
The show followed up a 2018 episode that alleged that Costco was circumventing the rebate rules, after which The Fifth Estate was tipped off that others were doing it too. Subsequently, Ontario’s Ministry of Health announced in February that it had indeed fined Costco over $7 million in connection with an investigation that it had violated the province’s restriction on pharmacy rebates prior to August 2015. “The Ministry takes non-compliance with the prohibition on rebates seriously,” officials said.
Finally, it would seem, justice was being served to a pharmacy sector that’s been undermining the public interest. What a story! Unfortunately, it’s wrong.
Simply put, the restriction on generic rebates is flawed public policy. It doesn’t save the province money or serve any kind of purpose in the interest of public health. All it really does is make for good investigative television drama at the expense of hard-working health-care professionals who have their lives upended and are made out to look like crooks. It is grossly unfair and utterly senseless.
My company, Kohl & Frisch Ltd., does not own any retail or manufacturing businesses in Ontario. We are an independent Canadian pharmaceutical wholesaler, more than a century old, and McKesson is in fact our largest competitor. If anything, its negative portrayal in The Fifth Estate should be something that pleases us from a purely competitive perspective; after all, our corporate reputation wasn’t dragged through the company parking lot by the CBC the way McKesson’s was. Yet our interest lies in having policies that are both fair and sensible in fostering a sustainable and cost-effective pharmaceutical industry.
Ontario’s restriction on rebates checks neither box. Generic drug prices in Ontario are consistent with those in other provinces where such rebates are legal, and where your local pharmacist doesn’t have to worry about hidden cameras and wiretaps whenever someone walks through the door.
Crackdowns on forms of pharmacy support like marketing fees won’t benefit the government or consumers. It would simply leave bigger margins with manufacturers and promote greater consolidation and vertical integration. This is especially a concern after Ontario proposed last year to admit private label drugs in the province. The result would be large drugstore chains marketing their own generics and essentially generating their own rebates by making margin on manufacturing — all while squeezing out generic competitors prohibited from offering rebates. This would represent a major long-term threat to independent pharmacies in Ontario, not to mention untold manufacturing jobs, while also undermining patient choice in the province.
The irony here is that governments are already seeing major savings on generic drugs. In April 2018, the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance and the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association announced a new five-year pricing plan that will save the country’s health-care system up to $3 billion in drug costs. Further government actions with respect to price and private label manufacturing could actually end up increasing consumer costs, by dissuading generic-makers from competing against their pricier brand-name counterparts.
So, if the restriction on rebates doesn’t serve any constructive policy purpose and actually works to unduly disparage a whole community of health-care providers, perhaps we should ask ourselves where the real problem lies. Is it really that your local pharmacist is part of a broad conspiracy out to swindle patients and subvert the health-care system? Or did well-intentioned policy-makers simply miss the mark by unnecessarily restricting rebates?
Instead of further crackdowns, policy-makers’ energy would be better spent considering common-sense reforms to create a fairer and more sustainable pharmacy sector.

Cultural Criticism
Cycle 4, Day 16
AUTHOR’s NOTE: THIS WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN YESTERDAY, THEN TUMBLR ATE IT
So, I went to bed last night the minute I noticed the light doing weird things (that’s usually a sign of incoming hallucinations), so I decided to skip the psychedelic festivities and went to bed. Those crazy hyper-real dreams are back. I had a weird one where I was walking through my childhood house, although the windows all had different views. I had the nasty-post-infusion hangover I get after chemo, but I was still up to helping Dad on the latest DIY project: Replacing the light fixtures upstairs. Okay, so he did most of the work, I just lifted heavy stuff (I’ve been nuked and poisoned this year, I’m too tired to add “electrified” to the list). He also had to go  into the attic to replace the mounting brackets; thank Gods he didn’t need me (although, since it requires very careful foot placement to get around up there, it might not be an act of kindness so much as just basic pragmatism). Also, with the fiberglass up there and my weird luck, I could see the eventual headline: Local Man is First Definitively Cured GBM Patient, has Mesothelioma.”
I also woke up to the ongoing Roseanne scandal/epidemic. To borrow Dan Harmon’s idea, if my doctors treated cancer the way we treat creeping fascism in this country (Roseanne has a long history of assorted semi-fascist statements, even when crusading for leftist causes), I’d still be waiting for the pathology call. And, just as I decided not to screw around and went to the very best (a little more background research on the Warlocks suggests their research goals are figure out how to cure this thing), I’d recommend we got to the experts. Sadly, Eisenhower and Churchill are dead, and we’ve pissed off the Europeans (who haven’t had a solid fascism infection in decades). Fortunately, there is someone available:
Tumblr media
Please note, I am not advocating any sort of harm against racists, just  Nazis or Nazi Sympathizers. Non-Nazis have nothing to fear. If you feel threatened, perhaps you should examine your beliefs (and wardrobe).
Yes, I made a joke about killing people. It’s awful, I know, but what you probably feel there is a very small glimmer of what sick people feel when politicians talk about revising lifetime insurance caps or ending the ACA. It’s what black people feel like whenever they hear about “stand your ground” laws being expanded. It is, in short that we have a system that forbids the king from directly killing or discriminating the group, but he and the cronies can re-jigger it to their liking to make the odds of survival - much less economic success - much lower. No one’s calling for genocide, yet, and that’s only because we’re getting better at zapping the careers of people who might normalize that.
Roseanne makes my personal shit-list twice for bad-mouthing ambien. Ambien is a sedative used for severe insomnia. I’ve used it on and off over the last decade, but I’ve never done anything that weird (admittedly, I take it about 30-ish minutes before bed, then go directly to bed; I don’t take it and stay up for hours, BECAUSE THAT’S NOT HOW YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO USE IT (the nurse practitioner who served as my college’s medical officer told me, take and go to bed ASAP; I had a roommate who’d take it and stay up, then have no memory the next morning). Again, if a drug isn’t working as it should, seek proper medical advice. Or just use the drug like your doctor and pharmacist tell you to. I guess I’m the last person on Earth who feels tired after taking ambien.
Anyway, getting back to the more uplifting general theme of this blog - cancer - helping install those stupid lamps gave me an epiphany. Although Dad’s generally a laid-back guy, I did see him, on a few occasions recently, going to pieces about the wrong screw size. I understand that sort of thing, but I realized something. Cue Kenny Logins.

That is the OODA loop (image courtesy of The Art of Manliness, which also has a great primer on what this is and how to use it to your advantage). In the 1950s, Air Force Col. John Boyd developed the loop after studying dog fights and noticed the pilot who cycled through the loop faster won (the reason why “Act” feeds into “Observe,” you get to begin again with some new data if that action a less-than-ideal outcome)(also “Orient” has less to do with your position in space, and deciding which prior experience/education/model is most-applicable right now). And, even though it’s still mostly-applied to the military, but economists, psychologists, and other assorted soft-science researchers got ahold of it, and discovered; it’s a really good model for complex decision-making (you probably already use it subconsciously), applicable in a wide-variety of ways, including... major medical decisions.

To pull together the disparate threads here, brain cancers are dangerous and unpredictable because they spread and grow quickly, and have few signs and symptoms in the early stages. But, add into that a patient who has just received VERY frightening news and very little info/treatments to orient themselves and I’d imagine you’d be flying almost blind for the first two Os, and praying that “decide and “act”  do it. I realize this seems like I’m blaming the patient or the doctors, I’m not, I’m just saying I got really, really lucky with physicians who seem to have enough experience in this thing to successfully orient themselves and so far the “Act” part is workiing. Maybe. We’ll see.

I want it to be fairly new, and look good. I can spend up to 2000. Hope you can help

What is a typical range of costs for teen auto insurance?
I have to say - this field is RIPE for a good consumer survey that gives some general ranges of insurance by state or region. Nearly everything online - (correction - EVERYthing) on line links to get quotes from insurers (commercial sites) . Fine, but suppose a kid is in the early stages of learning about cars and parents are new to the kid driver insurance game and they just want to get a feel for ranges of prices based on region, car type, first time driver, male/female, etc. Let's assume a modest new car in the $25,000 new range and a responsible kid with middle income family - good insurance history. The new driver is added to current parent policies. Is the range $1000 to $3000? Or narrower ... $1500 - $2500.""

Making a New Auto Insurance Quote versus Renewal on Same Insurance Company Costs Less?
Making a New Auto Insurance Quote versus Renewal on Same Insurance Company Costs Less? My auto insurance will expire very soon and I noticed that I haven't received any renewal offers from my current insurance provider. So without hesitation I visited their official site and did some new quote. Virtually, I am a new customer if I choose to purchase this quote -- which will cost me only $380.00 Two days later, I finally received a renewal offer via e-mail. Take note again that this is the same insurance company, same insurance policy coverages, same policy number -- But there's a difference! To renew, it'll cost me $518.00 To my startled mind, I made a quick visit on this existing policy account online and checked the declarations page for this renewal offer. Unfortunately for some reason, the website cannot display this said page. What's going on here? Could there be a conflict if I choose to buy a new policy with presumably will make a new policy number with the SAME insurance company? Is there some sort of money making scheme going on in here? I have been informed also that if you create a new quote, and purchase that new quote BUT from the same company you appear as a virtual new customer but having the same name and complete information. Is doing so ok?""

What cars have cheap insurance for a teen?
Not looking for some online thing with only a couple new cars. In YOUR experience what cars have the cheapest insurance? Right now I'm looking for any beater as looks really don't matter too much as I'm only gonna pay like $500 or a little more depending on the car and only going to drive it for 3-4 months or so (unless its a classic) because with the job I am getting next month Ill be able to afford a much nicer car and insurance in no time. I got a quote for an 03 civic si coupe at 400 bucks a month (while on my dads insurance) I am 17 and thats too much for me right now heck i could buy an old beater civic for that much. So I'm thinking going back as 90's and up (I'm all for classic cars but I dont think the insurance will be any less because they think all old cars have massive and fast motors and are death traps. I like this 87 monte carlo ss that isnt too old but again the insurance sees ss and adds another $100 -_- ) theres also a 76 camaro with a 305 that I really like and its already yellow! (bumble bee anyone?) though i dont know how the insurance would be for that. It's just a regular one as there was no z28 option in 76. Now I'm thinking what about the early 90s civics such as the hatch? though I would guess insurance would still be high because they are easy to steal see my frustration no matter what cheap car i think of insurance finds a reason to skyrocket rates What cars can you recommend me that I can get for a grand? cheap insurance and cheap gas would be good too but if the fbodys arent too bad on insurance then i dont care about the gas.

Is that even possible? My reasoning is this: I am 26 and I am self-employed. I am basically just looking for a bare bones plan that will have the lowest premium possible and I actually care more about emergency care than doctors visits. You see, I don't get sick often and don't plan to go to the doctor a whole lot...I just want something in case of an accident and the whole low premium w/ high deductibles thing won't help me...I'll be stuck with a sky high bill to pay off if I stay in the hospital. I'd rather have emergency coverage and simply pay out of pocket for a doctor if I have to. Is there a plan out there in NY that fits this? Anyone know? HELP! I make too much money to qualify for Healthy NY or another low income program..but not enough to reasonably afford a normal healthcare plan when factoring in rent and student loans. (If this isn't a reason for universal healthcare in the US, I don't know what is)""

What will happen if I retire at age 60 in terms of health insurance?
Since the affordable care act was affirmed I guess by the Supreme Court, if I retire at age 60 and get my own health insurance, can I get my own insurance at a discounted rate? I'll have no income when I retire. I will have about 2 million dollars saved and will take some out to live of course. If what I take out is less than $43,320, can I still get insurance at a discounted rate? Also I guess my rate will be same whether I have a pre-existing condition right?""
I have an old pickup truck but can't find a price to get an insurance quote.?
I'm working on a 1972 International model 1100 Eight pickup truck and can't seem to find a price for it in todays market. I've looked on every automotive web-site I can think of, but they have every make except International. I'm trying to get an insurance quote over the internet and I really need this. I paid $400 for the truck itself and about the same for new parts. The guy who owned this truck before me said it was originally a one ton pickup, but the bed was switched out with a three ton. I know I have to add the price of the new parts, but all I want is an approximate base price. I'll take any advice, web-site, or anything else relevant to my needs.""
Would you let me collect on your life insurance?
What would I have to do to collect on your life insurance? If I bought you life insurance and paid the premium on it and paid your funeral costs and paid your family 20% on the insurance policy would you let me collect on your insurance?? This is considering that you cannot afford life insurance yourself.
