🌱 Dragon Slayers: Evolution 🌱

This took a long time, but it was so fun to practice drawing full bodies (and cats 😭) for once! I actually sketched out the concept for these 3 pieces months ago— and recently decided to commit to proper drawings :D

[These pieces were for pure nostalgia, and to revisit media that was part of my artistic journey as a tween! I know the series has major flaws— the treatment of female characters, tasteless fanservice and poor relationship writing, to name a few. I despise these aspects, of course.

I want to make it clear that I drew this art to explore something that shaped my younger self's work. I don't condone Mashima's writing choices, nor did I even keep up with the later arcs of the story and the spin-off(s). Thank you for reading!]

Eclipse Gray

I really want to know why Eclipse Gray killed Frosch?? Like yeah he lost control of his devil slaying powers BUT WHY?!.

Why did he specifically target the cute little bb frosch?. I feel like both future Lucy and Rouge didn’t explain enough// which makes since considering they were in sort of a rush//, all the dragons attacked and killed everyone but Lucy was alive for awhile and natsu, everyone else must of parished from all the events because we see them in Lucy’s version of heaven. However, Gray had to have still been alive as well bc future Rouge said “a year from now Gray will kill Frosch”. like wth kind of cliffhanger is that?!. And did Gray start killing other people?? And if he did which one’s. I also want to know who killed him, I don’t think Rouge ever mentioned that he killed Gray after that incident so his demise is kind of up in the air.🤷‍♀️

would’ve been cool if Mashima made some sort of short story out of what happened during that alternate universes timeline. Who knows, maybe we’ll get more answers in the future. Anyways, please let me know your theories of what happened in the comments I’d love to hear them. I’m done blabbing now bye bye👋.

Slayers and their exceeds relationship (or how i see em anyways)

Natsu and Happy- Absolute best friends. Attached at the hip always but skewed a lil bit towards caring big bro and bratty lil bro who roasts the hell out of his big bro but always runs to him regardless and talks a lot of shit because he knows his brother's always gonna have him back so he can get away with anything.

Wendy and Carla- Sisters around the same age or close enough, but one takes it upon herself to be the bigger, responsible one and the other just humours her because she knows its coming from a place of genuine care and thats how she expresses love.

Gajeel and Pantherlily- Battle partners. Partners on equal footing with rough pasts but in different directions learning from and teaching each other. Very stoic from the outside but rag on each other in lil ways. But also Pantherlily likes to exert his old man privileges and push Gajeel's buttons to get him all extra riled up for funsies.

Rogue and Frosch- That's his blorbo. His skrunkly. His emotional support friend. His meow meow. Very protective of his lil comrade. Frosch enjoys the protection and the babying because sometimes they do need the extra love like that and they know that Rogue needs someone to baby sometimes too.

Sting and Lector- This is just the same person copy and pasted in a cat font.

If I actually return to this site in full (and not just as a lurker, as I am currently) it will probably be for Fairy Tail, but also, some of the posts in the tags for my favorite ships scare me, so like, idk?It seems like the antis get pretty intense. Well during this Fairy Tail rewatch I got to the episode where Frosch gets lost and tries to find his way back to the Saber Tooth Guild...did anyone else forget there was a part where Tatsu from Way of the House Husband shows up with a butterfly net and gets into a turf war over him?
