Hello, I had a question about image descriptions regarding text. If the text has a "typo" what do you think would be the best way to write it? (For example if it's an actual typo, like "Hllo" instead of "Hello" or if it's short hand like "ppl" instead of "people") should it be written exactly so it shows what is actually in the text, or should it be written out entirely (with a note about the spelling maybe?)

Hello! So, the general consensus is to just write it as you see it including typos and errors. Most of the time screen readers do fine with missing letters or the person using it already know the common shorthand and abbreviations people use. The only time I personally would add a note about a typo or mistake is if it's an image description (not alt text) of a piece of art (or a meme) and the errors or typos have a visual meaning.

That being said I'm just a visually impaired person on the internet who doesn't rely on descriptions or alt text so I just relay what I've learned myself. I do try my best to find blind and visually impaired opinions on these things, though.

Audhd culture is knowing non-verbal people share about how saying you "go nonverbal" is offensive to them but as someone who experiences days where I am nonspeaking (but have to speak anyway which is tough) and times where I am fully nonverbal and physically can not make my mouth say words for hours on end I am unsure wether I can say this or not? Because I am not fully verbal? And going nonverbal actually is a great descriptor because i physically cannot speak sometimes. But I dont want to be offensive, but other terms feel Bad and like they're... itchy. Idk.

1. THE OWL HOUSE. genuinely helped me so fucking much it's embarassing. it genuinely gives me so much hope and helped me. A lot. favorite show ever.

2. she ra. watched shadows of mystacore for the first time after leaving a shitty situation and it healed me a lil ngl. just,, I relate to the characters so much. it portrays so many different ways people can handle abuse, so many different ways abuse can look, it's so important.

3. arcane. it's just. Objectively, one of the best shows I've seen. just in almost every way. the characters are awful and REAL people , so realistic and awful and messy and mean that it hurts. these are people making awful choices and not always being morally right and in politics and just a very very good show.

4. skull island. underrated show! not a relatable situation but the characters are well written enough that you can imagine yourself there.

5. avatar. do I even need to explain?

6. infinity train. I will never forgive HBO for what they did.

7. amphibia. such a realistic depiction of messy teen friendships and how bad they can get and also the joys of them and just. coming of age froggy show my beloved.

8. gravity falls. stan made me ugly sob.
