U know how the sigil drained ppl of thier magic cuz they had bile sacs n stuff right? Im sure that shit hurted, they probably felt it being squeezed 2 a pulp. But like Hunter he doesnt have a sac, he doesn't have magic. He IS magic. Like he's made of all these strong powerful ingredients and old bones, his entire bieng & structure IS magic!!! Guys the the coven brand.. was he fuking DETERIORATING???? WOULD HE HAVE DISENTEGRATED OR SOMETHING IF THE SPELL HAD KEPT GOING???? DID HE FEEL HIMSELF LITERALLY BREAKING APART AS HIS BODY DECAYED???AS EACH SINGLE PIECE OF HIMSELF WAS DRAINED??? WOULD THERE HAVE BEEN ANYTHING LEFT?? HELLO???GUYS?

Oh my fucking god. Ok so we all know that Eda's curse is a metaphor for disability. And in the end Belos tried to use his "disability" as an excuse to his actions and EVEN COMPARES HIMSELF TO EDA. This perfectly shows explanation vs excuse. Eda never uses her curse as a excuse for her actions, holds herself accountable and tries to do good things, while Belos uses his curse as a scapegoat for his terrible actions even thought NONE OF HIS ACTIONS EVEN HAS TO DO WITH HIS CURSE!!!

I’ve thought a lot about how Kikimora absolutely gave Lilith permission to call her Kiki, because she isn’t scared of Lilith and there’s no way she’d let Lilith call her that if she didn’t want her to. And also about how of the people who canonically regularly call Kikimora that, Lilith’s the only one Kikimora isn’t afraid of. (Unfortunately for me I’m obsessed with them and I know full well that I’m probably going to get nothing in the finale.) But do you have any thoughts on them?
I didn't until now! But when I do think about it, there's definitely something there, especially if you bring Philip into the mix. So basically what you have there is:
The Emperor, who is a) a human pretending to be a witch b) pretending to be looking out for them all and c) pretending to respect and/or need both Lilith and Kikimora. He knows he can't hurt Lilith because she shows up in his past and helps him and so he keeps her close. He hates her, by the way. That's why he keeps her around. He hates her so much because I think he's a little bit scared of her. Lilith, who scarred him for life. He loathes her. Kikimora, though, he hardly has any feelings about at all. She's useful. That's it.
On the other hand there's Kikimora herself: she knows more about Philip than anyone else, and she prides herself on that. She thinks she's irreplaceable. She doesn't know why he keeps Lilith around, because she's incompetent. But she puts up with her. She hates her, too. She knows Philip hates her and so Kikimora hates Lilith, more than the rest. She's not scared of her in the slightest, because Lilith is Lilith and in Kiki's eyes, Lilith has no earned any of what she's gotten.
Then there's Lilith. She's... well, she's not doing too much. She has no idea the Emperor hates her. She knows Kikimora does, but Kikimora hates everyone, so it doesn't really bother her on a personal level. She thinks she was chosen to be the leader of the Emperor's Coven because of her talent. She thinks the Emperor's Coven appreciates her. She thinks the Emperor will heal her sister, will right the wrong that Lilith committed.
She has no idea.

too tired for long meta but luzan storyline so good so so so so so good. i know it's been a couple months now i'm just still thinking about it. like god. you tell this vehemently anti-colonialist story where the main villain is an emperor who's already committed cultural genocide & is plotting to commit full mass-murder genocide, then you have this protagonist who's intentionally written/drawn with parallels to him, but she LOVES the land and the culture and the people and she goes to BAT for the indigenous practices n environmental stewardship n the indigenous people who are being oppressed, and then the land ITSELF says "i've seen you make the choice to be kind over and over, even when it's hard, will you do what i can't and be my hands to end this man's reign" and she DOES and it's BECAUSE SHE HAS ALWAYS CHOSEN AND CARED ABOUT THE RIGHT THING N THE NARRATIVE REWARDS IT..... AAAAAAAAA

also not for nothing but it is mad fucked up that hunter had a coven sigil LOL like for all that belos kept making grimmwalkers to replace his brother, the fact that hunter was also branded makes me think that belos never had any intention of keeping him around even if hunter had miraculously stayed loyal… because he had a sigil, he was always going to die with everyone else on the day of unity (unless belos took him with to the human realm, but i don’t know that a. that would have cut him off from the draining spell, and b. that bringing him along was the ever the plan)

Before I watched toh when I saw ppl drawing emperor belos online I thought it was an older woman and I was hype to watch the show from the art of this woman and hunter. Then I start watching the show and the cast members are like “he.” And I’m like.
