hc + language(s)! / headcanon meme

ah, bucky speaks quite a few we know, whether it’s through his family, schooling, time in hydra as the winter soldier. the most fluent, i’d say, would be english, russian, romanian. the least, between french and xhosa / wakandan. he can understand french and xhosa pretty well, though he might take a second to respond as he’s trying to translate from the language to english to the language again. having learnt so many languages, it’s also fairly easy for him to pick up basics of other languages ... give him some time and he’ll probably be able to keep up with typical / casual conversations. also fluent in asl! it takes him a moment to switch over, from speaking and signing to just signing in most situations.

his tone of voice also changes with different languages! tone, inflections, emotions, just overall how he speaks is different between say english and romanian. his default is english, though if your muse prefers something else in a language he knows, he’ll just switch over to that. in heated arguments, there have been times where he goes back to english. a noted brooklyn accent. / @fullofmemories

—               }{  god forbid she ever get a break from this.  she’d been in a rush for gods’ sake!  such a rush that as she’s running along, she doesn’t notice her teleporter glitching until she’s tumbling headfirst through the portal.  she comes out the other side, a mess of limbs and barely manages to get her hands out in front of her before her head can hit ground.  when she sits up, the place is  ...  unrecognisable.  a forest?  what the heck?  and she’s not alone.

Alright so this wasn’t entirely going as planned. Too much noise was happening and yet it wasn’t entirely in his control. He thought he was being quiet, but then again he didn’t think he was also being followed that would put him in this situation. Offering to walk someone home because he didn’t trust the dark or the fact that he was unsure if he was being watched at the bar had caused this. Now he had accidentally dragged into his his business. Which only made her reaction to him pulling out a gun so casually as the door creaked open all fair. He couldn’t argue with it. But the last thing he was going to let happen was her getting caught in the crossfire. “Listen, we don’t have any other option so you are just going to have to follow my lead. Alright?” He half whispered as his head snapped back in her direction. “I didn’t want to get you involved, tried not to actually.”
