I'm focusing more on Maximum Legato, since we only catch a glimpse of him in Stampede and don't really get the full story of him in 98, and let's be frank: if you're a fan of Legato it's probably because you read Maximum. Probably.

Legato Bluesummers x Reader: Raising a Kid Together

Content Warnings: General allusions to Legato's past. If you've read the manga, you know what I'm talking about--but nothing in-depth, more there as an explanation of his overall feelings. Also, implies some sort of "good ending" where people survive. I just like things to be happy...

Let's get one thing crystal clear: Legato isn't super open to the idea of kids--at first. Much like MediocreAnomaly's "baby fever" headcanon list, Legato's had a hard enough time as it is, and didn't get a childhood himself. Trying to raise a kid when you have no idea how it's supposed to be like? No way. No how.

But if it's you... Well, maybe for you, he could change? I mean, if you've gotten far enough in a relationship that you could even bring up the concept of children... I think he could at least hear you out.

Regardless of how a child for the two of you comes into the world, it's going to be a bit rocky at first.

If it's a natural-born child, he'd definitely be fretting over you over the whole course of it... Reading every book he can to possibly prepare for the day and making sure you're always well cared for.

If you're instead planning for adoption, he's still reading up on everything he needs to know for the age range of the child. Double- and triple-checking paperwork and documents.

Speaking of reading up--you'd probably catch him at least once or twice falling asleep in a chair while trying to read through a book on childcare. Cover him up with a blanket, put the book on the side table, plant a little kiss on his head and assure him that he's going to be a great dad.

He's a worrier at his core, but he tries not to let this weakness show, especially around you, his partner. He's afraid that his worrying will make you worry, because if someone as intimidating and cold as Legato Bluesummers can get worried, then there's no telling what it'd do to you!

With a newborn child, he's afraid to even hold them at first. It takes a lot of convincing. But once you do break through that fear of his, he's completely taken by this little life that's now in your hands to take care of. A little glimmer of hope, that even though he didn't have the best start, this child can. He can be the change he wants to see.

A similar situation would happen with an adopted child, where depending on the age, he'd be a little cagey about spending time with them and taking care of them--he'll be watching you for guidance, seeing the way you take care of your child, mentally writing it down.

Once he gets into the swing of things, he's being the best parent he can possibly be. Not only supporting you as his partner, but also supporting your child and all three of you as a collective family unit. He'd lay down his life for you, and now that same sentiment has been spread to your child.

Though it's taken a long time for the world around you to become (slightly) more peaceful, you both want your kid to be raised in a safe, loving, and peaceful environment, without having to worry about warfare or violence.

He's actually very good at house-chores. Like a little house husband (who would have guessed from his appearance?). It must be something with how the tasks are repetitive and orderly--this gets cleaned, that goes there, etc. etc.

Also cue many cute moments of your child growing and trying to put on Legato's boots or pauldrons. You both hope they'll never have to wear anything like that to intimidate enemies, and maybe just enjoy it for the style (and for reminding them of their dad Legato!).

Speaking of their dad Legato: he didn't feel right being called by a title like dad or father, so he prefers to introduce himself to the child as Legato. It sounds a little strange at first with you trying to encourage the child to say your title of mommy/daddy/insert a preferred title here (if they're at the age when they're just learning words) and Legato just goes with his name, but you might get some babble back like Leggie or Gago. You find this funny. Legato doesn't.

Hey, how about extended family? I think the Gung-Ho Guns would be itching to visit--well, some of them, at least. Elendira, for example, wants to dote on the new child like an auntie. Legato has a variable amount of patience for this, ranging from "leave" to "leave right now". It's up to you, ultimately, to decide who gets to come see the child and who doesn't.

Knives silently approves of the child from the shadows, but might still mutter something about weak little human babies can't even walk or protect themselves. It's up to you, ultimately, to decide how hard Legato slaps him for that.

It's late at night when you come into the living room and see something you'd never thought you'd see. It's Legato and your child, sitting together on one of the chairs, kid in his lap, book propped up in his hands--and they're both fast asleep, just like Legato had done before when he was fretting over all this.

The two are too cute--you can't help but smile as you bring a blanket out and tuck it over the two of them, putting the book on the side table and giving both your child and Legato a kiss.

He really did end up as a great dad.

End Notes: I really hope you enjoyed this! I don't normally write for Legato like this so this was really my first time. I honestly see Legato as a kid of my own, so this was sort of like writing for a grandchild lol. I think Legato could be a good dad, he's got all the potential in his heart when he has you by his side.

The Graham/Serizawa bug has taken hold of me, and I've taken it upon myself to increase the amount of content for them. I took inspiration from the Cozy and Content OTP prompt from @novelbear, and came up with this little ditty.

As a backstory, the two are in Monarch's command post in Alaska, and I headcanon Vivienne as being someone who gets cold very easily. Characterization was hard to nail down, but I'd like to think that Graham and Serizawa are more open in private to each other. Either way, enjoy!

“We should get up.”

“We should… but we won’t.”

Ishiro warmly chuckled at Vivienne’s muffled retort and looked down at the bundle of blankets cuddled up against him. All he could see was a pair of big, light brown eyes innocently looking up at him, and as those eyes slowly and sleepily blinked, he found it hard to bite back a smile as he reached over to brush his thumb over her warm cheekbone.

“Aren’t you worried about getting too hot?” he asked. “We were asleep for over an hour and a half.”

“I’m fine,” the younger woman stubbornly insisted. “It’s -24 degrees outside, and I’m trying to conserve body heat so I don’t freeze.”

The older man shook his head in bemusement as he peeled off the layers of blankets to reveal a pouting Vivienne Graham. Her hair was such a mess that he couldn’t help but openly laugh at the sight, causing her pout to deepen.

“What’s so funny?” she demanded as she was pulled on top of the older man, her hair falling over her face as she unsuccessfully tried bending down and burying her head in his neck.

Ishiro merely smiled as he combed his partner’s hair back, brushing it behind her ears. Her bottom lip was slightly jutted out as she played with the hem of his t-shirt, insistent on not making eye contact with him. It was rather endearing, so much so that he couldn’t resist having a bit of fun with it.

“You do know that the outpost is insulated, yes?” he asked, rubbing up and down Vivienne’s legs in an effort to placate her. “I know you get cold easily, but don't you think six blankets is too much?”

She shrugged, grabbing one of his hands and playing with his fingers in a bid to dodge his question, her cheeks flushed from both embarrassment and being cocooned in her nest for so long.

“I suppose so,” she reluctantly admitted, interlinking her fingers with his. “But I was warm. I hadn’t slept that well in ages.”

She did have a point. The two had been working nonstop in decoding some abnormal energy signatures detected in Bikini Atoll, and that coupled with the jetlag from their flight from the Philippines had left them completely exhausted. Vivienne in particular was practically asleep at her desk when they wrapped up for the day earlier, and she hadn’t even stirred when he carried her to bed. Part of him was concerned that she was starting to fall ill, but he supposed they could cross that bridge when they got there.

Right now, all he could do was feel himself melt a little at the sight of his former protege nuzzling into his hand. She still looked quite tired - if not content - and if Ishiro had to be truthful, he himself could have used some more sleep as well. They weren’t going to be needed for the rest of the day, and though he took great pride and passion in his work, the break was admittedly a relief.

Perhaps one more hour wouldn't hurt.

“Come here,” he fondly murmured as he gently pulled Vivienne to where she was laying down on top of him. Almost immediately, she burrowed herself against his chest, curling her fingers into his shirt as her eyes fluttered shut. Pressing a kiss to the top of her head, he whispered into her hair, “I suppose we can sleep in if you need it.”

“How was your day?” Ran’s voice is a lot softer around you as opposed to his strong voice he uses when commanding his underlings.

“It was good,” You reply, melting into his touch. You explain everything you did and he attentively listens, even joking around or adding in a comment about it.

— He’ll spend a good ten to half an hour sitting with you like this as you two talk about your day before the both of you actually get comfortable in bed.

— When Ran goes to bed, he usually wears comfortable attire. It’s always an oversized sweatshirt or a t-shirt. He convinced you to wear his clothes as well to bed because he finds it cute. Other days where he isn’t feeling it, he’ll usually go shirtless.

— Ran usually just naturally is the big spoon. The usual position is with one of his hands on the back of your head and the other wrapped around your waist.

— Even when the lights are off though, Ran actually still continues to talk a lot. He’s quite talkative and will have a one-sided conversation as you listen to him, not worrying about you responding. It could be about the most random things. He can start off talking about the smallest thing and talk about it for a good ten minutes and somehow have it lead up to something completely off topic.

“I’m kind of hungry,” Ran suddenly brings up. “Ah, but I don’t feel like getting up. What should we eat tomorrow? Should we bring Rindou? Rindou doesn’t like going out with us though. Oh, let me tell you how he handled this fight he got in the other day.”

— Usually, you both will fall asleep at the same time where you are tired of hearing him talking and Ran is tired of talking.

— Ran is quite a heavy sleeper. He doesn’t move too often when he’s holding you, but if he somehow lets go of you mid-sleep, he’ll toss and turn a bit.

— He doesn’t talk or snore in his sleep, but he does have light panting and breathing.

— If he ever wakes up in the middle of the night, he’ll spend time admiring you and peppering your face with small kisses before dozing off again and holding you close to him.

#RINDOU HAITANI:

— Rindou’s a bit of a night owl. Him and his brother are always planning to do things late at night, especially in the famous area of Roppongi where it’s known for it’s night-life.

— But Rindou actually doesn’t often go out. He enjoys spending his nights with you even if it’s doing nothing.

— Before bed, he’s usually either watching you get ready for the night or occupying himself by playing a game or reading a manga as he waits for you.

— If he’s watching you get ready, he’ll sit beside you and watch you do your skincare. The more he stares, the more you tease him and make him join you.

— Rindou acts stern, but he likes the attention you give him as you’re tying up the front portion of his hair and pampering him with care.

— During these times before bed, it’s usually Rindou complaining about whatever annoyed him that day. You patiently listen to him before trying to calm him down, saying that the day is over. He appreciates you dealing with him during this.

“I can’t believe big bro kept complaining about the house being messy but it was all of his mess,” Rindou nagged. “Didn��t even help me clean.”

“At least you can go to bed with a clean home now,” You sat up, sitting beside him on the bed. “That’s nice, isn’t it?”

Rindou sighed, sinking into the bed and his arms naturally making their way to your waist, “Yeah, I guess.”

— Rindou sleeps shirtless usually. He doesn’t like the feeling of fabric bunching up. But he also enjoys seeing you flustered face as you admire him. He finds it cute that you trace over his tattoos while you both are laying down.

“How long did it take?” You ask him as you’re tracing over the edges of his tattoo.

“Took a few sessions,” Rindou explains. “Like three days? Six hours a day?”

— Doesn’t often fall asleep too early and takes a while to sleep. He’ll probably talk to you a bit before dozing off or if you fall asleep before him he’ll silently watch you.

— Likes to sleep on your chest with both his arms warmed up beneath the contact with your back. He’ll slide his hands under your shirt and just listen to your heartbeat.

— Sometimes talks in his sleeps but they’re always small phrases that never make sense.

#SHUJI HANMA:

— Before bed, Hanma’s probably trying his best to stall to not go to bed. If he has the time, he doesn’t wanna spend it doing nothing.

“Let’s go to the convenience store,” Hanma groaned, laying his body and letting his legs hang off your bed.

“Did you need something?” You curiously asked, cleaning up your desk before bed.

Hanma shook his head, “Nah. I’m just not tired yet.”

— He won’t force you to go out if you don’t want to. He’d be a little bummed out, but Hanma wouldn’t leave you. He’d stay with you and eventually find something to do.

— Somedays where you are down though, Hanma will take you out on a bike ride to wind down and relax as you’re riding behind him. He likes to drive his bikes pretty fast, but when you’re with him, he’ll slow down a bit so he can hear you talk about how your day went.

— Hanma’s hair is all messy by the end of the day. He usually wears it down and tries his best to make sure all the gel is washed out if he spends the night with you. He likes it when you run your fingers through his hair, but also he can’t stand you making fun of him for his crunchy gel-ed hair.

— Sleeps in his usual casual, comfy attire to bed. Hanma also likes it when you wear his clothes to sleep and having your scent attach itself into his clothes.

— When Hanma holds you, he really holds you. He traps you tightly as you’re snug in between him as his leg holds you in and his arms are hugging you. Make sure you use the bathroom before bed, because there’s no way of escaping him until the morning.

— Talks a lot before bed, like SO MUCH. Doesn’t shut up. Sometimes he literally will get out of bed to act out what he’s trying to talk about. You tell him he doesn’t need to, but he says it’ll be easier to visualize.

“Wait, let me show you what I did,” Hanma gets up, letting you go and shuffling out of bed to stand. He balls up his fists and starts hitting the air. “Baby, look. All I did was throw one hit and like two of his teeth came out.”

— Honestly, despite how much energy he has, he falls asleep super easy. He can sleep anywhere. If he shuts his eyes for a few minutes and doesn’t talk, he’ll automatically fall asleep.

— Hanma is a snorer. He snores so much.

#HARUCHIYO SANZU:

— Before bed, Sanzu is most likely getting ready to ensure that you’re going to bed peacefully. He’s someone who shows his affection through actions so he’s willing to do anything like bring you tea or run you a bath.

— He’s more of a listener than anything. So Sanzu will listen to how your day went, if you were stressed out that day, he’ll listen to you rant. If you don’t have much to say, he still appreciates the silence.

— Sanzu is so focused on making sure that others around him are content, so he’ll get a little taken aback to find you wanting to care for him.

Your back is faced forward as Sanzu cares for you whether it’s fixing up your hair or massaging your shoulders. You suddenly turn back and look up at him.

“Did I do something?” Sanzu asks with a stoic face.

You shook your head, standing up and telling him to sit, “I’d like to comb through your hair.”

Sanzu stands and stared at you for a second. He isn’t sure how to react, but he follows your orders anyway. As you’re sectioning off his hair and combing through it, he is left with nothing to do but to stare down at the floor and listen to your soft humming.

He finds it a little comforting. All his life he has felt the need to take care of others, not even remembering what it was like to be taken care of until he met you.

You feel his head slightly jerk and bolt up suddenly midway through combing. A small chuckle escaped your lips, “Haru? Did you fall asleep?”

You tried to face him, but he kept turning his head away to hide his embarrassment, “Shut up. Let’s go to bed.”

— Sanzu prefers to wear oversized long sleeves to bed. He thinks that holding you like this will keep you warm as you sleep.

— Likes to have you sleep on his chest while his arms are over you; enjoys the feeling of him protecting you.

— Doesn’t talk while you two are falling asleep. He prefers to just shower you in attention and affection since it’s the one time you two are alone and close together. It’s an intimate situation to him. He’ll trace his fingers over your back or massage your hands

#IZANA KUROKAWA:

— For Izana, he actually has a bit of a hard time falling asleep. At night, it’s when he’s alone and it’s easy for his mind to drift off and overthink on situations especially from the past.

— The first night he spent with you though, he was a bit nervous that he’d bother you too much. But to his surprise, he slept well.

— He won’t admit to it, but Izana is very grateful to have someone like you. Before bed, Izana usually also keeps his phrases short and keeps his talking for when you both are comfortable in bed.

— He sleeps in a tank top. Prefers to rely on getting warmth from you.

— Izana’s favorite position to sleep in is where one arm is beneath your neck as you snuggle into him with your arms wrapped around him and the other with his hand tucked under his head.

— He likes to have easy access to stare at you here and there, but when he talks, his mind drifts. It makes him a little embarrassed to be so vulnerable, so staring at the ceiling makes it easier to talk about certain things with you.

— Sometime’s he’ll tell you stories of his favorite childhood story, Journey to the West. Or sometimes he’ll tell you his dreams and a visions he has for Tenjiku.

“Where did you hear about the story?” You curiously ask him. “The one you always talk about.”

Izana looks down at you, softening his expression. He doesn’t want to ruin this moment with a sob story, so he kept it vague, “I just read it a lot when I was younger. But I didn’t really get into it until … I got put in that place. That was when I read it every single day and I guess it just stuck with me.”

“I’m glad you had something you really enjoyed growing up,” You smiled up at him, a smile that he immediately turns soft to.

“I have something even better now,” Izana grins back, pulling your chin up for a kiss.

— And some other days where he feels more vulnerable he’ll hold you closer and have you listen to his heartbeat, where he can’t show his face, and tell you everything about his life. How he felt betrayed, how much he admired Shinichiro, and his times at the foster home where he met Kakucho.

“I’m grateful to you,” Izana murmured, holding your head against his chest and his chin softly digging into your scalp. “I want you to know that.”

“I know,” You grin into his chest, he can’t see it, but he can feel your lips curling against him.
