Gagaga Sister
"When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 'Gagaga' Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. You can target 1 other 'Gagaga' monster you control; the Levels of that monster and this card become their combined current Levels, until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of 'Gagaga Sister' once per turn."

Magical Mecha Mayhem Management Squad pt 2
🌱YAM 11 (01/11/2024)
The only other person in the office was Garu’s much younger sister, Shisuta, and the trio ran down eight flights of stairs before hitting the ground and sprinting. Shisuta was huffing and puffing by the time they reached the southside, but the other two had no time to feel sorry… [read the story on AO3!]

I was pulling cards in Link Evolution and got one called Gagaga Cowboy and uhhhh....
Tumblr media
HMMMM.... WHO DOES HE LOOK LIKE TO YOU?????
LIKE SERIOUSLY, YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE HIM A COWBOY WITH DARK SPIKED BACK HAIR, PART OF HIS FACE COVERED, AND AN ORANGE BANDANA AROUND HIS NECK AND NOT SAY IT'S OUR OL' BELOVED JIMMY BOY!!!!!
And it might just be me looking for more signs, but the red markings under his eyes feel reminiscent of the scar over Jim's right eye to me. Plus the big belt on his waist reminds me of Jim's belt too.

Kinou no Haru de, Kimi wo Matsu
Tumblr media
Author: Mei Hachimoku (Author of Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi)
Illustrator: Kukka
Label: Gagaga Bunko
Release Date: 17 April 2020
Art Notes: While Kukka’s art is nice, I do think that it’s worth a mention that Akari (the girl on the cover) is described in the novel as having darker skin - Kanae describes it as being the colour of wheat while Akari describes it as the colour of soil but, either way, this is not reflected in the illustrations, where she looks as pale as the rest of the characters.
Note: I’ve seen a few people saying that this is related to Natsu and it isn’t. Aside from some themes, story elements, genres and seasonal motif, the two works are completely unconnected.
Natsu e no Tunnel was one of my favourite reads of 2019 so I was excited when I heard that a new book from Hachimoku was coming out. Unfortunately, I don’t think that Haru was quite as compelling a read as Natsu, though it was still quite interesting. It was so dark that it made it hard to read at times and I had trouble with the characters’ motivations but I thought that the time travel mechanics were cleverly done and I was interested in finding out what had happened during the days that Kanae had skipped. Recommended if you like drama stories with a lot of angst.
Story:
Genre: Drama, Time travel, M/F Romance, Angst
After getting into a fight with his dad, Kanae visits his hometown for the first time in two years. Soon after arriving, he gets into a fight with his younger sister and runs out of the house. He meets Akari, his childhood friend and first love and, after they part ways, he goes to a shrine and, after hearing the 6pm chime, he finds himself in clothes that he doesn’t remember changing into, in a place that he doesn’t remember going to and talking to someone he doesn’t remember starting a conversation with. Things get even weirder when he finds out that it is now 4 days later and that, a few nights ago, Akari’s older brother, Akito, died from alcohol poisoning. He soon realises that he is experiencing time in reverse. While he’s not sure how this happened, he knows one thing: he may be able to use this as a chance to prevent Akito’s death.
Content Warnings: All the content warnings. Depictions of bullying, death resulting from alcohol poisoning, physical abuse at the hands of a family member, suicidal thoughts and a dead body is described, though it’s not an overly detailed description.
The time travel rules are complicated enough that they deserve their own paragraph to describe them. Essentially, after the initial time leap from the first of April to the fifth of April, Kanae experiences time 24 hours at a time. So, he started at 1/4 6pm then leaped to 5/4 6pm, experienced time normally until 6/4 6pm before leaping back to 4/4 6pm experienced time normally until 5/4 6pm when he leaped back to 3/4 6pm and so on.
The way that Kanae finds this out is one of the weakest parts of the book. Akari explains it to him, because he had told her some time between 1/4 6pm and 5/4 6pm. It would have been far more fun to see him figure this out for himself or talk about it with Akari and have them figure it out together. I also had issues with how a lot of Kanae’s actions are motivated by his already knowing what he’s going to do so it’s hard to tell how many things he does because he genuinely wants to or because he knows that he is going to. And, yeah, this was a really dark novel and was so hard to read at times. I don’t think it needed to be as cruel as it was. I didn’t think that the ending was very good either and I would have liked Akari’s development to go in a different direction.
As for what I did like about the novel, I thought that the time travel rules were well done and I was interested in slowly finding out what happened during the days that Kanae skipped. The last quarter of the book, while hard to read, was gripping and emotionally involving and that’s really what you want from a book like this.
Character:
Kanae is a fine protagonist but he’s not particularly interesting. Akari suffers a bit from the fact that a lot of her actions are motivated by her desire to reunite with Kanae but, as you learn more about her, it becomes more understandable why she clung to this childhood crush and has based her future off it so she ends up being quite interesting and you do want her to be happy but I did want her character development to go in a different direction. The side characters are all memorable enough.
Recommended for:
If you like angst and drama, this is the light novel for you.
While I may not have enjoyed Haru as much as I had wanted to, I did still enjoy it enough that I will likely be reading whatever Hachimoku comes up with next.

Ouji Suzuka & Marie Iitoyo Voice The Leads in The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes Anime Film
The official website for the forthcoming anime film adaptation of Mei Hachimoku's The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes sci-fi novel has announced its two leading voice cast members.
22-year-old actor/fashion model Ouji Suzuka (Izumi Miyamura in the Horomiya live-action drama series) voices Kaoru Tono, who lost his beloved sister in the past. This is the first time Suzuka has served as an anime voice actor. "I had the opportunity to read the original novel and was immersed in the story created by Hachimoku-sensei, and I wanted to stay immersed in it. I read the book in the fall, so I missed summer," Suzuka said. "I was able to enjoy with the support of the director, the staff and Iitoyo-san during the two days of voice recording session."

Meanwhile, 24-year-old actress Marie Iitoyo (Ai Shindo in City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes) is cast as Anzu Hanaki, a transfer girl with a certain problem. "The nostalgic worldview makes us feel every place and tunnel where they exist very nostalgic and mysterious. What kind of ending awaits the two as they join hands to achieve 'what they really wanted.' Above all, the scenery surrounding them is so beautiful that we hope you will feel as if you were lost in the world where the Urashima Tunnel exists at the movie theater."

The film is set to be released in Japan in the summer of 2022. Tomohisa Taguchi (Akudama Drive, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna) serves as the director at CLAP (Pompo: The Cinéphile), alongside chief animation director Tomomi Yabuki (Pompo: The Cinéphile animation director).
The novel won both the Gagaga Award and the Judges' Special Prize at the 13th Shogakukan Light Novel Awards in 2019, then published from Shogakukan's light novel imprint Gagaga Bunko in July of the year. Its English edition is scheduled to be published from Seven Seas Entertainment's light novel imprint Airship on May 10, 2022. The publisher's official webpage for the novel describes its synopsis as below:
Tono Kaoru heard a rumor: The laws of space and time mean nothing to the Urashima Tunnel. If you find it, walk through and you’ll find your heart’s desire on the other side…in exchange for years of your own life. On the night Kaoru just so happens to find himself standing in front of a tunnel that looks suspiciously like the one the rumor describes, he finds himself thinking of Karen, the sister he lost in an accident five years ago. To Kaoru’s surprise, he’s been followed by the new transfer student Anzu Hanaki, who promises to help him experiment with the mysterious tunnel–but what does she want from Kaoru in exchange? And what will he have left to give, after the tunnel’s done with him?

Did you’d ship anyone in ZEXAL especially since some of your favorite characters are there? And what makes Arc V and its character design so hot or attractive?
Guess... AstralYuuma and maybe AitoKotori and well Gagaga Girl with Gagaga Magician
As for Arc V designs... well, can’t say that they are hot except for Tyler sisters, but pretty-yes! They are colorful and different. Even when it comes to Yuu4 and Yuzu’s counterparts. Also clothes design is very good in this series, every character wears something of their ownTho there is two characters whos design I don’t like, not clearly sure why (maybe it’s their hair or clothes): Zarc and Ray. Well, Zarc is kinda good... but Ray... I was dissapointed with her honestly.. I think I find her colors too plain? monotone? prolly ‘cause of her outfit. But it’s just my opinion.

Gagaga Girl ———————————————— You can target 1 "Gagaga Magician" you control; this card's Level becomes the Level of that monster. An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using only this card and other "Gagaga" monsters as Xyz Material gains this effect. ● When it is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes 0. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Order of Chaos (ORCS-EN003), Abyss Rising: Special Edition (ABYR-ENSE1), Super Starter: V for Victory (YS13-EN010)
"Gagaga Magician" was the one of the first monsters to introduce Xyz Summons to the card game, as thanks to his ability to change Levels allowed players to mold their setups for the right summons. As one of the main monsters of the Zexal series soon enough "Gagaga Magician" gained his own archetype, providing further options to work arround their moldable materials for all kinds of Xyz Monsters we can fit in our Extra Deck. In addition of some basic tools to summon their members and control the board, Gagaga can dominate Duels along with a diverse Extra Deck allowing them to bring the best monster for the right situations.
"Gagaga Girl" was one of the first additions to the Gagaga archetype, and like the classic "Dark Magician Girl" quickly gained popularity among fans of the series. She also shares some similarities to the famous Spellcaster when comes to working with her male counterpart, as "Gagaga Girl" is able to replicate the Level of a "Gagaga Magician" in our field. This is clearly to immediately gain two materials with matching Levels for a Xyz Summon, but to make things even better "Gagaga Girl" provides a bonus effect when used for said purpose. Once we bring a Xyz Monster using her as one of the materials, in return we will make a Special Summoned opponent monster lose its ATK. With the prevalence of Special Summons nowadays this is an easily avialable available under many situations, and combined with the Xyz Monster we will bring with both Gagagas and/or other materials "Gagaga Girl" can create powerful openings to take advantage of.
It might be tricky to bring "Gagaga Girl" at the same time as "Gagaga Magician" to be able to match their Levels, but fortunately we have several options to increase the chances to do so or atleast bring her along other potential materials for the Xyz Summon. The primary choice will mostly come from "Gagaga Academy Emergency Network", summoning either "Gagaga Girl" or "Gagaga Magician" from the Deck if our field is empty to follow with the summon of the second required Gagaga. Gagaga shares some options along other archetypes such as Gogogo and Zubaba, with cards like "Onomatopaira" and "Onomatopia" gathering their mebers from the Deck "Guard Go!" summoning them from our hand in response of a destructive source. If "Gagaga Girl" is already in our hand, "Gagagawind" as well Pendulum Summon can bring her along other Gagagas including "Magician" without having to wait for the best opportunity in later turns. Since most Gagagas are Spellcasters they obtain further support from their Type, like "Dark Renewal" and "Magician's Circle" responding opponent actions with her summon and "Magician Navigation" allowing them to work along "Dark Magician". Finally, "Gagagarevenge" will revive either "Gagaga Girl" or "Gagaga Magician" from the Graveyard to work together once again in later turns with the additional effect to boosting the ATK of our Xyz Monsters when used as material, while "Gagaga Head" is able to bring back both monsters together or even two copies of "Gagaga Girl" to stack their Xyz Summon effects against several monsters.
With the ability of "Gagaga Magician" to change his Level to 1 through 8 is obvious that we want "Gagaga Girl" to always work with him, but that doesn't mean that she can't stand out on her own as well with other possible materials. Other Gagaga monsters like "Gagaga Sister" and "Gagaga Caesar" are able to manipulate their Levels as well of other members, while "Gagaga Child" will replicate the Level of "Girl" and/or "Magician" as is Special Summoned by his own effect. Not only that, but "Crane Crane" can bring her from the Graveyard to work together for a Rank 3 Xyz Summon if needed. "Gagaga Girl" also has some additional options beyond working as material, like using "Gagagabolt" to take down any threats on the field or become a cost to draw cards thanks to "Gagagadraw". But regardless of "Gagaga Girl" working along "Magician" or other materials we will still obtain the ability to turn the ATK of a Special Summoned enemy to zero, not only giving us a clean hit against the opponent as well taking down even the strongest enemies, but also the possibility to deal lethal damage if we brought a Xyz Monster such as "Kachi Kochi Dragon" with its multiple attacks. Don't forget that although "Gagaga Magician" cannot work arround Synchro Summons "Girl" is able to, so if we need to we can use her changed Level along the proper Tuner as well materials such as "Level Eater" taking advantage of their abilities.
At first, "Gagaga Girl" might seem a very limited monster due her full potential comes by working along "Gagaga Magician". But with many other materials inside and outside the Gagaga archetype, as well the big pool of options increasing the chances to arrive together with "Gagaga Magician", "Gagaga Girl" is more about using her effect as material to weaken enemies no matter which Xyz Monster we end with on the field. With also a good chance to achieve OTK results with cards like "Kachi Kochi Dragon" and "Level Eater", "Gagaga Girl" might be completely reduced to a role as material and to pay costs like "Gagagadraw". But even despite her full potential being dependant of a particular monster "Gagaga Girl" has all the options and possibilities to acheive powerful results no matter what monsters is working along with.
Personal Rating: A
+ Copies the Level of a "Gagaga Magician" on our field + If used in a Xyz Summon will take away the ATK of a Special Summoned enemy + Highly supported to work along "Gagaga Magician" and other materials
- Completely reduced to a role as material and to pay certain costs - Dependant of "Gagaga Magician" and other cards to stay efficient

Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi Review
Tumblr media
Author: Mei Hachimoku
Illustrator: Kukka
Label: Gagaga Bunko
Release Date: 18 July 2019
This was a really good and emtionally-charged one-shot. It was really interesting and I enjoyed seeing the twists that the story took and the two leads’ character development. It had some heavy themes but the smooth and gentle writing style helped to prevent the story from feeling to dark. I ended up liking it a lot and I’d recommended it to anyone who wants to read something emotionally-driven.
Story:
Trigger warnings: this work contains depictions of grief about the death of a loved one and survivor’s guilt. One of the main themes of the story is coping with grief and it does it pretty well but I am not expert so take that with a grain of salt. It also has an alcoholic and abusive father character and it doesn’t really get addressed as a major plot or character point and is kind of forgotten by the end of it. Also, bullying and a bit of violence. The violence is only really in one of the chapters and the bullying situation gets resolved about half-way through the novel.
Genre: Drama, Coming-of-age, Sci-fi, Mystery
The Urashima Tunnel is an urban legend. Or, at least, it’s supposed to be. No one knows where it is but, if you find it, you can ask it for anything. However, time passes differently inside the tunnel and, when you exit, you will have aged. Kaoru is a teenage boy who has a hard life. His high school days are spent hanging out with his only friend and running errands for the Queen Bee of the class. He lives with his father who has become an alcoholic since the death of Kaoru’s younger sister, 5 years ago. His mother abandoned them not long after the incident. Yet, he never complains or gets angry. When he comes across the Urashima Tunnel, he knows immediately what his wish is: for his sister to come back to life.
First off, this was a really well-written novel. The writing style and pacing were so smooth to read that it was easy to lose track of time when I was reading it. If I had one complaint it is that some plot points didn’t really get addressed like I was hoping them to, like Kaoru’s parents. Otherwise, it was a really good and interesting read with a lot of intense twists about the nature of the tunnel and I really liked seeing Kaoru’s character development. The ending was satisfying, if a tad bittersweet, and I ended up really liking this light novel.
Character:
The leads are Kaoru and Anzu, a quiet transfer student. Both characters are really interesting and get a lot of good character development. I liked them both a lot. Kaoru’s character development is centered around his grief of the death of his younger sister and his way of not showing much emotion when others say or do things that make him feel bad. He ends up feeling like a fully fleshed-out character and I really enjoyed seeing his character development. Anzu’s character development is something that I can’t say much about without spoilers but it’s good stuff and I liked it a lot.
Anzu also develops a friendship with one of the other female characters which was nice to see and Kaoru has his own best friend. It’s a nice way to make these two characters feel like they have lives seperate from one another and it makes them feel like full and complete characters as a result.
Recommended for:
If you want to read a coming-of-age story with a sci-fi twist, you should read this. If you also want to read something that’s emotionally-driven, you should definitely read this.
This is Mei Hachimoku’s debut novel and I’d happily read another novel from them again and I hope that they are given the opportunity to publish more books. Next up is Sekai no Owari no Encore 6

Mei Hachimoku's The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes Sci-fi Novel Gets Anime Film Adaptation in Summer 2022
Japanese publisher Shogakukan announced today that an anime feature film adaptation of Mei Hachimoku's The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes sci-fi novel is set to be released in Japan in the summer of 2022. Tomohisa Taguchi (Akudama Drive, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna) serves as the director at CLAP (Pompo: The Cinéphile) .
Message from the novel author Mei Hachimoku:
"The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes" is a story that was born from my single-mindedly tapping the keys, feeling frustrated by the passing of time. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that my heart-burning feelings at that time would lead to the production of the film like this. Director Taguchi and all the staff have been working passionately on this project. As a spectator, I am looking forward to the completion of the film.
