I still fire up my PS2 to play Ace Combat Zero.

Honestly it's my favorite game in the series 🤷‍♂️

Started playing Ace Combat Zero, the last PS2 Ace Combat I still hadn't played. And I noticed I might like Ace Combat a lot more than I had realized.

I started the first mission and I felt excited, gleeful, I was grinning, even shaking a little bit. I felt like I was child again and it was Christmas eve. I did not expect that getting to play the plane game again would fill me with such joy, but it did.

Ace Combat is good!

Headcanon: The Spirit of Ice’s Ace Pilots

When General Marasco supplied the Spirit of Ice for what he knew would be her last voyage as a Mantle ship, he spared no expense and held no favors back for crewing and readying her. As such, the best pilots in the Mantle Air Force at the time, men hardened by a decade of war in the air against Vacuo and Vale, found their way aboard to lead her dozens of fighter craft. 

A brief summery of each ace is below, compiled from their flight histories during the war;

Mobius 1: The Ribbon. A well-rounded pilot who commands Mobius Squadron, the Spirit’s general purpose flight group. Adept at most roles but excels at high-risk missions

Razgriz 1: Blaze. A stoic, somber man, head of the Razgriz Squadron, the Spirit’s “stealth” unit. Asymetrical combat, deep-penetration missions, and deniable actions are his game.

Galm 1: The Demon Lord. Also known as Cipher, he leads Galm Team, a two-man flight with more kills than many of the other members of the Spirit’s compliment combined, including dozens of enemy aces, and entire squadrons in some cases. 

Garuda 1: The Angel. Talisman, the protector. Leads Garuda Team, the angelic side to Galm’s demonic, providing aid, ground support, and civilian evacuation protection. 

Strider 1: Three Strikes. Trigger, the mad-dog. A former con given another chance at redemption by flying for the Air Force, he leads Strider Squadron, which handles the long range strategic strikes and assaults for the Spirit.

Appreciate the big naturals a lot, but whats galm1 mean?

WELL, YOU SEE Galm 1 is the callsign of Cipher, the playable character from the game Ace Combat Zero. My original planned url change, "DemonLordBigNaturals" is also a reference to this, as one of their nicknames they accrue throughout the game is "Demon Lord of the Round Table", but I felt like that might be too ambiguous to someone unfamiliar with the game (though still very funny)

Ciphixy WIP. Actually the first time I’ve drawn them properly, I asked my friends how to get Pixy accurate:

Headcanon that Ciphixy were on their wedding anniversary touring the Usean countryside when the Lighthouse War happened, and they just ignored it & went on. They happened to be at the locations of several missions that trigger was in, casually sightseeing as the fighting happened above their heads.

Also, I usually dislike the little detail that Pixy is Belkan because Come On, not all the bad guys need to be Belkans, but I will make an exception & tolerate it if only to headcanon that Pixy dresses like that guy making funny stereotypical German videos (going on “just a small walk” through the Waldreich mountains that lasted 10 hours is something Pixy has totally done)

Cipher on the other hand,,, life is a runway and the planes are just accessories
