Every now and then I remember I am significantly older than the legalization of gay marriage in my country and I take psychic damage every time. I am not that old, like my life has just begun.

Just... Remember our rights didn't just descend from the heavens hundred of years ago. It is still a fresh memory, a blip compared to the timeline of the world.

#politics #gay #lgbt #lgbtq #gay complacency is forgetting just how much fighting we and our forefamily had to do to even GET to that point #and it's forgetting just how recently it happened that we got tgese protections. and they unfortunately aren't set in stone #maybe that was harsh wording but Please... blood was shed for this cause. people died for us #people died for this cause #people threw themselves in front of the FDA to protest - literally die-ins #full disclosure that this is about the US - i am a USAmerican and won't be comfortable commenting on queer rights internationally #(internationally to me not that the US is the world)#i am fully aware that there are countries that have NO queer rights recognized or even entertained as a thought by the governments that be #and that's... tragic. there's genuinely no word strong enough for how heartbreaking and evil it is #and i do not have the ability to comment about it personally like it is my right to claim that pain
