Your first day of Junior Year - yippee - and you started it like any other:

Getting work done, which consisted of the same icebreaker papers like any other classroom, doodling random scribbles in your sketchbook till the clock hit next hour, and passing between hours by blasting sped up tiktok songs through your earbuds because fuck talking to people irl.

Don't get me wrong, you weren't an outcast or anything. Sure, you had interests the popular kids might not have been into (take your embarassing and reawakened FnaF phase last year-) but you were widely liked, if not, then not necessarily disliked, by most of the people in your classes.

This was kind of a given, as you've had school with a good handful of these kids in your previous years.

Take Kendra and her little crew, for example. Kendra, Jeremy and Jase had been found in almost every tech class you took as a kid. (Ez school credits you just worked off instruction books) And ignoring their incessant bickerings amoungst eachother, or the ocassional cocky and narcissisticly snide remarks they'd give you if you asked them for help - they actually quite liked you.

Liked you is a nice way of saying you were an easy target for spreading havoc that wouldn't be traced back to them.

Did you know this? No. But that wasn't your fault, you're just a little optimistic about their underlying evilness that they're surprisingly so good at hiding from faculty.

"Hey, ___!" she would coo at you, "our club is entering an app contest, and we need some people to test it out. Can't make any reviews ourselves since they'd call us out on bias, ya' know?"

- All this to say, you weren't at all suspicious when Kendra walked up to you [Jace in tow and Jeremy nowhere to be seen] with a pleasant smirk amoung her bright blue lips, and a cheery tone to boot.

"Basically what we need you to do is make an account, converse with the... other volunteers we asked, and in about a month or so let me know how it goes!" While talking, she meagerly scrolls through the app, showing you all the functions and controls.

Then, she sends the app's downloadable apk to your phone and explains that your help would be compensated.

You weren't interested until that last part, so you hurriedly downloaded it before the next period started and got to fuckin' work.

Now, when you typed "themaincharacter" as your username you weren't necessarily thinking anything cocky, you just thought you were being funny and a little cute. No one should give it a second thought, right? You'd be fine.

You needed a profile picture.

Fucking perfect.

And now you just had to look at the explo- oh what the fuck?

You had a handful of guesses as to who 'April' was. You knew about three April's personally from your school but none seem the type to talk to guys of this... energy. You made a note to be extra cautious tomorrow; already planning your inconspicuous oversized hoodie and baggy sweats to wear tomorrow.

You'll look like a major red flag or depressed college student buttttt at least you'll be harder to spot in a crowd!

You turned your phone off as you headed out the doors of the school. The battery was getting pretty low anyway. Your guess? Kendra totally gave your phone some virus to get dirt or probably destroy the group of guys you'd just become friends with.

You only had a few hours left before the day ended but it was most likely going to be filled with chores and applications to a part time job now that summer's over - so your schedule was pretty low on free time.

Not to mention now you have to wake up early for your second day of school. Early hours was not something you missed in July.

...All this to say, knowing the person you are, you couldn't risk hopping back in the group chat for the rest of the night. You'd hopped on your phone last year and it would take you till 4 AM before you actually went to bed only to wake up two hours later to get dressed for school.

Oh, you missed summer. Oh, you missed lonely, miserable and depressing summer so so bad.

I would love to plan a rainbow/light project for my show but I don't even know where to begin 😥 do you have any tips?

hi nonny!!! I’ve done this a couple of times and most importantly i recommend finding some people going to your show who are willing to help! we’re going to be making GCs for shows so you could try and find people through that!

i don’t know if you want to light the whole venue up (like at harry’s arena shows) or if you want to have as many people as possible waving around mini flags (imo the first would be easier if the venue is all seated and the second easier if its all GA, if its a mix then just take a pick). 

but basically for the first option you need to promo promo promo!!! make a diagram and spread it on here, on twitter, the facebook event, and then print out flyers you can stick up at the venue to make sure everyone sees it. even doing this (again this is my opinion) you’re best bet would probably be to print out coloured pieces of paper w/ instructions to hand out at the venue because people are inherently lazy and cbf downloading a coloured photo or finding their own piece of coloured paper

for the second option you’ll have to bulk buy a bunch of flags essentially which is obviously going to be more expensive so obviously if you can get a group willing to chip in some money that’ll be way less of a burden. there are some websites where you can bulk buy mini rainbow flags for like 10 cents per flag which is honestly a bargain BUT you then have to put them all together- you have to put the flag on the stick and then attach info about the project somehow (we stapled paper on when i did it for hslot 2017), and then you obviously have to hand them out at the show (for GA i recommend just going along the queue some time in the afternoon, for seated maybe go down the aisles and hand them out if you can?). this obviously ends up being a fair amount of time and money so it really is up to you- anything will be appreciated by everyone

okay so some backstory

you and jeffrey over here have known each other since he got back from america

everyone fawned over him when he got back

you were probably like,, the only one at school who got tired of his little “i lived in america, that’s why i’m here, man!!” joke

when he found out you were annoyed by him in general he was a bit confused

he’d never spoken to you before so he thought your disliking of him was a bit dumb

you found out because his friends have loud mouths

which only fueled your hatred oops

because you thought he was calling you dumb behind your back

anyway after you guys graduated

you didn’t see each other much

that is

until you became a makeup artist for sm

the gods were against you because you were assigned to nct

you couldn’t do anything about it tho because it was a good job and you’d rather not get fired

besides, you could tolerate the other boys (for the most part)

this little hatred is a bit one sided

he just likes to mess with you but he doesn’t hate you

like he’d take a lipbalm thing from your bag without you noticing

so after that he’d kind of just lay low

which you were half grateful for but at the same time it was weird not glaring daggers at him practically every day

now that he wasn’t playing around with you, you kind of realized how much of an angel he was

bUt you were too prideful to step down 

so you kept your distance

which the boys noticed like right away

anyway now that you weren’t glaring at him 24/7 or making any snarky remarks

but with the boys and with the other staff members

you joke around a lot

and smile easily

he found himself wanting to see you do that in front of him

after like a month of admiring you from afar it kind of just hit him like

he wouldn’t be that surprised with himself considering the fact he had started to search for you in a room whenever he entered

and the fact that seeing you made him feel all tingly

he texted johnny about it and ranted for like an hour talking about the pros and cons of confessing

he also fawned over you a bit

however

he made a grave mistake

he accidentally texted yuta and not johnny

all of the members, including the ones who hadn’t debuted yet + jaemin, knew of his crush within the hour

half of them would just dismiss it and go one with their lives

the other half were devious and made a plan

a majority of that other half were the dreamies tbh

they got updates on your interactions with jaehyun from donghyuck

so basically, the dreamies except for the hyung line + yuta came together to make a plan (with doyoung subtly giving ideas smh what a snake)

in hindsight they realized the plan was dumb but hEy it worked

so basically

the boys hid your really expensive makeup palette (i know nothing about makeup sorry)

right before the boys (including the dreamies) had to go on a broadcast

smart idea guys, very smart

so basically you got really worried

because you and the other makeup artists shared that palette because it was gigantic

when it got to the point where the other artists were getting impatient

you were the youngest out of all of them yet you were trusted with the most expensive thing lol

jaehyun saw you freaking out and went over

he didn’t even think about it like the moment he saw your eyes glaze over he kinda sprinted to you

took you out of the room, away from the crowd of people, and into a spare room

you were still freaking out and now you were just “jaeHYUN LEMME GO I NEED TO GO FIND IT–”

he’d literally just hug you and rub your back

he wouldn’t say anything

you’d calm down a bit but you were still worried

jaehyun noticed and frowned

“can i hold your hand?” 

you’d kind of just pull away and give jaehyun a weird look

so he just took your hand and interlaced his fingers, sending you a gentle smile

your heart would actually be pounding

you were confused

why was he acting like this? you didn’t know

so once you calmed down immediately he’d take you back into the room and help you search for it because it’s easier to find things with a calm mind (is it? idk)

and yet

there it was– in jisung’s arms

you couldn’t even be mad because he looked so sorry about it

so basically you and the other artists were rushing to get the boys makeup done but it’s alright cause they’re going to look great no matter what you do

you went home that night with jaehyun on your mind

like you were conflicted

so you texted jaehyun for answers

your texts were really formal because even tho you had his number you never really texted him before

like proper punctuation, grammar, everything

What are the Differences Between Prolotherapy, Stem Cell Therapy, and PRP?

Metaphors are a great way to help make sense of many ideas. In the spirit of metaphorical explanations, we at Meier Orthopedic Sports Medicine (MOSM) in Beverly Hills tried to sum up the differences among some of the pillars of regenerative medicine – stem cell therapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and prolotherapy.

First, we tried the Beverly Hills garden metaphor, which fit nicely for PRP, but was a stretch for stem cell therapy and prolotherapy. We also considered the general contractor approach, which, we discovered, had already been used but still had some room for improvement. So, although these pillars of regenerative medicine are so fascinating, describing them warrants a head on approach, we are going to try and give our own spin to the general contractor metaphor and broaden the scope to that of a home.

Stem Cell Therapy – The General Contractors

Stem cell therapy can be likened to sending in a team of general contractors (GC) to get the job done. Each GC has the blueprints with the information they need to get each segment of the repair job done, and each GC can redirect crew already working in nearby areas of the house to come and learn specific tasks and fix the buckled wall. The GC will pass on the blueprints to crew (nearby cells), giving them the required information to complete each job.

Stem cells use paracrine signaling to achieve this form of communication. Stem cells secrete chemical factors that are like the blueprints or instructions required to do a job. Nearby cells have surface receptors that receive the necessary blueprint information, or chemical factors. They are now equipped with the necessary programming to address the necessary task.

There are three different types of stem cells, two of which can currently be used for diverse rehabilitative purposes, and a third is enjoying its first applied success as of March 20171.

Non-Embryonic “Somatic,” or “Adult” Stem Cells are harvested from adult tissues2

Embryonic Stem Cells from (mostly) in vitro created embryos2

Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs) can be induced to behave as stem cells by programming them to their nascent or embryonic state2

Currently, Meier Orthopedic Sports Medicine (MOSM) utilizes adult stem cells that are harvested from the patient’s own body (autogenous).

Platelet-Rich Plasma(PR) – The Subcontractors

PRP or Platelet-Rich Plasma can be used in conjunction with stem cell  treatments to give a boost to the stem cell processes or it can be used as a stand-alone treatment. PRP acts as fuel for the stem cells. Sometimes, after a stem cell treatment at our Beverly Hills office, Dr. Meier will inject PRP at one month intervals to “recharge” the stem cells, which can remain active for 8-12 months. For PRP, the patient’s own blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma. This plasma is now concentrated with platelets and is packed with at least seven growth factors – epidermal growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor-beta, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, and keratinocyte growth factor3.

PRP can be likened to subcontractors. If PRP is used as a standalone, it would be as though you pulled subcontractors who are doing other maintenance jobs in other parts of your house off their normal tasks. This amassed group of skilled workers would then focus their areas of expertise on fixing the buckled load-bearing wall. This crew wouldn’t need the blueprints from the GCs (stem cells) because they all have specific skill sets and each knows how to execute the tasks required of them. Yet, as mentioned, in the presence of stem cells (or GCs, if you will), they can still jump in and do their jobs and work together.

Prolotherapy – The Inspector

Prolotherapy can be likened to sending an irritated inspector into the space that needs attention. His irritation is sensed by the workers in other areas of the house, so they respond to the area and begin repairing the buckled wall.

The term “prolotherapy” is short for “proliferative therapy,” which involves the stimulation of a proliferative or regenerative process in the body. The prolotherapy technique involves administering multiple injections of a dextrose-saline solution in a specific concentration into or around the tissue requiring treatment. Prolotherapy can be used to treat musculoskeletal disorders in 2 main ways. One is to inject injured connective tissue structures like ligaments and tendons to induce healing. As injured or degenerated and lax supportive structures cause joint instability and painful inflammation, healing these structures reduces painful inflammation from bursitis, tendinosis or damaged cartilage.

Prolotherapy can be used to treat musculoskeletal disorders in two main ways. One is to inject injured connective tissue structures, like ligaments and tendons, in order to induce healing. Injured, degenerated or lax supporting structures cause joint instability, which can lead to painful inflammation, therefore, healing these structures leads to improved tension and reduction of joint instability, allowing the painful inflammation to subside.  way to use prolotherapy is to inject concentrated dextrose solution inside joints to reduce painful inflammation from bursitis, tendinosis or damaged cartilage.

Prolotherapy works in several different ways. Prolotherapy has been demonstrated to induce the production of collagen. Collagen is an essential substance found in supportive ligaments, which functions like the fibers in a rope or cable. Collagen also provides the framework to support cartilage just like the rebar used in buildings.

Additionally, prolotherapy stimulates the production of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, which are the building blocks of cartilage, providing its compressive and cushioning properties. Also, very importantly, dextrose prolotherapy solutions have been shown to naturally decrease neurogenic inflammation, a common source of pain in many musculoskeletal conditions.
