Okay, lore dump time! The humanoid bugs aren't humans who have touched the gem. They were born from other humanoid bugs. The gem had turned normal bugs into the humanoid bugs a long time ago, and the humanoid ones have just been repopulating in the swamp. There are regular bugs too. There are more regular bugs than there are humanoid ones. Most of the humanoid bugs live in a vicinity pretty close to the gemtree, which is in the deeps parts of the swamp.

The humanoid bugs can crossbreed with other humanoid bugs regardless of their species. Most humanoid bugs have detached themselves from their original regular bug species. They will actually keep regular bugs as pets because of how vastly different they are.

As for how babies look. It depends. Some look more like larvae, others look like small versions of their parents. Some look like a mix of their adult and larva forms. It depends on the parents and their genes. Each individual is unique looking, even compared to their own species.

August 8-11 Gemtree - a wonderful hide away

I just had to back track a bit to tell you about this special little place - Gemtree on the Plenty Hwy in the Central Australian Gemfields. It’s not 4 star but has power, water, amenities and it totally relaxing. Plus the opportunity to learn about fossicking. A big bonus is the humongous Gemtree pies which are a meal for two. They take a couple of days to prepare and are to die for; the burgers are supposed to be equally as good as are the squishy vanilla slices. And if that wasn’t enough you can phone in an order and they deliver your meal to your site. How good is that? Makes up for the poor internet access.

We were there for 4 days before heading further north in the meantime there’s a roast and bread to be cooked. Have loved having camp fire and being able to bake bread.
