Am I alone in finding Azrael x Vas so compellingly hot. For some reason the dynamics really are there for me. In a morally bankrupt manipulative way.
Can’t get over the fact that Azrael saw Vas, said he was “born wrong” and creepy, tricked him into microdosing a bit of humanity and suggested he start stanning satan. What does he want????
Also Vas is such a delightful little shit - it’s nice to see him not on top of things and from the perspective of much more powerful angels like lucifer and Azrael
HAHAHA you are definitely not alone in this. I do think Azrael is one of the hottest characters in the comic.
He’s an intensely morally grey character, and as the embodiment of death he’s meant to come across just as cruel as he is kind. Does death have reason? Hard to say.
Vasariah is a very insignificant angel… I think in Act 1 it’s easy to see how, from Lorne’s perspective, he can come across as a more powerful being than he actually is. Amongst his own kind? Dude’s not even important enough to get a direct meeting with his boss(es).
I do think the inherent power dynamic between the two is especially compelling, and it’s clear that Azrael is more aware that it’s something that can be abused than Vasariah.
P. S. Should make it clear that while I sometimes refer to Azrael and Vasariah as uncle/nephew, this is more of a shorthand to describe their relationship & closeness in regard to Angel hierarchy. They do not consider themselves to be “related” or “family,” and this description should not be taken more seriously than priests/nuns referring to each other as brother/sister.
That being said, I’m extremely open to people exploring relationships between my characters (within reason!), whether that be romantic, sexual, familial, etc. I tend to play with these a lot in my head and find them very interesting.
#I will say for myself these days I lean toward them having a more familial relationship#though in its original conception it was something much more ambiguous#generally leaned away from this because I think it would paint Azrael in too poor of a light#the reader is really not supposed to be able to tell if he’s a friend or enemy to the protagonists#I mean it’s really unclear whether or not he’s in Vasariah’s corner#so who is to say whether or not he’d be in Lorne/Satan’s right?#anyway feel free to play with my dolls#within reason#asks#anonymous
