The kiss was meh. I wish they got handsy with each other. juz bcuz… 🫠

I'm telling ya, it's because she's probably never kissed a lefty standing up. Watch it again and she's all kinda tryna figure out where to lean, though Martin was tryna guide/nudge at her. But yes, Ortega needed to be more handsy, like she was with Adlon. But, she was drunk and upset there.

Still...the mehness of the fake rain kiss is what made me discount it from UVC as part of her fantasies. Anything where she's wearing that dress and the bow in her hair is fantasy sequence to UVC (her mind fabricated it bc she wanted it so desperately).

Her "Come here." was quite nice, though. And when she did come here/go there, he should've handed her the phone, and the foreplay should've begun with their hands (i.e. she could've grasped his and pulled him in...the narration about "being brave" would've still fit). It's always easier to ease into closer physical contact with hands. It would have been a nice parallel to the hands shot:

22 Seconds of Need

In the 22 seconds after Jon tells her that she will have to shoulder her misconceptions (regrettably) alone, his face says otherwise. It is perhaps the first time he started to hurt as much as her (actually, it started when he practically stuttered "A student.").

Freeman is a very good microexpressionist, like Ortega. You can tell that Jon doesn't like to have to stand up for himself/his job/his error because he's just as in love with her as she is with him. Instead of stepping back from her, he presses forward just a bit, to fortify his position; however, his flickered brow furrow — the one that showed itself the moment he was trying to figure out if she was 'real'/if what he had just heard was real (after she recited his passage to him from her memory) — shows itself again, as his eyes are volleying from her eyes to her lips.

Good gods, I came here to make the observation about how cute her little boob fits so well into his slight gut and realized that the probable reason why the kiss looked so awkward for Jenna is because she is a righty and Martin is a lefty. Lefties tend to lean towards their dominant side when kissing, just like righties normally lean right. 🤦🏽‍♂️

ETA: The sound on the Netflix version is SO much better and clearer than what Amazon Prime gave me. It angers me bc I could've had a better AI Cairo and Jon. Like...everything is clearer, including Jon's forced excuses during the conversation. You can hear the hesitations much, much better. The line she is supposed to narrate about her with her fingers knuckle deep was all but a whisper compared to what it is via Netflix.

Lukewarm Take/Shower Thought: Both Boris and Beatrice's rip on Jonathan were serious speeches of projection.

(This first obvs isn't a new one for me and I worked it into UVC, but just to review...)

Boris is the one who crossed the line when he gave his number to a student for non-school related things. That's why Jon huffed at his assertion that he knew the line and was (especially with that Male Gaze crap on his phone) BUT...

Beatrice crossed her line when she said he was the "banner boy for mediocrity". Beatrice is an alcoholic semi-successful (I mean...she has to be somewhat successful, but she still lives pretty humbly near a backwoods area with her teacher husband? I ttly forgot that in the OG script she says that they can't afford a lawyer for Jon, but I went the other way in UVC) writer but her writing might just be mediocre. She's not gifted like Jon perceives Cairo to be, because she downplayed his enamoring of her vocabulary. For all we know, she writes Dark Romance (LOL "Lesser Expectations of a Greater Love"...sounds bitchfully autobiographic).

Perception is the key here. Cairo was drawn to Jon's writing because it's like hers (as per the exchange) and vice versa. She felt something tangible when she read that passage; and she wanted to be the inspiration for his writing like Bea was.

She gave her honest opinion before she recited the passage ("grand and tragic"/"romantic horror").

She was mad/hurt when she dissed it. (And Jon was nothing that Cairo said he was when she was drunk.

Jon never put himself in front of her as some kind of famous or even wonderful writer. She did that. And Winnie recognized that she was only dissing his work bc she got rejected. Not his fault she rocked the pedestal, or even that she idealized him in that way. She saw herself in him...two ghosts haunting a graveyard.) It's that whole thing about how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Argh, I need to save some thoughts for the reviewlysis.

Also, it's real sad that he was emasculated twice by two different women in the same manner. But at least Cairo has room to learn/grow.

Would she have, according to Bartlett's canon is another story. But don't fret bbs, u still gots UVC LOL🥹💖💕✨

...Aaaand he is still alive. And pretty much decent (per usual as is his "decent"). I woke up bc he was stirring by my face (slept w him under my hand again...this time he put his jaw on my hand).

I should still be asleep since I was pretty successfully awake all night. Had to bathroom, after a minute I heard his barking. He had fallen where he shouldna fallen (but not a bad fall, he does this all the time) but was alert instead of distressed. He had been trying to follow me.

I forgot the kind of rollercoaster that some parents of senior pets this old go through, bc some pets are super weird and resistant. My boy who passed in 2021 was like that. He would have a great day and then a terrible one. Then one day after a bath he just collapsed. 💔

Ah wow, I just had the completely random revelation that people are waiting to see what happens with Donovan in Afterburn...since all the shit with Wednesday happened onscreen. And that's good, cuz there's plenty of him (and Tyler 🤢) in 8.1. He's got some really good scenes.

Like I mentioned before, he's hard to capture as an action figure/figurine. The first Nevermore set I did captured him perfectly.

Various reasons why I didn't post any of them (there's tons more, from their year long gap year trip). In the cozy ones, the cat is all wrong. It's supposed to be an all gray cat, but Bing sucks at recognizing what you write sometimes. I didn't include the cat in UVC, but she exists. It's Mama Sweet's cat that lives on the property. Their toes are hecka cute.

Beach one is obvious...I have no idea why Bing thinks they should have tattoos. 😑 And I never asked for a collared shirt for Jon in the last. Ugh.

Dog is up and 'about' so now I gotta go help him. Trying to write (yeah, I just woke up ~20 minutes ago) in between but he is very fkn needy. Wednesday started her loop and is about to become captivated by those startlingly light eyes. Don't tell me Gomez Addams is your father...hee 💕✨

I don't even know why I was checking to see if Miller's Girl was on Netflix yet since I fkn own it and can give it to anyone who asks nicely (I already gave it to the ficwives and I think the Angry German...maybe one of the Teachers from the teacher crush community).

Yes, ask nicely and if I deem you trustworthy I'll give you the link. Takes like a min to download, it's HQ but not 4K (I think I had the option of ripping it in—12K? Something ridiculous—but it was REALLY big). I would have to upload it in 4K if you really wanted it for cap purposes but someone already uploaded those caps.

But now that it will be on Netfucks maybe I can get Netfucks subtitles. 😂 I'M A COLLECTOR, OKAY?
