i bought a yamaha fb-01 off a guy on craigslist for really cheap today. really good fm synth with multitimbral voicing. i plugged it in to this song i wrote for the sega genesis like 5 years ago. all of the FM voices are playing off the fb01 simultaneously (!!!) and the squarewave and PCM channels are software emulated off genny (good genesis emulation vst).

So I've been thinking about making my own au and I want to create music for it, and your music is really good so what version of Fl studio would you recommend?

I use FL Studio 12, as it has support for the soundfont player without having to jump through any extra hoops. Tbh, I see no real reason to upgrade because I’m so used to FL 12 and it gets the job done! I would also recommend, at minimum, the following soundfonts for UT style music: - SGM - Touhou - Chrono Trigger - Mother 3 - Earthbound - Final Fantasy VI - Ultimate Megadrive Soundfont or Genesis Soundfont - Megaman X3 In general, UT uses a lot of 16-bit and 8-bit era sounds and samples, but you can go beyond this! magical8bit VST is also very good as of its latest update, and there’s NES VST. Genny beta (?) is a p. good Genesis VST that can load samples from genesis games in its older versions. VGMTrans is also a good program for ripping VG samples from the DS.
