HELLO I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT I LOVE YOU

I've been hoarding this ask for ages because I've been unable to choose a bird, but I learnt about diamond doves yesterday and now I simply must talk about them!!

Geopelia cuneata are small Australian pigeons that like to live near water in semiarid areas and have SUCH cool eyes like what are those ring things around them?? They're so bright!

I understood diamond doves' name the moment I saw a picture of the species because the wings look just like someone hot glued a ton of those tiny plastic crafts diamonds on them

Diamond Dove (Geopelia cuneata)

Diamond Doves are named due to the white specks on their wings, which resemble tiny diamonds - though they are not iridescent or 'sparkly'. They are one of Australia's smallest pigeons along with the Peaceful Dove, and are occasionally kept as pets.

Wild species, unrelated to C. livia

Filmed in the wild or a zoo.

I specialize exclusively in the domestic pigeon, (Columba livia) and the domestic Ringneck Dove, Streptopelia risoria.

I have rehab experience with Eurasian Collared Doves (Streptopelia decaocto) and Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura)

And very limited Diamond Dove (Geopelia cuneata) care experience.

This is a wild species of fruit dove, not remotely related to any of the above species, filmed either in the wild or in a naturalistic aviary exhibit as far as I can tell.

They are small pigeons with a length of 19 to 21 centimeters or 9 to 11 inches. Regardless of sex, they have white spots and black edges on their wings, red eyes and orange eye-rings. The sexes look similar except the female's eye ring is less vivid and has more of a brown colour to the plumage. The male's head, neck, and breast are light blue-grey. The bill is a dark grey colour. The abdomen is a creamy colour while the back and tail is a brown-grey colour. The legs and feet are pink. The juveniles have a light grey bill; the iris and eye ring is fawn in colour; the feet and legs are grey; the breast is grey and does not possess any white spots on their wings.
