Hm reading history of Georgia and apparently russia has a long tradition of going back on agreements...
In 1783, Russia and the eastern Georgian Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti signed the Treaty of Georgievsk, which made eastern Georgia a protectorate of Russia, guaranteed its territorial integrity and the continuation of its reigning Bagrationi dynasty in return for prerogatives in the conduct of Georgian foreign affairs.[69]
Despite its commitment to defend Georgia, Russia rendered no assistance when the Iranians invaded in 1795, capturing and sacking Tbilisi and massacring its inhabitants.[70] Although Russia initiated a punitive campaign against Persia in 1796, the Russian Imperial authorities subsequently violated key promises of the Georgievsk Treaty and in 1801 proceeded to annex eastern Georgia, while abolishing the Georgian royal Bagrationi dynasty
Later:
In 1920 Soviet Russia recognized Georgia's independence with the Treaty of Moscow. But the recognition proved to be of little value, as the Red Army invaded Georgia in 1921 and formally annexed it into the Soviet Union in 1922.[82]

About Ibrahim Khalil
He had to contest the khanate with Mehrali bey Javanshir, his younger brother who was left behind by his father Panah Ali Khan prior to his departure to Iran in 1759.[8] Ibrahim Khalil emerged victorious thanks to aid by his new relative Umma Khan of Avar Khanate and forced his brother to flee the region. Later in his reign, Avar and Karabakh khanates coordinated against growing power of Fatali Khan of Quba. Despite their efforts, Shirvan Khanate was invaded by Fatali and Quba's power continued to grow. However later in 1774, combined forces of Amir Hamza of Qaytaq, Muhammad Husayn Khan Mushtaq of Shaki, Muhammed Khan of Gazikumukh Khanate, Rustam of Tabasaran Principality, Ali Sultan of Dzhengutay and other Dagestan forces clashed with Fatali Khan in Battle of Gavdushan plains near Khudat. This was a heavy blow to Fatali Khan's ambitions, he fled scene wounded.
In the 1780s, Ibrahim Khalil Khan emerged as one of the most powerful rulers in the eastern Caucasus. He aspired to bring most of the Muslim-ruled territory from the Caucasus mountains as far south as Tabriz under his sway,[need quotation to verify] but eventually he had to curb his efforts in the face of the rising Qajar power in Iran. He was then allied with the Georgian king Erekle II of Kartli-Kakheti and the two interfered in the affairs of the Erivan khanate and made the Ganja Khanate their puppet. Muhammad Hasan of Ganja was soon arrested by Ibrahim Khalil together his son Agha. However Fatali Khan invaded Karabakh in 1780 by crossing the Kura River, but then Erekle II helped Ibrahimkhalil Khan by sending him a detachment under the command of princes George and David. In August of that year the khan of Quba undertook an unsuccessful campaign again, but in the beginning of 1781 he could penetrate deep into Karabakh and to captured some amount of peasants from there.[9] The alliance waned after Erekle accepted the Russian protectorate in the treaty of Georgievsk in 1783. Ibrahim maintained contact with the Russian authorities, but did not sign any formal treaty.

“The President-Elect and soon-to-be 5th (and first female) President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, had social networks buzzing with questions as to where her inauguration ceremony would be held, with Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Poti and Telavi tossed in the pot of suggestions. The lady herself put rest to the gossip when she announced Telavi (Kakheti) as her choice, specifically the Royal Palace of Erekle II.
“Zurabishvili’s choice was in a way exotic and has diversified the traditional location of inaugurations, which have always taken place in front of the (old) Parliament building in Tbilisi. Moving a ceremony of such importance from the capital to the region was perceived as an interesting step, however, only until we take a closer look, because when we do, we might read Salome’s monarchical 'weaknesses' between the lines. Ms. Zurabishvili has previously stated that she is convinced that in order to restore the territorial unity of the country, it is important to restore the monarchy, which would replace the current parliamentary republic. A year ago she wrote on her Facebook page that the country is practically without experience of being under a parliamentary system, and that it is run by parties which have zero trust from the public.
“If we take into consideration King Erekle II and the Russian-Georgian épopée of those times, we can easily guess how this decision can be interpreted in the Kremlin. In 1783, in the tractate signed by King Erekle II in Georgievsk, the existence of the Georgian state was terminated for good. We all know the attitude of the Kremlin towards signs and symbols, hence nothing can be ruled out. Although they have yet to comment, local political experts have started analyzing the issue. Gia Khukhashvili believes that holding the inauguration ceremony in Telavi raises associations of the ending of the Presidential era in the country.”

my mom's cousin said something pro-russian and I almost threw up on the table I felt rage of my every single ancestor and then my mom was like "well I prefer orthodox russia over rotten europe" and I was like GIRL!(£,#?@*#&?@?@*@ like don't get me wrong FUCK europe and FUCK america but have we learnt NOTHING from our history???
the reason why vakhtang the 6th lost the throne is because Peter the 1st didn't help him against Iran, the reason why king erekle couldn't get samcxe back is because russia didnt help him, the reason why erekle lost the battle of krtsanisi is because russia didn't help him (all while literally promising him that they fucking would), the reason why treaty of georgievsk was ripped on our head is because russia didn't give a shit neither about us nor our mutual religion, the only thing they've ALWAYS cared about is conquering us TF YOU MEAN YOU PREFER RUSSIA BECAUSE OF ORTHODOXY?????
we had to leave otherwise I'd go on a whole ass rant with arguments and proof and every single year when and how Russia spat in our faces and didn't give a flying fuck about Christianity
