There's just something very specific about homoerotic character-enveloping friendships from around 2010 where they're semi-aware that gay people exist but queerbaiting isn't quite a thing yet sp their relationship consumes the narrative and changes them both irrevocably forever and they end in tragedy but the ending is JUST open enough for the fic writers to wriggle into that just makes me go fucking FERAL

Will never get over abed saying “compulsion” and “side effect” in S5 ep5 because to him no one would willingly come back after leaving him..

To abed everyone is just waiting for the opportunity to leave him, Troy was the first person to ever make him think otherwise that maybe Troy proves that people do like him that there are people who would stay with him. But then he leaves.

you guys know how abed has that head tilt tic that sometimes gets triggered when he’s upset? (lmk if you don’t know what I’m talking about, I have other examples.)

anyway, he does it again (very slightly) when troy is leaving at the end of geothermal escapism. I haven’t been able to unsee it since I noticed it and it’s absolutely destroyed me so I thought I’d burden you all with it too <3

the subtlety and how held back it is just makes it more devastating. it’s also yet another testament to how great of an actor danny pudi is. I have no idea if he even did the tic consciously, but he understands abed on such a deep level that it’s automatic for him. and even if it was a conscious decision danny made, it’s very obvious that for abed, it wasn’t intentional. for abed, it was just an automatic expression of how upset he was. it’s so realistic and heartbreaking UGH I hate this SHOW (I love this show)

idk if anyone was even wondering this or if it was even a topic of discourse on here but in geothermal escapism i dont think abed was trying to manipulate troy into staying (ive been on reddit again 😔) i think he really just wanted troy to understand, he wanted troy to be able to go and become his own person, he just wanted troy to know how much it would destroy abed to be without him. when troy says "so the only way i can help you is by giving up my chance to be my own person?" or something close to that, i think thats kinda when abed realises how what hes saying sounds, and so he then lets himself fall into the lava, because he wants to show troy that he DOES want him to be his own person but by 'dying' in the lava hes showing troy how much it still hurts that hes leaving. anyway i have more to say on this but i cant really remember what i was saying, and if this post sucks balls i'm gonna blame it on the fact its nearly two in the morning where i am, okayy bye thanks for ur consideration i supose
