Good news! Many pharmacies across the U.S. received Novavax shipments yesterday, Sept. 9 2024.
Call your local and confirm with a human.

Flu season is coming. COVID is continuing to mutate because it's able to find so many hosts. Do your part. Mask up in public places so that you don't spread anything you might have and to reduce the chance you might pick up something that you could then spread. Get the shots, if they're safe for you, to lower your risks of infection and long-term damage. Air filters and good ventilation are also highly recommended.

I decided to get the latest flu and COVID shots yesterday. Slightly sore shoulders, but that's it... all done! Flu in the left of me, COVID in the right. Here I am, relaxing September 2. 😊 Fall arrives in 3 weeks!

I’ve gotten Covid boosters every time they’re available and you should too because keeping people safe is sexy and kind and a gigachad move.
That said: this latest one is absolutely beating the shit out of me. I am so tired.
Send soup.

oh dang! unfamiliar with that particular campaign, as I always donate via crips for e-sims because it's super easy to do, but regardless let's go people!

I had titer testing done found that my MMR and Tdap vaccines needed updating, with my doctor’s guidance.
I’d suggest for anyone who’s able to do the same. It may be in Texas now, but our world is fairly borderless thanks to travel. This absolute failure of “leadership” will allow previously-controlled diseases to spread; look out for yourselves.
Government webpages across all sectors are being edited or removed, so here’s an archived link to the CDC vaccination schedule:

Measles was declared eliminated in the U.S., yet we're now witnessing its resurgence
This is a direct consequence of misinformation campaigns and science denial. Those who are most vulnerable—young children, pregnant individuals, and people with compromised immune systems—must now face the risks associated because our collective immunity has been fractured.
The injustice is palpable: those who understand or trust scientific consensus must bear the burden created by those who have rejected basic science and who have put their trust in easily disproven misinformation.
This is not a benign childhood illness to simply endure. Measles is a highly contagious, serious airborne disease caused by a virus that can lead to severe complications and death. It’s one of the most contagious viruses on the planet. The virus can trigger severe pneumonia, encephalitis (brain inflammation/swelling), permanent disabilities, and carries a mortality rate that disproportionately affects vulnerable populations.
Measles is so contagious that if one person has it, up to 90% of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected.
A person can become infected simply by being in a room where a person with measles breathed, coughed, sneezed within the past two hours. It is airborne.
Infected individuals are contagious for about 8 days, starting 4 days before the rash appears and continuing for 4 days after the rash appears.
And yet, despite decades of irrefutable evidence (evidence gathered through decades of rigorous research and billions of successful vaccinations) proving vaccines are safe and effective, we find ourselves in a preventable public health crisis—watching preventable diseases spread because too many people would rather believe conspiracy theories than decades of evidence and proof through established medical consensus. Communities that once enjoyed protection now face outbreaks that were entirely avoidable.
Science works whether people believe in it or not. The scientific reality remains unchanged regardless of public opinion; it does not bend to misinformation. But thanks to the growing rejection of basic science, the burden now falls on those who respect evidence over ideology—and on everyone whose health depends on our shared commitment to each other.

Yep. It's been over a year that I've been saying COVID is causing, essentially, C-AIDS. That is, Covid-Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
The "COVID is the new HIV" idea is supported by current studies showing viral persistence of COVID in various places throughout the body, long after infection. It doesn't just cause some damage and then completely go away.
Our children, the ones who survive to adulthood, will not forgive us.
The best gift you can give your children in a world of climate crisis and social collapse will be "the fewest COVID infections possible" (both for themselves and you).
Mask the fuck up. Wear an N95, KN95, KF94, or better mask. Use HEPA filters or a Corsi-Rosenthal box. Exchange the air with outside air.
At-home rapid tests are giving a lot of false negatives (because they were build to detect the original version), so do test ... but don't take a single negative result as "definitely don't have it". If you test positive, you're contagious. Even if it's been 5, 10, or more days.
Good luck out there.

Yesterday, I received the COVID–19 booster shot. My minor side effects are fatigue, sore arm, headache, and body chills. Overall, it was a very positive experience. Thank you to the dedicated teams at Rowan University and the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH). ♥

Something you can do to help!
Got a quick, easy action item for anyone with a couple minutes to spare.
The Wildland Firefighter Paycheck Protection Act is back in the Senate. If it does not pass, federal wildland firefighters will be facing a 50% paycut here in a couple months (yeah, I said FIFTY). I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who would keep working their job if their pay got cut by fifty-percent. And right now, that cut is poised to come right at the start of the worst of fire season. I'm sure I don't need to explain why this is NOT GREAT.
Please use this handy dandy form to contact your representatives and ask them to pass this act. Call them too, if that's a thing you've got the bandwidth for!
If you're not in the US, a simple signal boost is much appreciated!
