How is this not national news?
At a glance Weekly estimates of COVID-19 vaccination coverage and parental intent for vaccination among children are calculated using data from the National Immunization Survey–Flu (NIS–Flu). COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage and Intent for Vaccination, Children 6 months through 17 years Weekly estimates of COVID-19 vaccination coverage and parental intent for vaccination among children through December 31, 2023, were calculated using data from the National Immunization Survey–Child COVID Module (NIS–CCM). The NIS–CCM was discontinued at the end of 2023 and questions regarding COVID-19 vaccination status and intent were added to the National Immunization Survey–Flu (NIS–Flu).
NIS–CCM and NIS–Flu are national random-digit dial cellular telephone surveys of households with children ages 6 months through 17 years; NIS–Flu is conducted during October-June. The respondent to a NIS–Flu survey is a parent or guardian who said they were knowledgeable about the child's vaccination history.  All estimates are based upon parental report of receipt of vaccination and month of that vaccination.
Weekly comparisons to previous season should take into account differences between seasons in vaccine availability dates. 2023–24 COVID-19 vaccines were first available mid-September 2023, and 2024–25 COVID-19 vaccines were first available at the end of August 2024.
The NIS–Flu data posted on the dashboard below are currently a few days behind the data that are posted on the Respiratory Illnesses Data Channel. This lag is due to the time it takes to review data by geographic and sociodemographic characteristics and summarize the findings.

A cull of Twitter commentary, memes, etc on the vileness of Trump's regime (and also the World Economic Forum, which is apparently being run by a literal goddamn Bond villain).
Your weekly reminder to get your kids and yourself vaccinated or buy a shovel, because that'll help when digging their small graves.

Important reminder for my fellow U.S. people:
We are about to go into Trump’s 2nd term as President (awful, I know). Sadly RFK Jr is going to be in charge of the Department of Health, and he’s talking about cutting back on important stuff like vaccines.
So this is me reminding you, if you’re not up to date on your vaccines, to GO GET VACCINATED. Remind your parents and friends, make sure your children are getting vaccinated, etc. It’s simple and effective, so please do it before any crazy government crackdowns happen.
Here’s a list of vaccines the CDC says adults should have: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines-adults/recommended-vaccines/index.html

This is really random but if you’re scared of mpox (monkey pox) we have a vaccine already! Mpox first came around (that I know anyway) during covid and during the covid vaccines they also made one for mpox.
Go get vaccinated!

Taking a break from my usual fandom posting to tell y'all to GET YOUR FLU SHOTS.
I am typing this with one arm double the size of the other, tucked up close by my body, because of the flu shot. I am allergic to it. Every year since I was 4, the flu shot has made me swell up near the injection site for days, sometimes even as long as two weeks. It looks like there's an egg under my skin, and I can feel the fluid moving when I walk.
And y'know what?
I STILL GET THE SHOT.
Because I would rather be in pain than spread the flu. Because there are people in my community who could die if they got the flu. And getting the vaccine is a simple precaution I can take to reduce their risk of getting the flu. I do not want their death (or life-threatening illness, or long-lasting complications, or even just unpleasant sickness) on my conscience.
Vaccines work. When everyone gets them, the herd immunity can protect those whose vaccines weren't as effective, or those who can't get a vaccine (like those with severe egg allergies).
Unless you will go into anaphylactic shock from a flu shot, or your doctor has told you not to get it, you should go get your shot. It protects you, and it protects the vulnerable people around you.
At least in the US, the flu shot is offered for FREE at many large supermarkets (ie Kroger) and pharmacies (ie CVS), in addition to clinics and vaccination drives run by organizations near you. For more information or if you don't live in the US, you can check with your county/other local government's website. They should have a page directing you to places to get vaccinations.

Got double-vaxxed the same day. I'm now looking at a second night of bad sleep, sweating, and shivering.
AND THAT'S FINE. It isn't ideal, but it's *fine*. Why?
Because it means my body is producing antibodies. It means my body is prepping to fight this shit off of it comes near me for realsies. Which means I'm way less likely to be a hazard to the people around me. The people that I care about *the most*.
Get your fucking vaccines. You want to show how much you care about the people around you? Start by trying to minimize the plague in the easiest way possible.

Well I’m currently in quarantine due to finally getting Covid after managing to avoid it for three years. I’m not feeling great but symptoms are manageable. If I’m needed you’ll find me napping/cuddling with my cat/watching X Files in bed for the next week.
