All the cities are behind walls and space is incredibly luxurious and sought after. The outsides are wild and vile, full of corruption and dangers.

Which makes me ask the question:

How do they bury their dead?

I already thought about what griefing looks like, but not actually what a funeral would be.

(For those interested: Death is associated with birds, flowers and fire. One for freedom, one for growth and one for renewal. Upon someones death, it is customary to gift seeds, plants or growing flowers to somebody. Once those have blossomed and wilted, the people around are allowed to ask about the dead uninvited. Its kind of a natural griefing period, in which respect is the utmost important thing. Beyond that, If you're still struggling, you may wear a broche in the shape of a flower, signifying to those around you that you have lost someone and that you may be fragile).

But what do funerals look like? You cant bury people, space and earth are too prescious. You cant hang them (thats reserved for scoundrels and such and also incredibly unhygienic. You would never let them rot inside the walls and thats just blasphemous in itself).

So Ive arrived at burning and pyres. Vespahr is already associated with them. And one can take the ashes and use them for the flowers and the gardens.

Though im not sure on this yet and I would appreciate any input or thought or "I think this is neat" or "Wow, Cece, try harder" that you have.

Because of this, i shall call upon my two trusted confidants of worldbuilding:

(Please help, Ive been thinking about this for days and im just never really satisfied. Pyres also mean that you need a space for burning. Is that outside the walls? Or is there a whole section just dedicated to pyres? Almost like a temple in itself? Would this section then also essentially have botanists and such in them? As in, are the priests of Vespahr doing both the burning and the flower Bits? What about smaller settlements? Once that arent as crowded, ones that have more time to grief comunally. That means everyone goes to the Pyre. These things gotta be big. Aaaand burning humans openly also has like a whole... Smell associated with it. Would that mean that the Pyres are further out but the ashes and such get carried back to the settlement? Furthermore, what If a settlement outgrows its Pyre? Are these like "cold" temples then? Is it allowed to be built over? Do you see my fucking Problem???)

@ghostlycoyote0 basically the whole saveafox “rescue” is an absolute shit show.

Here is a good post going into some of the issues with SAF (though if I may warn you, there is some sad stuff regarding animal death and cruelty), and I’d also recommend @is-the-fox-video-cute saveafox tag too, as they’ve covered quite a bit of the... interesting things SAF has done.

Tell me about the dynamics please?

Will try to be brief as I could ramble on and on abt these for a while:

Earth & Air: Wainwright is still, traditional, rich in both the material and spiritual sense. Alistair is a traveller - enlightened, graceful, but detached.

Salt & Sugar: Wainwright is more simplistic, basic, practical. Alistair is more sweet, nice, enjoyable. Both are refined.

Force & Finesse: Wainwright uses a shotgun. Alistair uses a sniper. (This also turns up in several more ways but this one's the most obvious)

The Home & The Adventurer: I have an entire post on this.

The Warrior King & The Knight: Wainwright is the heir to a massive corporation. Alistair is a disparaged noble. Both of them fight, and they're immensely loyal to one another, and also protective of each other.

Opposites Attract (in general): Self explanatory.

I’m watching a D&D actual play where one of the characters has an accent that’s maybe one step away from Wainwright’s, so of course now I’m wondering

How would it go if the JFV cast played a TTRPG?

Angel would be DM'ing. Hammerlock and Wainwright would obviously try to seduce each other's PCs as soon as they could. Troy would make a blatantly OP character, shamelessly munchkinning his stats. Hansuke would be the guy who attacks NPCs the moment things go wrong. Laz is a fairly normal player. Hammerwright is banned for various reasons but Angel would still give it a statblock

What style of writing do you find the most fun? E.g. I like to get overly verbose and descriptive

Pratchett-esque, or sort of like older books from the Victorian era: snappy, often humorous, but still descriptive and thorough.
