Little did he know I’m a pretty huge .ron, so I jumped at the chance and wanted to make something special. Besides the Dead .moe was ‘that’ jam band for me. They started my love for heavy improv bands and still are a favorite to this day. Rob’s slapping is one of the reasons I got into bass as much as I did. I wanted to make something reminiscent of the vintage Fillmore prints that started it all. I pulled inspiration from some of my favorite OG poster artists, Maclean, Moehring, and Gary Eagle. If you don’t know, now you know😄 Really stoked on these, sort of a surreal moment. Super grateful to have had the chance to craft these up. Everyday Concert Posters: Slayer Slayer Slayer! I have done art for slayer 3 times. The last time was by request of the band. I wanted to do something really cool, I had to out do myself from the last two times. So I went with not only make it 3D but also making it kinetic art. So how to make it 3D but also make it move? I had to get the help of my good friend and partner Derek Conway we had several long meetings and below was the outcome. Logo stays stationary and saw blade spins. This seems simple but it was pretty tricky. The finished product was crazy! Then we were asked to present the art to the band. What an amazing opportunity, they were so nice. Who knew? Tomás Enrique Araya Díaz.. if you didn’t know you would think he is the local yoga instructor, not the satan slinging singer of slayer, they were all so ... just nice. Everyday Concert Posters: Growing up and getting into skateboarding, I was turned on to Agent Orange through a skate video called Skate Visions. It had Mark Gator and lester kasai and Jeff Phillips’s.. there is a scene with them playing in a pool and everyone is skateboarding around them. It blew my 13 year old mind. We ( Stephen Fitzwater , Scott and Jay Paul Sanchez ) must of watched that a million times. So when I had a chance to do art for them, I was super stoked! ( thanks Gavin) I wanted it to look like their skateboard art from the 80’s. I printed their logo in white on the substrate first , so when the art is printed it would have a embossed look to it. I used an 80’s style color way . Brite orange and light blue.. it’s loud and colors looks like they are moving. I got to go to the show that night and took my old friends Stephen and Jay and also ran into a bunch of guys from the old skate days at Bachman Lake or “clown ramp” . Everyday Concert Posters : in the years I have been doing this I have only done a few things for H.O.B. And I did this one for BIZ MARKIE unsolicited.. it was for me.. 😎. I used all the album covers from his catalog of music and the iconic 80’s hip hop photo of him as the subject matter for the art. I took the black out of the photo and replaced it with the album covers. Pretty straight forward but looked pretty cool. I was going to try to see the Fort Worth symphony orchestra doing Bugs Bunny the same night then drive straight to House of Blues to see the Biz. Saw the FSO play music to the cartoons. It was awesome then rushed to the car to head to Dallas. Got on the highway and it was dead stopped.. no one was moving. 😑. It Sucked. We missed the show.. but “silver lining “ the Biz “ when he signed the art , he loved it! He gave his address to Clint Phillips and wanted two for himself. So I printed a couple for him and shipped them to New Jersey.
