Okay, so I fully sympathise with Luke when he breaks up with Lorelai, (the Say Something episode). Like it wasn't enough that Emily constantly insults him, now he found out that his gf went to her ex's house with a bottle of tequila and stayed the night? And she only told him bc she was afraid that the said ex would say something? He had every right to be upset. Sorry to go on about this, but Lorelai showing up at Christopher's doorstep with that bottle will always live in my head as one of the most foolish things a fictional character has done in the whole history of fictional characters. So his father died, so? You say, sorry to hear that, accept my deepest condolences. That's it. If that Stroberwhateverhisstupidnameis was an actual grandfather to Rory, then I could somewhat understand, but he wasn't even that.

Another thing is, why did Lorelai not try to give Luke some advice on how to act around her parents? She was aware of the class divide. Like this is a guy who introduced himself to the maid when Lorelai first took him to meet her mother. Teach him about the etiquette a bit! Don't give Emily more reasons to be prejudiced against him! It's like... like she subconsciously sabotages that relationship, or idk... Or maybe I'm forgetting that humans are flawed.

Lorelai having to sell Christopher on coming to Rory's coming out, and then Rory going "so there's a 50/50 chance!" Breaks my heart in a 100 pieces. It really shows you how inconsistent Christopher has been. It's honestly no surprise that Lorelai falls into the whirlwind of being with him again. He was showing consistency and some growth (a safe car to drive, a stable job, and a place closer to her and Rory) and she went is this it? Is this our moment? Do I finally get to see what our family would be like without our parents breathing down our necks? And he still ends up hurting them.

“Why?” she demands, half desperate and half exhausted, so damn tired of this endless conversation that keeps happening over and over in different ways with subtle variations, so done explaining herself because she knows by now that no one else will ever understand her reasoning, and excuses can only be repeated so many times before they lose their power even on the person making them.

Chris just shakes his head. “I wanna know why the hell it is that you’re so against the idea of starting a family with me. I mean, we’ve been married for seven years, Lor! It’s been almost sixteen since she was born! Aren’t you ready yet?”

“Yes!” Lorelai blurts, irate now. “Yes, I’m ready, and that’s the whole point! God, don’t you get it? I mean, how the hell could I possibly live with myself if I had a kid now, knowing there was another one out there who needed me and I wasn’t there?! I’m—I’m not there,” Lorelai amends. “Right now, actively. She’s sixteen, she’s still a kid and I’m ready now, and I could be there for her, but instead you want me to give all of that to someone else. How can you ask that of me? How can you—how can you even manage that? You’re her father and you don’t even seem to care!”

in an alternate universe dean forester mysteriously disappeared in s3 & someone struck asp on the head with a crowbar to rid her of her obsession with unnecessary conflict stemming from pathetic miscommunication and i got to watch 4 seasons of jess and rory grow as individuals and together until the show ended with them moving to nyc. however im stuck in this universe where rewatching s3 makes me sick to my stomach bc are u kidding me. this is what ur doing to the characters u painstakingly set up to be each other’s literal other halves. u spend one season building them up and developing their personalities and their relationship with each other and then u spend the next season systematically breaking them down bc….. what. a spin off that never even took off??? get real

some people act like luke is too grumpy for lorelai (i don't really agree, i think she can balance him out at times) but also like okay look at how much lorelai loves stars hollow and luke is always criticizing the silly town things but you KNOW he loves it too, he has lived there his whole life and he would never want to leave. he's the only love interest of hers who could ever understand and wouldn't want to live elsewhere

When I first watched gilmore girls I absolutely didn’t understand why Lorelai was so hung up on Chris and kept coming back to him everytime. But after rewatching gg 3 times, I finally get it.

Chris was the first guy Lorelai ever loved. She watched him go away, and get better for other women. She watched him become the man she wanted, but for someone else. He had the potential to become the man she always wanted, but she never got that part of him. She wanted the life that she had imagined with him. It was the dream she couldn’t let go of.

And this makes so much sense now. Ofc that doesn’t make me hate Chris any less. He is still one of the worst characters on the show. But I understand Lorelai a little better now :)

i know i’m in the minority here but i don’t hate chris or lorelai x chris. i think they actually match each other’s energy and charisma and wit really well, and it sucks that their timing has never worked out. 

but i do love their last conversation before deciding to end their marriage because it reminds me that they’re not just husband or wife or lovers or even rory’s mom and dad. they’re also friends. like. their relationship is very much rooted in knowing someone knows you so well because of how old of friends you are. and it’s so so sad to me that people can’t see that regardless of the conflicts they get into, lorelai and chris will always care about each other. because even if they aren’t right to be together, They Are Friends.

I still remember in high school when my friend told me she wanted Lorelai and Christopher to end up together and my brain just stopped processing for a minute at such a profoundly dumb statement.
