Psycho-Pass: Providence - A Review
Well, I just go back from seeing Providence in theaters.
Wow. What an excellent movie. So worth the price of admission and the hour drive each way.
I'll do a more in-depth analysis of the story once it releases for digital and I can re-watch it at my leisure, but I wanted to get my first thoughts down before I get to sleep.
So: Non-spoiler version first.
If you're caught up through all 3 Sinners of the System movies, this movie will be a great segue into the next part of the story. If you've already seen Season 3 and First Inspector, as others have mentioned, this will fill in a LOT of holes.
I think each of our core characters get their moments in the movie, though the lion's share certainly goes to Kogami and Akane. They have a few great conversations in this movie, and I think by the end their relationship is on the most equal footing it has ever been.
Gino also has some wonderful moments. Not a lot of them, but enough that we start to understand who he is and what he is trying to achieve. He and Ko get a few moments to work out their...differences, and by the end, although he fails in his self-appointed goal (he and Ko both), I think it places him in a way that he will grow even further in the future.
Mika took a while to grow on me, but boy has she. I really liked her in this movie. There is one interaction she had with Gino that really made me chuckle, and overall, I really liked how willing she was to step up and move beyond the box she's always put herself in.
Frederica seems very intriguing. I hope we see more of her in future projects.
It was great to get an introduction to Kei and Arata, and to understand where they tie into this story.
Overall the plot was excellent, as always. There were several twists I didn't see coming.
I also have to applaud this series again for its excellent antagonistic characters. Because, in many ways, our antagonist was correct. Providence, indeed.
This series is in a lot of ways reminiscent to me of works like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley or to some degrees Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip K. Dick, which I believe have both been referenced in this series. But it isn't so much the technological parallels that strike me , as the ability of the authors to understand where society seems to be going, and then writing the story to highlight the realities such changes would bring about.
We are facing this future now. With the rise of (primitive) AI technology in recent months, we're going to have to start considering the BIG questions. And this work is a great what-if scenario of where we could end up and the long-term ramifications of such choices.
Now to the spoiler version. You know the drill.
I really liked that Ko's attention is immediately centered on Akane when everyone is walking in. And his utter willingness to throw himself in front of an explosion to save Akane (again), just really made me love these two so much. The first phone call is great, because Kogami is lying to Akane (and also possibly to himself), and she doesn't put up with his bullshit. The second one shows his utter faith and trust in her. And that letter? God I loved that letter. The parallels. I think of all of them, though, my favorite scene of theirs was in the hospital room. I do very much want this couple to end up together, but I think it is oversimplifying their relationship to want them to romantically involved. There are so many layers to who they are as individuals and to how they interact together and apart that calling them romantic interests doesn't even begin to cover the first page. That all being said, I am really excited to see where this story goes and to how these characters develop.
Saiga's death was a true gut punch for me. He is one of my favorite mentor characters, and that death scene was just...powerful.
The reveal of Akira and the truth of his and Milica's stories was also very heart-breaking. It grounds the characters left behind in reality and propels the story forward, and each of them only get a few minutes and a few dozen lines to convey everything. Great storytelling there.
The final scenes of them watching Akane shoot Kasei, and of her being incarcerated while Ko is let free at the same time...the way Akane falls to the floor sobbing while Ko declares that he will set her free? Those moments are going to live in my head rent free for a long time.
I'm tempted to go and get a premium crunchyroll membership just so that I can watch Season 3 in English dub. Doesn't look like First Inspector is done yet, but hopefully here soon.
Okay, last set of thoughts and then I'm done for the moment.
Every character, from SIbyl to Ko to Gino to Mika, to even Saiga, seemed to put Akane on a pedestal. They commend her for her clear hue, for her sense of justice and morailty, her determination, and on and on. And I think it's interesting, because even after she shoots Kasei at the end, it's clear that those feelings do not change. Akane is not perfect, but she is willing to put everything before her sense of justice, and it makes her very compellig and powerful.
I'll probably do a deeper dive on Akane and Psycho-Pass in general at a later date, but for the moment it's almost midnight and I am tired. But thank you for reading my thought-spew. I'll get to a more polished version eventually.

Note
Personally I don’t feel like Akane will be lonely anymore after PPFI.She has a good support system in place. She’s Mika’s aide, who despite their differences has Akane’s best interest as heart.Arata,Kei,Hinakawa are good people. While Shizuka’s motives are unknown I do believe he’s not a bad guy.Akane had the power and influence to plant inspectors in Div 1 so that should tell you something.Sybil still likes her and regards her highly.Maybe she will be a behind the scene force and her role won’t be as public as before but yeah like I said things don’t look bad for her anymore.Despite her career suicide I think PPFI ends in a hopeful note for her.The law was still likely abolished but I have faith she’ll be in a position to reform the system.I don’t share the same optimism for Kougami.Don’t get me wrong FA is cool as hell. But they most certainly recruited Kougami for his capacity for violence.Idk what his objective of returning to Japan is.Here’s the thing Shiotani said something that stayed with me.“Tonami is a decayed Kougami and disillusioned Akane.Tonami is what Kougami becomes without his stopper(Akane)to stop him”So after Saiga we get our second warning what might become of Kougami if he keeps doing what he’s doing.(He’s doing what only supposedly only he can do,that is beating people to a pulp.Gino literally fought Kei to save him from Kougami because kougami would permanently disable him.Like fuck this guy). He’s a SAD employee. It’s not under Akane’s jurisdiction to stop him from killing.Imo?His role ended after SS3.What is he supposed to do now?Sure he hates the system but what can he do about it?Nothing. So he’ll probably be reduced to background cast who pops up occasionally for fanservice.Despite my despair about the ship I am hopeful about the way things ended for Akane.Kougami is a total lost cause to me.Both in terms of charecter and future development.Because Akane’s development happened over years and 1 season and 2 movies.Kougami is stuck. And in the new installlment the legacy cast will take over again so there’s almost no room for his development anymore.Like I said I have faith in Akane and the team seems to have good plan for her(unlike Kougami)
Holy crap! You and I are writing a dissertation on Psycho-Pass here on Tumblr. I don't know! I think Akane is pretty lonely in her point of view, in her life, in her heart of hearts. She's not a criminal, but she doesn't support the system. She's in a position where she will seem crazy to most people (the detective that went mad) and the only person who could probably understand her was probably Saiga and now he's gone.
About Kogami...yes, you're right. It's like he learns the lesson and forgets it the next day. He's the milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard with guns, shooting, killing and violence. They won't develop him beyond that because they don't want to touch his bad boy image, despite him not being a mindless violent idiot on season 1. He was more strategic and realistic: if you're a detective, you'll have to risk your life.
He had lessons to teach Akane. Now he's just a stubborn mule used and abused as a tool. What was that whole conversation with Hanashiro in SS3? What did he learn? My boy is so lost, he needs to get married to Akane and be a househusband. His future right now is so bleak and depressing. What happens when his body gives out? They'll send him to be an enforcer again? He's been shot, stabbed, spat at, punched, scratched and bitten. He can only last so long with that crazy lifestyle.
Even if he's a pessimist, Akane had given him a reason to be a detective since S1: protect people. What's his purpose for living now? He doesn't have revenge or justice or love. He didn't gain any wisdom and he went through so much pain for nothing. I hope at least he has Gino as a friend and he can get some support through him.

Thoughts on relationships in PP
Baby's first post on tumblr. But also there's no one here so I can safely yell in the the void. Basically my 'do I ship it or not' list because I'm just a filthy shipper. Anyway.
(btw when I say 'relationship' I mean it in a general sense)
Kougami Gino Yeah this one is popular in jp, they are like 80% of all the doujins I've seen T_T but I get it. Childhood friends to colleagues to 'enemies' (with the lovely angsty flavour of 'his descent into latent criminalhood was a betrayal to me') to 'he's dead to me (but I still care)' to 'we know each other so well we just call each other out on bullshit freely now (but also are back working as colleagues who respect each other for the most part)' (damn now I see why it's shipped) but for me…..I prefer them without the shipping lens Verdict: friends/gen
Gino Mika Ah yes my 50/50. Do I love their little interactions? Plenty. In fact they give us so much little little Gino Mika scenes it's hard to not want to see more of them. Gino is the guy who deals with Mika like it's a given. Mika seems to prefer getting in on what SAD is up to via Gino (probably coz she knows him best, as they worked together) - given she can't stand Frede lmao and seems to not want to touch Kougami with a 10 foot pole. Also between Gino and Sugo Gino is the obvious choice. But I also like them as a big bro/senpai looking out for lil sis/kouhai sort of thing. So. Bothbothisgood.jpg Verdict: 50/50 ship and gen/platonic. Will take either way
Kougami Shion It's very very hc territory but I would be very very interested in FWBs KouShion, just sayin Verdict: fwb only (but I will eat that shit up)
Kougami Sasayama This is only here because I saw some doujin of them lmao But Sasayama had to have some serious impact on Kou's life to make him this mad about him being killed my Makishima. I like to think the suave punk Sasayama took baby Inspector Kougami under his wing and they bonded over manly things like booze and criminal catching. But yeah don't really see it as a romantic thing. Verdict: gen
Kougami Makishima Dgmw after that slightly homoerotic fight in S1 and the fact the series opens with them facing off each other in a way I know will have my fujo homies sitting up, despite that I still just see them as a good (anti-)hero vs villian with nothing deeper to it.
Verdict: don't ship
Kougami Frederica Honeslty I like to think they're colleagues who respect each other and in a way mirror each other (Gino even says she's a female kougami) but part of me won't mind if they hooked up in SS3, coz she's a hot woman in his house and he's just a man with needs
Verdict: don't ship ship but if it's on the table in a very specific flavour I will partake
Gino Akane What can I say, I'm a Gino fan especially with how much he's developed over the seasons, and those scenes of him staunchly showing his loyalty to Akane (esp the end scene in ppm and that Mika conversation scene in S3 that I've rewatched 10 million times) have me by the balls, but at the end of the day subordinate loyalty is a trope that gets me like no other (especially given they were equals to start and now she's his superior, you can't write this any better) but also one I enjoy in gen sometimes and this is one of those times.
Verdict: platonic loyalty only
Kei/arata (+ Maiko) Okay. These guys are like, 100% shippable, right? I mean the whole 'don't go where I can't hold your rope' thing, the fact that Arata 'holds' Kei's 'social' rope in the same way Kei hold's Arata's 'mental' rope, the way they go all the way back as childhood friends, bonding over shared trauma of loss of loved ones. S3/FI did a great job at creating tension within their relationship with their falling out over Maiko's involvement with Heaven's Leap and Kei hiding his Bifrost Inspector shenanigans from Arata and Maiko. Which brings me to Maiko. She is as much a part of the trio as they are a duo at work. Maiko's friendship with Arata just feels pure, and Arata doesn't feel like a third wheel hanging out with them. We know from that real badass scene in Heaven's Leap she isn't a damsel in distress. So while Kei and Arata are just asking to be shipped, because Maiko is lovely and also a badass, I adore the trio as a unit, she's a part of them, rather than a competitor. It's a really well-written relationship triangulation and I adore it.
Verdict: love them as friends, the brot3 trio.
Irie Mao Ngl their whole thing in FI was kind of cute. I just want them to go on a nice Enforcer-friendly date or something. (God the more I delve into parallel media the more I love Irie, to think I thought he was just some thug at the start)(anyway random Irie love over)
Irie Oishi The manga/novels really highlighted this relationship in a way that wasn't showcased in the anime. Irie was like a charismatic gang leader in the slums and Oishi looked up to him and felt betrayed when he left. Angsty shit, love it. But on the whole I see it as more of a brotherhood thing. Verdict: gen
Hinakawa Akane Little bro smitten with big sis, loyal to a fault. Again, the loyalty thing grabs me and refuses to let go. (Then I read the interview that said Sho was a bit of a siscon lmao)(still love him though, my lil druggie) But also I love the way Hinakawa strikes me as the kind of guy who likes to stay out of trouble (for the most part) but for Akane he will bend the rules (speaking to her through an illegal channel in S3 to give her updates).
Verdict: lil bro/big sis with or without the 'complex'
Gino Sugo Dont really ship it. But it's okay.
SAD 3+1 Most fav dynamic ever, love them to bits. 1000% need a spin off (the little omakes in the S3 manga gave me so much life istg) Verdict: LOVE (but also gen)
Division 1 found family-ness The best thing about pp
Frede Mika Fremenies with begrudging respect for one another. Kind of love it. Can't wait to see Mika's face when Frede 'poaches' Akane for the SAD Verdict: gen
Kunikara My og pp ship, way before I fell for ka I think they should get married and buy a cosy little apartment together and have a cavoodle doggo named Finn Verdict: SHIP 100000%
Shizuka Akane
A wildcard if I ever saw one. Firstly, they just look good together. Like Sybil would've matched them or something. But also Shizuka is just an enigma, I can't quite put a finger on him yet (the only thing I know about him is he lives to win, and has an interest in Akane's wellbeing for unspecified reasons.) I hope they reveal more about him in later seasons - he's a bit of a blank slate at the moment, a pluripotent little stem cell with a million ways of potential. He doesn't quite have the history that Akane shares with Kougami or even Gino, but there's enough in the crumbs we got from s3/FI to keep me hopeful.
Verdict: kind of ship but also an 'on probation' ship
Kougami Akane Ah, saving the best for last. Where do I even begin? At the start, when I was a wee 10yearsago-me watching PP1 for the first time, I was sucked into their dynamic. Something stirred, but it wasn't entirely a 'I want them to be together romantically'. It was a second, difficult to define, thing, borne of seeing the amount of trust and respect they had in each other. But also, somehow, somehow, I cannot imagine them sailing off into the sunset together. Like there is just no way. But also I desperately want to see it happen. I call this my Schrodinger's ship because I ship them and can't ship them at the same time. They have a lot of history and that in itself is enough to give me feelings, but I am left feeling conflicted about it. Like I know the creators are not going to remotely hint at any sort of romance with them and that's fine, that's not what PP is all about anyway. But still. They are just. So frustrating in they way they make me feel about them. ~~it's like emotional edging, help me~~ But also I will devour any fic, art, fanwork of them being romantically together or being that elusive third thing - not quite lovers but more than friends - in fact if anything, maybe the third thing is what I really wanted them to be all along.
Verdict: it's complicated (but also yes)
Wow looking at this list it looks like I'm more of a gen relationships person after all lol. Anyway it's all good fun. Sometimes gen is nice too. I will still be here for kouaka or whatever they want to be to each other. It's a private matter between adults after all

Psycho-pass Movie Novel Chapter 4, part 1
Finally the first part of chapter 4 is done. At the first lines, I had looked at it as a little boring but I was proved wrong. These are the main subjects:
Section 1: A conversation between Gino and Shimotsuki, showing an unexpected side of her. (I liked it a lot!)
Section 2: Akane’s trip on the plane. THIS PART IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE MOVIE.
An interesting fact: As I didn’t remember well how the scene set on the plane was displayed in the movie, I watched it again.
In the movie, while Akane is on the plane, some scenes belonging to chapter 3 of the book appear as flashback images in her mind.
The first image is the conversation with Saiga about the power of will and actions that forge a person’s destiny, set at the prison.
The second image is the conversation Akane holds with Chief Kasei about Shambala float knowing or not Sibyls true identity, set when Akane ask for her the permission to go to SEAUn.
So…what happens on the plane in the book version? Read it after the stop…
Note before reading: sentences in italics represent the character’s thoughts.
1
Tsunemori Akane had left Japan on a jet plane of the Ministry of Defense.
— to track down Kougami Shinya.
— to find out if he had something to do with the crime*.
Ginoza Nobuchika, the enforcer who hadn’t been allowed to accompany her, was on a panoramic terrace at the Public Safety Bureau. He was looking at the city view absentmindedly, somehow sadly.
As the weather was good, the ambience holos were fully operating. An information hologram praising the Sibyl System was fluttering restlessly on the wall of a building. When not showing news, it promoted goods to keep a good hue. Tons of advertisement — newly developed supplements, newly developed diagnostic apps*, the most advanced design accessories to take care of the hues around. To make your colour clear. Well, I also desperately tried to keep my hue in the past…Ginoza mocked himself.
“She’s left, eh? Inspector Tsunemori”
Reached him in that place, Inspector Shimotsuki started to talk to him.
How rare for her to approach Ginoza.
“Inspector Shimotsuki, are you happy that you didn’t accompany her in the investigation abroad?”
“What? I couldn’t do anything the same”
Shimotsuki made an annoyed face.
“Besides, there are things I will have to do in the future"
“…is that so?”
“The chief allowed Inspector Tsunemori’s arbitrary actions. It’s quite clear that there’s something behind. Our chance will come soon”
“…hee”
Ginoza was secretly impressed. As expected, that’s what people call an elite inspector. She acts in her own way predicting the future.
“I’ve talked too much with you enforcer…”
Shimotsuki clack her tongue.
“You really hate the enforcers”
Once become a latent criminal, Ginoza had been ready to such a treatment. For this reason, even if Shimotsuki treated him HARSHLY*, it wasn’t a big deal.
“Not the enforcers, I can’t forgive latent criminals”
Shimotsuki’s look became stern.
“If we completely destroyed latent criminals, some people wouldn’t die”
“Can’t you forgive Kunizuka too?”
Today’s Ginoza somewhat felt like making bitchy remarks.
Just as expected, Shimotsuki turned pale.
“Why does Kunizuka-san’s name come out now?”
“Oh, I don’t know why…”
“Kunizuka-san…why a latent criminal…”
Shimotsuki heaved a sigh.
“If she was free, what kind of crime would she do?” *
Those words dag into Ginoza too.
If I went free, what kind of crime would I do?
(No, not only me)
Father? Kougami? Shūsei Kagari?
— Everybody, why were they latent criminals?
Shimotsuki went on.
“Kunizuka-san, she has a high regard for Inspector Tsunemori”
“…yes, she has”
“I failed”
Shimotsuki said biting her lips.
“Becoming an amazing inspector, handling the enforcers well, arresting the criminals who go out of Sibyl System’s framework one after the other…even though that was my only goal…”
“…”
“I wonder why it ended up like this…I do nothing but go wrong…”
Then she dropped her gaze.
The current Shimotsuki was different from her usual self, just because of a slight blow, she looked like a balloon on the verge of bursting.
She resembles me, Ginoza thought.
(I was always annoyed too)
‘Why can’t I do like him?’ I used to think.*
However, in spite of the similarities, there was a crucial difference between the Ginoza from his inspector days and Inspector Shimotsuki.
Experience. Having or not having experience.
Ginoza and Kougami had the experience of having known each other from the university days. For this reason, even if the antagonism inside the Public Safety Bureau had gotten deeper, there was barely enough sense of trust (maybe the Ginoza of those days would have never admitted). Whereas in Shimotsuki’s case, Tsunemori Akane was close to a ‘wall appeared out of nowhere’*.
“During my studies, my best friend was killed. It seems that somehow the perpetrator disappeared at the hands of the mastermind who worked out the plan…”
“I know. We were in charge of the case”
“The ‘Makishima case’ …the Public Safety Bureau’s most secret affair. When I became an inspector, I could finally get close to that case, if only a little. However, I can’t say that I’ve grasped everything yet”
“There’s something you’d like to say?”
“Kougami Shinya, what kind of person is he?”
“…”
“Both Inspector Tsunemori and Ginoza-san seem to be affected by that man even now”
“We are not affected”
“Though she flew overseas in great haste? Ginoza-san also applied instantly for the permission to accompany her. Only, the permission was rejected. That’s what I’d call ‘be affected’ ”
“Kougami, uh…?”
After some thought, Ginoza answered.
“He is a ‘Citizen Kane’*”
“…yes?”
“In my dead father’s belongings, there was a database with a great number of movies. Only old, not hologram-supported movies. In idle moments, I check them. The last time, I saw that one called ‘Citizen Kane’ ”
“I know it. Orson Wells”
“…”
“Despite appearances, I had the best grades in the prestigious Ousou Academy. Don’t make little of me” Shimotsuki frowned at him.
“…I see”
“Nowadays, they uncommonly study classics there. The masterpieces among literature and movies based on literary works.  From Shakespeare to Tanizaki Junichirou*. Within the limits allowed by Sibyl System”
Shimotsuki went on.
“The newspaper magnate Kane dies in his mansion. With his last breath, Kane leaves a word with a hidden meaning, ‘Rosebud’. To solve the mystery of this word, the protagonist goes round visiting the people who were close to Kane”
Ginoza nodded.
“It’s that Citizen Kane”
“How is Kougami Shinya related to that?”
“Citizen Kane is the central figure of the movie. However, he dies just after the beginning. Despite his death, Citizen Kane keeps on being the main character for all the movie”
“Aha…”
“Now, everything about Kougami Shinya is a ‘rosebud’ *”
“Anyway, the mystery around that word was revealed* in the movie”
“What did you get from it?”
Ginoza asked.
“It was a sad ending” Shimotsuki said. “Common at the times when Sibyl System still didn’t exist, the vacuity of human life”
“Tsunemori may  be struggling with such a vacuity just right now”
“Are you saying that the mystery about ‘Rosebud’ may be solved overseas?”
“Yes, just like that”
Shimotsuki breathed out deeply and shrugged her shoulders.
“Or rather, Tsunemori senpai can’t really read the situation…”
“Is it so?”
“Sometimes, it’s her demeanor. There are times when she compares the old Division 1 with the present one”
“…!” Ginoza gasped unconsciously.
“Don’t you think so? I feel like my senior neglects the current Division 1. For this reason, she flies away without even consulting with us all. Whoosh*”
“…”
I guess that’s not Tsunemori’s intention, Ginoza thought.
However — Shimotsuki is sharp, I can’t but admit it.
There’s no meaning in evading the matter this way.
Even if it was unconscious, there may have been such an intention in Tsunemori.
For me, for her — at the end he’s still such a big presence.
Kougami Shinya.
To cut him off, should we meet him one more time?
“Well, it’s all right the same…”
“In the end, I feel like I’ve understood you a little more, Inspector Shimotsuki”
“Ah?”
She openly showed an unpleased face.
“An enforcer who says he understands me. You’re kidding me, stupid”
 2
On board the transport jet airplane, the crew space was bare.
As it wasn’t a civilian airplane, the design of both seatbelts and seats was quite rough, taking into account the practical use. In a cabin where there was no one else than her, Tsunemori was sitting alone with a firm look. After some time, the loadmaster Tanohata approached her.
“Well, the reason is that, even if we call it Air Force, it’s essentially an unmanned armed force. It’s been a while since we normally took living guests on board”
Tanohata checked the amount of loaded fuel, the weight of the cargo and the flight plan with his own portable terminal.
“Nothing anomalous” he informed the pilot.
At the driving seats of the transport jet plane there were one human pilot and one drone. The drone pilot dealt entirely with the complex operations. On the front seat, Tanohata also fastened his seatbelt. A loadmaster on a government plane also serves as a flight attendant. The transport plane started to move. From the apron, it headed for the airstrip at low speed. The pilots and the unmanned air traffic control system exchanged information, the road was clear. Moving on the strip, it picked up speed. After a sudden sensation like the internal organs had been forcefully pulled, she understood that the airplane was floating in the air*.  After the takeoff, the speed quickly increased again. At almost the same timing, two unmanned fighters took off to escort the transport plane carrying Tsunemori.
Shortly after, the signal to keep the seatbelts fastened was turned off.
“It’s already ok” Leaving his seat, Tanohata stood up.
“…” Tsunemori also unfastened her seatbelt.
Freed his body, Tanohata opened the upper luggage rack and pulled out an alloy case. He carried it close to Tsunemori.
“Here you are, the case opens with your biometric authentication, Inspector Tsunemori”
“…?”
Tsunemori received the case in her hands. Just as Tanohata had said, the case was unlocked through the vein pattern and the voiceprint. Inside of that, a gun.
A custom Government* —  an original Colt Government. A weapon developed more than 200 years ago. In addition, a box of 45-caliber ammunition and four spare magazines* were included in the case.
At the Public Safety Bureau, firearms besides the dominator are rarely  used. As for the territory inside Japan, 90% of the gunpowder weapons have been disposed of. The world’s period of chaos and the development of electromagnetic weaponry  — piling up the two main causes, the gunpowder weapons design and performance have been stagnating for a period close to 70 years. I heard that for this reason a weapon whose production started 100 years ago is normally being used overseas even now.
“Are you uneasy in using a gun different from a dominator?” Tanohata asked.
Surely a dominator is, by far, more performant than a regular weapon. The ‘effective range’ of the lethal electromagnetic waves is wide. The effective range of a bullet tends, by all means, to be ‘a point’ but a dominator is different. It overpowers the opponents with the width of its ‘field of action’.
“It’s an old gun indeed, don’t you think?”
“However, a 45 caliber has its stability. It’s hard to break down in whatever harsh circumstance. Sure is that it’s been entirely restored with contemporary part and it can also operate together with a  holographic aiming device”
“Huh…”
Tsunemori took the custom Government in her hand and pushed the magazine catch*. After checking that the magazine was not inserted, she pulled the slide* and peeked in the chamber*. The chamber was empty too. She pushed the slide stop, a blank shot. To test the feel of the trigger. She had prepared herself in handling a gun before leaving Japan.
“Could it be that you have already used it at the Ministry of Defense? The dominator…”
“It’s not for portable use. It’s provided on the drones. Look, talk of the devil…” Tanohata pointed at the window of the transport plane.
When Tsunemori pressed a finger on the touch panel near the window, a holographic screen appeared and she could check the situation outside. The transport plane was already flying over the sea. In the sea below, some things like black spots were moving, tracing white wakes in the waves.
Tsunemori enlarged the camera view through the touch panel and made sure of the real nature of those things.
The black spots were ships.
“Those…”
“They are the naval forces constituting the national borders defense system of the Ministry of Defense”
“Are they fighting?”
“The opponents are refugees. They head for Japan…the one and only normal country in the world”
On the sea, six smuggling ships modified from large-sized fishing boats. However, the way to their destination had been barred by the unmanned frigates of Japan’s government naval forces. The unmanned frigates kept saying in the language of several countries ‘Japan’s coastline is blocked. The people who wish to enter the country are required to get past customs through the regular procedure’.
And yet, the refugees’ boats were trying to violate the territorial waters threading their way through the gaps.
The frigates sniped at the illegal immigrants with special dominators mounted on gun turrets*. They detected the people with a high crime coefficient and blew them up showering them with lethal electromagnetic waves. Blown up through a lethal ‘warning’, the common refugees lost their fighting spirit. Panicked, they turned the bow and backtracked. The frigates shot the refugees’ ships which didn’t change course at all with machine guns, as it couldn’t be helped. Going up in flames straightaway, the refugees ships blew up and sank.
“Our home waters are always like this. Even if they get through by good luck, the coastline defense forces are much more unrelenting”
“It’s horrible…”
“They measure the crime coefficient precisely. There also are people with a low crime coefficient among the refugees. In that case they aid them for sure”
“But…”
“If they didn’t act this way, it would be dangerous. Even the peaceful life you have lived is all thanks to this sort of severe activity”
 NOTES TO TRANSLATION:
*the crime: the terrorists sent to Japan.
*diagnostic apps: applications (on electronic devices) for diagnostic purpose, probably hue diagnostic.
*HARSHLY: I wrote it in capital letters because in the book this sentence is written with dots above the kanjis to underline it.
* If she was free, what kind of crime would she do? : Shimotsuki is wondering how Kunizuka could be of some harm to anyone if she was freed, she doesn’t understand why she’s a latent criminal.
*’Why can’t I do like him?’ I used to think: In this part, Ginoza sees himself in Shimotsuki, he remembers how he always looked at Kougami, wondering why he couldn’t do things well like Kougami did.
*a wall appeared out of nowhere: it seems the author likes to stress Akane’s self-isolation. It’s stated in the former chapters that Akane scarcely meets with friends because she doesn’t want them to get involved in something bad; Gino says her ‘you’re a mistery as always’ and now this thing of the wall. It really seems like she doesn’t let anyone get close anymore, Ginoza included. I have always wondered what kind of interaction Gino and Akane have. He surely trusts and admires her and she knows how he always worries for the others, but it seems that Akane has a wall that keeps her far from the others and from Gino too. JUST A PERSONAL THOUGHT ANYWAY. That’s what I feel when I read parts like this.
*Citizen Kane: it’s a 1941 American mystery drama film by Orson Welles, its producer, co-screenwriter, director and star.
Plot: In a rich mansion, the elderly Charles Foster Kane is on his deathbed. Holding a snow globe, he utters a word, “Rosebud”, and dies; the globe slips from his hand and smashes on the floor. A newsreel obituary tells the life story of Kane, an enormously wealthy newspaper publisher. Kane’s death becomes sensational news around the world, and the newsreel’s producer tasks a reporter with discovering the meaning of “Rosebud”. The reporter sets out to interview Kane’s friends and associates. Kane’s life is narrated through these interviews, but nothing about ‘rosebud’ comes out. At the end of the movie, back at the mansion, Kane’s belongings are being cataloged or discarded. The reporter concludes that he is unable to solve the mystery and that the meaning of Kane’s last word will forever remain an enigma. In the last scene, the camera reveals that “Rosebud” is the trade name of the sled on which the eight-year-old Kane was playing on the day that he was taken from his home in Colorado. Thought to be junk by the mansion’s staff, the sled is burned in a furnace.
*Tanizaki Junichirou: (谷崎 潤一郎, Tanizaki Jun'ichiro, 24 July 1886 – 30 July 1965) was one of the major writers of modern Japanese literature, and perhaps the most popular Japanese novelist after Natsume Sōseki. Some of his works present a shocking world of sexuality and destructive erotic obsessions. (  (O_O) is this the kind of things taught in Ousou Academy???) Others, less sensational, subtly portray the dynamics of family life in the context of the rapid changes in 20th-century Japanese society. Frequently his stories are narrated in the context of a search for cultural identity in which constructions of “the West” and “Japanese tradition” are juxtaposed.
He was one of six authors on the final shortlist for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1964, but his death the following year meant he was not considered the following years.
*everything related to Kougami Shinya is a rosebud: in this sentence, Gino means that everything related to Kougami Shinya is a mistery.
*the mystery around that word was revealed: I translated as the mystery was revealed and not solved, because in that movie, the journalist who was in charge of discovering the truth about Rosebud didn’t reach the truth. The camera finally revealed what Rosebud was in the last scene.
* Whoosh: this is an onomatopoeia for the sound of fast motion, running very fast. It’s Mika who imitates the plane flying away.
*After a sudden sensation like the internal organs had been forcefully pulled, she understood that the airplane was floating in the air: this is cute. It seems the description of a child flying on a plane for the first time. Well, this may really be the first flight for Akane.
*custom Government: it’s a model of Colt gun.
*magazine: A magazine is an ammunition storage and feeding device within or attached to a repeating firearm. Magazines can be removable (detachable) or integral to the firearm. The magazine functions by moving the cartridges stored in the magazine into a position where they may be loaded into the chamber by the action of the firearm. The detachable magazine is often referred to as a clip, although this is technically inaccurate. (from Wikipedia)
*magazine catch: it’s a mechanism installed on guns and automatic rifles that serves to remove the cartridge from the weapon.
*slide: see picture below.
Tumblr media
*chamber:
In firearms, the chamber is the portion of the barrel or firing cylinder in which the cartridge is inserted before being fired. Rifles and pistols generally have a single chamber in their barrels, while revolvers have multiple chambers in their cylinders and no chamber in their barrel. Thus rifles and pistols can usually be fired even with a detached magazine, while a revolver cannot be fired with its cylinder swung out. The act of chambering a cartridge means the insertion of a round into the chamber, either manually or through the action of the weapon.
Tumblr media
*gun turrets: A gun turret is a location from which weapons can be fired that affords protection, visibility, and some cone of fire. A modern gun turret is generally a weapon mount that houses the crew or mechanism of a projectile-firing weapon and at the same time lets the weapon be aimed and fired in some degree of azimuth and elevation (cone of fire).

Frederica and Homura as potential love interests?
Ok, before writing this post, I must admit that this thought has been wandering in my mind for some time and I will do my best to be as analytical as I can in the explanation. First of all, I've truly and wholeheartedly supported Shinkane since season 1 and I am sure that before or after, they will be endgame (in Psycho Pass' meaning, well... offscreen if we're lucky enough), so this post is just an attempt to see what is happening.
Let's make a premise: PP3, among all the seasons of PP, is the one that addressed romance in a more evident way, somehow. Not that it is a priority and it's fair as it is, since the focus of the series is basically human nature and its reaction to a world dominated by AI, but among the three seasons, PP3 caressed the topic. Not that it wasn't already addressed in the previous installments (Shion and Yayoi, Kaori's wedding, Akane's growing fascination, and not-so-well-hidden attraction and love for Kougami, Mika and her schoolmate, just to say), but starting with Sinners of the System, something else happened. Masaoka and Sae, Sugo and his friend's wife (tell me whatever, but he seemed to care a little bit too much and I found something similar in Arata's behavior towards Maiko)... and in season 3, the already mentioned Arata, both with Maiko (the hospital scene) and Karina, but also with Irie and Mao (I loved the whole music box scene) and Mao *not-so-well-hidden* fancying Kei. Did I mention the brief and glorious Shinkane's scenes? The cherry blossoms in First Inspector screamed "LOVE" in caps lock.
Well, ladies first, so let's talk about the mysterious and glamorous agent of the SAD: Hanashiro Frederica. When her character was revealed, all of us (or at least, the majority) thought that she could be a potential threat or a possible enemy. So far, it seems that apart from bigger fanservice than all the girls in PP, a still-secret agenda, and the fact that she managed to recruit Kougami, Gino and Sugo in her team (as well as granting them some privileges), there isn't any evidence that she could be an enemy. Yes, the whole Ministry of Foreign Affairs/SAD goals and mission aren't clear, that's why I hope we might get PP4 or a dedicated special, in order to understand more about them and her apparently personal motivations too. Now... thanks to the lovely @kumapillow who kindly translated the SAD extra chapter, something made me wonder. I already said in another post that Frederica seems to have a soft spot for Kougami. Just a few words about Kougami. So far, with the exception of the novels, where his feelings are clearer, he's never shown particular interest in women (or relationships in general). In the profiling book, it's said that he doesn't remember his first love, but it's also said that he would let Sybil choose for him once the time comes, until the movie updated version when it's said that his favorite type of girl is a companion who can keep up a conversation. Considering that in season 1 he was revenge-driven and Makishima-absorbed, romance was practically out of question (also, if we consider that he's been a workaholic since he was an Inspector, I'm not this impressed if he never had a proper relationship). Complete silence in season 2, then in the movies he said that wherever he goes, he's punctually involved in some conflict, aka... no time for romance again (for ghost!Makishima's joy). I read sometimes that the fact that he declined Shion's advances in episode 18 with the sentence "I don't think we are each others' type" was eloquent about his sexuality, since he probably is gay or bi, at least. I don't think he is, but simply, being the kind person he is, Kougami just found a colloquial way to remember Shion where her heart truly laid (and in the novel, it's more obvious). No surprise, during the fight against Rutaganda, when the mercenary said that listening to Kougami made him happy like he was listening to some Wagner's piéce, Kougami promptly answers that he could have rather listened to those words from a glamorous beauty than from him (he used the word "bijin" there). I won't mention all the Shinkane subtle of the movie, but it was truly obvious how things had changed for Akane and Kougami and what could have been happened if the mercenaries hadn't come. Case 3 shows that his relationship with the fair sex still hasn't progressed this much... though I LOVED Kougami's interactions with Tenzing and the teasing of the little girl who said that he reminded her of her dad (ok, that's progress, since in a radio drama both he and Gino made a small child crying because of their idiocy) and I headcanon that in the years past Case 3 Kou had some chances to hear back from Tenzing (because of MoFA and Frederica's care), when it comes to the blonde colleague... I guess that things haven't changed this much. Now, so far, Kougami has NEVER shown any sign of reciprocating Frederica's possible feelings, but it seems that he's the only one who knows how to cheer her up or to understand her. Coming back to Frederica, after this digression, that's the core: she technically has all the qualities Kougami would possibly need. She's a glamorous beauty (hello there, reference to the gekijouban). She's a companion who could keep up a conversation. This point is trickier, because the conversation under the moonlight (now that it comes to my mind, it was also said that if he ever had to set a date, he would probably talk about work or taking somebody to stargaze), which largely reminds me of his conversation with Akane in the movie (I'm talking about the structure of the scene in general), shows that
Frederica too is perfectly able to lecture Kougami and pull the shits out of him about his true motives for keeping on traveling, she's been interested in him since the lessons with professor Saiga, but also... the fact that she mentioned his mother, I think was some kind of a rehash of the novel version of the conversation between Akane and Kou. I was under the impression that Ubukata and Shiotani were trying to test the waters... Also, Frederica is a skilled fighter, she has a no-nonsense attitude and she's pretty harsh in what she says, but she's also friendly, humorous, and caring (the days they spent together with Tenzing). Then the renowned scene of the two of them making the deal... ok, I need to admit that in the beginning, I didn't see it as malicious, neither I do it now, but... mhhh... sharing the same bottle of water to make a deal... well... kinda intimate, right? Not that Kougami made a fuss, but Frederica was... pleased? After all, she didn't do any of this with Sugo (also, her approach to him was more formal) and we still don't know how she recruited Gino (I think it happened because of Kougami, after Akane's demotion)... I don't know, but it seems to me that her approach toward Kougami (at least in Case 3 and in the manga extras) is more personal... after all, when she approached him the first time, she was quite intrigued, since she wanted to take a look at the face of a celebrity like him (all said while pleasantly smiling). The extra chapter shows that while Gino and Sugo's efforts to help their chief were wasted (not for us who read), only Kougami's proposal was well received by her. Shooting like in a guerrilla field... after all, Frederica is a tough one (just like Akane) and Kougami knows it very well... like Gino adds at the end, she's definitely a female version of him, but she also is somebody able to kick Kou's glorious ass (just like Akane). Now, time will say where the truth is, but I feel like that if Ubukata and Shiotani keep on following the route "there's a deep respect and a bond which goes beyond love and romance between Shinkane... and also Kougami doesn't see Akane in that way", and instead they choose to spice things up (but I don't think so) Frederica might be the one chosen. Luckily enough, our dear former Enforcer seems to have chosen the celibate warrior monk route, but I'm still sure that things can change and in the end, the most natural outcome will be Shinkane. Well... since the post has become longer than I expected, I'll write another time of Shizuka and Akane, but thanks for reading until now!

Enforcer! Ginoza Nobuchika X female reader [NF NSFW]
~Your point of view~
It was time to roll out. A high crime coefficient was picked up by the scanners and we were to deal with it. The van which we enforcers were seated in started to move, driving towards our destination. I stare in front of me, looking down at the trucks floor. On my right sat Ginoza and my left was Karin. I sigh and look at the other three in front of me. I was new but it was already my tenth time out on the field. The inside of the truck was silent until we arrived.
The truck comes to a stop and the back opens with a sound like when you open a can of coke. Ginoza stands up and walks out, I follow after him with Karin behind me and the other two. I follow Ginoza to Akane, as we stand around her. Mika looked us over again like always and seeming to scoff at seeing me. For some odd reason she never did like me but I never knew why. Maybe I had done something to her, maybe she just plainly didn't like me. But all I know is that she hated me for being below her. It wasn't my fault I was given this option or be locked in a cell for the rest of my life. Not everyone can control what the Sibyl labels them as. Ginoza looks calmly over at them with his grey steel eyes.
"We have a high crime coefficient alert. The street scanners tracked him as he ran off into this building block." My mind wanders, this sounded exactly like my first time on the field. I look around at the people I'm working with. Eyes stalling on my boyfriend Ginoza. His black hair tied back was slightly messy, his silver eyes were sharp and cold as he took in the information Akane was saying. Even his clothing fitted him well.
They all lift their wrists up looking at the small screen to see who our target was. Of course I wasn't paying attention but all I basically had to do was follow the detonators. It was a sad way of life if normal people actual thought of it, chained to something that is ultimately trapping them.
We all lived by the system, telling us the best way to be happy and how we could live a fulfilled life. Does anyone really think that we are having a life? "Let's move out!" Akane orders.
"(Y/n) follow behind me." Ginoza states, running after Akane as the others go to run around the building.
I could almost sigh in relief at being on Ginoza team. I start to laugh at the mere thought before Ginoza gives me a small glare as we follow in after Akane. I roll my eyes and direct the denominator around me, seeing if anyone was there. A voice comes from Akane's earpiece, "Shepard 2 to Shepard 1, we found the criminal, what do you want us to do now?"
"Send us your location and we'll trap him before shooting him. Stay out of sight." Akane orders, her tone different than when we are back at the office. She changes directions and runs to the left of the t-junction, heading towards the other group. Ginoza and I just stayed by her side, our denominators pointing down every ally in case another latent criminal was there.
"Keep it up (y/n), your doing a great job so far." Ginoza praises as we finally reach the other group, we crouch behind some random items, Akane behind two barrels, Ginoza behind a pile of steel beams and myself behind the corner of the wall.
"Shepard 1 to Shepard 2," Akane states in a whispered tone to her bracelet, "We are in position."
I move up to Ginoza hiding behind the beams for a better sighting. "We have a hostage situation, we'll end up shooting both of them." Ginoza mutters looking a head of him where in the distance the shaking figure of a man can be seen with a more crouched figure on the floor.
"Mmm." I hum, thinking about the different ways we can take it. "We can't afford any rash decisions or the hostage will be put at risk."
Akane stayed behind us listening as we conversed the different tactics, repeating our ideas to the other team. "Shepard 2 to Hound 6." I almost jumped at the sudden interest the new inspector was taking in me. "I need you to silently get behind the criminal and shoot, making sure to leave the hostage alone unless the denominator says so." It was ordered of me.
I tch, this was a bad idea. If I as much as reveal myself away from here than we all are revealed meaning he knows our positions. "Yes ma'am." I say, ending my end of the call, "Akane, Gino, is it a good idea?" I ask, wanting to confirm my suspicions.
"They can't shoot from where they are, either they have been revealed or their in an awkward spot." Akane states, thinking through as well, "Do it."
I narrow my eyes, this guy was dangerous, his crime coefficient was crazy high and I was being sent in alone. "Stay safe, I'll cover you." Ginoza whispers, patting my back. I just nod my head, trying to ignore the heat rising to my face. I was acting very unprofessional for something I'm just about to do.
I sneak along the wall, pointing my denominator at him, waiting for him to be within range. "Crime coefficient 326, weapon recalculating, lethal denominator being used." Damn, I really hated using lethal denominator, I was fine shooting but I had a weak stomach when it came to seeing them explode like that.
"Aim carefully and pull the trigger." The robotic voice of the system spoke. I take a shaky breath, his guy was insane, nothing was going to help him on. I squeeze the trigger and let it shoot the guy, the deadly energy used running from his middle back upwards, expanding the skin and muscles outwards until they exploded, covering the hostage and the walls with pieces of himself. His lover half sunk to the floor as the hostage cry's out.
A young boy. A young boy had been taken hostage, I really hope his coefficient wasn't too high, nor his hue clouded. I hear the footsteps of Ginoza and Akane running up behind me but before they can reach me I sprint forwards to the young boy, his cries reminding me so much like my younger brother's.
I read the small figure curled upon the ground covered in blood and kneel. I look forward and just see the other team up higher, no wonder they sent one of us in cause the angle was too much. I shrug my jacket off and take the handkerchief I always have on me out of one of the pockets. I lean over the boy and start to wipe his face clean of blood not bothering to check his crime coefficient.
"Hey shhh. Little one." I mutter, dropping the handkerchief behind me, "Your safe now." The rest of him was bloody and his (h/c) hair was mattered. The boy whimpers so I wrap him in my jacket and cradle him on my lap, rocking back and forth to calm him. "You're alright. You're safe." I mutter over and over as Ginoza comes to stand in front of me, pointing the denominator at the kid.
"Rui (l/n), crime coefficient 156, paralyzer denominator will be use." The system speaks, sending shocks through my body.
"Rui oh Rui." I mutter, "Don't worry, big sister will look after you, nothing will hurt you again." I glare up at Ginoza hoping he doesn't squeeze the trigger.
"Aim carefully and shoot the target." I quickly turn my back to Ginoza, "(y/n) (l/n), willing enforcer, paralyzer denominator will be used."
"(Y/n), I know how much this hurts but we have to do it." Ginoza states, keeping the denominator trained on me. "Your crime coefficient is climbing higher than it's been in the past, you've broken into the 300's"
"Yours did as well when you saw your father murdered, it makes sense for mine to as well!" I shout, stress and worry building up inside me. Rui started crying again so I rocked back and forth making shushing noises to quieten him down. "He's only seven for god's sake. He can't do no harm."
"That doesn't matter." It was Mika this time, her voice cold and harsh as if she had no heart.
"He's stressed and tired okay, see check again." I growl as I turn around part way, allowing the denominator to catch a hold of his coefficient.
"Crime coefficient 150, paralyzer denominator will be used." The system states, making Ginoza narrow his eyes and tighten his fingers over the trigger.
I growl lowly, “You pull that trigger and I will never forgive you.”
"I see you two have some thing to sort out." Akane finally speaks up, deciding to reach the two of us. "Now (y/n)." She addresses me, “We have to use the denominator on him.”
I stand up, clutching him against me, “No. He's my brother. I'll take the fall for him. Leave him alone!”
Akane sighs, “(y/n), you will be punished for doing this.”
“Like I care.” I shot back, “I've been locked up my whole life, no way am I allowing my brother to have that same treatment.”
“Very well then.” Akane thins her lips, “Let's go.”
I carry Rui, unable to let go of him. I lean my check against his bloody hair and hum quietly, not just for wanting him to relax and go to sleep but also for myself to calm down. “I have to return him.”
“I'm sorry (y/n) but I can't let you go to your family. They have to come to the department to collect him.” Akane apologizes from the front.
"(Y/n) I want to come with you and see your family." Ginoza suddenly speaks up as we walk back.
Akane, speaking with the other team over call ignores our conversation completely. "I'll let you return him personally.”
“Thank you Akane for letting me return him to my family." I thank.
Akane just nods as we walk forwards in comfortable silence. We regroup with the others and Akane tells them what we're going to do before the three if us piling into her car. This was easier for us as we had to go to the lobby while the others went underground. Rui fell asleep by the time we got onto the road and so I took this as a chance to ask Ginoza a question that was on my kind, "Why did you want to come?"
"I cannot reveal that just yet, you'll have to wait and see til we get there."
I scoff, "Well it's going to have to wait until I get Rui cleaned up." I state, focusing on my little brother sleeping.
Ginoza mutter something under his breath but I pay no heed, focusing on cleaning Rui up as best as I can. I could hear Akane in the background on the phone contacting the department and my parents..
The car slows to a stop, "(y/n) we're here." Akane says, opening the car door and exiting.
"Here let me carry him.' Ginoza offers, standing by the open car door. I look up from Rui and at Ginoza who patiently waited for my answer. Sighing I hand Rui over, exiting the car after Rui.
“Your parents will be here in 10 mintues.” Akane informs me as she leads us inside, her car locking and cleaning itself automatically. The lobby was the same as usual, some couches, a desk with workers and the elevator. We sit on the couch, Rui being laid down with his head on my lap and myself leaning against Gino, Akane sat across from us. “(Y/n), I fear you may be returned back behind bars.”
I furrow my eyebrows, confused as to why. “Is this because of Rui?” Akane just nods, “But it would depend on the system right?”
This time Akane shakes her head. “This is your last time on the job. After this you'll be returned because you are a threat to the system.”
“And all because I wouldn't let Rui get shot.” I sigh, it wasn't like I didn't expect this. After all, I was dangerous from the beginning. “Well, it was nice working with you Akane, and you too Gino.”
Gino didn't say anything from beside me beside putting an arm around my shoulders and bringing me in closer. Akane just hums, “It should only be for a short while, I'll see if I can get you a short time as you're a valuable asset on a case.”
I smile at her. “Thank you.”
"(y/n)!" The familiar voice of my parents reach my ears. Turning around I greet their tear stained faces.
"Mum. Dad." I stand and walk over to them, Akane trailing behind with Ginoza. "How are you?"
"Rui's missing, he was taken when he was walking home!" My mum exclaims, clinging onto my arm, "You have to find him."
"Mrs (l/N)," Akane speaks up, bowing besides me.
My parents bow in return before she next speaks, "Are you the inspector our daughter speaks of?"
Akane smiles at me so I look to the ground, not willing to agree nor confess that I had been telling my parents everything. Akane just laughs and smiles, "You have no need to worry, (y/n) found him already." Ginoza stands beside me holding Rui in his arms gently.
"Here you are, he's safe and sound asleep." Ginoza steps over to my dad and hands him over."
"Oh Rui..." My mum sighs, stroking his hair out of his face.
“Thank you, but how did you know?” Dad asks as we all take a seat, "We would also like to get to know the people working with our daughter."
Akane smiles gently, "It was (y/n)'s instincts really, before any of the detonators knew she did."
Mum smiles her knowing smile, “That was always (y/n)'s thing, being able to know who someone was after meeting them.”
Akane nods, after seeing me in the field she knew it was true. After all, too much passion puts you under lock and key.
"Your family is nice." Ginoza mutters, lost deep in thought, "I'm glad a nice family brought you up."
I chuckle and lay a hand on his shoulder, "My family is yours if you need somewhere to come to." I say, even though I know full well we can't leave the MWPSD without an inspector.
Ginoza sends me a weak smile before looking at my smiling parents talking happily with Akane., "Okay, and also when we get back meet me in my room."
"Okay." I say with a smiling, hoping that it's to say what I hope.
I can hear my mum doting over Akane, most likely hoping to make a good impression.
"Okay mum, dad." I say, focusing my attention on the two who brought me into the world. I was always happy that they still loved me after everything I had put them through. "These are my co-workers and who I hope I can call friends." I nod my head at each, "Ginoza here has been looking after me and Akane here making sure I don't fall into any trouble."
"So your the man who our daughter has spoken of so fondly, When we talk she never seems to stop talking about you." Mum exclaims, making me blush a bright red.
"Mum!!" I whine, not wanting Ginoza to find out.
"I'm glad she has someone beside her like you to look after her." My dad speaks, seeming okay with Ginoza, "But don't go breaking her heart whatever you do." He threatens.
"I can't think of such a thing, she is a good enforcer, and someone who I want working beside me." He praises, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and pulling me against his side.
Akane's bracelet starts to ring, signalling that someone's calling, "Excuse me for a moment, I need to take this." She stands up and makes her way outside. A comfortable silence fills the room with breaks of idle chatter, "We must be on our way now, thank you for coming to pick up Rui Mr and Mrs (l/n)."
"There's no need to thank us dear, we should be thanking you for keeping our daughter out of trouble." My parents wave of her thanks, being supportive of my choice after the accident happened. "And it's nice to know our daughter other half too, we hope to see you two again sometime with some good news." Mum winks at me and Gino, hinting at something that I didn't want to know.
"Bye mum, bye dad." I hug the two of them goodbye, "Say bye to Rui for me." I wave goodbye to them as I watch them leave, like every time I had seen them.
"Lets head back." Akane says, standing up and ushering us into the elevator. We made our way up, idle chatter filling the elevator as well as chatter about some of the cases we have yet to close. Upon reaching the floor we split, Akane going back to our department office to finish some work while Ginoza went off somewhere else. I was off duty for the mean time and so had some time to spare before Ginoza came off duty.
I wonder up to the restaurant and sit down at one of the tables overlooking the city. It was a beautiful sight but it could be made even better if Ginoza was sitting with me. "What would you like to order?" A waiter asks, suddenly appearing by my side.
"I'll just have (f/d)." You say, hoping to have dinner with him.
The waiter bows before heading back into the kitchen to tell the chief. Moment later he comes out holding a tray with my drink on it. It looked strange. My lone drink on a large tray without anything else. It felt like it was showing what was happening to me right now. "Here you are." The waiter places the drink down on the table before leaving to go back into the kitchen.
"Hello (y/n)," The deep voice of Ginoza floated into my ears.
I turn around in my chair quickly, watching Ginoza take the chair in front of me. The candle in the middle of the table created shadows on his face as he looked back at me. His eyes narrowed as he studies me. He nods his head and smiles gently, his cold exterior disappearing once it's only the two of us. "So you did make it." I mutter, smiling back at him. He finished earlier then he said he would.
He nods his head, "I can wait til you finish your drink though." He suggests, folding his hands in front of him.
I nod my head once as I sip the drink, curious about what he wants to do. I was sorta hoping that it might be that. 'But if it wasn't than would I have take dominance if he didn't want it? Or maybe he did and be was just covering it well? I don't know.' I huff, glaring towards my drink. A dry chuckle leaves Ginoza's lips as I look up, finishing the drink.
"Follow me." He says somewhat coldly, yet still with warmth in his voice. I smile up at him and bound along beside him, wonder what he had planned for the two of us.
As we enter his apartment within the MWPSB, his Siberian husky Dime comes to greet us, his tail wagging friendly as he barks his greeting. Laughing joyfully I sit down, rubbing my hands along Dime, "Hello boy," I coo, hugging the dog. "How have you been boy?"
All I get in return is his barks of joy as I laugh from him licking the side of my cheek.
"Come on Dime, let (y/n) up." Ginoza asks, patting the couch for him to jump on to. "That's a good boy. Now (y/n) follow me to where tea will be served."
~Time Skip~
I sat at the table laughing as Gino cleaned the dirty plates. He finishes and the draining of water is heard as Ginoza wraps his arms around me, resting his cheek on the top of my head. "So what's so special about today Gino?" I ask, smiling and relaxing into his arms.
"It's our six month anniversary and I want to show you something." He places a chaste kiss to the top of my head before taking my hand and letting me stand up before leading me to his bedroom. "Wait here." He let's go of my hand and enters his bedroom, sitting the door and blocking my view. After a few mintues I hear his voice. "Come in."
Opening the door I could've dropped dead. The room was dark and lit by several candles. In the dim light I could see a heart shaped bed with red rose petals scattered all over it and on the floor. Laying on the bed like the god he's built like is a shirtless Ginoza. My jaw drops as I scan his shirtless body. Sure I had seen him shirtless plenty of times and sure we had done it a couple of times before, but it was nothing as romantic as this. He seemed to of pulled out all the stops for this one night.
"Wow." I sigh, watching his muscles ripple as he sits up, gesturing me to walk closer. Once I was within arm reach he wraps an arm around my waist and pull me in quickly. Making me fall on top of him as his back hits the bed, our lips connect and an explosion of colours happen. It was heated and lust filled. We gasped for breaths many times during the kiss, not being able to get enough of each other.
He breaks the kiss off, touching our noses together he smiles, "You won't ever forget this night." He mumbles, kissing me again. This time is was calmer. Almost like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. Our lips hit gently and run along each other as our tongues prob the other's, tangling and twisting in a dance neither of us understand. It was like the world just fell away all that was there was Gino.
Sighing happily into the kiss I let my fingers trail along his chest and muscles, tapping here and there and rubbing in other places. Opening my eyes I look down at him, breaking the sweetest loving kiss off far too early. I rub a thumb along his cheek bone, gazing into his eyes. I realize just how much I love the man underneath me. My heart swells with love at each gaze, even the simplest touch sends electricity running through my veins.
"I love you Gino." I smile, rubbing our noses together and entangling our fingers and legs.
Ginoza smiles back, laughing a small bit. His attitude was different from his serious work attitude. He was caring and loving and just what any girl wished her boyfriend to be. "And I to you my love." He places a kiss to my jaw line, his fingers leaving mine to play with the hem of my shirt.
Sitting up I take my shirt off, before smashing our lips together, knotting his hair around my fingers. Oh how I truly desired this man. If it was a sin to love a man like this than I would be a proud sinner.
"Ginoza~" I moan, enjoying the kiss with him.
His hands come up my back and snap the back of my bra, pulling it away from my body without breaking the kiss. His next step was my pants, which came off with no effort. Panting I break the kiss, gulping air down like a fish out of water.
His hands trail along my hips and stomach, tracing patterns and making me giggle softly. I get to work on his pant's buckle, taking his belt off and unzipping his pants I drop them to the floor with my clothes. Almost near naked we both attack each others lips again, his hands exploring my body and squishing my breasts and pinching my sides and insides of thighs, wanting every desirable noise he can get out of me. Grinding his pelvis against mine I can feel how hard he had became in this short amount of time.
Breaking off the kiss once again he flips us over, kissing down my jawline and to my collarbones, nipping at the skin just enough to leave a mark that shows others that I'm his. My fingers dig into his shoulders as his lips enclose around one of my nipples. I start to get wet as my need for him grows.
Maybe it was how the room was presented? Maybe how he was acting? Maybe he did something to my food? Whatever caused me to act like this was very strange as I have never acted like this before. I moan as Ginoza's teeth scrape the sensitive skin, causing my back to arch. Fiddling with my underwear he drags the cloth down, his fingers ever so lightly brushing my skin. Leaving hot molten trails along my legs as the underwear is dropped to the ground. Now I was completely naked in front of him.
He pulls away and gazes down at my sweating form beneath him. My thighs rubbing together to receive some of the tension in which my boyfriend had given me. My face flushed red from need. He caresses my cheeks as he just gazes down. Almost like he was awestruck at what he can turn me into.
"Beautiful." Ginoza mutters, kissing my lips as he allows my fingers to get back to work on his pants, his constant grinding into my pelvis and hands was making it hard to concentrate as with each grind I lost my mind. The want was so strong that I just ripped them from his body and chucked them onto the ground, flipping us over once again I take command and sit on his pelvis. Grinding on him as I grew wetter, leaving a wet patch on his boxers from where I sat.
Groaning beneath me he grips a hand on my hip and does a small jerk of his hips. His clothed dick rubbing ever so wonderfully against me. I moan as I grind harder, wanting more of the delightful friction. He pushes my head down with his robotic arm and slams our lips together, the fever inside both of us growing more wild with each moment passed of contact.
We both groan into the kiss, unable to get enough. His fingers knot into my hair as our lips move harshly against each other, almost as if we were trying to devour each other we wanted to be so much closer with so much more contact desirable.
It was getting harder to control ourselves as our bodies burned with lust and love. The kiss is forced apart as I pull his boxers off, wasting no time with clutching the material I grind against his erection. The friction of our skin on skin rubbing selfishly against each other, causing our bodies to shake with desire and strangles moans to leave our throats.
"Be ready to not walk tomorrow." Ginoza pants, our breaths coming out is short broken gasps as out lips connect again. Lust and love clouds our vision as he thrusts once, burying himself to the hilt within me. I arch my back as the feeling of wholeness overcomes me. It was like no pleasure I've ever felt before. It was a pleasure I could only feel with him.
It seemed it had the same reaction on him as he throws his head back to tease a long deep throated groan, far closer to a growl than anything else.
I start grinding, wanting more of the pleasurable feeling, wanting to be pushed over the edge and fall into pleasure's grasp. Ginoza grips both my hips and starts to lift me up and down, meeting me at halfway by thrusting upwards to create a pleasurable feeling in both of our groins.
"Ginoza~" I moan loudly, "Faster please~" I manage to say around the moans.
Flipping us over he starts to thrust harder, not getting enough pleasure as he desired. It was like a pit in our bodies. We wanted, no needed, each other. We needed each other to quench our unquenchable thirst. His thrusts start to grow faster and he grips the bed, his lips colliding into mine in a hot passionate kiss. Our bodies melting and molding to each others as our skin rub. Grunts, groans and moans bounce of the walls with our names being repeated in there too.
The heat was unbearable as I clinged his shoulders, meeting him halfway like he did with myself. I was close. I could feel myself being slingshotted to the edge. Ginoza brings a hand to the front of my body and starts to rub my clit with his finger. It made the feeling even more intense, making me arch my back just as I fall over. The orgasm was the most powerful one I've had since, making me see white as my body is wracked with being over pleasured. I cry out Ginoza's name, only successfully making him thrust harder as our skin hits hard together, rubbing in places as he thrusts for his release. My walls clamp on, making his experience and my own all the more pleasurable. He finds his release not long afterwards, growling my own name as he throws his head back, filling my womb with his seed.
It was warm and dribbled out as he fell forwards, landing on top of me with his head by my neck. Our breathing is harsh and uneven as our chests rise and fall quickly. The acts which had just passed still in our bloodstream. He mumbles unrecognizable words before pulling out. Both of us tired as the adrenaline is slowly diluted with time and out breathing grows backroom normal.
I keep my eyes close and focus on steadying my breathing as well as the man on top of me. I was drifting off to sleep when I'm suddenly picked up. "Room clean." The tired voice of Ginoza speaks, he pressed me against his bare chest as I open my eyes and look up at him. I lean up and press my lips softly against his own. Transferring and communicating how much I truly did love him. He return both my kids and my feelings, if not returning the feelings more. Once the room was clean and we had managed to clean up we fall into bed, cuddling up against each other as we both relax.
As we were half asleep his bracelet started to ring. Grumbling Ginoza answers the call. Akane was calling saying that I needed to go and see the boss for my punishment. "Sorry Akane but (y/n) and I will be off tonight until tomorrow night." He apologizes, hanging up before she could say another word in. Nestling back into his place he pulls me in closer and hugs me. "(Y/n), I love you. Will you stay with me forever?"
I lazily open my eyes and look into Ginoza's before closing them once again and nuzzling into his bare chest. Still neither of us had clothes on but it no longer mattered anyway and we were both too tired to even bother with the articles of cloth. "Of course I will Gino. No matter what because I love you and I will forever love you." I mutter watching him fall asleep, the thought of my punishment trying to make itself known. Gino wraps his arms and pulls me in closer, the thoughts leaving as I snuggle and get comfortable again. Falling into a comfortable sleep alongside my lover where I'll always be.

I loved and enjoyed the hell out of Psycho Pass First Inspector, but other than those beloved 40 seconds of Shinkane, these are other moments I loved.
Hinakawa eating his sandwich the wrong way
Sugo giving his all while drawing fire
Gino tugging his lapels after taking down that robot. Hot.
Kisaragi jumping into the pool to save Irie
Mika’s little fist bump with Todoroki
“I have faith in my men.” *immediate cut to Kei getting beat to shit*
“Come back here, you old fossil!”
Shion being a badass and putting her life on the line
Tiny Arata, Kei, and Maiko
Kei shoving the lipstick in Vixen’s mouth and then blowing her up
Pretty much the entirety of the Sybil System’s roast of Azusawa, and one brain literally distracting him during the fight in the brain juice
Arata’s dad insisting that he live as an individual
Gino and Arata’s conversation at their dads’ graves
Yayoi’s little pout when Shion brought her face close to hers

We had a conversation on Psycho-pass discord, and this headcanon came into mind, what if Gino and Mika were to have a baby, and i needed to do this XD Yes, and our headcanon was that if they had a daughter they would name her Sae, after Gino’s mom lol

Ok, after reading the extra chapter of PP3... Nobody can convince me that Frederica hasn't a soft spot for Kou (how can we blame her?? Also, canonically in Case 3 she admitted she wanted to meet a celebrity like him and she was interested in him since Saiga-sensei's lessons) - but not reciprocated - and Gino is pretty touched by Kou's female version/cool chief! 🤭🤭 That makes me remember that Gino's ideal type was the girly one with long fluff hair but in the end he was more attracted by the strong, older bossy type (well, Mika is younger but she sums both types) and Kou likes a companion who can keep a conversation (being the one who connects more on an intellectual level than a physical level... Hello Akane 💖💖). And I know that Frederica sums for both since she's a strong and gorgeous boss and was able to perfectly lecture and convince Kougami to come back... 😅😅 But not, the two of them are already taken! 🤭🤭 Mention for Sugo who had the idea of cheering their stressed boss, he's so sweet! 💖💖 I must say that it's lovely to see those three plotting and having fun... It was so long! 😭😭 And I guess that Shion's influence was strong, since she was the one who used to suggest parties! 💖

Hello! I would like to ask do you think Kogami and Akane met when he came back to Japan or do you think she was already in prison back then? Do you think their scene in season 8 was their first time meeting in a long time or do you think they meet often even though she is in prison?
Hello! And thank you for the question. I’ve been asking myself that too.
Well, about your second question, I think this is not the first time Kou’s visiting her. I’m writing here their conversation:
“You seem healthy.”
“Yes.”
“I’ve always been physically strong.”
“Everyone’s the same as ever.”
“I see.”
“Your conviction was right. You’ll be able to say so proudly one day.”
“Please tell me about yourself sometime, too.”
“Sure. I’ve got stories from my long trip.”
This exchange of words makes me think they have already talked together, in particular about something connected to the foxes case/Akane’s imprisonment, and that she’s the one mainly talking in their encounters.
Also that particular smile she makes when she hears his voice…it sounds like “you’re here again for me”, like it’s not the first time he visits her.
About your question if they manage to meet when Kou comes back or not, it’s hard to tell. I’ve run through all the episodes following the few traces left of the old division one, the only thing really interesting in that boring season, I’ve come up with some facts and some assumptions.
Exactly 3 years divide Case 3 from PP3 because PP Sinners of the system Case 3 starts in November 2117 and PP3 in November 2120. 3 years are a long gap to cover and the events happened are many:
Kou comes back to Japan with the help of Frederika and starts working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the SAD. I don’t know how long it takes for him to come back home but I can assume it didn’t take him so long…Frederika must have already been prepared to the possibility to find him and bring him back. She’s just that kind of woman.
Akane must have been an inspector for some time but then something happens. She’s probably already investigating on Bifrost because at the end of episode 1 she says about Kei and Arata “They will be they hounds who’ll reach the invisible enemy” and Frederika says “We finally made a breakthrough. You could say that these results were the end result of Akane Tsunemori’s actions.”
The lines in episode 8 during the fight between Kou, Gino and the pathfinders seem to hint that Vixen has some grudge against the old division 1 “You want another shot at the old unit one, right? I’ll give you a chance soon”
She kills??? (I’m not so sure this is really what happened though) someone and she’s imprisoned. At this point it’s likely that Gino and Sugou move to the SAD, I mean…it would be a good moment for Frederika to steal them, while the team is short of the lead inspector and undergoes a reorganization. Mika is also so angry with “that horrible blonde”, she says “I’m still sore over her poaching my capable officers!”
Gino seems to meet Mika by person again after a lot of time, so all these events don’t happen immediately after Kou’s back to Japan.
After Akane’s imprisonment, there are two new inspectors in Division 1, Kira and Fuse, who investigate on the foxes and get instituzionalized/murdered.
Only after this, Arata and Kei are assigned to division 1 as inspectors. The only strange thing is that Arata has been recommended by Tsunemori and I wonder how can this be possible if she was already imprisoned…though, the facts come to help again, because it looks like Akane can freely talk to almost everyone there. Mika talks to her by phone, the new Bureau Chiefs visits her, Hinakawa updates her on the investigations, Kou also visits her and as I have just said, it looks like he has visited her before.
All of this must have taken time to happen, so my opinion is more oriented to Kou coming back and not being able to meet Akane. Their story sounds like Lady Hawk…when he’s finally able to come back, she can’t be there to welcome him…it sounds so like Psycho-pass, so sad.
Sorry for the long rambling, but I’ve been happy to go after the shades of the old division one, the old Psycho-pass vibes.

Psycho-Pass 3 - Episode 2 [Spoilers]
Reblogging again without the break because I can’t stop talking about it.
1. The housing bubble.  The scam that Sasagawa and Yonehara are committing is thoroughly illustrated by a nice hologram. It’s revealed that Rick knew about the scam and was about to blow the whistle and so, a series of “accidents” were planned to cause his death. The important part here is that if a crime is split into many different parts and each of those parts is completed unwittingly by others, a crime is harder to trace and a criminal very difficult to catch. The title of the episode is “Teumessian Sacrifices.” The Teumessian fox in Greek mythology is a fox that “was destined to never be caught.”  Sasagawa sacrifices his partner (are they lovers too?) and tries to escape but he’s arrested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. The ministry of Foreign Affairs We knew this from before, but since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does the dirty job of Sibyl overseas, Sibyl’s rules don’t seem to apply to them. Not only are they able to arrest Sasagawa without checking his hue, but criminals like Kogami can work for the Ministry and carry actual guns, instead of dominators. As if that wasn’t insulting enough for the elite of MWPSB Inspectors and Chief Mika, there goes Ginoza giving a beautiful ass-kicking to poor Kei who also happens to be an outstanding fighter. Arata, the mentalist, is mesmerized by Kogami but we aren’t shown if he’s having a vision. Could his vision perhaps have been the murder of Makishima? Since Arata can see the past it’s not unlikely that he may have seen some of Kogami’s past.
3. The past-past. While Mika is complaining openly and loudly about Frederica, we see Kogami walk past her. I think it’s pretty obvious they can’t stand each other. In Case 2 Mika warns Akane about taking risks or getting involved in political affairs. In the novels, we know Mika resents Akane because she thinks Akane holds the old Division 1 in a higher esteem. In the movie Mika provokes Akane by implying she was distracted with an ex-enforcer. In other words, she knows who Kogami is and I think that in a very weird way she cares about Akane and thinks Kogami is dangerous. And well, she really hates criminals, so that too.
Not much is revealed about the deal that Mika and Ginoza talked about in episode 1, but Mika asks him about Akane and Gino says “I know what I should be doing for her.”
Well, don’t worry, Gino. It seems like Hinakawa is doing more than any of you by informing Akane about the case and about the two new Inspectors in charge.
4. Akane In one conversation Frederica says to Mika “You could say these results were the end result of Akane Tsunemori’s actions.” What results? The arrest of Sasagawa or the formation of the Foxes society? It sounds very ambiguous to me. Mika then says that Akane will receive a trial one day because that’s what she wants. It may be that Akane committed a crime and her hue failed to cloud. Perhaps she’ll get what she wanted for Makishima (a trial) before she knew what Sibyl truly was.
Is Akane writing her defense for the trial that she’s waiting for? She says she’s been liberated from society and that the truth will come to light. Is she preparing to reveal Sibyl’s secret?
5. The Bifrost I may have missed something, but the members of the Bifrost talk about an Inspector who fell in the hands of the Operations Department. Who’s that Inspector? Akane? They also mention the word “sacrifice.” Are they the real masterminds behind the Foxes society and so, since they know all the bits and pieces of the crimes they’re committing, are they asymptomatic?
We see the beginning of the new case for the Inspectors to solve, now involving political figures running for elections. It will be interesting to see what Episode 3 will bring.
What did you guys think of the episode?
