Greetings from Windenburg! Every year a Fellowship Conference is held for all believers in the Watcher, regardless of denomination, to gather in fellowship. This year the Conference was being held in Windenburg, at the Cathedral of St. Cornelius.
Tumblr media
In general, Johnathan and I find the Church of St. Cornelius to be too over-the-top, and that all the accouterments they favor distracts from the worship of the Watcher. But Iris, always with an eye for art, fell in love with the building as soon as she saw it! Her face just lit up– it was beautiful to see.
Tumblr media
The first day of the conference is mostly sermons and workshops. We heard the most moving sermon from the Father of the Cathedral on the infinite love of the Watcher, and how as faithful people we need to stand together against the Shadow, rather than falling into petty infighting.
Tumblr media
On the lunch break we took the time to introduce ourselves to the Father and his family. He and his wife are very somber, serious people. The Watcher is clearly their number one priority, no matter how many decorations they have in their Cathedral.
Tumblr media
They have one son named Danny. He seems like a good boy, and don’t think I didn’t notice he and Iris chatting!
Tumblr media
Near the Cathedral there’s this adorable chess board park. Isn’t it so cute!
Tumblr media
Then we returned to the Cathedral for more workshops. I have to admit, the longer I was in the Cathedral, the more it grew on me. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding.
Tumblr media
As for lodging, we secured beds at the local hostel. It’s a lovely historical building– I adore the old feeling of Windenburg!
Tumblr media
The next morning, we got breakfast at this adorable little coffee shop before returning to the Cathedral.
Tumblr media
The second day of the conference is split into two– the final workshops and sermons in the morning, and Fellowshipping activities in the afternoon.
Tumblr media
During the hymns, the Father was nice enough to take Iris up to the pipe organ on the second floor and show her how it worked. She was a natural right away!
Tumblr media
In the afternoon, we went for a tour of the famous Von Haunt estate. Most people know it because of the “ghost stories” that surround the place, but the Von Haunts were passionate followers of the Watcher, and contributed much of the funds required to build the Cathedral in the plaza.
Tumblr media
There were many interesting things to see, but overall the favorite was definitely the hedge maze. We wandered in there for what seemed like hours!
Tumblr media
Of course, Iris found her way to the first instrument she could.
Tumblr media
That evening, Iris and I went for a walk alongside the canal. I could see her falling more and more in love with Windenburg– perhaps the Watcher will lead her to this city on Its path for her. I will certainly pray that it will. She’s perfectly suited to the slow pace of the old city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yumiko: Hey, mind if I play?
Penny: Oh, uh, sure. If you want to.
Yumiko drew out a chair and sat down, immediately moving one of her chess pieces. Penny moved hers, then couldn’t resist the curiosity anymore.
Penny: Aren’t you… cold?
Yumiko shrugged.
Yumiko: Not really. I grew up here, so I’m used to it.
Penny: Oh.
Yumiko looked her up and down.
Yumiko: So, are you one of them? The Watcher freaks?
Penny flushed hot with shame.
Penny: I guess.
They played in silence for several more minutes. Penny put Yumiko into check within five minutes, and the other girl raised disbelieving eyebrows.
Yumiko: You’re smart. Do you really believe all the Watcher stuff?
Penny: I believe in the Watcher.
Yumiko: That wasn’t the question.
Penny bit her lip and didn’t answer. Yumiko stood to leave, but as she was walking away, Penny blurted out another sentence.
Penny: I like your outfit.
Yumiko turned and gave her a knowing smile, then walked away.
The next morning, our final day in Windenburg, I made a huge tower of pancakes for the whole family.
Tumblr media
Then we took a trip to the Crumbling Isle and visited the old ruins there with the heated springs underneath. The water was heavenly!
Tumblr media
Afterwards, we warmed up by a roaring bonfire.
Tumblr media
That night, we wrapped up our trip with a cookout at the hostel.
Tumblr media
What a fantastic trip! I feel so blessed knowing there are so many other faithful Watcherful people in the world, helping us in the neverending battle against Shadow! Amen!

So today we completed my college admission!! Almost every staff member we came across was pleasantly surprised that I chose Mechanical Engineering lol (✨I’m not like the oThEr gIrLs✨)
AND THEN THEY DROP THE BOMB SAYING COLLEGE STARTS NEXT WEEK. We had assumed it was September 19th. Nope, it’s August 19th! I didn’t buy anything for my hostel room 😭😭😭 also my hostel room is REALLY small, like the beds take up 3/4th of the space. What am I gonna do??!
Also I got the hostel that’s 5 km away from the college, since the one that’s inside is completely filled. One advantage though, is that we have a lot of shops near this hostel, so that’s convenient.
When I told my brother I’m starting next week he almost cried. I was holding up so well until this happened. He wants to be happy for me, but he couldn’t help being sad :(

Things I've manifested in the past 6 months
Getting a job offer in the center of the city that I wanted
This job could have placed me in a few different cities but I wanted the specific one and I did NOT want the suburbs, that's exactly what I got. I ended up realizing that I didn't want to do that job or move to that city though so I didn't take it.
Solo travelling and having a good experience
I stayed in two cities I'd never been to, I wanted to not feel lonely so I scripted that I would meet nice girls in the hostels I stayed at and I did. I went to the clubs/went dancing with them. I also had good experiences with the hostels, they were clean and in the second one, there was some mistake with my room so I got put in a more expensive room for no extra charge, and for the first night I had no one else in it (which I liked, I could sleep easier lol).
Fun times ;) with a guy I met travelling
In one of the hostels, I really briefly saw this guy and held the door for him (LOL) and I thought to myself, not even trying to manifest or anything, that he's my type/I'd like a guy like that etc. Then not an hour later I went to the hostel bar to find the girls I met and guess who they were talking to? That guy and his friends. So we talked and ended up making out by the end of the night lol.
Fun times / a handsome guy to do things with
My romantic life was pretty slow for a bit. One thing that I had been wanting for a while was a connection with someone where we could do romantic/s*xual things together and I would feel comfortable, because there were things I hadn't done. Now I know this sounds like a boyfriend but I also had my SP who was living somewhere else, I had feelings for him obviously. And I had learned my lesson that I DON'T want to fall in love with someone else, but I DID want to "practice" and get experience so when I get with my SP I won't feel so nervous and inexperienced. So one random day I met this guy in a class and he kept looking at me and during the class I was kinda manifesting him, he ended up talking to my friends and then me and I got his number. Long story short we went out, he was extremely sweet and attentive, like paid so much attention to me and what I said. Also he was really stereotypically handsome (but not quite my type). He was very non-threatening if that makes sense so I felt comfortable to do physical stuff with him and he took it very slow and was super sweet. Eventually I felt like he liked me more than I liked him and I broke it off nicely, but it did accomplish what I wanted. He also set the bar higher in certain ways.
My SP coming to a nearby city
My SP had been travelling for a bit and I knew that his friends lived in a city near me, so I had been assuming for a while that he would visit them AND that when he did he would invite me too. (Of course I also was manifesting he would visit me in my city but I had beliefs that it was less likely, oops.)
That's exactly what happened, his friends were super nice and had a huge apartment so I stayed with them, we had a nice time together. Staying comfortably in an expensive city for free >>>>
Fixing bus schedules and making them less full
This one seems small but the public transport to get to my job was really pissing me off for a few months. The buses would come super late or not at all making me late to work and if they did come they would be packed and I couldn't sit. So I manifested that they always come on time (or when I need them, like 2 minutes late lol), they get me to work on time and that there's always seats available. At some point the schedules and routes changed (twice even?) and it happened. Made my mornings much nicer.
I probably manifested a lot of other little things that I don't remember but these are a few highlights.

Day 6 - Bratislava (Slovakia)
It's a beautiful day, sunny and breezy, big fluffy clouds in the sky, and a very crisp light that makes everything beautiful.
Tumblr media
And coffee is only slightly more expensive than in Italy, I could cry XD (it also tends to be more acidic, which I don't particularly care for, but still).
There's a good amount of people strolling through the street of the old town, but it's not the crowds of Vienna or even Innsbruck. It's like a good, enjoyable quantity of people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bratislava is full of small, slightly hipstery cafés, and boy was this something I missed while in Vienna (mostly because it was raining all the time, and the bigger, fancier cafés have never felt really welcoming to me). Also there's a lot of specialty coffee shops where you can find different roasts and brewing methods, which I like a lot.
Tumblr media
I found this really cute one in a courtyard off one of the main streets (which seems to be a thing I didn't properly understand yesterday, lots of places in this courtyards/alleyways to explore) which has pretty good coffee AND it comes with a bottle of water? Lovely!
For lunch I went to a (very touristy) restaurant built inside an ex theater. It's quite beautiful, and they managed to preserve enough of the original structure to make a good, original setting. There was supposed to be a lunch set menu (most restaurants apparently have them), but there wasn't? Possibly because I was too late, but I couldn't find an indication of the time anywhere. Anyway, after a moment of real frustration, I decided to give in to the touristy vibe and get THE MOST touristic food available: the garlic soup served inside a loaf of bread XD and you know what, it was actually pretty good! Though, as it generally happens with soups served in bread, it was A LOT of bread. Almost impossible to finish. Maybe people share it? I hope so, because otherwise is an immense waste.
It's getting cloudier but tomorrow it might rain, so I decide to go check out Devin Castle, a castle ruin on top of a rock at the confluence of the Morava and the Danube which is luckily included in my 72h public transport pass even if it's outside of the city. (Also included with my ticket: the bus to the Hungarian border south of the city. Should I go to the Hungarian border? Should I cross into Hungary for like 5 minutes? My heart wants to XD).
Tumblr media
The castle is pretty magnificent. You can climb up but the garlic soup in bread is proving as hard to digest as it sounds XD So I just take the road the circle around it, going near the river.
Tumblr media
There's also a path that starts here and goes up along the wetlands of the Morava with panels that explain how the wetlands work and why they are important to preserve. It looked really promising but the path around the castle was in the other direction. It's a lovely walk near the river, and I'm quite happy to be in a more natural environment after all these days spent mostly in cities.
Tumblr media
On my way back I decide to go check out the riverside area of the Eurovea shopping center, which is supposed to be very nice even if it's technically part of the shopping center.
(Also since it's close I decide to also go see the blue church, which is VERY PRETTY)
Tumblr media
I go inside the mall, try to figure out how to get to the riverbank, somehow manage to go down one floor and then up again JUST AT THE RIGHT PLACE to completely miss the part where you have to step outside if you're on floor zero and end up walking for an infinite time inside this giant mall, which is really NOT what I wanted (the weather is still nice! I yearn to be outside!). In the end I manage to get out of the shopping center at the right place and well, the guide wasn't lying when it said this was worth visiting! Very pleasant, very beautiful.
Tumblr media
I'm so tired and I wanted to go back to the hostel early tonight but somehow it's already nine by the time I get back. Oh well XD
Met a lovely Slovenian girl called Nadia and had a nice talk with her to close well the day!

Half Moon Run at Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin | 30th Sept. 2023 | photos by me
A little tale of a great concert with Half Moon Run and Flyte, and of spending a day in Berlin with Andrey the next day. I've divided the text into sections for you to skip to the best part.
Ich will nicht nach Berlin
Berlin has a special place reserved for me in its heart. However, it's not a place of love or appreciation, but a place of chaos and unforseen little catastrophes. This is why I barely wanted to get out of bed on Saturday morning to catch my train. For god's sake, I thought, as I stood sandwiched between other travellers in the second overcrowded train of the day, this city already hates me before I even get there. Of course, that had more to do with the prolonged weekend for German Day of Unity than with Berlin, but still.
Other than that everything went smoothly. The weather was really nice. I was even on time and had a good meal at the Vapiano in the main station. The hostel was fine, although I lost my way a little bit when trying to find it. I put on a new necklace I had bought while waiting for a connecting train and made my way to the Festsaal Kreuzberg. Of course I could not find the location right away as Google Maps lead me into some weird inner yard with loads of graffiti. There were several venues and some outdoor club as well and it was all situated near the river.
Wagenburgen and queues
Since there was no queue I decided to take a stroll along the Mauerweg near the river. Many people had the same idea as me because it was a beautiful Saturday evening. There is some sort of hippie camp in this park called the Wagenburg and people were making music there and dancing. When I returned, there was still no queue. However N had a little heart attack for me, because a certain satirist decided to appear after five months of silence to promote a demonstration against right wing politics. While I was still happily grinning like an idiot, I noticed a photographer and three guys across the street near the venue. I think it must have been the band taking some photos but I did not try to approach them.
Tumblr media
People only started arriving half an hour before doors. And right away a young woman called Marianne joined me. She is a big fan of Half Moon Run and had never been to their concert because the band had never visited her home country Mexico. So now she was excited to finally see her heroes as well as their opening act Flyte. She was soon joined by Laurits, who was equally nice. He is actually a big fan of Flyte, so the evening was just a perfect opportunity for them.
The venue itself is actually quite beautiful. It was bigger than I anticipated with an entrance hall that also hosted the merch stand and the cloakroom. The concert hall had a balcony and a podium with red sofas. The three of us secured great spots at the middle-right of the stage. The stage itself was not separated by a barrier so we would have the best possible view.
Tumblr media
When I decided to avoid the overcrowded merch stand at the end of the concert, Berlin intervened again and decided that today is not the day for card payments. So I had to return to pay for the album with cash a few minutes later. That was another girl's luck because I gave her the missing money for a t-shirt and and thanked me around forty-two times and immediately paid it back via Paypal. Then it was time to sit on the floor for a while longer and wait until the concert would begin.
Flyte and Half Moon Run
Around eight o'clock Flyte came on to play an acoustic setlist for us. The duo from London consists of the songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill. Both of them seemed lovely and have wonderful voices. The songs were calm and dreamy, some a bit sad, others hopeful. They were accompanied by some little stories and funny jokes and overall the audience seemed to love them. I soon realised that the lighting engineer was enjoying themselves with many colourful and moving lights, so I decided to take quite a few photos of the band. I tried out three different prisms to achieve a wide range of effects and overall had a wonderful time.
Tumblr media
Then the "living room concert" was over and roadies came onstage to arrange everything for Half Moon Run. We were on Conner's side with the keyboard right in front of us. Dylan's drum kit and keyboard were situated in the middle to the back of the stage and Devon would play on the left side with his drum already set up next to the mic stand.
The band started with You Can Let Go from their current album Salt. It was a perfect opening and I enjoyed it right away. It was followed by one of my favourites, Hotel in Memphis. I was very happy to hear another favourite, Narrow Margins, as well. I realised quickly that everything sounded amazing and that the band hadn't lost any of their power or stage presence, despite of now being a trio. The last time I saw them in Manchester in 2019, they still had Isaac Symmonds as their fourth member, who has since gone solo.
Tumblr media
What has not improved, however, is their lighting. It is a rare case when the support act has better lighting than the main band. It was cool and it did fit the songs but it was really dark, unpredictable and a nightmare for taking photos. The other thing I didn't enjoy was the overpowering bass for the likes of Salt and Alco. I think it did not fit the songs and made them less fun to listen to.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, the performance of Devil May Care was just lovely. Just as in Manchester, the band gathered around one microphone at the front and sang together. The last song before the encore was She Wants to Know and the crowd went absolutely crazy for this one. Overall, the older songs sounded a bit more rounded and thought-through in my opinion and it was wonderful to hear them live again. The encore started with Favourite Boy and I really got nostalgic because that was the first song I heard live when they played in London at Rough Trade East. I instantly fell in love with it back then and listened to it a lot during my time in London.
Tumblr media
Their last two songs were Fire Escape and then of course Full Circle, the ultimate banger. However, we cheered so much that they had to come back one more time to play a final song for us, Need It, another one from their first album. And that was it - the final bow and the lights came up again. Marianne, absolutely overjoyed for the entire concert, caught one of Conner's picks. The setlist went to another girl, but that was alright too.
Happy endings at the merch stand
We went to the merch table because the woman working there had told me earlier that the band may come out. But first there were the two lovely guys from Flyte. Laurits had the time of his life with his heroes, they gave him a hug and took the cutest photo together with their heads resting on his shoulder. They looked like old friends! Overall such an extremely lovely band. If they had any of their albums there I would have bought one. But instead I only told them that I enjoyed their show and that their lights were beautiful. Apparently the lighting designer had been allowed full artistic freedom. I told them that I had a lot of nice photos and they encouraged me to share them later. (They actually did see and share the photos today, which is really lovely!) Then, when almost everyone had already gone, suddenly Devon and Dylan appeared out of nowhere. I actually wouldn't have noticed them right next to me behind a wooden counter if Marianne hadn't exclaimed that they were there. "Wow, where did you come from so fast?" I asked them in surprise. Devon was actually being cheeky and replied "Oh why, we're actually quite late." They first attended to Marianne who was absolutely overjoyed to talk to them. Then it was already my turn and I asked them to sign a CD for me and Devon inquired about my name. So now I have two personally signed Half Moon Run CDs already, yay! I told them it was great to see them again because the last time was in London and Manchester four years ago and Devon agreed that this felt like an eternity. Both of them were kind enough to pose for a photo and I thanked them again and stepped back to allow others to talk to them. Marianne actually ended up going back again to take a photo and the night was already more than perfect.
Tumblr media
Nighttime fries
Marianne and Laurits decided to walk me to the nearest station at Treptower park. We talked about concerts and bribing band members with chocolate. Marianne made me laugh a lot when she complimented my "dancing" which is really just me vibing to my favourite songs. I can't dance at all. Because their friend didn't pick up the phone to arrange a meet up they asked me if I wanted to grab food with them. Actually I was very hungry and had nothing at the hostel, so I thanked them and agreed. We went back to Jannowitzbrücke and found a Döner that was still open. After some fries and cold drinks we parted with hugs and I walked back to the hostel to shower and fall into bed.
I have a special place in Berlin's heart - part two
Berlin truly loves me. After around four hours asleep I was wide awake at six in the morning although I only had to leave at ten to meet Andrey. Andrey is a friend of N - he is originally from Moscow but he came to Berlin to live and work in his dream city. He's been here only for a bit more than two months and already feels like a local, walking around in Treptower Park and picking up all cats in a five kilometer radius daily. So I thought, to avoid getting more of the wrath of Berlin, I should team up with someone who loves this city as much as it loves him.
As it turned out, that was a brilliant idea because even with Andrey by my side, we were not in luck that day. It already started with me somehow going to the wrong station, getting lost while explaining to a foreign tourist couple how they shouldn't get lost, and then discovering that my coat had some stains while trying to navigate to his house. Even at his house when I rang the doorbell I somehow managed to run up the wrong staircase, resulting in him being very confused where I disappeared to.
Andrey is a lovely and very outgoing person who is excellent at leading conversations and navigating through the city. An overall well-mannered and lovely guy who makes you feel very safe and relaxed. I am not sure whether he got that part or whether my jokes about how easy it would be to abduct me because I have no sense of orientation unsettled him. In any case we could not have breakfast at the coffee shop he wanted, so we walked to an alternative.
I must confess I have never had breakfast with someone at any bakery or anything. Closest would be some sort of brunch I had in Vienna last year, but that was more like lunch already. Here we had a bagel for me and some eggs for him as well as chai latte and orange juice. The breakfast was tasty, but two wasps agreed that Andrey was much tastier than the breakfast altogether. The poor guy had to battle with them until one fell into my orange juice and flew off after a rescue with the straw.
Tumblr media
We talked about a wide variety of topics the whole day as he is a very chatty person who always comes up with something new to inquire about. After the breakfast we took a train to the Museumsinsel where the Pergamon is situated alongside other museums. If Berlin hates me, the Pergamon hates me just a little bit more because this has been at least the fourth attempt to visit it - and it did not turn out again. In fact we could not visit any of the museums because the entry was (almost) free that day. That means that everything was completely booked out.
Berlin zoo and miso soup
I suggested to go to the zoo instead and Andrey agreed. I hadn't been to a zoo since childhood and Andrey had not seen all of it during his last visit. On top of that the weather was absolutely perfect. We took a bus to the zoo and could skip the queue because I had already bought the tickets online. The zoo was well-attended, but not overcrowded at most places. We saw many cool animals, including monkeys, owls and an elephant up close. The elephant was eating acorns and it was amazing to see such a huge animal up close. Meanwhile Andrey insisted that it would be better to have the lions closer and that petting the jaguar would in fact not be dangerous for him. I shocked him a bit with dark humour about bitten off hands or broken bones but I think he was still alright because it was compensated by some compliments about his beard.
Tumblr media
We didn't get to see a lot of the pandas and no snakes at all because they were in the aquarium for no reason, but instead we walked for quite a bit to get to some Japanese restaurant that served miso soup. We had to eat in a hurry and our plan of calling N while waiting for food did not work out. We instead called her on the way back to his apartment, where we had left my backpack. It was too short and too chaotic but better than no call at all. Thankfully we made it to the main station in time. Here we were greeted by another special kind of luck only I bring to this city: There were huge queues outside the grocery stores and we had to buy insanely pricey drinks at subway. We parted with a hug and I felt a bit sad and empty to be alone so suddenly after a whole day with such engaging company.
Tumblr media
Maybe the drunk guy at the platform thought the same, so he immediately began to follow me around and harrass me literally two minutes after Andrey had gone. This city really loves me... Thankfully I got into another train compartment than him and had a calm journey. There were no significant delays or anything on my way back - on the contrary: My acquaintance and evening show co-mod from the radio was in the same train back home and we travelled the last part together.
Dear Berlin, I had such a wonderful weekend in your city - I just wish you would show me more love. Maybe we should do couple therapy together? I would surely love to come back to see another concert and maybe say hi to Andrey once again. See you soon!

Day 43 - O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostella
(Posted the day after as too tired to finish it last night!)
We made it! We’re more than a little proud of what we have done, and I am a bit emotional too!
Tumblr media
But back to earlier today. After a much better night’s sleep Jane woke me at quarter to 6. We had decided to get going much earlier to get ahead of the crowds and left the hostel shortly after 6 in the dark.
Tumblr media
We managed to find our way back to the Camino but were then rescued by one of the American girls who gave up a top bunk a few days ago as we were starting down the wrong way. Going through the forest we had to use our phone torches for a while until it got light enough to see.
Tumblr media
We passed through fields and forests, it was all quite rural for some time.
Tumblr media
After about 4 miles we stopped for breakfast at a lovely place. The lady who owns the cafe complemented me on my Spanish, probably a bit of an exaggeration though I have got ordering breakfast down to pat now! She had spent quite a few years working in the UK in the VIP lounge at Heathrow and it was interesting hearing her story.
Tumblr media
We carried on and eventually got to a hilltop just outside Santiago that gave us a wonderful view down into the city and the cathedral.
Tumblr media
Carrying on downhill we passed and were passed by many pilgrims on their way in. Jane needed the loo which gave us a great opportunity to stop at a cafe for chocolate and churros which Jane had not experienced yet. The churros were great but we couldn’t finish the chocolate as it was so rich!
Tumblr media
Another very busy mile or so got us to the city centre. I was quite emotional thinking about the adventure being almost over. It has been something that we had talked about and planned for so long, then we were on it, then it was going to be over.
We followed the signs, then lost them as we got closer to the end, but again got directed by pilgrims who had finished. It was impossible just to follow people wearing backpacks as everyone was!
Going through an archway with a piper playing we finally entered the Plaza do Obradoiro and caught sight of the famous cathedral. Pilgrims, tourist groups, and schoolchildren filled the square and it was noisy and busy.
We found Laura and Rian who had finished a short while ago and who were sitting people watching. Rian took some great photos for us then she found a friend to take some photos of the four of us.
Tumblr media
Having had enough of the square we went with the girls to find the Pilgrims’ office to get our Compostela, our certificate. They had a QR code which led to a form to fill in. Jane was struggling to get it to work so someone inside took pity on us and told us to go on through, down some stairs then into a reception area with PCs where a nice man helped us fill in what we needed to. So we’ve all got our certificates, as well as a certificate of distance.
Tumblr media
To celebrate we found a great tapas bar for food and a few wines. We were joined by two of Rian’s Dutch friends, one of whom had walked all the way from the Netherlands!
Replete and relaxed we popped into the Tourist Office for a map, then went back down to near the Pilgrim’s office to buy our bus tickets to get to Finisterre on Thursday. The town is incredibly busy but we’ll take more time to explore tomorrow.
As we have come in a day earlier we found a hostal with a twin room for the night. It’s very close to the town centre and seems fine. Jane went to investigate the bathroom and who should pop out of the room next door but Kate (living in Canada who we met with her brother earlier in the journey). It was great to see her and to meet her daughter who had joined her to walk from Sarria.
As we were chilling we had a message from Rian to say the Cathedral was already filling up (at 6 for a 7:30 Mass), so we hot footed it up there to find standing room only! We managed to squeeze ourselves onto some steps at the back with Laura and then had a long wait.
The service started at 7:30 and even though we couldn’t understand anything we stood and sat when needed. The priest seemed very kind welcoming pilgrims from all over the world. After an hour, and right at the very end, they swung the botafumeiro, the huge incense burner. It went the whole length of the cathedral and seemed like it almost touched the roof!
Once the service had ended we went with the girls to try to find food. The streets were heaving but we eventually found an organic restaurant and I had a mini pizza and Jane a salad and sausage. We were all hanging by then so decided to call it a day.
Tomorrow we find our Airbnb and have a day being a tourist.

Part 2: Chapter 16 -
'Let's go on a shopping spree!' They said, unemployed.
Rúnda (Definition): Magical, mysterious, secret, confidential (Adjective / Origin: Old Irish / Ron·dah)
Tumblr media
“You mean to tell me that the glowing ghost of a dragon popped over for a visit to give you your stuff whilst I recovered from a near-death experience?”
I had explained to Kay the events of last night, sparing no details as I recited the story from when I went to blow out the candle, to waking up and finding my trunk and bag in the wardrobe.
“More like lunged at me and gave me a new fear of wardrobes.” I said as I folded the final top into one of the empty drawers. “It’s like Middle Earth wants us to think we’re going to die before letting us have anything nice.”
“Tell me about it.” Kay agreed as she touched the gash on her forehead that was now scabbed over.
I strained my ears to listen for Bilbo, and hearing the clanging of pots, I figured he was still in the kitchen. Making my way across the room, I whispered to Kay.
“We need to leave the dragon part out of the story when we tell Bilbo though. Can’t have him scared shitless about something that happened in his own home. And if it even was a dragon, they aren’t well received here.”
Kay nodded, returning to emptying my trunk that was unsurprisingly still overflowing with stuff I had unnecessarily packed. Almost elbow deep she pulled out a black mass, and I gasped excitedly as she threw me my Toothless teddy. I walked to the head of the bed, tucking the soft dragon into the covers, amused at the apparent dragon theme that was repeatedly appearing. Turning around, my eyes landed on Kay pulling out a small wooden chest, it’s length the about the size of a medium sized book. She side-eyed me with a stare.
“I didn’t pack that.” I stated, pointing at it.
“Sure you didn’t.”
“You think I’m gonna pack my whole witch box???”
“I wouldn’t put it past you to pack the kitchen table.” She retorted.
I dead-panned at the remark, then let out a frustrated grunt, flopping onto the bed.
“Ok you got me, but I’m serious when I said I didn’t pack the box.” I explained.
“I know, I remember watching you unpack at the hostel. Which means there could be some other things in here from our actual homes.”
I sat up as a thought came to mind. “Doesn’t that mean you’ll have extra stuff in your suitcase?”
Kay remained in thought for a moment. “It could!”
“Well then, why don’t you go and see?” I suggested.
She nodded, placing the chest down next to me before she was out the door. I reached over, picking up the maroon-stained wooden box and placing it on my lap. It looked just like how I left it, sigils and runes gently carved into the lid and sides. Sliding the two metal clasps out of their locks, I lifted the lid, peering inside.
The contents were your run-of-the-mill witch supplies, coloured candles, oils, a set of tarot cards, jars and bottles – some empty, some full – and a box containing a few of my favourite types of incense. I figured my box of herbs was hidden somewhere else among my stuff. It wasn’t anything special, considering I was in the very early stage of learning witchcraft, barely on the brink of becoming intermediate, and being an atheist your whole life brought its difficulties, because of how much my sub-consciousness would doubt any of it was real or not. But I was determined to learn, even if it was for the rest of my life.
Setting the chest down on the duvet beside me, I stood up and walked over to the trunk sitting open on the floor. I then spent the next half-hour or so rummaging through and organising everything that was left. During that time, I had discovered the small box of herbs, filled with corked jars and miniature bags of every herb and plant I could find. Alongside it had been my Grimoire and Book of Shadows, now relieved that I could continue my journey of learning and be able to document it. I flicked through the pages, glancing at my loopy handwriting smudged with ink splotches until I landed on the ones that were yet to be filled. Snapping them shut, I locked the clasp on one and tied the band around the other, hiding them away in the bottom drawer of my bedside table. Though I knew that Bilbo would find them eventually – probably whilst he was putting washing away or dusting.
Admiring the now empty floor, I let out a satisfied hum and exited the bedroom. Arriving at the kitchen, I saw Bilbo in the same setting I had found him last night – his hands protected by a tea towel as he poured steaming tea into cups – but this time he was surrounded by plates loaded with an English Breakfast (or whatever the people of Middle Earth called it here).
Breakfast flew by, and we both told Bilbo about how my things had appeared overnight, purposely leaving out the ghost creature. I wasn’t officially sure whether or not it was a dragon, but its features closely resembled one, so I automatically went with calling it one.
We cleared up, and Bilbo announced that we were heading over to Gladiola Greenfoot’s place, whom he had mentioned during our first morning here.
“We’re going to see if Mrs Greenfoot is willing to measure you both up and sew you a couple outfits.” He explained. “And you can offer some kind if service in return.”
“Are you sure?” Kay asked. “Because our clothes should do us fine.”
“They’ll do you good until Mrs Greenfoot’s finished, because then you’ll both fit in easier.”
I nodded in agreement, remembering how easily tarnished our Earth clothes became after only one day of hiking in the rain. As we walked into the entrance hall, I looked for our shoes, only to find them missing.
“Uh, Bilbo?” He hummed in response. “Where are our shoes?”
His mouth made an o shape as he recalled what he had done earlier. “Ah, I uhh, put them away. You won’t be needing those things around here, barefoot should be just fine.”
We blinked in surprise.
“But our feet –” I lifted my foot up, showing the smooth sole underneath. “They’re not as tough as yours, and they’re way more sensitive so it’ll hurt if we step on anything sharp.”
Bilbo stared as if he had never seen a human foot in his life, before replying. “Well you should be fine, it’s mostly grass and you should get used to the dirt and stones in no time. Saves you both even more strange looks if you were to wear those shoe-things anyway.”
Kay and I looked at each other incredulously, wondering what had gotten into the hobbit. I let out a sigh and relented, Kay following not soon after. With a grin Bilbo strode towards the door, swinging it open and marched out into the warm early autumn sun. Not bothering to put on any more layers – due to the warm temperature – we both trailed after Bilbo, preparing ourselves for any sharp object that would eventually find its way underfoot.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
“Bilbo Baggins! What in Yavanna’s name have you done now?!”
Bilbo cringed at the taut voice of Gladiola as he neared her hobbit hole, the hobbit calling out to him through the open front window. Disappearing out of sight, she quickly appeared again as she swung the yellow circular door open and marched out into the front garden until she reached the fence.
She was the embodiment of your stereotypical female hobbit. A short but full and curvy body, along with a round face framed by light brown curls that were half-tied up – though not too round to where it complimented her sharper, light brown eyes and brows. But despite the scowl on her face, her smile lines were still prominent along with the fresh wrinkles that had begun to show her aging. She was adorned in a simpler outfit compared to the frills and pleats of the upper class lady-hobbits that lived near Bilbo. A dusky maroon underskirt was half-hidden by a floral patterned gown that reminded Kate of marigolds and straw, ending about six inches above the underskirt. The top layer was a comfortable looking, tan-brown bodice, laced up with ribbon, along with a shawl tied loosely around her shoulders, the maroon colour matching the underskirt.
“I haven’t done anything!” Bilbo cried in protest.
“You call that ‘not doing anything?’” She jabbed a short finger in our direction. “Look at the two of them! The poor girls are barely clothed!”
The girls heads raised from where Kate was trying to pry a stone that had embedded itself in her foot, then looked back down at their clothes confusedly, wondering why a simple pair of loose, baggy joggers and oversized T-shirts were considered barely clothed. That was, until they remembered where they were.
“And why are they covered in cuts and bruises?!” Gladiola scolded, gesturing at the two again. “Honestly Bilbo, I can’t leave you for a minute otherwise you’d end up wandering off to marry some orc or dwarf or whatever those adventures bring!”
“Mrs Greenfoot!” Poor Bilbo protested, his ears and face flushing a rosy pink. “Dr Noakesburrow has already seen to them, and they’re healing just fine! I brought them here to see if you would help with them settling in. They’ll be staying for a while with me, you see – shelter in exchange for work and chores.”
“I see.” Gladiola raised an eyebrow. “I can only guess you’re here to get them clothes?”
Bilbo nodded whilst letting out an exasperated sigh. “Yes, please.” He breathed, relieved that the conversation had veered to what he wanted in the first place. “Though they haven’t got any money to give you, so they’re willing to repay you in work hours.”
Mrs Greenfoot stood silent for a moment as she pondered the possibilities. Turning to the girls, she spoke.
“Are you two any good at looking after kids?” She asked, the demanding tone in her voice causing the girls to stand at full attention. They both nodded. “And how long are you staying to do it?”
“As long as you need.” Kay replied, a polite smile on her face.
The hobbit turned back towards Bilbo and gave him a pointed look. “And are you willing to let them stay for as long as I need them?” He also nodded.
“Alright then!” Mrs Greenfoot clapped her hands together, causing the other three to jump slightly. “It’s settled! Bilbo, go fetch us some of that tea leaves from Bree at the market.” She beckoned the girls towards her with a warm smile that contrasted the stern expression she had earlier.
“Let’s get you both measured up.”

LUCID STRANGERS
This is a dream that I had and it took place at my former High School known as Oshigambo
I would say the scenery was a rough version of the tree of love that was opposite the basketball court, which was adjacent to the girls hostel and tangent to it was the soccer field.
It was a vivid extravagant as I was rendezvousing atop a tree socializing with what appears to be two dogs one that seemed too intelligent to be regarded as a dog in terms of persona and one that was an everyday k-nine.
What can I say, even in this astral plane Oshigambo did not fall short of being a vibe and the atmosphere held great potential of promise as the most intriquite and unique learners were having a blast at doing nothing in particular.
While I seemed to engage with the wise k-nine.The lesser dog seemed to take advantage of my presence by nibbling harshly at my feet surely resulting in me sushing it away.
So there I was swaying on the tree of love before glimpsing at what might have been a guardian angel in a form of a learner minding her own business.
As she came closer to where I was I further noticed her light skin tone , vigilant while rather innocent clear white eyes and sport like physique was magnificent, from afar she had short hair but as she came close I could see the high frequency purple dye in her braids that flawlessly matched her complextion.
What can I say it's like the thirst my eyes had was instantly quenched and I longed to see nothing else and yet I wanted to see more of her gaze which would be compared to front row seats that only her closest of friends got the delicacy to witness.
I can tell she needn't put much effort in her looks As she paraded around the vicinity unoticed, but it was as if my eyes were peircing beyond the physical veil and were observing an underated personality, surely if this was a trap I would have been caught off guard by an innocently timid soul.
Knowing I could not let this intriguigness go untethered,I approached her and seeing that sport might be a subject of interest I inquired if they are any games on today with which she replied with a sensational flamboyance yet with all earnesty, truly a gaze of her conversing is remarkable.
So there I am in the dreamland of my former school visiting the basketball court, checking out the soccer field and seeing that everything is in its place I was surely at peace.
Thus I made my way to the large crowd that was in the distance, seemed like they were whispers of a surprise guest later in the day, unfamiliar with none of these people walking around them at what was nearly a two hundred and forty degree arc,my mind went blank and thoughtless.
As I was making my way back to the tree of love ,there she was,the one who caught my attention, making her way to the boring place I was retrieving from.Need I not mention that at that point I had totally forgotten about her untill the instance that were were about to cross paths that it all came back to me.
Surely were she was headed was short of anything interesting so I had to save her from such despair. As we neared I gazed straight past her eyes and into her soul without a word she fell into my arms and it felt like it wasn't a dream when our lips collided.
The End
