Sitting at Ric’s desk, Stefan’s head sank down briefly, his hand meeting his chin as he waited for someone to show up; anybody to show up. He couldn’t believe that he’d been tricked into this by Elena -- a human outsmarted him. Damn Cassius and his compulsion and damn Elena for doing this to him. Once he was a free vampire once more, he’d have some choice words for the brunette. It didn’t take long for him to hear the sound of footsteps down the hallway and he hoped it was someone who would get him out of this situation. Or, at least, if it was someone he could compel, it would turn out in his favor. All he needed was one gullible human to break the line of mountain ash and he’d be a free man. “Please tell me you’re here to release me.” Stefan murmured, more so to himself than to the other.

     It was like getting punched in the chest. It wasn't the most romantic thought or feeling she ever had, but as her brown eyes landed on Damon Salvatore, it was exactly what she felt. Like getting round house kicked in the chest. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't think, she simply stood there, her mouth gaping open for a moment as she soaked it in. How plausible was it that he was actually there? Was she dreaming? Elena Gilbert finally sucked in a breathe, his name falling from her lips. "Damon?" She didn't wait for him to answer, just the shift of his head, the way he recognized his name was enough, and before she even thought of it she ran. Her feet barely hit the ground, her long hair a trail of messy curls that she hadn't bothered to style behind her, her body flinging itself at him. Arms wrapping around his neck, her face buried in his neck, tears in her eyes as she squeezed them shut and she pressed her lips against his firmly, passionately. She couldn't not kiss him. Real or not, she never thought she'd see him again. "How are you here?" She finally mumbled, her hands in his hair as she finally pulled away. Everything was so overwhelming, her teary eyes scanning his face, taking all of him in. He was here. She could feel him, hear him, talk to him again. It was a miracle.
