saw an article this afternoon titled ‘sonic the hedgehog fans want to see maria die in the third movie’ and you know what? yeah, a lot of us do, and for good reason.

one of the most important things about maria’s death is that it’s not just a death for the sake of death. she doesn’t die for no reason. her death makes sense within the canon of sa2 as a self contained story. even if shadow actually died at the end of that game like originally planned and we never got to see more of his backstory, never got a more fleshed out past for him, maria’s death would still make sense. it doesn’t come out of nowhere and have no actual impact on the characters or story like a lot of other side character deaths.

maria’s death shapes shadow as a character in sa2 and shadow the hedgehog 2005, it causes him to make the decisions he makes, gives him his motives, his drive, his worldview. shadow may have been physically made in a lab by gerald robotnik and black doom, but he was built and shaped emotionally and mentally by maria and her death. he has the opinions he has about the world and humanity because of maria’s death at the hands of the gun soldiers, and he takes certain actions because of those views. he saves rouge in sa2 because he couldn’t save maria, at the end of the same game he sacrifices himself for the safety of the planet and the life on it because of the promise he made to her before she died.

maria’s death isn’t just important to shadow’s character and story either, it contributes to more within the full canon of the franchise. it’s because of maria’s death that gerald robotnik makes the ark head towards the planet so that, even beyond the grave, he can have his revenge, he can avenge his granddaughter. it’s because of maria’s death that shadow is able to change his opinions and views later on, in spite of his trauma and history, and can work with sonic to defeat the biolizard and help save the world. not to mention, it’s because of maria that shadow exists in the first place, it wouldn’t make sense to end their story together without actually seeing her die.

most fans probably haven’t seen maria actually die anyway. sure, they may have seen the original animation planned for shadow the hedgehog 2005, or the censored static version in the final game, or may have seen the scene in sa2 (I believe) where she sends shadow to earth, but for the most part, fans have not seen maria’s actual death, only the moments before. in recent years, it’s become a rule of storytelling that viewers shouldn’t believe a character is dead until they see a body or the moment the character dies. if they really want to send the message that maria is dead, that people do get affected by things that happen in the sonic franchise story, if they want this to hit as hard as it should, then fans need to see that maria is dead without a doubt.

in other vein, the sonic movies are to reignite old love for the franchise and to introduce younger people to sonic. these younger and newer fans aren’t likely to know the full story of the games if they’re just being introduced to sonic now. they deserve to know the full story the same as the game fans do, even if the timeline has become incredibly convoluted and it’s difficult to tell just what games, comic series, etc. are canon, and considering that (at least as far as I know) the movies are reasonably close to game canon while tweaking some things appropriately for the different setting (ie., introducing tom, maddie, wade, stone, etc. and making them actual, at least semi-important characters, changing robotnik’s motives in the first movie, stuff like that), so it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to suddenly divert from something so important in game canon.

personally, I’m also part of the camp who want to see shadow portrayed the way he was back in sa2, not his more recent characterisation. since the second movie treated knuckles with the respect that sega has lacked for a while, and showed him more in line with his original portrayal - naive and misplacing his trust in robotnik, a proud warrior who knows what he’s doing for the most part, a character with his own responsibilities and drive and trauma, someone with an actual personality who isn’t just there to be the comedic punching bag - it isn’t too much to ask for shadow to be treated the same, is it? sure, he was never the most kind character in the franchise, but he also wasn’t originally just the edgy asshole of the group who didn’t actually like anyone. his friendships meant a lot to him back then, with maria and later with rouge and omega. we want to see shadow have actual emotions, real motives, and showing maria’s death as it happened instead of censoring it too heavily or cutting away so we don’t see it at all would remove any possibility of that.

shadow himself is such an important character in the sonic franchise canon. not including his main drive and motive, not fully telling his story and fleshing him out properly like everyone else in the movies, would not only make no sense, but would also be a huge slap in the face for shadow and his fans.

there are some brilliant videos out there that talk about shadow’s character, motives, development, etc. in more detail and better than I could, so I’ll be leaving a couple here for anyone who’s interested.

tl;dr: shadow’s story hinges on maria’s death, and if we don’t actually get to see that happen, then the third movie and shadow’s involvement in it will not have as much of an effect as they should. shadow deserves the same respect the other established sonic characters got.

I'm manifesting for season 2 of OPLA to have a scene where both Usopp and Sanji try to comfort each other when Nami is sick, because they don't want another important woman in their lives to die, and they both talk about their moms and how much they missed them

- Jacob Gibson Romero needed more moments in the first season, but damn if he was so IC and the last scene of the first Usopp's episode... I cried a lot (especially after knowing he also lost his mother before filming) -

Damn I WISH OPLA gave Usopp some scenes. Not even in character atp. Just. Scenes. That'd be great. Because he barely does anything in the first season and I couldn't care less about the Live Action but Jacob is a very talented actor who obviously cares about his character and resonates with Usopp, and the little attention they're giving him (and out of character, too, by the way) is insane. If they give us a scene between Sanji and Usopp talking about Nami and their mothers I will be so damn happy. I truly need them to study their characters more in season 2.

Innamorati’s guardian, Dottore, was a scientist who specialized in human studies and biology. In order to further his research, he decided to buy a pet human.

This pet human was a girl, one who was quite beautiful and could be described as an angel. With curly black hair and fair skin, Dottore took a liking to her quickly. Not only was she adorable, she was intelligent, and able to learn materials far more advanced than most of other pet humans.

While Dottore still desired to learn about humans, he decided from that point that she was no longer a research subject but an assistant he can teach. He even started to view her as a daughter.

However, due to her intellect, she was held away from the rest of the pet humans. She was constantly with aliens who were disgusted at the idea of a human being allowed to be educated on their research. While Dottore tried his best, she felt alone and depressed. In order to pull her out of her slump, he got her a human for her own.

She named the child Innamorati, out of hopes that the name will ensure Innamorati to a fate where he will never be alone.

However she wasn’t able to stay with Innamorati for much longer, as one day when attending one of the Alien Stage rounds, rebels broke in and recovered many humans, however just as humans were saved, many were also shot dead, even if they were innocent. The guards could not tell as it was a massive rebel attack.

Dottore and Innamorati both lost her that day.

Dottore found himself to be in a depressive mess after her loss. And Innamorati’s presence wasn’t helping. Out of grief, he began to force Innamorati to wear the clothes she once wore at his age, even calling him by her name. But Innamorati didn’t look like her, sound like her, or even act like her. She was intelligent and mature. He was childish and was more interested on drawing instead of working.

He began to despise Innamorati, resenting him for even existing. “Why did she die, yet her useless pet lives?” He would often yell. When he would, Innamorati would cry, unable to do anything else. This only enraged Dottore much more, to the point he would lock Innamorati up in a room far away from his lab.

One day in the lab, he came up with an idea. He would try to create a daughter that was basically a clone of her. But there was a twist he wanted to add. He wanted to create an alien, who looked and acted like a human.

Was it even possible? many of his co workers asked. But none tried to stop him. He was a grieving father, best to let him mourn, they told each other.

But somehow, it had finally worked. He had created an alien hybrid. One that mimiced humans yet biologically was an alien. The child he had created was fragile, due to having a weak exterior of human skin. But he didn’t care. This was finally his child, he had her back (she’s never coming back)

When Innamorati had heard the news, he was excited. He wanted to protect the new child, and be there for her like an older brother. Maybe he would finally be able to prove himself to Dottore, and maybe he wouldn’t be alone much longer.

But Dottore refused him to be able to see the new child at all. Saying she was too fragile and weak, but he had another idea in store for Innamorati.

“You want to comfort her, correct?” He asked, already knowing the answer. “Singing is very comforting to children you know.”

Innamorati didn’t understand what Dottore meant, but he nodded his head. Dottore only chuckled, a sinister tone took over the room, as while Innamorati had no idea yet, but Dottore had planned to put Innamorati into Alien Stage, to finally get rid of him.

FUN FACTS!!!

- Inna hates being called Innamorati! Only Dottore and Macbeth have called him by his full name.

- Inna carries around a scrapbook filled with drawings and pictures he finds interestinf as well as book quotes he likes. This is so he can show his little sister when he graduates Anakt Garden.

- When alone in the room, he’d hum to himself often, replaying the song that was playing prior to the rebel attack

- Inna’s favorite story is The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevesky.

- The first story he wrote was one that was meant for his little sister. He never got to tell it to her, but he was able to tell it to Nene ( @junebluues )

- He’s particularly close with Nene because of how excited he was to meet a little sister. Part of him wishes Nene was his real sister and then feels bad about it

- He never knew the names of his younger and older sisters. Dottore never told him

The Fleek Family

Floyd please to stop crying for two seconds you're ruining the updated family portrait-

FLEEK FAMILYYY!! Don't worry Floyd's only crying cuz he's not ready for both his babies to be grown up he wants them to stay babies forever!

When Floyd and Creek were down in the Depths, the two didn't think they were ever getting out. So when their relationship progressed rather quickly, and lived briefly with the Original Trolls, the two actually eloped! So when they DID find a way out, Floyd not only had to reintroduce Creek to Troll society, but had to introduce him as his newly-minted husband! Yeah that was rough day lol

Floyd and Creek were actually the first of the fam (aside Bruce) to start having kids. When Floyd found out he was carrying an egg, the two were over the moon about it, but scared as well. With Floyd's weakened physical state, his hair couldn't wrap around the egg properly, requiring him to manually incubate it, along with Creek's help. Rosebud did hatch a bit prematurely, but with lots of care, she grew up to be strong and healthy.

Now Snowdrop is where things get interesting. When Rosebud was eight years old, she found a small, white egg abandoned out in the woods after a huge snowstorm. When she brought it into the house, Floyd and Creek immediately raced it to a hospital. The egg was weak and cold, and the doctors told them outright itd be lucky to survive. But Floyd and Creek were stubborn, and did EVERYTHING they could to save it. And it worked! The egg hatches, revealing a solid white, Original Troll. They're not sure how an original egg made it to the surface, but they scooped them up anyway and raised them as their own, naming them Snowdrop.

In present day, the whole family still lives together out on the outskirts of Trollstopia, in the more rural areas of the city on a large ranch (think stardew valley). Floyd is a motherhen from hell who's constantly doting on his babies, making sure they dress warmly when they leave, asking if they ate breakfast that morning, fussing whenever they come home with any injury whatsoever (Which is mainly Rosebud cuz she's out there fighting criminals lol), while Creek just laughs in the background. He'd say something but he knows his kids love the attention and worrying keeps Floyd happy so he just let's it happen

(mgv) it is very easy to incorrectly assume that giselle doesn't care outside of herself, particularly when she's small. kids are jerks sometimes, they think they're the only person to matter, that's just how it is and even house accepted that his kid's probably gonna get some asshole behavior from him anyway and doesn't make excuses for her. "of course she's selfish, she's three." etc

and it's not like she's particularly expressive. her default expression is analytical, she's utterly content by herself with a modest little assortment of toys she decides are Today's Toys while the rest are ignored + her little whiteboard that never leaves her side when in the diagnostics office.

then there's a bad pain day. house is at his desk, craving vicodin that he's starting to think he may always struggle with (he's an addict, obviously. but now that he has a pup, he's starting to reassess his stance on him having a problem, too) and giselle is sat at his feet, leaning against his good leg. he pages kutner to collect her -- thirteen and chase are busy doing their jobs and wilson is in a meeting -- and make him play funny babysitter so his kid doesn't have to watch one of her parents deteriorate waiting for his not-good-enough drugs to kick in.

but when kutner reaches for her, she bites him. not a corrective nip like she has before but an actual growl and bite. it's more startling than anything. and while kutner and house are both reeling, giselle scrambles to sit securely between house's legs, back straight, her little baby growls as steadfast as she can manage it, and dark eyes narrowed up at kutner in challenge. he figures out what's up with the sudden behavioral change before house does, mostly because the pain is making it hard for him to think so all he was really doing was blinking down at her in abject wonder anyway.

"i think she's...... trying to protect you."

on instinct, house trills down at her as if to ask if that's true or not, but giselle has tuned them out. now he can see, though, that in moving, she's put herself between kutner and house's bad leg. it throws his hindbrain off, too, since... he's the parent. he's supposed to protect her, not the other way around. not like he can hide the fact that he's very much physically disabled and is constantly in pain, but still he feels like he's failed her if he inspires her instincts enough to put herself in theoretical danger for him.

and kutner proves once again to be smarter than house gives him credit for, because he goes on. "that's not really a bad thing. she loves you and is still too young to realize she's not invincible so if she sees you're having a hard time, it's totally reasonable for her to fend off any perceived threat. like someone outside of the realm of 'family' or 'pack'."

"what were you doing when i paged you?" house asks after letting that perspective Sink In for a second.

"clinic duty?"

"yeah, go back to doing that."

"you sure? 'cuz i don't mind the biting, she didn't even break the skin--"

"go."

one of the hands house had been using to grasp at his thigh starts combing through giselle's curls, idly noting in the back of his mind that she's due for a trim soon. she relaxes a bit, back to silence now that kutner's gone again. he pretends the tears trying to roll down his cheeks are of relief now that his leg pain miraculously dampens to a manageable level. "protect me, huh?" she doesn't respond, only leans into his hand like a cat. "you... really are your abba's daughter, aren't you?"

gomez!master is by far the best one of nuwho and I will NOT hear otherwise. she feels so much like delgado!master in that her motivations are not exclusively world domination. even before her redemption arc in s10, she has a complex agenda of her own and sometimes that means her goals align with those of the doctor’s. i love seeing the master team up with companions it’s my absolute favorite thing. her dynamic with clara is absolutely fascinating and i find the “i want my friend back” motivation to be five million times more interesting than the “i want to Destroy You Forever” motivation or whatever it was that dhawan!master had going on
