Do you own any Looney Tunes production art?
i’m incredibly fortunate enough to say that I DO!! i own this wonderful photostat model sheet from Porky the Wrestler!
Tumblr media
a photostat is essentially the ‘30s equivalent of a photocopy, so it’s not THE actual model sheet drawing, but it was still in the hands of at least one of the animators who worked on the short! if you hold it at a certain angle and get the light to reflect off of it, there are actually some indentations of writing, as if someone was writing on a piece of paper on top of it… and of course the hooves and side snout drawn in marker which aren’t meant to be there (maybe it was a slow work day?)
i actually still haven’t gotten it framed, i need to… but i also just really enjoy being able to hold it in my hands and try and make out the writing indentations on top and also lose my mind at Oh My God Someone In The Tex Avery Unit Touched This At One Point. plus, the material is glossy/has a cardboard sort of feel to it (like a more sturdy printed photograph) so it’s not as delicate as animation paper and gets along fine sitting on my shelf as is HAHA. still, definitely want to find a proper means of displaying it sometime!

I'm always in this weird cycle where I feel nice and start trying my best and try to Help and I post like ^-^ !!! and it doesn't hurt until it all opens up again like, something really strange and repulsive under my skin. And I don't exactly have anywhere to go, or anyone to go to. Not by anybody's fault, of course. I just feel like I'd rather pop like a balloon into confetti than actually talk about it. Which is why writing little things is so good, until it isnt, because writing is communication and communication makes me feel like I'm on fire. So I start to get angry at it.
I realize this isn't the most healthy cycle, but my only way out is actually not practical despite how tempting it is. I Type and Untype lyrics on my social media and never post them when I can't use my words. Sometimes I type big things, paragraphs about everything in detail where I use big, scary, accurate words that would undoubtably get caught in blacklists instead of using analogies. And then I delete those, too.
But I think the point is, it feels weird to use this account to vent. This is where I post fanfiction which is already dangerously cringe enough. What right do I have to come in here, plop down on the carpet, tilt my head toward the ceiling and start wailing like a damn toddler?

just want to say this is an impressive work of mug scholarship
and that I'm probably not qualified to write it but I hope there's a story where Steve visits the trailer during a peaceful time and is like... why do you guys have all those mismatched mugs hanging up on the wall (because at his house everything matches or it's Out) and Eddie is like EXCUSE YOU every one of those mugs has a Significance and a Story attached to it, this is a family history, and proceeds to relate the story for any mug Steve points out (with gestures, character voices and sound effects)
to the end of his days Steve isn't sure whether those were real pre-existing stories or Eddie was making them up on the spot because he's good at improvising but either way it was enjoyable to listen to his tales
maybe at some point when he's pretty much a fixture there Steve brings in a mug he chose and diffidently asks if there could be room for one for the story of how he and Eddie met.
Eddie (banging a nail into the wall): there is now

Interesting stuff: Crocheted a coaster for my cup. This is Yeezhee's Floral Coaster Crochet Kit. I followed the video to finish this. I think it's perfect for crochet beginners.

Surprise bonus piece I made for my half of an art trade with @whitewingedcrow.
I had new vinyl and a different sandblaster with different sand to test out before working on the actual art trade (this thing) to make sure I wasn't going to inadvertently mess up the stone via use of inadequate materials. The sand was a lot coarser than what I was used to, and it chewed through my regular vinyl way too quickly to be usable, so I was trying out different vinyls to find one that would stand up to it. Already had the vector file for this right there, as well as some scrap glass, so I just rolled with it out of convenience.
End verdict: the extra-strong vinyl is strong enough to handle the more aggressive blasting medium, but only works well on flat surfaces. Anything with a curve it will lift up at the edges due to the added thickness making it more rigid. It also can't handle small details well, so while it worked fine for the pictured example, it sucked when I scaled it down. The coarse sand is great if you want to strip paint or rust off of something, but was much too aggressive for my purposes. Final piece was done using thinner vinyl and another sandblaster with finer sand.
The little circles around the edge are anti-skid rubber feet.
