Hi, Spider!
I have a fun question.
In August, I'm going to be attending a wedding. Husbff is the best man, and Tiny Human is the ring bearer.
I've put together an outfit that mimics the suits worn by the wedding party (navy blue pinstripe pants and vest and a white shirt), with the bride's knowledge and approval.
The bride is concerned that her parents may not be on their best behavior toward queer friends and guests, so she's given me permission to be as outrageous and QUEER as I like. If they're going to cause a problem, better that it happen before the big day.
As a member of the extended wedding party, I'm expected to attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The dress code is more casual than the actual ceremony. I'm not sure how to queer it up at a casual dinner. Any advice?
Suspenders go on jeans or other casual pants. I wear suspenders with pretty much everything. I like these for pants that don't have purpose-built buttons:
Personally, I love colorful socks for a little extra zhush on an outfit, and here I think a great choice might be from fellow PDX business @sockdreams:
You can't go wrong with adding a pronoun pin, of course, and even better if it glitters:
For that matter, if I'm going to recommend my own stuff, I might as well point out that if you don't want to go the suspenders route, you can't go wrong with a button-up shirt:
You know, maybe something really subtle:

Kindle Book Download - The Faster Way
So I saw a post on Tumblr yesterday, which I am sorry I cannot find again. It was talking about how Kindle are removing the download ability on the 26th Feb and one response mentioned a Tampermonkey script to help with downloading all of our Kindle books. If someone can point me to the post, I will credit the person who mentioned it - thank you.
Well the script makes it about half as frustrating to download everything as the only way Kindle provide it and it took me a while to figure out how to use it, so I thought I would elaborate. I went from being able to do 8 pages of books in a day, to doing 37 - I have another 20 to go.
Tampermonkey is a plugin for the browser which allows a script to be run to alter the page - spent a good hour trying to work out how to run the script because I thought Tampermonkey was the name of the author or something😆 . It can be found here: https://www.tampermonkey.net/
There is an FAQ about how to install it here, along with how to install scripts: https://www.tampermonkey.net/faq.php
The script to alter the Amazon download page is here: https://github.com/chrishol/greasemonkey-scripts/blob/main/download-all-kindle-books.js
The script puts a button at the top of the page on the right that says "Trigger Download" (seen in green below)
Tumblr media
This button when pressed will do all the button presses for the downloads for you so you don't have to click everything yourself. All you have to do is confirm the save to your computer.
On my PC I can set it going, wait for the first save to come up, then click away and leave it for about 3 mins while I'm doing other things and then click save 25 times once it's done. Others have to click the save after 8-10 saves have been queued up or it sits there just waiting - not sure why, but it happens.
If the script does not work and the button does not appear for you after you have told Tampermonkey to run on the page, check the line in the top of the code that starts with
// @ match (no space after the @ in the actual script)
Tumblr media
The script is set up for Amazon.com, so if you are on Amazon.co.uk like me, or another of the Amazon sites, you will need to edit this, to have the right amazon in the URL.
E.g. mine looks like: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/mycd/digital-console/contentlist/booksAll/*
The rest of the URL will be exactly the same.
The match line is basically telling the script what page the script should run on.
Also of note - in the code it allows you to change which Kindle device you are picking in the list if you have more than one. If your Kindle is first in the list, you're all set. If not, scroll down to line #77 until you find this part and follow the instructions in the comment:
clickElementWithin(dropdown, 'span[id^="download_and_transfer_list_"]'); // Choose the first Kindle in list // If you want the second Kindle in the list, change the above line to this instead (for the third, you'd change the [1] to [2] and so on): // dropdown.querySelectorAll('span[id^="download_and_transfer_list_"]')[1].click();
Tumblr media
And those are the only things that tripped me up - so happy downloading. Hope it all works as well for you as it is working for me.

Book review time!
Far in the future, in a galaxy not so far away…
Starquest was sold to me as a loving homage to Star Wars, but a fresh and renewed approach to the theme; as a fan of both Star Wars and the author, I had to try it. I had high expectations, but was still blown away. The prologue alone got me hooked on the first book; Book 1 got me hooked on the series.
The theme is Space Opera more than it is Science Fiction. Theoretically, the spaceships and supertechnology have a hand-wavey physical explanation. But the author does not waste your time explaining them, as the priority is the finer things in stories: Adventure, Romance, Revenge, Pirates, Space Princesses, and the Annihilation of Entire Planets.
The setting is clearly inspired by Star Wars, and when the narrative describes Recent Historical Events you will hear some familiar story beats. Fortunately, the author has a creative imagination and made the setting his own. There is much that has no parallel in Star Wars; the robots, for example, are much like the robots from Isaac Asimov, but inventors have managed to jailbreak them to circumvent or add their own programming. This lets the author put in backstory plots and setting details - the Rebels had developed a Liberty Code to give robots the free will to disobey orders, the Empire had retaliated by purging their navigator-bots - which would have been impossible if the author merely reskinned the setting by renaming everything.
Instead, the author gave himself the freedom to recreate the theme of Space Opera, but in his own way. Even those things that are similar to Star Wars get a fresh and unique feel, so it never felt like I was re-reading something I’ve already heard before. Since he is a master of the craft, the result is a gripping adventure.
The heroes are really heroic, and also Way Cool. Chapter 1 opens with Athos Lone of Star Patrol infiltrating a pirate ship alone by crawling inside a rocket engine and cutting a hole in the side. Then, he must sneak through the ship undetected, climbing on the ceilings with use of an ancient Mask of a long-dead mariner, whose death-mask gives the wearer his strength and stamina. And, because he was a lion-man, it also gives the wearer lightsaber claws.
The Evil Empire is really evil, and also Way Cool. Chapter 5 begins with the Empire accepting a planet’s surrender by landing a dreadnought on top of the capital city, crushing the former government buildings and anybody who didn’t manage to evacuate. Then the ship lifts off and blasts the rubble to slag… which forms a nice, flat parade ground, and the legions march out for the military demonstration.
You will not find hamfisted lectures about contemporary political topics. What political narratives there are, are fit into the setting proper, and are never overbearing. “Evil Empires are Bad, Liberty is Good, but the newly formed Commonwealth must prove it can keep the peace, let’s go on an adventure.”
“Space Pirates of Andromeda” was the most fun I’ve had reading in years. I eagerly look forward to the sequels.

But when she discovers a genetic sequence that doesn’t match any known database, her research pulls her into an enigma far deeper than she ever imagined. As her life and mind become entwined with ancient symbols, disturbing dreams, and buried secrets, Elena confronts a terrifying truth: the genetic code may be the key to realities that defy logic and human understanding.
Accompanied by Daniel, a neuroscientist marked by his obsession with control, and a team of researchers, Elena finds herself caught in a web of global conspiracies, clandestine genetic manipulations, and mysteries that could alter the fate of humanity. As the boundaries between what is real and what is possible blur, Elena must decide how far she is willing to go to uncover the truth... and what she is willing to sacrifice in the process.

S.
I was just randomly reminded of this and felt I needed to share:
If you are looking for a book that is more than a book—it’s also an experience—give this a shot. But fair warning, it will take a lot of effort and time to get the full experience. If you’re the kind who likes to get wrapped up in stories and projects and mysteries, this one’s for you.
It’s co-written by JJ Abrams, aka Star Trek, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Lost, to name a few.
I would describe this book as the adult (but not explicit or anything like that) version of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
This book is essentially a “library book” that has been annotated by two people. So there’s the literal “book” story, plus the story of the people annotating.
My hint to you is that this is a book that is best read out of order. There are different colors of “text,” and part of the experience is figuring out what order to read everything in. When I read this book, I read it cover to cover 3-4 times, but each read, you’d read a different color of text. You don’t read the book in its entirety that many times, you’re just going back and reading certain text on your second read, third read, etc.
So for instance, on your third read, you’d start at p. 1 and read maybe a few sentences on that page, then turn the page and read a few more sentences or words. Some pages you won’t even read at all, depending on what read you’re on.
If you make the mistake of reading every page as it is, you won't understand it, like the majority of my class in college. I think I was the only one who read it "correctly," to the point that the other students and the professor were asking ME questions about the story. You gotta read it correctly or you’ll hate it.
Lastly, the real kicker is that there are several codes that the two readers solve in the course of the story. And, at least in my opinion, it's implied that there is one more code that they never cracked.
Give it a shot! It’s one of the coolest reading experiences I’ve ever had, and it really pushes the boundaries of what constitutes a “book” and storytelling. I actually don’t know why this isn’t more famous—it may be that it’s too much work for most people 😂 But I promise it’s worth it.
If you read this book and struggle figuring out the order of the colored text and need help, message me. I have copious notes from when I read this in college.

We bought a collar for Wybie that came with a qr code pet finder tag! Wybie probably won't be going out with us much, so it has been claimed by Lumpkin, who goes with us everywhere these days.
We attached it to a claw clasp so we can attach it to whatever accessory he is wearing when we go out.
The only pet options were cat or dog, so he is now an honorary dog. From the app we can see locations the tag has been scanned at!

This is why, so many people advised my generation (I'm about 40) "not to go to school if we didn't understand what we were getting out of it."
There were also many who were not aware of the price of tuition trend who advised me to go, working off nothing more than the average earning power of every level of education. (I'm not going to say some degrees are worthless, because that is not true. But some degrees are overrepresented compared to positions available and some are underrepresented.)
A surprising number of available positions are considered "High School Diploma required" but since many high schools have turned into college prep schools instead of high schools, and therefore no longer teach machine shop or welding or basic electrical work to the level of certification anymore. It's gotten to the point that there's no point in going to high school either.
Go down to your library, or used bookstore, (or amazon.com) and find some technical manuals in whatever subject you want jewellery making, or welding, or beekeeping. Or go down to your county courthouse and find the building inspector's office, and buy a copy of the building code, and just read it.
It won't give you practice doing any of the techniques, but you'll have an idea of the range of skills it would take to be competent in the field. Give you a lot more information about which fields you might want to get into or stay out of than you might get any other way. Then walk into a place of business like that, get a summer internship, look around for who's having the most fun, and find out what it takes to have that position, (education-wise, certification-wise, stress levels, work/life balance-wise, etc), whether you still want it / and think you can manage that. etc.
And the ridiculous part is that technical education(STEM) is exactly how we won the world wars and the Cold War, we know that's what it takes to keep the standard of living moving forward, but we've let two or three generations of youth see that banking and investing, instead of being a basic utility that is meant to lubricate industry for everyone, turn into a many-tentacled leach monster that is sucking it all dry. And when there weren't enough banking jobs available, and not enough people willing to say, investing (not speculating) is actually hard tedious work, but mostly just takes a lot of algebra, here's Securities Analysis 2nd Edition by Graham and Dodd. The Bible of Investing.
Or you can learn calculus and business communication and go into Engineering. Or statistics and go into biology. or both and go into Physics.
But no, of course not, you don't need to learn anything, just buy whatever feels right without doing market research on how you're going to help people with it and lose your shirt in crypto or college debt.
It's not the bank's fault that the car salesman is predatory, nor the car salesman's fault that banks are predatory, but together you cannot trust them.
Same with colleges and banks.
Colleges ought to be saying, Don't trust banks, use this worksheet to calculate the real cost of borrowing money, against the real cost of taking longer to finish your degree if you just take night school. Etc. (Do you already have a job that would allow you to take night school or whatever? How much is that salary?) How much farther ahead or behind will you be at the end of each year for ten years?
The speech I heard for my college orientation went like this: You are all here because you like learning, and you don't mind working, (or vice versa) and you've chosen one of the narrow ranges of fields that are currently growth fields. (smart choice)
But!
You won't get rich working.
Let me say that again.
You won't get rich working.
(Money comes to those who help people.)
You get more money by helping MORE people.
You will get wealthy by leveraging your own specialisation to better help more people. (Several examples to convince us that by the time we graduate, we should be hiring each other for each other's specialties, rather than trying to be independent generalists.)
Also, you can become wealthy by patiently leveraging your growing net worth to help more people help other people. (Which neatly includes, growing your business, investing in other people's businesses, and repairing and managing real estate.)
(A quick example of how he bought broken-down real estate, fixed it up, and found people who actually needed it, to sell it to.)
And then he wrapped up with a tour of the college and help getting our library cards.
Tumblr media
They just want there to always be a class of people who are forever in debt. Whether it's chattel slavery, prison, student loan debt, medical debt, renters who will never be able to own a house, etc.

How to Use Your Amazon Fire Stick My TV Code at amazon.com/code
Tumblr media
How to Use Your Amazon Fire Stick My TV Code at amazon.com/code
The Amazon Fire Stick has transformed the way we experience entertainment. From binge-watching Netflix shows to streaming music, it brings everything to your fingertips—instantly. But before the fun begins, there's one crucial step: activating your Fire Stick using the My TV Code at amazon.com/code.
Whether you're setting up your device for the first time or re-linking it to a new account, this guide will show you exactly how to use amazon.com/code, avoid common mistakes, and ensure a seamless streaming experience.
What Is the Amazon Fire Stick My TV Code?
When you set up your Fire Stick, your screen will display a short alphanumeric string—the My TV Code. This code connects your Fire Stick to your Amazon account securely. Instead of logging in on your TV using a remote (which can be a headache), you’ll complete the process on your phone, tablet, or computer by visiting amazon.com/code.
The process is intentionally simple, user-friendly, and takes less than two minutes. Once completed, your Fire Stick becomes a personalized portal to your favorite streaming apps, subscriptions, and content
.
How to Enter the Amazon Fire Stick My TV Code at amazon.com/code
Here's a quick breakdown of how to activate your Fire Stick using the code:
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions:
Plug in your Fire Stick: Insert it into your TV’s HDMI port and connect the power adapter.
Turn on your TV: Switch to the correct HDMI input channel.
Follow on-screen prompts: Choose your language and connect to Wi-Fi.
Wait for the My TV Code: After connecting, the screen will show a code like "AB12CD."
Go to amazon.com/code: On another device (smartphone or laptop), open a browser and type in amazon.com/code.
Log in to Amazon: Use your Amazon credentials to sign in.
Enter the My TV Code: Type in the code from your TV screen and submit it.
You're done! The Fire Stick will be activated and ready for use within seconds.
This method allows you to link your account without fumbling around with a remote. It also adds a layer of security to the process.
What to Do If amazon.com/code Doesn’t Work
Occasionally, users report that amazon.com/code isn’t accepting their My TV Code or won’t load properly. Don’t worry—this is usually a minor glitch. Here's how to fix it quickly:
Double-check your code: My TV Codes are case-sensitive. Enter the code exactly as shown.
Refresh the page: Sometimes www.amazon.com/code just needs a refresh to load correctly.
Try a different browser: If amazon..com/code (a common typo) was entered, the page won't load. Be sure the URL is correct.
Restart the Fire Stick: Doing so will generate a fresh code.
If all else fails, visit www.amazon.com/mytv or amazon.com mytv, both of which redirect to the correct device linking portal.
Common Mistakes with www.amazon.com
Let’s clear up some confusion—especially when typing the URL. People often mistakenly enter:
amazon.com code (without the slash)
amazon..com/code (with double dots)
www.amazon.com/code (extra “www”)
www.amazon.com/mytv or amazon.com mytv
Although www.amazon.com/code works perfectly fine, the cleanest and most direct URL is amazon.com/code. Always double-check to avoid frustration.
Benefits of Linking Your Fire Stick with amazon.com/code
Once you complete the setup using amazon.com/code, you unlock several features that improve your experience:
1. Personalization
Your Fire Stick will sync with your Amazon account, giving you access to your Prime Video watch history, saved playlists, and app preferences.
2. Alexa Voice Control
With the Fire Stick remote, you can use voice commands to search for shows, control playback, and even ask Alexa for the weather.
3. App Management
Linking through amazon.com/code gives you direct access to Amazon’s Appstore. Download apps like Hulu, Disney+, YouTube, and Spotify in seconds.
4. Parental Controls
Amazon offers powerful controls once your device is linked, so you can restrict content based on ratings or PIN locks.
Why Use amazon.com/code Instead of Other Links?
Sure, you might find yourself on amazon.com mytv or amazon.com/code mytv, and these links often redirect correctly. But amazon.com/code is the official and most stable destination for Fire Stick activation.
Think of it as the front door. It’s secure, direct, and easy to remember. While URLs like amazon.com code or www.amazon.com/code will also work, the Amazon team built amazon.com/code specifically for this purpose.
Security Tip: Never Share Your My TV Code
The My TV Code is unique to your device and session. If someone else enters it into their own account, they could potentially link your Fire Stick to their profile. That’s why Amazon asks users to complete the activation process on a trusted device through amazon.com/code.
If you ever think your account is compromised, change your Amazon password and deregister your device through your account settings.
Conclusion: Quick, Easy, and Secure Streaming Starts at amazon.com/code
The Amazon Fire Stick delivers endless entertainment options, but activation is the key that unlocks it all. By entering your My TV Code at amazon.com/code, you're just a few clicks away from high-quality, personalized streaming.
Avoid the pitfalls of mistyped URLs like amazon..com/code or confusing redirects from amazon.com mytv and www.amazon.com/mytv. Head straight to amazon.com/code, follow the simple steps, and enjoy your upgraded home entertainment experience.
So next time someone asks how to activate their Fire Stick, you’ll know exactly what to tell them: "Just go to amazon.com/code, enter your code, and you're good to go!"

How to Use Your Amazon Fire Stick My TV Code at amazon.com/code
Tumblr media
