how possible is it that all of the costuming budget went into alicent hightower's *gestures at the wig and some really good costumes* everything?

this is the situation. on one side, we've got the hightowers thinking that alicent is absolutely useless at influencing the king because he's doing exactly the opposite of what they want, ie, he doesn't change his heir, he sends troops to the stepstones.

on the other we have rhaenyra who thinks alicent is actively plotting against her and succeeding.

then we have people like daemon and corlys, who just straight up hate alicent for no other reason than didn't get to be the king's sister wife himself/ didn't get to be the king's good-father himself. so, in conclusion, everyone's hating alicent for all the wrong reasons, or just for the sake of it.

okay no but i really feel for rhaenyra because her entire life's she's been a placeholder for her non-existent brother, and after everything is said and done, after her mother's been murdered for a boy who was literally "heir for a day", she finally thinks her father is acknowledging her, she just has to be better so she's not shut out from all conversations ... yeah no she's still a placeholder, isn't she?
